    Well, a bit of everything. Maybe I’ll stay in the main building next time.

    I’ll write this in sections. Bath The large hinoki-wood bath was spacious and very relaxing. However, even while soaking, my toes only just reached the bottom, and I felt like I might sink if I wasn’t careful. The bottom was also quite slippery (whether due to the water quality or the condition of the wood), so it felt like I could slip and fall if I let my guard down. The tray holding shampoo and other items in the washing area was a bit far away, so when I moved it closer, there was a large buildup of soap scum where it had been. It seemed like cleaning had been done without moving the tray. I rinsed it off with hot water. The reheating/keep-warm function for the bath water was excellent. I thought there would be a large public bath on-site, so it was a bit disappointing to learn that we needed to go to the main building across the road. Room Because the bed was a single, it felt a little cramped. Also, both the bed and sofa were quite low, so once seated it took some effort to stand up again—having them slightly higher might have been better. The TV seemed to have an issue with the tuner; it would occasionally cut out and stop displaying anything, which was frustrating. A staff member came to fix it and it worked for a while, but then the same problem happened again. The bathroom amenities were plentiful, and the large print labels were easy to read—something older guests can really appreciate. It was disappointing that only yukata were provided as sleepwear and there were no pajamas. The yukata fabric also felt rather thick for sleeping. Meals Everything tasted great, presentation was beautiful, and even the drinks were excellent—I was very satisfied overall. However, one puzzling thing: in my bowl for what seemed like one of first courses/menu items at dinner (or at least early on), there were two ingredients inside. One appeared to be sweetfish (ayu) as listed on menu card; when I asked about other piece ingredient,, they said abalone.. It delicious,, but my companion said their bowl did not include abalone.. There is no mention of abalone on menu card either (which you’d expect if included), so I wondered whether this may have been mistake. Other At check-in we were taken by cart,, but distance is short,, ride wasn’t very comfortable,, and since it's only once anyway walking would have been fine.. All staff members were kind warm welcoming.. In particular person who came fix TV tuner worked quickly efficiently—they were wonderful..

    A Quiet Accommodation in Dogo

    We stayed in two Rooms, with two people in each. Each detached Room had a different style of garden, and it was a pleasure to compare them during our stay. The cypress bath in the Room was also easy and comfortable to use, as we were given a careful explanation of how to set the water temperature. The meals were French-style kaiseki—beautifully presented and truly delicious. This time we visited with family members celebrating their 80th and 90th birthdays. We were a little concerned about mobility, but the staff member in charge of our Room was very kind, and we were escorted around the grounds by cart. We are grateful for such thoughtful care. A Japanese bush warbler even came to the garden by our Room and treated us to its lovely song. We were also able to use the large public bath at an adjacent affiliated Hotel, which allowed our family to relax together. This is an Accommodation I would recommend to anyone seeking a quiet stay. I hope to visit again.

    A bright, spacious R...

    A bright, spacious Room with high ceilings. Surrounded by greenery, we could even hear Japanese bush warblers—it was a wonderful hidden retreat. The carefully prepared dishes made with local ingredients were delicious, and we finished everything. The dried horse mackerel served at breakfast—also used in space food—was so tender we could eat it right down to the bones, a flavor we had never experienced before. When we visit Dogo Onsen again, we would love to stay here once more.

    The Accommodation was neither particularly good nor bad—just average.

    To avoid the Golden Week crowds, I was looking again this year for an Accommodation within 30 minutes of home... A last-minute cancellation opened up, so this was my first stay. Overall, as the title says, it was neither particularly good nor bad. ● The level of hospitality varied depending on the staff member. ● The Room was much smaller than the Accommodations I usually stay at. ● Even though the cypress bath in the Room had been cleaned, the bottom felt slimy and unpleasant. ● As for the Onsen, it was not free-flowing from the source, and the water temperature was quite low, so it felt cold. ● The vanity did not have double sinks, and I also felt that the layout around the water area was inconvenient. ● Regarding meals... nothing especially memorable—again, neither good nor bad. However, I was shocked to be told they only had local bottled beer and bottled beer, with no draft beer available. There was no send-off at all, and throughout my stay there were no points that felt as good as I had expected. Still, I’m glad I was able to stay during Golden Week.

    Conveniently located in the heart of the Onsen town.

    After sightseeing along the Shimanami Kaido from Onomichi on our first night, we stayed at this Accommodation on the second night. The atmosphere truly matched its name, “Hagakure.” There were many restaurants and souvenir shops nearby, which was very convenient. Also, when we wanted to use a large public bath, we could easily visit the nearby sister Hotel, which was another plus. Thanks to this, we were able to end our Shimanami Kaido trip as a couple in a relaxed way.

    It was a wonderful A...

    It was a wonderful Accommodation where we could stay very comfortably. The location was easy to find, and the parking lot was spacious and easy to use, so everything from arrival went smoothly and felt reassuring. The Room was spacious, and the courtyard left a strong impression. We could view the courtyard both from the Room and from the bath, which was great—we could relax at our own pace while watching the children play. Because each unit is separate, we were able to spend time quietly without worrying about others, and truly unwind. When heading out to an Onsen bathhouse, a set of basket, towels, sandals, and socks was provided, and we were impressed by this thoughtful attention to detail. It was nice to be able to enjoy the Onsen with minimal luggage. The convenient location—just a short walk to Dogo Onsen—was also very appealing and made sightseeing easy. We also stopped by the glass museum on the property, and each of our children found something they liked and enjoyed it. This time we didn’t add meals because our plan was to try local street food instead, but next time we would definitely like to stay with meals included. Overall, it was an extremely satisfying Accommodation where our whole family could spend a relaxing time together.

    A couple’s trip to Dogo Onsen for the first time in 25 years—such a wonderful Accommodation. Ah, bliss.

    We visited Dogo Onsen for the first time in 25 years as a couple, planning to come once the repairs at Dogo Onsen Honkan were finished. Yamanote Bettei Hagakure, where we stayed this time, is a pleasant Accommodation with only seven modern detached villas filled with the soothing scent of wood. Above all, the dining was outstanding: a roughly two-hour Japanese creative course that perfectly matched the modern atmosphere of this Accommodation. We could truly feel the chef’s skill, and it was a blissful time that passed in no time. It’s on the pricier side for us, but with great Facilities and staff, it was a trip that made us feel glad we splurged. It’s also close to Dogo Onsen Honkan; we lined up before 6:00 a.m. the next morning and finally soaked in our long-awaited “deep bath” for the first time in 25 years—pure happiness!!

    Everything was excellent.

    The staff, including the receptionist, the person guiding us to the Room, and those serving meals, were not many in number but provided exceptional service, allowing us to have a wonderful time. The food was truly delicious—not only for adults but also for children—and our kids were extremely satisfied. The flavors of the ingredients were well-highlighted, making every dish delightful. The miso soup and tofu at breakfast are unforgettable. We would love to visit again. Thank you very much!

    Overall, I was satisfied.

    As the name "Hagakure" suggests, it was a bit tricky to find the location... truly hidden in the leaves (haha). The room bath was advertised as "flowing Onsen," but since each room has a limited amount of Onsen water, it seems continuous flow wasn't possible, which was a bit disappointing. Also, while the Suntory Whisky (Taketsuru) was absolutely delicious, I would have appreciated more attention to the ice—perhaps using visually appealing cracked ice. Looking forward to another opportunity to visit!

    Thank you for your patronage.

    Although I was initially concerned due to the limited number of reviews, the location was excellent, just a 5-minute walk from the center of Dogo Onsen. The service, room design, and meals were all outstanding. I would love to stay here again when visiting Dogo. The guest rooms offered free drinks and delightful Dogo Onsen sweets. However, if I may suggest, enhancing amenities tailored for women in this onsen destination could make it even better. Thank you for your hospitality during my stay!

    It exceeded expectations.

    Among the many hotels in Dogo, I thoroughly researched and decided to stay at this hotel. It was my first time using this property, but I was satisfied with everything, including the staff's welcome at the parking lot, the cleanliness of the guest room, and the breakfast. Although it is a bit of a distance from Dogo Onsen Honkan, it is not a bothersome distance when enjoying the town of Dogo. I used the breakfast-included plan, but I think it is a hotel where you can also expect a good dinner. I would like to use it again when I come to Dogo Onsen. Thank you very much.
