Yamanote Villa Hagakure

A bright, spacious Room with high ceilings.Surrounded by greenery, we could even hear Japanese bush warblers—it was a wonderful hidden retreat.The carefully prepared dishes made with local ingredients were delicious, and we finished everything.The dried horse mackerel served at breakfast—also used in space food—was so tender we could eat it right down to the bones, a flavor we had never experienced before.When we visit Dogo Onsen again, we would love to stay here once more.

We stayed in two Rooms, with two people in each.Each detached Room had a different style of garden, and it was a pleasure to compare them during our stay. The cypress bath in the Room was also easy and comfortable to use, as we were given a careful explanation of how to set the water temperature.The meals were French-style kaiseki—beautifully presented and truly delicious.This time we visited with family members celebrating their 80th and 90th birthdays. We were a little concerned about mobility, but the staff member in charge of our Room was very kind, and we were escorted around the grounds by cart. We are grateful for such thoughtful care.A Japanese bush warbler even came to the garden by our Room and treated us to its lovely song. We were also able to use the large public bath at an adjacent affiliated Hotel, which allowed our family to relax together.This is an Accommodation I would recommend to anyone seeking a quiet stay. I hope to visit again.
