Kanouya Shima Onsen

We stayed in a Room with an open-air bath. It was a very spacious and spotless Room. The open-air bath was generously sized, and we could relax while listening to the sound of the clear river flowing below the Accommodation. We had a Multiple Night Stay for two nights, and they changed the meal menu for us, so we enjoyed it without getting bored. Both the T-bone steak and filet steak were lean Joshu beef—low in fat yet incredibly tender—and my spouse and I were thrilled as we ate. We were also surprised by how delicious the thick-cut bacon served with the salad was.We are grateful to all the staff for their very courteous service.Both of us would definitely like to visit again.

Following my previous stay, I visited again with my husband for two nights. The Accommodation is new and very clean. A clear stream runs right beside it, and through the large glass windows you can see the mountains and the stream. The first-floor Room requires using stairs, but I love the deep bath. Other Accommodations also have deep baths, but they are in a large public bath area. The meals are delicious, and the price of a Room with a private open-air Onsen is almost half of what you would pay at Accommodations in places like Hakone—excellent value for money. Access from Tokyo isn’t very convenient, so maybe that’s why it’s priced this way? There are transfers, but it only takes a little longer than getting to Gora.
