    Luxurious Accommodation

    We chose "Amakudaru Hill" as our accommodation because of its high ratings, and it exceeded our expectations by far. From the moment we arrived at the entrance, staff assisted with moving our luggage to the room and parking the car. While enjoying a welcome drink of sparkling wine, we were given an explanation of the accommodation and prepared for a fulfilling stay, including spa reservations. In our room, we could choose from five types of aroma oils to customize the scent to our liking. Before dinner, we enjoyed activities such as sand baths, private open-air baths, simulation golf, and feeding koi fish. Dinner was a French course meal featuring local ingredients that were visually stunning and incredibly delicious. The presentation of dishes like salmon with caviar in mango sauce amazed us; the tenderness of Ibusuki beef was exceptional; garlic fried rice was available for seconds; and even chabushi soup had a unique French twist with soy milk—everything was exquisite. The chocolate dessert was served warm with perfectly rare chocolate inside. Every dish came with detailed explanations from staff who also paid attention to refills for bread or other items—flavor, portion size, service—all were impeccable. After dinner, we enjoyed stone saunas and large public baths—the latter felt like having it all to ourselves due to limited guest numbers at this accommodation. The balcony's open-air bath offered breathtaking views of nightscapes and starry skies—a truly memorable experience enhanced by complimentary alcoholic beverages in-room after bathing. The next morning’s French breakfast included warm waffles that left an unforgettable impression on us. Following breakfast came an extraordinary ceramic spa experience—a refreshing sensation different from sand baths but equally invigorating as sweat naturally flowed out. At checkout time when mentioning how much we loved one particular aroma oil used in our room—they kindly gifted us that very oil as a souvenir! All staff members saw us off together upon departure—it felt like every detail during check-in through checkout had been thoughtfully attended-to throughout this highly satisfying stay!     Stunning views

    This was my first visit to Ibusuki. A hotel with a stunning view. Although small, the room has an open-air onsen with natural hot spring water, which is very relaxing. The room is clean and equipped with a large projector for watching TV. Complimentary drinks such as champagne, shochu, beer, highball, Kagoshima tea, and water were provided. For dinner, I chose Japanese cuisine and it was impeccable. The dishes made with local ingredients were excellent—both the vegetables and seafood were delicious. The service during meals was also outstanding. I enjoyed various facilities like the sand-steamed onsen, ceramic bath, private open-air bath, and large public bath. Although I intended to relax more leisurely, exploring all the onsen options kept me quite busy! If you're coming from Lake Ikeda's direction, note that some roads are narrow; it might be easier to drive along the coast of Ibusuki to reach the hotel—just for your reference. This is a hotel I'd love to visit again—highly recommended!

    The first impression...

    The first impression upon arriving at the accommodation was the staff's heartfelt hospitality. It felt like a warmth unique to Kagoshima, making our stay very comfortable. Visiting during the three-day weekend in November, we were greeted by stunning fields of pampas grass around the hotel. The sand baths and large public baths were, of course, wonderful, but enjoying time in the private open-air bath with views of pampas grass and Kagoshima Bay under the moonlight was pure bliss. Although I was initially worried about having a French breakfast as it’s not something I usually have, both its taste and presentation were fresh and delightful—I ended up finishing everything with enjoyment. Both my mind and body were deeply rejuvenated, leaving me completely satisfied with this wonderful accommodation.

    Thank you for the incredibly warm service.

    We stayed here on the second night of our first trip to Kagoshima. From the warm welcome in the rain to the refreshing spa services, the well-equipped room amenities, and complimentary room drinks—it was a delightful experience. The sand bath provided an amazing detox! Breakfast was luxurious with a mini-course style, and everything tasted fantastic. We deeply regret not including dinner in our stay... At checkout, we were kindly seen off by two staff members. Although we usually don't repeat accommodations, we will definitely stay here again when visiting Ibusuki next time! Thank you so much!

    It was my first time using this service, and the hospitality was exceptional.

    It was my first time staying here, and I was impressed by the staff's excellent service. They accommodated additional allergy requests for meals, provided a birthday cake with coffee for the next day, and personally informed us of small changes. Every staff member was attentive to questions and conversations, always considering how to meet guests' needs. Their dedication was truly remarkable. The room had an amazing view, and I enjoyed soaking in the cypress open-air bath while gazing at the sea. This time, I indulged in various Onsen experiences including a sand bath, private open-air bath, stone sauna, large public bath, as well as the cypress bath in my room—completely satisfied with everything. If I may suggest one improvement: addressing wear and tear on wooden facilities like those in the large public baths or private open-air baths would enhance future experiences. Since this stay was only for one night and two days, there are still many things left to explore within your vast Facility grounds. I look forward to visiting again!

    We stayed at this accommodation on the second night of our Kyushu trip as three sisters in their 60s. We had high expectations based on reviews and the official website, but upon arrival, the staff's expressions lacked smiles, and their words were few, leaving us feeling unwelcome. The room appeared to be a renovated older building with sufficient space and modernity. Complimentary drinks were provided in the room; however, there were no amenities. The private open-air bath we had been looking forward to was on a very narrow balcony and was small enough for just one person. There was a poolside chair placed on the balcony, but it barely fit and seemed unnecessary. A mat for this chair was left inside the room but did not appear clean, which dampened our mood further. After returning from dinner, we found bugs like stink bugs covering an entire windowpane; we immediately closed the curtains as it was extremely unpleasant. It made using the balcony bath impossible that evening. By morning, most of them seemed to have returned to nature; however, with strong sunlight streaming in during sunrise making it feel too hot for comfort or risking sunburns discouraged us from using it again. The public bathhouse offered a pleasant experience overall though even there during mornings sunlight poured excessively forcing us into shaded corners while bathing. As for meals: prior notice about all three guests disliking meat dishes resulted in exclusively seafood-based preparations which turned out deliciously creative! Particularly noteworthy being flavorful mixed rice served later transformed into delightful cold rice balls upon request proving equally tasty when consumed later! Breakfast too tasted great except minor hiccup involving miso soup refill request initially met hesitantly requiring double-confirmation delays eventually arriving post-consumption rendering timing awkward alongside portion mismatch (served full-sized despite asking minimal amount).     Extraordinary

    I was looking for an accommodation in the Ibusuki Onsen area, a place I had never visited before, to experience the sand bath, and I found this place. We were welcomed with a drink upon arrival, and there was an infinity pool right in front of us. The room was spacious with a private bath on the balcony. We enjoyed various facilities such as the sand bath and ceramic spa. Meals were served at the restaurant while enjoying beautiful views. We even received a gift upon departure, making it a truly wonderful stay.

The cuisine, crafted by the chef using local ingredients with a focus on local production for local consumption, was very delicious. The open-air bath could have been more traditionally Japanese. The shuttle service from the Hotel to the station was also convenient. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience.

    Perfect for family trips! A wonderful accommodation to create the best memories.

    We stayed as a family and were immediately captivated by the stunning view of the infinity pool from the lobby upon entering. Both dinner and breakfast were exceptional. The dishes, made with local ingredients, were delicate and satisfying for both children and adults. We also appreciated the thoughtful gesture of having leftover matsutake rice made into rice balls. We thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful pool and sand bath. The children had a blast in the pool, while adults relaxed in the sand bath, relieving daily stress and rejuvenating both body and mind. The guest room was spacious, allowing our family to unwind comfortably together. We are also grateful for the warm hospitality of all staff members. This was an extraordinary experience that created unforgettable memories for our family. We would love to visit again. Thank you so much!

    The Ultimate Hospitality

    I stayed for 2 nights and 3 days. Due to nearby construction, I was informed that it might cause some inconvenience, and my room was upgraded. From the room, I could enjoy a stunning view of the cityscape of Ibusuki, the sea, and even Sakurajima in the distance. During dinner, I mentioned to a staff member that I was visiting to celebrate my 60th birthday. The next evening at dinner, they surprised me with a sashimi plate featuring a message saying "Happy 60th Birthday," along with a flower arrangement, a red celebratory vest (chan-chanko), commemorative photos, and even an album compiling those photos. It truly felt like a dream celebration for my milestone birthday—I was deeply moved by their thoughtfulness. I also thoroughly enjoyed the sand Onsen and large public bath. The meals made with plenty of local ingredients were all incredibly delicious and left me feeling refreshed both physically and mentally. I am filled with gratitude for the care and hospitality shown by all the staff members. It was an unforgettable stay worthy of 100 points!

    I had a wonderful ti...

    I had a wonderful time. The view upon arrival was breathtaking, especially the sight of Kinko Bay beyond the infinity pool. I regretted not bringing my swimsuit. There were many impressive aspects, but first and foremost, the meals were exceptional. I requested Japanese cuisine, and everything—from the room setting to the trays, tableware, dishes, and service—was outstanding. The morning cruise on Lake Ikeda was also an incredible experience. Reflecting on keywords like Mount Kaimon, Lake Ikeda, Atsuhime, and giant eels made for a pleasant and educational journey through time. When I looked up at the night sky from Amateru Hill (so this is what it means), I was in awe of the star-filled heavens twinkling above me—it felt as though I could reach out and grab them because they appeared so close. When was the last time I saw stars like that? Amenities featured bamboo materials to reduce plastic use; there were efforts in geothermal power generation; a radiation therapy facility was attached; connections with Bhutan were evident—and more! Reading one of the books provided in my Room left me deeply inspired. The vast grounds are beautifully maintained with cherry blossoms, hydrangeas, ginkgo trees planted throughout—I would love to visit again during another season!

    Stress-free

    From the warm welcome upon arrival to the heartfelt farewell at departure, we were truly impressed by the attentive service. The room was spacious, and the onsen on the balcony had just the right temperature, making it so enjoyable that we soaked in it multiple times with great satisfaction. Although we wanted to try the sand bath included in the all-inclusive package, there were no available slots during our preferred time, so we had to give up. However, since we fully enjoyed the onsen in our room, there was no dissatisfaction. We chose Japanese cuisine for our meals and found everything absolutely delicious! The bonito broth was exceptional, and both dinner and breakfast were thoroughly satisfying. As a treat for ourselves, we often stay at similar types of accommodations, but this one stands out as the best in Kyushu. It is an accommodation we'd love to revisit!

    Excellent

    Although the weather was not favorable, the interior of the hotel was spacious and designed to be barrier-free, allowing my 90-year-old mother to move from her room to the Onsen facility and dining area in her wheelchair with ease. We had a very relaxing stay. The service provided by the staff was excellent; they kindly assisted with pushing my mother's wheelchair and showed great attention to detail, for which we are very grateful. The meals were outstanding—better than any other hotel we have visited so far. This alone makes us want to visit again. The ceramic ball spa was a first-time experience for us, but it was incredibly pleasant. Highly recommended hotel!

    Due to staying during a typhoon, I couldn't enjoy the night view I was looking forward to, and the pool was unavailable. However, the creative French cuisine using local ingredients was incredibly delicious and very satisfying. Additionally, the staff's kind and attentive service made me want to stay again in the future.

    Everything was of the highest quality.

    Thank you very much for your hospitality during our recent stay. It was a truly satisfying experience. From the reception to the final moment of leaving the parking lot, we were treated with exceptional hospitality and felt very comfortable throughout our stay. The view of Ibusuki's town and sea from our room was absolutely spectacular. The views and service during both dinner and breakfast were also wonderful, and every dish exceeded our expectations. The dinner course, in particular, was exceptionally delicious. The hospitality in every aspect was simply outstanding. This is a hotel we would love to visit again and recommend to friends.     I stayed at "Kaze" w...

    I stayed at "Kaze" with a one-night, two-meal plan. The room in the exclusive area of "Bettei Amakuru Oka" was spaciously designed, and beverages in the room (except for wine in the wine cellar) such as shochu, sparkling wine, beer, Perrier, water, and tea were all complimentary. Unfortunately, due to heavy rain, I couldn't enjoy the view or pool but did enjoy the sand bath and ceramic bath. The meals were excellent. During my stay, I learned that this accommodation shares its building with other facilities. The entrance was very simple—so much so that I initially mistook it for a service entrance. After passing by it once and trying another entrance (which turned out to be a different hotel), I returned to find that this was indeed the correct place. Was this originally some kind of large training facility? The shared areas resembled those of an accommodation for group activities or training camps; even the restaurant felt like a banquet hall. The bathing facilities are also shared with other accommodations and do not provide towels (you need to bring them from your room). While sharing spaces with other facilities is understandable, it would be nice if just within Bettei Amakuru Oka's exclusive area there were more resort-like touches upon entering to enhance its atmosphere.

    It was a wonderful 3 days.

    We considered several accommodations by the sea, but this hotel caught our attention, so we stayed for two nights. We were quite nervous until we arrived after renting a car at Ibusuki Station, but once we got there, it was amazing! A Steinway piano and an infinity pool—perfect for couples. I was worried it might not be suitable to bring my elderly mother along, but everyone was so kind and made us feel very comfortable. This time, we were upgraded and had the most wonderful experience. As for the meals, honestly speaking, I didn’t have high expectations since local dining can sometimes be disappointing. However, both the Japanese cuisine and French dishes were exceptional. They used locally sourced ingredients that are rarely seen in everyday life—it was absolutely delicious. There were several Nepalese staff members whose Japanese was flawless; I never had any trouble understanding them and was truly impressed. Of course, their service was also outstanding. Thank you very much for everything. I tried all of the spa facilities as well, and the ceramic spa stood out as my favorite! Even now, I wish I could enjoy it every day. This is a hotel I'd love to visit again in a different season.

    A Hotel You'll Want to Stay Multiple Nights

    The pool is slightly deep, making it very enjoyable even for adults, and we had a relaxing time. The food was also absolutely satisfying. There were many spa options, and we deeply regretted not opting for a Multiple Night Stay. The open-air bath in the Room allowed us to enjoy stargazing at night and watch the sunrise slowly in the early morning, making our stay truly wonderful. The staff were incredibly kind, and our entire family was extremely satisfied.

    It was truly a wonderful Hotel.

    From the moment we arrived by car, we were greeted with a breathtaking view that left us speechless. The welcoming staff was multinational, making us feel as though we had traveled abroad, which added to our excitement. At check-in, we were offered a Welcome Drink with a choice of tea or sparkling beverage. The staff provided detailed explanations about the facility and large public bath before guiding us to our room. When the door opened, the stunning view took our breath away. We stayed in "Kaze," a spacious room featuring both Japanese and Western-style areas. From the balcony, we enjoyed an incredible panoramic view of Ibusuki's sea and mountains. The same spectacular scenery could also be admired from the large public bath, where the soft spring water left our skin feeling smooth and rejuvenated. Additionally, there were unique facilities such as a ceramic spa—one of only 2-3 in Kagoshima Prefecture—and sand baths for relaxation. Even rare massage machines were available, reflecting how much thought was given to health and wellness at this accommodation. Later on, we learned that the hotel owner is also a renowned hospital director specializing in cancer treatment—it all made sense after experiencing such thoughtful facilities. For dinner, since my elderly parents joined us on this trip, we opted for Japanese cuisine served at an exclusive counter within a spacious dining area where dishes were prepared directly by chefs before being served to us personally. One family member who doesn’t eat meat was accommodated perfectly; even small pieces of meat in Satsuma soup had been carefully removed upon prior request—a gesture that deeply moved us. Every dish featured locally sourced ingredients and was absolutely exquisite! My mother—who usually has many food preferences—enjoyed almost everything on her plate without hesitation; it truly surprised me! Breakfast at the same location continued this wonderful dining experience. Sharing moments with my mother while soaking in hot springs overlooking serene ocean views brought her to say “I’m truly happy.” These words alone made this stay unforgettable for me too. To everyone at this accommodation who provided such exceptional hospitality: thank you from the bottom of my heart! We will definitely return again soon!

    A wonderful Hotel, but...

    This was my first stay, and everything was excellent, including the view from the room, the hospitality provided by both local and international staff, the meals, and the facilities such as the sand bath and infinity pool. If I visit Ibusuki again, I would love to stay here. One concern is that it is attached to a hospital. The Proton Therapy Center accommodates cancer patients for long-term treatment. While using the large public bath, I had a casual conversation with one of them but felt slightly uncomfortable. The room also had an onsen, so there was no need to use the large public bath. However, it would be better if there were separate pathways to ensure that travelers and patients do not cross paths. My stay at this hotel was otherwise exceptional and allowed me to have a wonderful time; however, hearing stories from someone in such circumstances at the public bath made me feel a bit sad.

    Overall, we were extremely satisfied!

    I stayed here during my first visit to Ibusuki, and it was absolutely satisfying! I was initially worried after reading reviews mentioning the vast grounds making it hard to find the hotel entrance. However, there were signs at key points, so I arrived without any trouble. Despite checking in later than planned, the staff waited for me in the lobby and made the process smooth. They even offered a welcome drink of champagne. The room featured a private onsen with flowing hot spring water, offering stunning views of Ibusuki's townscape, sea, and sky from an elevated location. The amenities were luxurious, and there was a wide selection of free drinks including a full bottle of sparkling wine, small bottles of shochu, and beer. Since I stayed on a Thursday night (a weekday), the large public bath was practically private (apparently this was also true for the men's bath). The post-bath apple vinegar drink was delicious, and high-end massage chairs were available for unlimited use. For dinner, I dined at a restaurant in Ibusuki city. Breakfast consisted of light Western-style dishes served while enjoying views of the garden. It felt very personalized as they served at my pace. The waffles and yogurt were particularly delightful. From 9:00 AM onwards in the morning, I enjoyed sand baths, stone saunas, and private open-air baths—all clean facilities that could be used privately without any additional charges. The staff provided detailed guidance here as well—another aspect that left me highly satisfied. One thing that caught my attention is how few other guests I encountered despite such expansive grounds, luxurious facilities, attentive service levels—and how impeccably maintained everything is! While it's none of my business really—it did make me wonder about their business sustainability slightly concernedly! Regardless though—I’m thrilled w/ choosing them amidst experiencing first-ever trip-to-Ibusuki! Thank-you!!

    An accommodation filled with thoughtful touches everywhere

    As it is a facility where you sweat, the availability of aroma diffusers for rent as an odor countermeasure was greatly appreciated. The meals, made with local ingredients, were excellently seasoned and incredibly delicious. Starting the morning with salad, fruit juice, and rice ball made from clay pot-cooked rice was perfect. The SPA facility unique to Ibusuki provided deep relaxation. The hospitality was outstanding, making this one of the accommodations I would love to revisit. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

    It was a very relaxing Hotel. The staff's smiles were heartwarming. Dinner was excellent, featuring delicious dishes made with local ingredients. The night view was also stunning. It was a wonderful day. Both my heart and body, as well as my appetite, were satisfied.

    The sand bath and private open-air bath were excellent! Above all, the view from the Room was amazing, and since it was sunny, we could see Sakurajima. The staff were all very friendly and made our stay enjoyable. There is a spot in the spa building where you can feed koi fish, which was also fun and highly recommended.

    A breathtaking view in a unique setting!!

    I stayed at HIKARI. Although the weather was unfortunate, I imagine the view would be absolutely stunning on a clear day. The Satsuma French dinner and breakfast were incredibly delicious. I’d revisit just for the meals! Additionally, the hospitality of the foreign staff at the restaurant and sand bath facility was outstanding! Truly attentive service. Even in May, we enjoyed the heated pool. Personally, I loved that feeding koi fish was available 24/7—it made me so happy! Thank you for taking care of us!!

    Very good hotel! The service was excellent, and the French cuisine for dinner was amazing! Everything was perfect!

    We stayed as a family of three. The staff were very courteous. The Room felt slightly dated in design, but there were no particular issues. Due to the price, we can't use it frequently, but we would like to stay again.

    We stayed at this hotel during our trip to Kagoshima to celebrate my husband's birthday. We also requested dinner and breakfast, and everything was truly delicious!! The atmosphere was very calm, and we felt extremely comfortable! The staff at the spa were very attentive, allowing us to relax completely. We would love to stay here again! Thank you so much for this wonderful experience!
