    Looking forward to the meals to come!

    This is a very high-level Small Luxury Hotel. While a certain auberge in Naka-Izu that I had visited many times has been fading due to aging facilities and staff shortages, this was a Hotel I genuinely wanted to return to after quite some time. That said, there were a few minor points I would like to see improved. (1) For dinner, we requested the raised circular sofa seating, but staff frequently passed through the aisle between the window-side table seats, which made it hard to relax. (2) After dinner, we were looking forward to unwinding at the poolside bar at night, but for some reason it was closed. (3) The Room was comfortable, but the in-room slippers were like those found in a Business Hotel, which dampened the elevated mood. (4) There seems to be a smoking area in front of the pool bar, but only a roughly 10 cm square standing ashtray was casually placed there—hardly something that could be called a designated smoking area. Compared with other auberges, this place excels in every respect; if the above points are improved, I believe it will become an outstanding Hotel where guests can stay even more comfortably.

    A proper auberge.

    It was a quiet Hotel nestled in the mountains, away from the bustle of Atami. For me, the most important part of any stay is the food. That’s why I made a Reservation after seeing “auberge,” and it truly lived up to the name—we enjoyed an outstanding meal. Simply delicious! I’d love to visit again. The staff were wonderful, and the view from our Room was amazing—we had a truly relaxing time.

    A Memorable Trip with My Mother

    This was my second visit to Mui Shizen. My partner gifted a trip to my mother and me. I was deeply moved when I first visited with my partner, and I had always hoped to come back someday with my mother. She has hip and knee problems and can’t easily go to an Onsen, but we thought the in-room open-air bath might work for her—so we came all the way from Hokkaido this time. My mother was delighted with both the Room and the bath. At first I helped her while bathing, but once she got used to it, she went in many times on her own (probably around 10 times). Breakfast was also wonderful—carefully selected ingredients served with excellent hospitality—making this truly the best trip. It seems there may no longer be a Plan without dinner going forward, but if that option returns, it would make it easier for us to visit more casually again. Thank you very much for another amazing time and space!

    We were thoroughly satisfied after enjoying an exquisite dinner while chatting with the chef, sommelier, and the younger staff. The pairing is highly recommended. The Room was very comfortable, and we fully enjoyed the bath along with the breathtaking views of Sagami Bay. The lounge also has a calm, relaxing atmosphere. I once saw a Review describing it as an “Accommodation you don’t want to tell anyone about,” and I completely understand why. Still, I wanted to share how wonderful this Accommodation is and how hospitable the staff are—so although I rarely post Reviews, I decided to write one this time.

    A wonderful Hotel.

    It was my first stay, but overall, I think it is an excellent hotel. The room environment was great, and the attentiveness of the butler was exceptional. Above all, the meals were incredibly delicious. Every dish showed creativity and ingenuity, with a perfect balance from the soup to the main course. This time I visited during winter, but I would love to return in a different season next time.

    Evolving the Auberge. A journey to savor freshness, just one hour from the city.

    Operated by Karakami HOTELS & RESORTS, known for managing accommodations like Hotel Kawakyu in Wakayama and Hotel Zuiho in Akiu Onsen. Newly opened in August 2025, this auberge features cuisine supervised by Chef Yasumasa Minemura of "Ao" in Roppongi. The accommodation offers a total of 18 rooms, including three separate Villa units. The room we stayed in was the Executive Corner, the top-tier room within the hotel building. It boasts better views than the Villas and is the only room where you can enjoy a distant view of Atami's fireworks festival. Additionally, it is the only room equipped with a TV. The cuisine lives up to its reputation and is exceptional. Dinner has slightly strong flavors but delivers concentrated umami that enhances its taste. The highlight is undoubtedly breakfast—while it may appear simple at first glance, the meticulous selection of ingredients elevates it to an extraordinary level of deliciousness. After watching a YouTube video where someone had three bowls of rice during breakfast here, I thought they were overeating—but now I completely understand why! You simply can't stop eating! The facility feels brand new as expected from its recent opening—everything is pristine with no complaints whatsoever. However, there are some areas for improvement regarding room amenities: adding baskets in the bathroom, providing towel warmers and more places to hang bath towels, clearer distinctions between indoor wear and sleepwear, as well as increasing hanger availability would enhance guest comfort further. In any case, this accommodation’s breakfast reaches an unparalleled level of excellence—you must try it at least once!

    Japanese-inspired French cuisine

    The meals were very satisfying. The head chef from Wakayama kindly greeted us. Located south of Atami, the roads can be a bit busy, but the Hotel is situated on a hill, offering a calm and wonderful atmosphere. The view from the Room was also excellent.

    Spacious and comfortable poolside atmosphere.

    The open-air bath on the balcony was spacious, with a sofa and chairs, offering a great view of the ocean. It was so enjoyable that I used it multiple times. Since it is a fully open-air bath rather than semi-open, the wind made my face cold at times, but it felt natural and relaxing. I also used the sauna with rented swimwear. The cold water bath was like a pool and extremely chilly—very stimulating! During sauna breaks, I relaxed on the poolside reclining chairs while watching leaves sway under the night sky—it was perfect. Although I hadn't planned to use the sauna initially, I ended up being very satisfied. Since no one else came by, I had exclusive use of the area. The poolside atmosphere made me forget I was in Japan. Fireworks might be visible from here too; in summer, swimming in this pool would feel amazing! As this is a new hotel, there’s room for improvement. For transportation: we took a taxi from Atami Station to reach here for 5,500 yen after confirming with hotel staff over the phone that taxis are easier to find at Atami Station than Ajiro Station. However, during check-in we learned that there’s morning car service available to Ajiro Station for return trips. When asked if pickup service is also available from Ajiro Station around 2:30 PM or so (if needed), they confirmed it could be arranged—but such information should be shared proactively with guests using public transport. During check-in we were served nerikiri sweets—they were sticky and unique in texture; perhaps foreign guests unfamiliar with them might enjoy trying them? Were they frozen? There were two types of loungewear provided in our room; however both seemed synthetic without labels but clearly felt like synthetic material by touch—not ideal for sleeping though fine for wearing to saunas—I’m glad I brought my own pajamas! Some accommodations provide such comfortable loungewear that you’d want to look up its brand—small details like these can make an impact as tactile experiences matter greatly. The interior art on top of TV shelves featured fake greenery which stood out awkwardly—instead perhaps driftwood or branches/flowers sourced locally would enhance aesthetics better? Accommodations showcasing tastefully arranged natural elements always elevate guest experiences—it currently feels more like model-room decor lacking distinct character reflective of this hotel. Lastly regarding amenities: there were two hooks provided vertically (one above another) for hanging robes/towels near bathrooms—but items hung on lower hooks don’t dry efficiently compared against horizontally aligned hooks which seem more practical overall!

    Breathtaking views beyond expectations!

    A perfect accommodation for a relaxing Onsen experience during the busy month of December. The room, ambiance, and staff service exceeded all expectations! It was incredibly quiet with stunning views, and the welcome drink and traditional Japanese sweets reflected true hospitality. The lounge offered complimentary Shizuoka beer, wine, and light snacks that were just right—neither excessive nor overly extravagant—allowing us to enjoy them freely. We stayed in a room on the 4th floor, and as soon as we opened the door, we were greeted by an expansive view of the ocean and sky through large windows—a truly satisfying sight. In the morning, we could watch the sunrise directly in front of us, while at night we enjoyed stargazing. The bath temperature was always perfect for a comfortable soak. This time we only opted for breakfast without dinner but plan to book a multiple-night stay next time to fully enjoy everything this accommodation has to offer. An accommodation worth visiting again and again!

    We had a wonderful time!

    The seasonal Nerikiri sweets provided at check-in are absolutely adorable. The meals are crafted to highlight the ingredients, and even with my many food preferences, I was able to enjoy everything. The room had popular face masks and drinks from Atami, creating a wonderful space for relaxation. This time I stayed in winter, but next time I hope to stay in summer to feel closer to nature!

    A rare newly built auberge in the Atami area

    This was our first visit to the auberge we had been curious about for a while. We chose this timing, thinking the initial rush after opening would have settled down. Here are some highlights from our stay: First, the staff's hospitality was exceptional. Although most of them were young, their attentiveness stood out—for example, one staff member discreetly assisted when too much foam appeared while pouring draft beer in the lounge. Their consistent smiles and courteous service greatly contributed to our comfortable stay. The cuisine exceeded expectations. While primarily Italian, dishes like the mackerel consommé with a hint of Japanese dashi were particularly impressive. The focus on high-quality ingredients without overcomplicating flavors was commendable. For breakfast, we enjoyed rice topped generously with bonito flakes—initially worried about finishing it all but ended up having seconds and finishing everything! The freshly cooked rice made for an exceptionally satisfying meal. The complimentary drinks in the room’s refrigerator and lounge (beer and wine) were appreciated but not being fully all-inclusive suited us well as my wife doesn’t drink alcohol. It allowed us to order just what we needed at reasonable prices—a thoughtful approach. The open-air onsen was fantastic; its chloride-rich waters warmed us to the core and made us want to bathe multiple times. The shower booth near the entrance allowed us to rinse off salt before returning to our room—a small yet considerate detail. Soaking in the onsen while gazing at the sea offered a truly luxurious moment of relaxation. I hesitated slightly before writing this review because I’m concerned that higher ratings might make reservations harder as we plan another visit soon! However, I decided to share my experience as encouragement for others. To all staff members—thank you so much! We look forward to seeing you again next time!

    Be amazed by the breathtaking corner view.

    During our Multiple Night Stay, the first night featured a kaiseki meal, and the second night was "seafood hot pot." Initially, I thought it might be ordinary hot pot, but to my surprise, the chef personally attended to us and served perfectly cooked seafood one after another. It was an amazing experience and absolutely delicious. The service was excellent, making our stay very comfortable. However, it was a bit disappointing that the lounge service ended at 5 PM. Since everything was so tasty, I would have loved to try a different breakfast option on the second morning.

    Beautiful views and delicious meals

    We stayed at this accommodation to celebrate my husband's birthday and had an absolutely wonderful time. It was such a memorable experience that we would love to visit again. The most impressive part was the breathtaking view from the room. The terrace was spacious, and sitting on the sofa while enjoying a beer and gazing at the vast ocean in front of us was simply perfect! The open-air bath was also large, and we loved it so much that we used it multiple times during our stay. As for meals, dinner was delicious, but breakfast also stood out with its thoughtful details—we couldn't resist having multiple servings of rice. Having visited Atami many times and stayed at hotels in a similar price range, this accommodation truly stands out with its carefully crafted cuisine, stunning views from the room, beautiful terrace—each offering a one-of-a-kind experience.     Excellent

    Simply Outstanding As it was a last-minute reservation, meals were not included and cannot be evaluated (They require reservations at least three days in advance) However, the service, the view from the bath, and the room's usability are unmatched in this price range. Many of the staff are Japanese, providing exceptional hospitality throughout. This high-quality accommodation rivals even those priced around 60,000 yen per night per person.

    A wonderful accommodation aligned with the theme of "Effortless Nature".

    It was an amazing accommodation experience. Both the lounge and the room featured a simple yet stylish design with no unnecessary elements, and the breathtaking ocean view through the large window was unforgettable. It was the most beautiful view I have ever experienced during a stay. Watching the sunrise while soaking in the open-air onsen was truly remarkable. The open-air onsen always had water filled to an appropriate level, providing ample space for two people to relax comfortably. The fact that it used natural onsen water added to its charm. Having stayed in many rooms with private open-air baths, this one stood out as having both the best view and quality of bath. Additionally, towels, amenities, gowns, indoor wear, and loungewear were all thoughtfully prepared with attention to detail; each item featured a unique "Muishizen" mark that reflected their dedication. The pajamas were not only well-designed but also incredibly comfortable. When staying at a ryokan, I often pay attention to shampoo quality and hairdryers provided. This time I was impressed by their choice of uka amenities and ReFa hairdryers—showing care even in small details. Of course, the staff's hospitality was exceptional from arrival to departure, making my stay very pleasant. Although I did not include meals this time around, I plan to book with meals included for my next visit!

    Satisfied with the new auberge

    I made a last-minute Reservation without much research. I stayed in the most affordable Luxury Twin Room, and even on the second floor, the view was open and satisfying. The layout allowed for ocean views from anywhere—chairs on the terrace, daybeds, indoor sofas, or beds. The Room design was simple but paired with this scenery, favorite music playing from speakers, and alcohol from the fridge; it felt complete. I appreciated that there were various types of alcohol provided in single bottles for sharing between two people (a bottle of tea would also be a nice addition). The bath maintained an ideal temperature at all times (since I used it multiple times, having some lotion provided would have been convenient). The meals made with carefully selected ingredients from across The whole country exceeded expectations. Experiencing this new auberge was delightful; when the chef came to greet us personally, we couldn’t help but applaud naturally. The staff seemed to be carefully chosen from their group Hotels as everyone provided excellent service. Located just near Atami, I discovered another wonderful Hotel and will definitely visit again!

    Room without TV and some disappointing service.

    The facility is new, so the room was clean and easy to use, and all the meals were delicious. However, it was disappointing that there was no TV in the room. It was clearly stated on IKYU.com at the time of reservation that there would be no TV, so this was my oversight. Upon closer inspection, it seems that some rooms do have TVs, so I should have researched more carefully. Other disappointing points are as follows: ○ The partition board for the open-air bath on the balcony is tightly attached to the bathtub, making it feel cramped. ○ The shower room had a strong odor from the drain. ○ The amount of tea provided as a welcome drink was too small. ○ The quality of traditional Japanese sweets served with the welcome drink was low (If high-quality traditional sweets cannot be provided, perhaps offering good-quality small Japanese confections with longer shelf life would be better). ○ During dinner, staff suddenly asked if "the meal portions were too much," but their words were unclear and abrupt, which disrupted our enjoyment (If staff need to ask questions during meals, they should consider saying something like "Excuse me for interrupting your enjoyment" to prepare guests for listening).

    The private open-air bath in the room was excellent.

    The room was new, spacious, and had an amazing view. The private open-air bath in the room was fantastic. I chose this room type because I knew it came with a TV. I enjoyed watching Netflix while relaxing in the open-air bath multiple times. However, I was a bit disappointed that some amenities like shampoo were replaced with fixed dispensers and that the complimentary snacks in the room were no longer provided. I had been looking forward to these based on reviews—perhaps they were part of an opening promotion? Additionally, when trying to use the kettle, I found that all outlets on the minibar shelf were already occupied by other appliances, so I had to use one by the bedside instead, which felt slightly inconvenient. Having an extension cord available in the room would be helpful. Overall though, despite my high expectations before arriving, it was a relaxing and comfortable stay. Thank you!

    It was the best day of our honeymoon.

    We recently stayed at "Mui Shizen Atami" for our honeymoon, and it became a truly special memory. I am writing this review to express my gratitude. First of all, the quiet surroundings allowed us to enjoy a very peaceful time. The room offered an ocean view where we could watch the sunrise, and the morning scenery was breathtakingly beautiful. The room itself was spacious, clean, and perfectly maintained for a comfortable stay. The amenities were excellent as well. They provided ReFa hair dryers and skincare sets including lotion and emulsion, so there was no need to bring our own—it was more than sufficient. What left the biggest impression on us was the attentiveness of the staff. From welcoming us upon arrival to seeing us off when we left, their hospitality was impeccable. When we returned by car at night, they even used lights to guide our steps—a thoughtful gesture that touched us deeply. The welcome drinks and snacks available in the lounge were also a delightful service that allowed us to relax. Additionally, there were private pools and saunas where we could fully enjoy an extraordinary experience. At night, there was also a bar—perfect for those who love drinks to have an amazing time. Unfortunately, due to oversight on confirming reservations for meals that required prior booking, we couldn’t try them this time—but next time we definitely want to enjoy dining as well. For anyone looking for a relaxing stay in Atami or planning a special trip, I highly recommend this hotel. Thanks to Mui Shizen Atami’s hospitality, our honeymoon became unforgettable. My wife also felt incredibly refreshed and expressed her joy—we are truly grateful from the bottom of our hearts. It is such an exceptional hotel that I am certain we will visit again in the future!     A truly wonderful Hotel, as its name suggests.

    Every year, we take a trip for our wedding anniversary, and this year, being a milestone, we stayed for two nights at this newly opened hotel. The name itself was charming and raised our expectations. The location is on an elevated spot with stunning views, and the lounge right at the entrance offers breathtaking scenery! Upon entering our room with equally beautiful views, we were greeted by two swans made of towels on the bed—a thoughtful anniversary gift that lifted our spirits 200%. The "Mizutori" sandals we've loved for years and the "uka" shampoo with its delightful fragrance added to the comfort. True to its name, everything provided was simple yet tasteful and of high quality. The highlight was undoubtedly the meals—starting with an exquisite soup made solely from mackerel broth. Every dish was rich in flavor, showcasing fresh ingredients that seemed to tell their own story. The staff members were impressively pleasant and worked harmoniously to create a welcoming atmosphere. We are deeply grateful for such a wonderful experience. Now we understand why guests who stay here want to return again!

    We had an exceptional holiday.

    We stayed for 2 nights and 3 days during the summer vacation. The view from the room was even more stunning than in the photos, the meals were delicious, and the pool, sauna, and other facilities were excellent. The staff's hospitality was also outstanding. Since neither my spouse nor I drink alcohol, we requested to replace the refrigerator drinks with soft drinks on the first day. They kindly agreed, and after cleaning on the second day, they restocked only soft drinks in the refrigerator, which deeply impressed us. Thank you very much!

    Stayed in a corner room. The weather was great, and the view was amazing. I didn't use the pool but enjoyed beer and wine at the free lounge; the cheese was delicious. The food and staff service were excellent. I would love to stay again.

    The meals are excellent.

    Thank you for your hospitality the other day. The meals exceeded expectations and were among the best in Atami's accommodations and restaurants. The Onsen in the room was comfortable, with ample space. The living area of the room was spacious, but the washroom felt cramped. Items such as loungewear, room wear, hand towels, slippers, flashlights, mirrors, tissue cases, etc., were not placed where they should be in the room. There were no hooks to hang bathrobes or bath towels either. The layout seemed not to have been thoughtfully designed for actual guests' convenience. While there was no TV in our room—suggesting a concept of enjoying delicious meals and relaxing quietly—other rooms did have TVs installed. Additionally, there is a bar located down some stairs from the lounge along an outdoor pathway; however, smoking is only allowed near an ashtray at its entrance. Once the bar closes for the night, it becomes dark outside due to lights being turned off. Since smoking on private terraces is prohibited and designated smoking areas are far from rooms and inconveniently located overall, this facility may not be ideal for smokers. In summary: while offering outstandingly delicious meals that stand out even among Atami's options—the lack of comfort within living spaces left a mismatched impression overall. It’s an excellent restaurant if you're dining only; however better accommodations with more comfortable environments can likely be found elsewhere in Atami.

    Looking forward to the grand opening!

    We chose this Hotel for a trip to celebrate my husband's birthday, as it was newly opened in late April and offered Shuttle Service from ATAMI. After boarding the shuttle from Atami, we were told it would take about 30 minutes... "What?!" we thought, "This is Atami, right?" Due to the rain, the ride took about 40 minutes. It felt more like Ajiro than Atami... After climbing a steep hill, we finally arrived at "Muin Shizen ATAMI." Contrary to our initial concerns, the building was stunning and exuded elegance. Starting with a welcome drink... our Room had beautiful decorations with towel swans for my husband's birthday along with flowers and cake—thank you so much! My husband was delighted. The draft beer in the lounge was also delicious. The view from our Room was spectacular; despite cloudy weather, Hatsushima Island could be seen clearly. We enjoyed relaxing amidst nature with birds chirping around us (having no TV turned out to be perfect). The Onsen's water quality was excellent—it kept us warm without cooling down quickly and made us want to bathe multiple times (it had a slightly yellow tint and salty taste). All staff members were young yet professional; their hospitality and service were outstanding. The meals were elaborate and very tasty—breakfast especially stood out as exceptional! We heard that there will be a grand opening in August with additional facilities like saunas and pools—we're looking forward to visiting again!
