Stayed on the day of...
Stayed on the day of the fireworks festival. Although there was no prior information as it was the first fireworks festival since opening, I was able to enjoy a perfect view from the room, which made me very satisfied. Even without that, this accommodation is located in a prime spot right in the heart of Nagasaki's tourist area. The building is an authentic historical structure with stylish interiors reflecting international hotel quality. The service team matches this high standard perfectly. Breakfast may look like a set meal at first glance, but since you can have unlimited refills, it's practically a buffet! This year I could stay at a reasonable price probably because it just opened, but I feel like it'll be more expensive next year!

Charming Western-Style Hotel
I decided to stay at this accommodation in Nagasaki after being captivated by the beauty of its Western-style exterior and interior. Upon staying, I was impressed not only by the stunning architecture but also by the excellent hospitality of the staff. This hotel beautifully expresses Nagasaki's exotic atmosphere in a modern way, allowing me to experience a new side of Nagasaki. I would love to stay here again when visiting Nagasaki in the future. Although I saw some reviews mentioning that breakfast portions were small, I personally found them adequate (this may vary depending on individual preferences).

Spend a wonderful time in an elegant Western-style mansion.
This hotel, operated under the Indigo brand of the InterContinental Group, is located in a former building of Maria Children's Home purchased by Mori Trust. Situated near Glover Garden and Oura Church with stunning views of Nagasaki's sea, it offers a unique combination of resort-like surroundings, vibrant Indigo interiors, and a red-brick structure that may be considered an important cultural property. The hotel's distinctive atmosphere perfectly complements the diverse culture of Nagasaki, providing guests with a memorable and relaxing experience. Details: The guest room amenities reflect IHG quality—cost-effective yet luxurious. The value for money exceeded expectations (cosmetics are from Sekkisei; preferences may vary, but the hairdryer is Refa). Service was exceptional; staff were polite and sincere despite being relatively new due to the recent opening. Thank you for your hospitality! The bathroom had excellent water pressure and flow—no complaints there. Facilities were as wonderful as described earlier. However, meals were disappointing—the breakfast omelet was left unfinished. While I initially considered rating it 3 points due to this aspect alone, my overall satisfaction led me to give 4 points instead. Note: The steep slopes in Nagasaki mean those without much stamina might need taxis to get around (the hotel covers taxi shuttle service costs from Nagasaki Station). Despite this inconvenience, staying here allowed us to enjoy privileges like catching breathtaking sunsets at Glover Garden just before its closing time at 8 PM (with an admission ticket included in certain plans). Highly recommended for those interested!

The Room was different from what I imagined.
I have been traveling and staying at accommodations registered as tangible cultural properties and classic hotels across the whole country. This time, I was excited to stay at a hotel renovated from the brick building "Maria Garden," which has about 130 years of history, ever since its opening. However, the "Premium Twin Main Building" room I reserved on IKYU.com was different from the image in the photos and felt much smaller than expected. There was almost no space to place luggage, except for squeezing it under the wardrobe (excluding sofa and table). The room itself was stylish but cramped and inconvenient to use. The toilet had no door, making it uncomfortable. The bathroom seemed designed for foreigners; using the shower was difficult, and I wished there were at least a bath bucket and stool available. The breakfast venue I had been looking forward to featured beautiful stained glass windows; however, aside from the main egg dish, there were hardly any edible options—it felt quite plain overall. A nearby hotel booked through Japanet offered breakfast that cost about one-third of this price yet provided far more variety and tastier options by far. For dinner, there were no nearby dining options available; since meals at this hotel were expensive as well, we ended up settling for convenience store rice balls out of necessity. Access is inconvenient unless visiting Glover Garden specifically; overall, it did not feel worth its price point—especially given my high expectations—and left me disappointed. It seems like a fully renovated boutique hotel catering more towards young people or foreigners rather than being suitable for mature couples like us.

I had a wonderful experience at the Hotel filled with exotic charm.
Less than a 10-minute taxi ride from Nagasaki Station, the Hotel is easy to reach. Upon entering the premises, you are greeted by the charming appearance of a building originally constructed in 1881 as a children's welfare facility called "Maria-en," now beautifully renovated into a Hotel. The stylish exterior retains its historical charm and blends perfectly with Nagasaki's atmosphere, known for its many Western-style buildings. The Rooms feature intricate designs that incorporate Japanese, European, and Chinese elements, reflecting the unique Wa-Ka-Ran culture of Nagasaki. Simply staying in the Room was an enjoyable experience. With only a limited number of Rooms available, there was no sense of overcrowding with other guests—making it an ideal choice for those seeking special moments in peace and quiet. One highlight is undoubtedly the restaurant. The interior design repurposes an old church with stunning stained glass windows that cast beautiful light inside, creating a serene ambiance. We opted for a course meal this time and enjoyed every dish from appetizers to soup to mains. The staff were incredibly kind and shared fascinating stories about Nagasaki's history and food culture through each dish served—offering insights beyond what guidebooks can provide—and we left feeling deeply satisfied. Breakfast was served semi-buffet style with box-type plates to choose from; the omelet was particularly delicious. Check-out was handled courteously as well, allowing us to enjoy our stay comfortably until the very end. Although it was just one night this time around, I would love to return here on my next visit to Nagasaki. A heartfelt thank you to all the staff who provided such wonderful hospitality during our stay!

A "Serene" Hotel in Nagasaki Utilizing Cultural Heritage, Worth Visiting Again and Again
I planned a trip to Nagasaki and discovered a newly opened hotel renovated from a traditional building on an accommodation reservation site, which made me excited to make the reservation. On the day of my stay, I walked along cobblestone streets and arrived at the hotel, greeted by its red brick structure with arched windows and angel statues reminiscent of the former Maria Garden. This heightened my expectations even more. At the lobby, I was warmly welcomed by staff with bright smiles, which instantly put me at ease. The hotel's lobby was bathed in gentle sunlight streaming through its windows, creating a serene and calm atmosphere. After completing check-in procedures, I was guided to my room where detailed explanations about the room and facilities were provided. I had reserved a room in the North Wing (new building), offering stunning views of Nagasaki Port and Mount Inasa from its window. The scenery was breathtaking both during daytime and nighttime when luxury cruise ships illuminated the port beautifully. The room's decor featured harmonious tones inspired by Japanese, Chinese, and Western styles with an interesting touch—a folding screen depicting Nagasaki's culture. The furniture exuded elegance not commonly found in other accommodations. The bathroom offered three shower settings for enjoyment while its bathtub filled effortlessly without stress—allowing me to stretch out fully for ultimate relaxation. What stood out most was how quiet it felt; this "tranquil space" combined with high-quality pillows and moderately firm beds ensured deep sleep that completely rejuvenated me after traveling fatigue. The next morning brought one of my highlights: breakfast served within an extraordinary restaurant housed inside what used to be a chapel—a unique solemn setting enhanced further by high ceilings adorned with stained glass filtering morning sunlight beautifully over delicious dishes prepared using local ingredients creatively crafted under careful attention from chefs—making everything taste even better thanks largely due partly because being immersed within such special surroundings! However unfortunately missed opportunity trying their Afternoon Tea service starting only April onwards wished could’ve experienced savoring amidst same ambiance earlier instead! Nearby attractions like Glover Garden & Oura Church are conveniently located close enough leisurely explore thoroughly before returning back enjoying peaceful moments spent relaxing amidst tranquil gardens surrounding property itself truly making most memorable stays ever encountered thus far already looking forward future visits again soon surely! Finally returned home leisurely via tramway route stopping briefly souvenir shopping along way passing through stations including Oura Church Station transferring onto Shinchi Chinatown Station eventually reaching final destination arriving safely back Nagasaki Station end journey altogether feeling contented fulfilled overall experience entire trip altogether!

The room and amenities were wonderful, making for a satisfying day! It seems the garden maintenance is still in progress. Looking forward to it!

A one-of-a-kind Hotel filled with exotic charm.
I stayed for sightseeing, and the Hotel was adorned with elements of Japanese, Chinese, and Western cultures throughout, which enhanced the travel experience. The restaurant especially stood out as it utilized a former cathedral space, allowing guests to enjoy an extraordinary atmosphere surrounded by sparkling stained glass. The Room was furnished with tasteful decor that was not overly extravagant but provided a calm and relaxing ambiance. Although it is slightly distant from Nagasaki Station, it only took about 10 minutes by taxi to reach the Hotel. It is also close to Glover Garden and offers a unique international charm that cannot be experienced around Nagasaki Station. The staff were very kind and accommodating, so I plan to stay here again when I visit Nagasaki next time.

Stayed at this hotel, which opened just three months ago. A must-know accommodation for those who haven't visited yet. From the moment of arrival, the brick-built Western-style architecture caught my eye, and stepping inside revealed a sophisticated interior and delightful aroma that captivated me. After receiving a warm welcome and detailed guidance at the front desk, I headed to the North Wing via an outdoor corridor. The view from there offered a different depth compared to the exterior, showcasing various charming aspects of the building's design. The room featured a unique design inspired by Japanese, Chinese, and Dutch cultures, creating an elegant atmosphere unlike any other accommodation. The colors and patterns in elements like the bed's folding screen, bathroom area, drink corner, and bath were distinctive—offering an exotic ambiance while staying within the hotel. The time spent at the restaurant was particularly special. Once a former chapel with high dome ceilings surrounded by stained glass windows—it provided an unparalleled sense of openness as well as uniqueness among restaurants; truly worth seeing! The course meal incorporated Japanese-Chinese-Dutch elements into every dish—each reflecting meticulous attention from their chef. The signature cocktail used rare locally-produced gin available only in limited quantities—a refreshing drink that complemented rather than overshadowed each dish perfectly. For breakfast I chose Japanese cuisine; while some may find fewer options available compared to expectations—all dishes were delicious nonetheless! Perhaps offering additional choices (e.g., both Japanese & Western-style boxes for extra charge) could enhance variety-seekers' experiences further? Both morning/evening service explanations were thorough—with staff sharing insights about menu highlights or decor details—showcasing pride they take working here passionately throughout interactions felt genuinely heartfelt overall! Personally imagining enjoying afternoon tea someday within such setting sounds ideal too! Special thanks go towards front desk team members who kindly accommodated my pollen allergy struggles thoughtfully during stay itself sincerely appreciated beyond words entirely grateful altogether toward everyone involved making visit memorable positively impactful end-to-end experience indeed!

A beautifully renova...
A beautifully renovated historic building turned into a stunning Hotel—truly impressive! The staff kindly explained the history and background, making our stay even more memorable. Breakfast at the restaurant, which was once a cathedral, was absolutely delicious, and the light streaming through the stained glass was simply breathtaking. The female staff member who assisted us was exceptional as well. Thank you for all your thoughtful care; we truly appreciated it!

Stay at a lovely Western-style house
After touring Glover Garden, climb the steep slope along the wall to find a charming brick Western-style building! (The local guard who explained the location said he liked the face of the "Maria statue" at the front) "Indigo Nagasaki," where you can imagine Nagasaki's history, is a very calm boutique hotel. From the room window, you can enjoy views of Nagasaki Port, large passenger ships, port cranes, and beautiful night scenery... I spent my time leisurely looking through frosted glass while my husband used the gym comfortably. Breakfast is enjoyed slowly and quietly inside a chapel with shining stained glass. It's truly a wonderful place; I thought it would be convenient if there were options like "one-shot cocktail sets" at night as a bar. Before our stay, we received an email from the hotel with information about parking and other details; their response was quick. The staff were cheerful and left a very good impression on us. Our trip became enjoyable with both the Nagasaki Lantern Festival and this lovely hotel. Thank you very much.

A Hotel filled with the culture of Japanese, Chinese, and Dutch, and overflowing with hospitality wrapped in smiles!
Dear Staff of Hotel Indigo Nagasaki Glover Street, I was truly moved by the warm hospitality I received during my stay. Not only was the exterior and interior of the Hotel remarkable, but the smiles and attentive care of the staff made me feel truly happy throughout my stay. The sparkling night view from the upgraded Room's balcony, as well as the refreshing morning sun, were delightful, and the playful amenities with cat motifs made for a soothing stay. Thank you for your consideration regarding the parking. I was able to enjoy Nagasaki freely with my car, coming and going from the Hotel multiple times. The fish dish I had for dinner at the main dining was very delicious, and breakfast was served in a quiet atmosphere with the sparkle of stained glass, where the staff always greeted me with a smile and attentive service. They also accommodated my orders for Eggs Benedict and chamomile tea. On the second day, I had a Japanese breakfast, which featured delicious Nagasaki ingredients beautifully packed in a small box, making for a truly wonderful dining experience. The staff's constant smiles and willingness to meet my requests made me feel relaxed and at ease. Many people have already spoken about the excellence of this Hotel, so I will leave the details to them. I just wanted to express my gratitude. Thank you very, very much. I definitely hope to visit again.

A beautiful Hotel renovated from a Western-style building from the Meiji period in Nagasaki.
The Indigo brand hotel, which opened in mid-December, was converted and renovated from the building of the "Maria-en" children's welfare facility in Nagasaki Minamiyamate, which has a history of 130 years. As a brand-new hotel that has been open for just over three weeks, we anticipated various discrepancies, but the building and facility hardware were completed without defects, and the service from the front desk and staff was attentive and kind, resulting in a high-quality boutique hotel. The French-style building of Sentenfance (Seiei-in) built in 1898 (Meiji 31) was transformed into a hotel with the restrained and tasteful sense characteristic of the Indigo chain by keeping the facade almost intact and adding a new annex and interior touches. The beds in the guest rooms are believed to be made by Simmons, with firm and comfortable mattresses, and the size of the sofas and tables is optimal. The bathroom facilities and fixtures are impeccable, and there are plenty of still-new, high-quality towels available. This mini-hotel of this size has a proper fitness gym, which I used daily during my stay. The main dining room, converted from a chapel, is an impressive space, and I was struck by the beauty of the stained glass. I think that if the à la carte menu were a little more extensive, it could satisfy guests who come solely for the dining experience. From the gatepost of the hotel grounds to the front desk, lobby, elevator hall, and guest rooms, all advertisements and promotional materials have been eliminated, creating a clean and beautiful environment. It is very nice that there are no tourist or wedding advertisements and printed materials, which are common in local hotels in Japan. I hope they will continue to maintain this pride.

A wonderful Hotel has been born by renovating a historic Western-style building in Nagasaki Minamiyamate.
I live in Nagasaki City. Since I heard the news that Mori Trust was renovating the old Maria Garden building to open a hotel, I was looking forward to seeing which brand it would be. The hotel that opened is IHG's Indigo! The fifth hotel in Japan has entered Nagasaki. So, I immediately made a reservation for a room in the main building with breakfast on IKYU and also reserved dinner from the hotel site to visit at the end of the year. Of course, the view and livability from the port-side room were good, and I was able to enjoy my stay in the old settlement area. The meal at the restaurant, which was renovated from the old chapel, was also a wonderful experience with great tasting dishes. I particularly liked the innovative dinner course, which was based on French cuisine using Nagasaki ingredients. Therefore, I decided to revisit for lunch on New Year's Eve. The hoteliers were all sophisticated, so I believe there are those with luxury hospitality experience. It is a hotel that I would definitely recommend to those coming to Nagasaki from both domestic and international locations! Thank you very much.
