    Recommended accommodation.

    I stayed for two nights with my husband. The room, service, and bath were all very clean and comfortable, making our stay enjoyable. The food was especially remarkable, not only for its delicious taste but also for the beauty of the dishes that enhanced the dining experience visually as well as gastronomically. This accommodation has become one of my top three places with the best cuisine. The public bath is not very large but is well-maintained, and it was clear that great care had been taken in providing quality amenities like hair dryers and shampoos. Additionally, at the free drink corner, there were nostalgic records available to play while enjoying your drink—a delightful touch. Since there seems to be a focus on wine here, I would love to see further enhancements in related services or guidance in this area if possible. Thank you very much. I hope to stay again!

    From the moment we e...

    From the moment we entered the accommodation, we felt warm care and consideration for my mother (who uses a wheelchair), and we are truly grateful. We chose a room with an open-air bath, and it was very comfortable. We enjoyed the open-air bath multiple times. The large public bath was also well-maintained and very relaxing. The shower chair was greatly appreciated. However, one disappointing aspect was the delay in meal service. In the evening, there was a long wait after the appetizer, and in the morning, rice and miso soup did not arrive until we called reception. Although they brought it immediately after our call, there were only three portions for our group of four people. It seemed like they redirected another table's order to us as they mentioned bringing one more portion soon; however, it arrived only after we had finished eating. Everything else about this accommodation was excellent, which made the delay in meal service even more unfortunate. That said, I am very satisfied overall! Next time I plan to visit with my husband as well. Thank you for your thoughtful care towards my mother—it is truly a wonderful accommodation!

    The entire facility ...

    The entire facility features tatami flooring, allowing you to walk barefoot, and offers a cozy atmosphere with chairs arranged around the garden for relaxation. The staff are friendly and welcoming with warm smiles, and the Onsen provides perfectly soothing hot water. The dinner featuring Yamagata beef was incredibly delicious, with generous portions that left us fully satisfied.

    Having a private roo...

    Having a private room for meals was very helpful as we had small children. We thoroughly enjoyed the meals, the bath, and the room, making it an even more fulfilling stay than expected. The shuttle service to the station was also convenient since we had a lot of luggage. We would love to visit again during the autumn foliage season.

    Excellent

    We chose this accommodation with a great reputation to enjoy an onsen getaway as a couple after a long time, and it truly exceeded our expectations! The entire facility is tatami-floored (even up to the baths!), allowing us to relax as if we were at home without worrying about footwear. The lighting in the room had an adorable and soft design that was so soothing just to look at. Such thoughtful details were wonderful. The onsen water was smooth and incredibly pleasant, so we enjoyed it multiple times. Meals focused on local ingredients and were absolutely delicious. We explored various parts of the accommodation, and not a speck of dust could be found anywhere—everything was impeccably clean, showing exceptional attention to detail. In the large public bath's changing area, even a robot vacuum cleaner regularly kept things tidy. Additionally, we appreciated the thoughtful gesture of upgrading our room grade during this stay, making it truly memorable. We would love to visit again in another season!

    It was a wonderful accommodation.

    I stayed for one night on Friday and Saturday. Everything was wonderful, from the ambiance of the lobby, customer service, to the hot coffee service. However, the highlights were definitely the cuisine and the bath. The broth in particular was so carefully prepared that even I, as an amateur, could taste its exceptional flavor. Because of this delicious broth, every dish was outstanding—absolutely perfect! Even my usually critical husband said it was one of the best accommodations we've ever stayed at. The bath had gentle water and was very pleasant as well. Thank you also for upgrading our room. It was an accommodation that left us completely satisfied!

    We were very grateful for the flexibility in Shuttle Service timing to suit our needs. Delivering a forgotten item to Tendo Station six hours after check-out was truly exceptional service. The meals were delicious, and even after cherry-picking in the morning, we almost finished our breakfast. The reputation of Tsuruya's excellent cuisine was well-deserved. The Hotel staff were kind and provided outstanding hospitality, making our stay highly satisfying. Thank you for your care and wonderful service!

    The food was very delicious. I enjoyed local dishes from Yamagata Prefecture and was very satisfied. Especially the Akegarashi went perfectly with rice. The Room's bath was also spacious and comfortable.

    The hot springs and meals are exceptional.

    The most memorable aspect was the amazing meals. Each dish was beautifully presented on stylish and unique tableware, enhancing the flavors even more. The seared Spanish mackerel sashimi was particularly delicious and impressive. The space with a kotatsu overlooking the garden in front of the room was also wonderful, and the staff provided excellent hospitality, which we greatly appreciated. We also enjoyed visiting the nearby Onsen at Takinoyu, which added to our experience.

    The food was delicious, and everything was simply perfect...!! Personally, even the kids' meals were very tasty (I couldn't resist taking a bite, haha), which earned high points from me. We'll definitely be back. Next time, I’d love to bring my parents along. Thank you for your warm hospitality despite our children being a bit noisy at times!

    The hospitality of the hotel staff was truly wonderful, making it a great trip. I have stayed at various luxury hotels before, but I believe the hospitality here is on par with those high-end accommodations. Highly recommended hotel!

    Lovely Onsen Accommodation

    It was a lovely Onsen accommodation. However, since I made a last-minute reservation during Golden Week with only one room left, I couldn't choose the room type, which is why I rated it 4 stars. Specifically, the noise from neighboring rooms and the usability due to the layout of the toilet and sink were minor issues. Aside from the room, the large public bath was bright, clean, and comfortable with no sense of age at all—it even included modern amenities like robot vacuums and Dyson hair dryers. However, towels were only provided as part of a set in a basket for use in the public bath. It would have been more convenient if separate face and hand towels were available for use in the room for activities like washing up or relaxing. Other than that, meals were served in beautiful private dining rooms where we could relax fully. The food was delicious with excellent presentation and satisfying portions. The tatami-floored interior also featured thoughtful touches such as a free drink station near the lobby—subtle yet elegant hospitality that felt very comfortable. The attentive service allowed us to enjoy our stay pleasantly. Next time, I hope to visit with enough time to select my preferred room type!

    Everything was excellent.

    Even though there seemed to be many guests, we hardly encountered anyone and were able to relax thoroughly. The food, tableware, and sake were all excellent, and the hospitality was attentive and impressive. I would love to visit again.

    Excellent Accommodation

    I have visited various Onsen in Yamagata, but this was an overall excellent accommodation. I would definitely like to stay here again.

    The entire Ryokan is...

    The entire Ryokan is covered with tatami mats, so no need for slippers—very comfortable. The room is spacious, perfect for relaxing on the tatami. The addition of a Yogibo is also a nice touch. Facilities and artworks are carefully selected with great attention to detail. Enjoying a beer and reading a book while sitting at the kotatsu in front of the room, overlooking the garden, is pure bliss. The meals are excellent—from the initial fruit juice to appetizers, sashimi, sukiyaki, soba noodles, imoni stew, and tamakon—all perfectly prepared without any odd dishes. It's rare to find this level of quality at a Ryokan. Pairing it with Asahitaka sake makes it simply outstanding. The Onsen water feels silky smooth with a subtle pleasant aroma and just the right temperature—not too hot—allowing for leisurely soaks. The outdoor bath offers an intimate space where you can enjoy birdsong and cherry blossoms—a perfect setting for relaxation. While the BGM features traditional Japanese instruments like wagoto (Japanese harp), quieter classical music or jazz—or even no music—might be preferable for most guests. Staff members are mostly young and vibrant; their training and treatment seem well-managed based on their demeanor. An exceptional Ryokan experience that makes leaving feel unnecessary—you'll want to endlessly alternate between soaking in the bath and relaxing afterward! Far better than crowded Onsen resorts elsewhere!

    A simple yet tasteful and warm, comfortable space.

    Subtle touches like Tendo Mokko chairs, Dyson hairdryers in the bathroom, and a cozy space with a kotatsu and chairs to enjoy tea while gazing at the garden reflect excellent taste and thoughtfulness. The meals were not extravagant or made with luxury ingredients, but every dish was delicious. The Onsen had no color or scent, but the soft water gently warmed my body, relieved my fatigue, and helped me sleep well. The bathroom floor was tatami-style, making it non-slip and safe for small children. It was also very clean. I even ended up buying souvenirs I wouldn't normally purchase—chopsticks I liked from dinner for myself and cherry-shaped chopstick rests as gifts. Although it's not a new building, it is impeccably cleaned and maintained. Above all, the staff's hospitality stood out—they were kind without being overbearing. Their warmth truly embodied this accommodation's essence. It was an incredibly happy stay without a single unpleasant moment. Considering this level of satisfaction at this price point makes it an exceptional value. I've stayed at more luxurious accommodations before but have never felt so relaxed and fulfilled. I definitely want to come back again.

    It was an excellent trip.

    The room was a Japanese-style room for 5 people, but since there were only 2 of us, it was very spacious, clean, and well-maintained. The futons were laid out for us during dinner, and I was glad we chose a Japanese-style room. Upon arriving at the property, we wanted to relax in the onsen first, so we scheduled dinner for the latest time. It was my first time seeing tatami mats in the washing area, which was surprising, but it was non-slip and not cold. There were both indoor and outdoor baths, and the temperature was just right, clean, and perfect. We also used the onsen before bed and before breakfast, and it was not crowded at all. Dinner was served in a private room, which was very spacious, allowing us to enjoy it leisurely. The meal had a wide variety of dishes, served in beautiful tableware, and everything was delicious. We chose the shabu-shabu with premium Yamagata beef as the main dish in a Japanese-style course, which also included two types of Shonai pork, sashimi, and local sake, all of which were excellent. Breakfast was also served in the same private room, with a clear layout and a variety of side dishes. I tried Yamagata's akegarashi for the first time, which was delicious, and I had a second helping of rice. The chopsticks were thin and easy to use, and when I mentioned this, I was informed that they were sold at the front desk, so I purchased them at checkout. The staff's service was very polite, warm, and healing in every aspect. It was my first time at Tendo Onsen, but I'm glad I chose Hohoemi no Sora Yubune Tsuruya. If I have the opportunity to visit Tendo Onsen again, I would love to stay there. Thank you very much for everything.

    A trip with my mother

    I had visited Tendo several times, but this was my first visit to Tsuruya. The entire building, even the bath in the Room, was covered with tatami mats, which was truly comfortable and heartwarming. Also, the staff greeted us with smiles, which warmed our hearts and made for a very satisfying trip. I was deeply impressed by the attentive staff. Thank you very much.
