    Wonderful

It was my first time visiting an Onsen in summer, and the open-air bath in the Room from night through early morning was outstanding. I’ve stayed at many Accommodations of this style, but I felt the views and sense of openness here were exceptional. The pool was larger than expected, clean, and since there were no small children, it felt like an adults-only pool and was very enjoyable. Being surrounded by trees was incredibly refreshing. The lounge was also very convenient to use. There was even a beer server, which was perfect for anyone who enjoys drinks. One point: considering this is an Accommodation in this class, I felt the way the staff wore their uniforms (polo shirts) looked a bit too casual, and it bothered me throughout my stay.

    A happy time!!

I was looking for an Accommodation with ocean views, on a hill, great food, and a pool—and found this place and decided to stay! From the Room, we could see Sagami Bay in the distance and even the horizon. The view was truly amazing, and the open-air bath in the Room was incredibly relaxing! For dinner, the head chef explained the ingredients to us. We chose the wine pairing as well, and everything was absolutely delicious—such a luxurious, happy time. Of course, breakfast was also excellent: a Japanese set with many dishes. In particular, the freshly cooked rice was honestly some of the best I’ve ever had. I wanted seconds (and more), but I was so full that I had to give up. The views, pool, and Onsen were wonderful too, but what stayed with me most was how delicious every meal was. It became a very special memory—thank you so much.

Accommodation for a couple in their 60s

The guest room, Onsen, cuisine, and the staff’s hospitality—everything was perfect and flawless. For the past four years, my spouse and I have been visiting Onsen Accommodations in Hakone and Izu once a month, but we have never stayed at an Accommodation as exceptional as this one. We will definitely return again. Thank you very much for taking such good care of us.

    Dining and Onsen

Perfect if you want to enjoy the meals and the open-air bath in your Room. If you’re looking to enjoy the view, I think it’s better not to choose a villa (I was told the bath size is the same in all guest rooms). True to the name “Mui Shizen,” service from check-in to check-out is generally minimal. However, it was a big plus that the chef personally came around each table at both dinner and breakfast to greet guests. Thank you for the delicious meals. The lounge operates in two sessions, and I was told it is closed after dinner during the second session. The souvenir was homemade financiers: one box of 6 pieces cost 5,000 yen. I liked the bathrobe provided in my Room, but I forgot to ask how I could purchase one. A razor is provided among the amenities, but there is no shaving cream, which feels inconsistent. I didn’t use the sauna or pool. There were also families using the pool with children. If arriving by car, you have to turn right into the parking lot on a steep uphill section just after a narrow left curve with poor visibility, so I think installing a convex mirror would help. From the parking lot to the lobby requires walking uphill. In rainy weather, I was told you either need to walk from the parking lot with an umbrella or drive up near the lobby and then reverse back down into a parking space. It may be due to site constraints, but I wonder if there’s any way this could be improved. On departure, staff kindly saw us off and helped direct traffic as well.

    The Best Onsen Accommodation Ever

Atami Onsen Accommodation “Mui Shizen”. I’ve stayed at many luxury Onsen Accommodations costing several hundred thousand yen per person, and this was without a doubt the best I’ve ever experienced. Exterior, interior, cuisine, Onsen, service—there’s usually at least one area that falls short, but Mui Shizen is top-tier across the board. This is the first Accommodation I can wholeheartedly recommend in every category. Less than 40 minutes from Tokyo by Shinkansen. The moment you step into your Room, you’re wrapped in the scent and warmth of wood. From FLOS lighting to the overall design quality, everything feels refined—and beyond the large windows lies an uninterrupted ocean view. It feels far more spacious than its 50 square meters. Spending time cycling between the sauna, pool, outdoor air bathing, and the in-room Onsen was also exceptional. Even details like temperature settings and flow between areas were thoughtfully designed for comfort. The cuisine is produced with involvement from “Ao,” an extremely hard-to-book restaurant in Roppongi. I’ve visited Ao twice myself, and Mui Shizen’s dining experience is every bit as impressive. The course blends French foundations with Japanese elements—from a dish featuring crystal-clear dashi to shirasu pasta, corn soup, potato gratin, and spiny lobster risotto—each plate bringing out the pure flavor of its ingredients to the fullest. The restaurant features a circular layout reminiscent of L’Effervescence. Wine and Champagne are served at ideal temperatures in proper glassware—there’s no compromise down to the smallest detail. I was also surprised that depending on season and Room type, you can stay for under 100,000 yen per person. And the service was truly among the best I’ve ever received. Despite having opened only last year, staff coordination and attentiveness are remarkably polished—you can feel how much effort goes on behind the scenes. They naturally anticipate what you need and check in at exactly the right moments. That spirit of hospitality—present even in fine details—elevated my stay to its highest level of satisfaction. Not an Accommodation where just one thing stands out—everything is outstanding. I confidently recommend it as an Accommodation everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime.

    Refresh in a sophisticated space

Because I booked at the last minute, only a No Meals Included option was available, so I stayed on the No Meals Included Plan. In the lounge, alcoholic drinks (beer, wine, champagne, shochu), soft drinks (tea, fruit juice, sparkling water), and snacks (cheese, canelés, brownies, dried fruit, etc.) were all unlimited—very satisfying. The ocean view from the Room was spectacular as well, and watching the sunrise while soaking in the open-air bath was amazing. The pool felt quite lukewarm due to the high temperature outside, but it wasn’t crowded so I could relax and enjoy it. Next time, I’d definitely like to try the meals too. When there wasn’t a single taxi at the nearest station and I called the Hotel, they came to pick me up right away. It was a very hot day, so that really helped.

    Exceeded expectations

I visited because it’s still fairly new and seemed like a place where you can truly enjoy the food, and I love auberges. Everything exceeded my expectations! Since our Room was a corner Room, it felt very open, and next time I’d like to try the corner on the other side as well. The meal began with the chef personally explaining the ingredients, and everything was delicious—especially their signature dish (I think?), the spiny lobster risotto, which was absolutely outstanding. We were told that drinks and sweets from the lounge could be brought back to the Room, so we made full use of that. The service from all staff members was flawless, and we enjoyed every aspect of our stay. If I had to mention one thing, part of the base at a corner of the sofa in the Room was exposed, and I bumped into it a few times; since it’s along a walkway area, it felt a bit hazardous. Other than that, there’s nothing to complain about—an Accommodation we were completely satisfied with!

In a way, just as expected.

I won’t be returning. Breakfast was delicious. From the phone response when making my Reservation, in a way, it didn’t disappoint my expectations. For a Hotel of this level, I think there should be a bit more training, education, and professionalism. Overall, the explanations were insufficient. As for dinner, wouldn’t it be better to focus only on locally sourced ingredients? There are plenty of great local ingredients. Regarding the course meal, I was already full by the gratin and fritters midway through. Even with such good ingredients, I think they would shine more with simpler cooking methods.

Confidently Atami’s No.1—an unparalleled, one-of-a-kind resort where everything is top-tier.

The pool exceeded expectations. It delivers a true resort atmosphere without feeling overly flashy, with a refined layout where adults can truly unwind. Simply spending time here felt like an escape from everyday life, offering satisfaction that goes far beyond being “photo-worthy.” And the dining: the quality of the ingredients, the skill in preparation, and the beauty of presentation were all impeccable. You could sense the chef’s intent in every dish, and the overall progression fully lived up to expectations. To be completely honest, the only minor disappointment was the dinner pairing. Precisely because the cuisine itself was so accomplished, I felt it would have been perfect with one more level of finesse in how it matched with wine. That said, this is a very small point in an otherwise outstanding experience and does not detract from the appeal of the food. Overall, this is a rare Accommodation where every core element—Room, views, Onsen, pool, and dining—is delivered at an exceptional level. Many properties claim luxury, but few satisfy so comprehensively on all fronts. If you’re looking for a genuine resort experience in Atami, I recommend this place without hesitation. It’s hard to imagine a better choice for a special anniversary or as a well-deserved treat for yourself. If you don’t mind that one small point about pairing, your stay should feel flawless—and it’s an Accommodation that will make you want to return without question.

It was the best view I’ve ever seen.

We were blessed with great weather, and the location was perfect—the best view we’ve ever had. It was wonderful to soak in the open-air bath while looking out at Hatsushima and Oshima.\nThe food was delicious, and the service was excellent, so we were very satisfied. Thank you very much.

    It was a wonderful stay.

We made a Reservation to celebrate his birthday. I had requested a message plate in advance for our meal, and I was also delighted to find lovely towel art prepared in our room. The spacious, spotless room, the relaxing pool, and the delicious food—everything was perfect. After the trip, both of us agreed that “this time, the Hotel stay was the best,” making it a truly wonderful stay. Thank you for smoothly accommodating changes to the Shuttle Service schedule and arranging taxis for us. It has become a place we would definitely love to visit again.

It became a truly special birthday.

We stayed here to celebrate his birthday. The Room was very spacious, and we were able to relax and enjoy a comfortable stay. We were truly soothed by the birdsong, the sound of water from the open-air bath in the Room, and the ocean view stretching out before us. It was a bit cloudy that day, but it was still beautiful—and we imagine the view would be even more stunning on a clear day. Both dinner and breakfast reflected great care in every ingredient, and every dish was genuinely delicious—we were impressed. The presentation was also beautiful, making it a meal to enjoy with all five senses. It was also wonderful that there is a pool next to the sauna. We enjoyed a luxurious time refreshing both body and mind while surrounded by nature. Above all, the hospitality of all the staff was truly outstanding. Thanks to their warm and attentive service, this birthday became an even more special memory. Both of us felt happy throughout our stay, and it is an Accommodation we sincerely want to return to. Thank you for such a wonderful time.

A wonderful Accommodation with an ocean view.

This was a truly charming Accommodation with outstanding views, offering a panoramic overlook of Sagami Bay from its hilltop location. The Onsen was excellent, and we were very satisfied with dinner, which exceeded our expectations. Above all, the attentive service from arrival to departure left a strong impression. They also accommodated changes to our taxi schedule flexibly, which was greatly appreciated. We would definitely like to return.

Relax with delicious meals and an ocean view

Set on a quiet hillside in the mountains. The guest room feels clean and uncluttered, with all the essentials provided. There is a spacious terrace with panoramic ocean views and a pleasant open-air bath. We were lucky to have a perfectly clear morning, and the sunrise over the horizon was truly beautiful. The meals were enjoyable from start to finish, with a variety of cooking methods that brought out the natural flavors of excellent ingredients without ever becoming repetitive. If I had to mention one thing, it would be nice to have a basket for items like bath towels, and some small snacks for when you want to take a short break.

    Excellent!

Thank you very much for your thoughtful consideration regarding our dining seating arrangements. My wife was especially grateful to be able to enjoy the meal in comfort. Although there is an advantage to being newly opened, the Accommodation was exceptionally clean and, above all, spotless. We loved the spectacular view from our Room and the simple yet practical layout that suited our tastes perfectly. The Onsen while gazing out at the sea was deeply relaxing and gave us a wonderful sense of escape from everyday life. The meal we had been looking forward to was introduced by the head chef in person, and we could truly feel a professional dedication through the careful selection of local ingredients and the many thoughtfully crafted dishes. It was genuinely delicious. We also appreciated the staff’s polite manner and comfortable sense of distance. This fulfilling stay has become a great travel memory for us. We hope that accommodation rates will not rise too much in the future, and we would love to visit again. Lastly, just a small note: if spare toilet paper could be placed inside the restroom, it would have saved us from having to look around near the washbasin area while still undressed after using the toilet.

A paradise where impeccable cuisine and service are guaranteed.

This Hotel had an outstanding reputation for its restaurant even before it opened. After staying here, I felt that reputation was well deserved. The mackerel consommé needed no added seasoning; its clear color and pure, clean umami were impressive. The pasta had absorbed an incredible amount of clam broth, yet there was no excess liquid left on the plate—and it was perfectly al dente. Wonderful. Breakfast was also exceptional—something you should experience for yourself by staying here. The head chef was very sincere and took the time to explain everything to us in detail. We heard he originally trained in Japanese cuisine, and that influence really showed at breakfast. I rated the guest room one star lower because there was no TV. That may be intentional, but if so, I would like to see more magazines and books available in the lounge. It’s an expensive Hotel, but I’d love to return.

    There is no TV.

Upon arrival by car, we were greeted immediately by the assistant manager. The Room is simple and clean with a touch of Japanese style, but not so extraordinary that guests would feel completely removed from everyday life. There is no TV, so you can’t do the morning TV exercises or watch the morning drama, sumo, or baseball—perhaps that’s what makes it feel out of the ordinary. The sea and sky view from the balcony is wonderful.

Thank you for a wonderful time.

Even though I arrived early after misunderstanding the check-in time, I was amazed by the wonderful service and exceptionally thoughtful hospitality. The Room was compact, clean, and easy to use, with a great selection of amenities—I really loved it. The daybed on the balcony was perfect for both sitting and lying down, and it was the best spot to enjoy a drink after a bath or while taking in the view. The Onsen water quality was excellent, and since I could bathe anytime, it warmed me through and through. Above all, breakfast and dinner were outstanding—I was truly impressed by the skill and sense that brought out the very best in each ingredient. Thank you for such a blissful stay: soaking in the Onsen in a Room with a beautiful view, enjoying incredible meals, and being cared for with exceptional service.

We had a relaxing, leisurely stay.

The weather was lovely, and the staff provided natural, attentive service without being overbearing, so we had a very comfortable stay. It was clear that the chef carefully selects and values the ingredients, creating dishes that truly bring out their best, and we were very satisfied. In particular, we were surprised to find miso from Yamari Shoten served at breakfast—it’s something we usually only encounter at restaurants in Kyoto. If I had to mention anything, it would have been even better if there had been a wash basin in the bathing area. Also, perhaps we missed it, but it would have been nice to have paper napkins available at the lounge’s complimentary drinks corner. In any case, this has become one of the Accommodations we would love to visit again.

Looking forward to your future dishes!

This is a very high-level Small Luxury Hotel. While a certain auberge in Naka-Izu that I had visited many times has been fading due to aging Facilities and staff shortages, this was a Hotel I genuinely wanted to visit again after a long time. That said, there were a few minor points I hope will be improved. (1) For dinner, I requested the circular sofa seating on the raised platform, but staff frequently walked back and forth through the aisle between the window-side tables, which made it hard to relax. (2) I was looking forward to unwinding at the poolside bar after dinner, but for some reason it was closed. (3) The Room itself is comfortable, but the in-room slippers were like those found in a Business Hotel, which dampened the elevated mood. (4) There seems to be a smoking area in front of the pool bar, but it was just an unattended 10 cm square standing ashtray, so it hardly felt like a proper designated area. Compared with other auberges, this Hotel excels in every respect; if the above points are addressed, I believe it will become an outstanding place where guests can stay even more comfortably.

    A proper auberge.

It was a quiet Hotel nestled in the mountains, away from the bustle of Atami. For me, the most important part of any stay is the food. That’s why I made a Reservation after seeing “auberge,” and it truly lived up to the name—we enjoyed an outstanding meal. Simply delicious! I’d love to visit again. The staff were wonderful, and the view from our Room was amazing—we had a truly relaxing time.

A Memorable Trip with My Mother

This was my second visit to Mui Shizen. My partner gifted a trip to my mother and me. I was deeply moved when I first visited with my partner, and I had always hoped to come back someday with my mother. She has hip and knee problems and can’t easily go to an Onsen, but we thought the in-room open-air bath might work for her—so we came all the way from Hokkaido this time. My mother was delighted with both the Room and the bath. At first I helped her while bathing, but once she got used to it, she went in many times on her own (probably around 10 times). Breakfast was also wonderful—carefully selected ingredients served with excellent hospitality—making this truly the best trip. It seems there may no longer be a Plan without dinner going forward, but if that option returns, it would make it easier for us to visit more casually again. Thank you very much for another amazing time and space!

We were thoroughly satisfied after enjoying an exquisite dinner while chatting with the chef, sommelier, and the younger staff. The pairing is highly recommended. The Room was very comfortable, and we fully enjoyed the bath along with the breathtaking views of Sagami Bay. The lounge also has a calm, relaxing atmosphere. I once saw a Review describing it as an “Accommodation you don’t want to tell anyone about,” and I completely understand why. Still, I wanted to share how wonderful this Accommodation is and how hospitable the staff are—so although I rarely post Reviews, I decided to write one this time.
