I had a luxurious time.
I had a relaxing and luxurious time at a new Property that just opened last November, which I had been looking forward to visiting. The Room I chose this time was called ZEN-II, featuring a tatami living area. There was also a large sofa around the tatami, making it a perfect Room for unwinding and relaxing. Additionally, the arrangement of furniture themed around the local culture was very charming, creating a space where you could also feel a sense of art. Breakfast was served at the neighboring Facility, where I enjoyed a traditional Japanese breakfast. The seating offered a wonderful view of the Kuzuryu River and surrounding mountains, and the meal was made with plenty of local ingredients, allowing me to experience the season. I was delighted to have the option to either enjoy my coffee there after the meal or take it back to the Room to relax. I soaked in the flowing hot spring bath and spent a leisurely time in the beautiful Room, which made for a truly blissful experience. I would definitely love to stay here again if I have the chance!

I heard that Fukui i...
I heard that Fukui is often cloudy, but fortunately, it was sunny on the second day as well, and it was comfortable just sitting on the terrace. Even though it was a terrace, it had large windows, so even someone like me who is not fond of insects could spend time there comfortably. The semi-open-air onsen attached to all the rooms had a good flow from the shower room. In other properties, I sometimes felt that the flow from the shower room to the onsen was not good due to the room layout, but I think Kankakuen had a perfect flow in both the first and second night rooms. After dinner on the second day, I went to the bar and was able to hear various stories, so I roughly decided on a plan for the next time I go to Fukui. I had never used a bar at a travel destination before, but I think those staying at Kankakuen should definitely try it. I think the staff at Kankakuen have a hard time, but they were very helpful in quickly providing a car even for short distances. With this level of service, I felt more confident about bringing my parents with bad legs, which was a good option to have. If there is an opportunity, I would like my parents to spend time at this wonderful property. All the staff were fresh, and I felt like I received energy from them. The service was not overly formal, and the conversations at a comfortable distance were pleasant for me. Thank you for the warm hospitality, such as welcoming us during dinner time even in the cold. The bakery inside Eshikoto had very delicious croissants. After buying them in the morning and liking them, I went back in the afternoon to buy more, but they were sold out and the shop was closed, so I recommend going to the bakery early. The lunch I had at Yamaya was delicious, not only the main soba but also all the other dishes. This has become quite long, but there are many places to enjoy, so if possible, I recommend a multiple night stay!

As I had a Multiple ...
As I had a Multiple Night Stay, I will post separately for the first and second days. The Room was very spacious, and the sunlight from the terrace made it pleasantly warm even during this season without needing to turn on the heater. Regarding the meals, everything served was truly delicious. During dinner, I was amazed by the professional insight in noticing my food preferences and making changes accordingly, and I was deeply moved by their thoughtfulness. The dessert, which can only be enjoyed in winter, was unlike any mizuyokan I had ever tasted before, and it was incredibly delicious. Having dinner at the counter while chatting with the staff is one of the highlights of the trip, and it became a very good memory. The breakfast enjoyed while gazing at the Kuzuryu River was so delicious that I wished I could eat it every day. After dinner on the first day, I was tired from traveling, so I didn't go to the bar and instead returned to the Room to relax.

It was a property where you could enjoy the fine sake and cuisine of Kokuryu.
This time, we stayed in the ZEN1 Room with the standard course to enjoy the blessings of Echizen and seasonal flavors. We were satisfied with everything: the Room, dinner, breakfast, the semi-open-air bath of the Room's Onsen, and the courteous staff. In particular, the pairing of Kokuryu sake and Japanese cuisine from En was excellent. The main dish was fugu, but all the dishes and sake were delicious and exceeded our expectations. There were many dishes, and the small bowl of Fukui cuisine at the end went well with rice, leaving us full. When you open the entrance to the Room, there is a courtyard in front of you, with beautiful light pouring in. Every time we stepped into the entrance, we felt glad to have come because of its charm. The Room is equipped with floor heating, so we didn't feel cold even in chilly seasons, and we enjoyed the Onsen multiple times without getting chilled. When you open the bath window, you can see the mountains in the distance, and the cold air makes the hot Onsen feel even more pleasant, making it a bath where you want to open the window and soak. We would like to visit again to enjoy Kokuryu sake and En's cuisine.

A one-of-a-kind Stays where you can enjoy a luxurious moment.
I stayed for the first time at the much-talked-about auberge "Kankukuen ESHIKOTO," opened by Kokuryu Sake Brewery on November 26th last year. Upon arrival, the staff provided a very detailed and courteous guide to the Room during check-in. They were very pleasant, allowing us to enter the Stays comfortably. This time, I stayed in the JOU-I Room. The interior and amenities of the Room showed a dedication to detail, with a perfect blend of traditional Japanese and modern sensibilities. The welcome sweets and drinks in the Room were all locally sourced from Fukui, adding a sense of story. The semi-open-air Onsen attached to each Room is also excellent. I was able to relax by soaking in the Onsen every time I returned to the Room. At the restaurant "Japanese Cuisine En," I enjoyed the standard course featuring the blessings of Echizen and seasonal flavors. The seasonal fugu and sake from Kokuryu Sake Brewery were a perfect match. Additionally, for Kokuryu fans, there is an incredibly delightful perk: a lineup of limited-edition sake such as Ishidaya, Nizaemon, Shizuku, and Hachijuhachigo, which can be savored in a pairing course. After dining at the restaurant, you can enjoy an adult moment at "Bar Toki." Here, I tried a 5-year barrel-aged spirit (not yet available from Kokuryu). There are three types: Sakura, Nara, and Kuri, each with different flavors and tastes. Just hearing the explanation from the master makes you want to try them all. It has a profound taste and is one of the drinks you should definitely try when staying at the auberge. Breakfast is at "acoya" within ESHIKOTO. It's a short distance from the auberge, so we walked there as the weather was nice. All the ingredients used are local, and both the taste and quantity are satisfying. It's a breakfast that makes you want to come back for more. Next time, I plan to visit in the summer for SUP activities on the Kuzuryu River. I'm looking forward to it as the meal content is said to change.
