    A Premium Stay

    Although it is a bit far from the nearest public transportation, the location is quiet and within walking distance of Glover Garden and Oura Cathedral. It seems to have opened fairly recently, but the Hotel staff’s hospitality was outstanding. We had both breakfast and dinner, and the creative, innovative menus skillfully blended Western and Japanese flavors with excellent quality. The restaurant also appears to be available even if you are not staying overnight, so it’s a great option to consider for your stay or dining in Nagasaki.

    A Hotel You’ll Love in Nagasaki

    I stayed here on my first trip to Nagasaki. I felt a little uneasy after calling in advance, but the actual stay turned out to be wonderful! From our sea-facing Room in the North Wing, we were able to relax and watch the Minato Festival fireworks straight ahead, which was very satisfying. We could also see the Belon competition. With the large windows, the Room felt more spacious than it actually was. The staff’s service and smiles showed genuine care in making our stay better, and we were able to spend our time comfortably. The Nagasaki sweets served daily with loquat tea in the lounge are a delightful touch and helpful when choosing souvenirs. The on-site activities, such as the building tour and poppen painting, became a great opportunity to learn about Nagasaki’s culture and history thanks to the staff who guided us. I think this is a wonderful Hotel that makes your stay in Nagasaki truly memorable.

    It was a wonderful stay!

    I truly believe our enjoyable stay in Nagasaki was thanks to everyone at the Hotel. We were delighted by the warm hospitality at both arrival and departure, as well as the thoughtful, understated attentiveness during afternoon tea. Because it is close to Glover Garden and Oura Cathedral, we were able to visit right after opening when it was less crowded, taking our time to look closely and enjoy taking photos. The night view of Nagasaki from the courtyard was absolutely beautiful—we lost track of time. Of course, the wonderful Room and the taxi Shuttle Service were also excellent. This is a Hotel we would definitely love to visit again.

    I’d like to stay here again.

    All the staff were friendly and made a great impression. The Room where we had breakfast also had a unique atmosphere, as it is a Facility converted from a chapel. However, perhaps from a resource-saving perspective, there was only one body towel provided (we requested an extra one and it was brought to our Room), so I would appreciate it if you could consider this in the future. I would like to stay again if I have the opportunity, including at your affiliated Hotel.

    A wonderful Hotel that blends historic architecture with modern design.

    We stayed as a group of four—two adults, one elementary-school-aged child, and my mother-in-law. This was a one-night stay during a 12-night trip around Kyushu. We booked two Rooms. ●Location A convenient location for sightseeing in Nagasaki, with Glover Garden and Oura Cathedral within walking distance. As it sits on a hill, the view over Nagasaki Port is also beautiful. Parking could be secured in advance (possibly because we had reserved a Suite), which was reassuring—though the number of spaces seems limited. ●Building A Hotel renovated from a former convent. While the exterior feels solid and historic, the interior is very modern with bold design choices. The contrast between the historic building and contemporary design left a strong impression. ●Rooms Both the Suite and Standard Double share a consistent design direction. The concept blends Japanese, Dutch, and Chinese influences; the balance of colors and materials is distinctive, and I was impressed by the designer’s sense of style that makes it all work. The Suite in particular has a very spacious bathroom, making it easy to relax. ●Breakfast Half-buffet style. The food itself was fairly standard Western fare, but the restaurant space is outstanding: high ceilings and beautiful stained glass that made us feel we were dining in what may have once been part of a church-like space. We wanted to have dinner at the Hotel as well, but since the menu didn’t seem kid-friendly, we ate out instead. ●Service There were welcome drinks in the shared area at check-in, plus welcome drinks in our Room (possibly only for Suites). It’s clearly an Accommodation with strong hospitality. Many staff members were international, but everyone was kind and helpful. At checkout we couldn’t find our car key; fortunately someone at reception knew cars well and helped us locate it—thank you very much. ●Overall satisfaction Overall satisfaction was very high. This was my second Indigo stay after Hakone; personally I found Nagasaki better both in terms of overall quality feel and location, so my satisfaction here was even higher. This stay also made me want to try Indigo properties in Inuyama or Karuizawa next time.

    A wonderful Hotel where you can experience the unique charm of Nagasaki

    Although I live locally, I had always wanted to stay here, so I chose it to celebrate my birthday. From the moment I entered the grounds, I was filled with excitement. The building’s exterior, the interior furnishings, and the view from the Room window—everything was wonderful, with a sense of history and Nagasaki’s distinctive international atmosphere. The meals were also excellent: carefully prepared dishes made with a focus on ingredients from Nagasaki, thoughtfully done without trying too hard to be flashy. Both dinner and breakfast were completely satisfying. All of the staff were consistently attentive, and I was able to spend a truly comfortable time here. Thank you very much. I would love to visit again.

    I would like to stay here again when I visit Nagasaki.

    This was my first trip to Nagasaki. The Hotel is located on a hill, and the view from the Room was wonderful—an excellent place to stay. We didn’t have dinner there, but breakfast was just the right amount for us as light eaters. The staff were very thoughtful and made us a delicious, strong coffee. I also appreciated that the coffee came with dairy cream rather than non-dairy creamer, and that the butter was French. We chose a Western-style breakfast on the first morning and a Japanese-style breakfast on the second, and we were satisfied with both. The bathtub and shower in the Room were easy to use, and the bed was very comfortable. The location was great as well, and I would like to stay here again when visiting Nagasaki. Thank you very much.

    Look Back on History

    On the first day of our trip to Nagasaki, it poured with rain, and after arriving at the Hotel we couldn’t go anywhere, which was a disappointing start. However, that meant we spent more time at the Hotel and truly enjoyed tea time and dinner in the restaurant that was once a chapel. We were very satisfied with the course meal, which beautifully showcased local ingredients with a creative touch. The next day cleared up completely, and after visiting Glover Garden and Oura Cathedral just a short walk away, we joined the Hotel tour. Although it was only the two of us participating as a couple, it was packed with fascinating stories about the building’s history and its days as Maria Garden. Thank you as well for taking so many photos for us. It was a 2-night, 3-day trip to Nagasaki, but what left the strongest impression after returning home was Indigo. We very much look forward to staying again when we have another chance.

    The stained glass is stunning.

    The highlights were the food and the stained glass in the dining venue, and the location was perfect for walking around. On the downside, there were a few lapses that didn’t feel like attentive service—for example, loungewear was not provided in the Room, there were no instructions for using the bathroom, and we had trouble with drainage. I would appreciate improvements in these areas.

    It was a very pleasant stay.

    The staff were incredibly attentive, helping with sightseeing advice and arranging taxis, which made our stay very comfortable. Breakfast was also thoughtfully prepared and delicious. There was a small amount of the previous guest’s trash left in the Room bin, but it seemed like an oversight, and everything else was perfect. I would definitely stay at this Hotel again next time.     A charming, character-filled building

    It was a stylish Hotel that beautifully preserved and made use of a monastery building built over 100 years ago. The Room was lovely, comfortable, and relaxing. The staff were also very helpful.

    I was able to relax.

    We stayed with our 18-month-old child. Upon arrival, they gave our child a bath ball and snacks, which kept our child in a great mood the whole time—we really appreciated it. The courtyard was spacious, and we enjoyed a pleasant evening while looking out over the harbor. The meals were delicious, made with a variety of carefully selected local ingredients.

    I visited this long-awaited Hotel from Tokyo. The Room was easy to use, and the view was great. The lounge service also allowed me to relax, and I was satisfied. I chose the Japanese breakfast; it was delicious but a little lacking.

    It was a wonderful stay.

    I chose this property because it is close to Glover Garden and Oura Cathedral. The brick building has a wonderful atmosphere, and the former chapel has been converted into a restaurant—breakfast there, with sunlight streaming through the stained glass, feels truly special. The harbor is visible from the Room, and a large luxury cruise ship happened to arrive on different days, so I really enjoyed the view as well. The amenities were excellent, and the ReFa hair dryer was a welcome highlight for women. All of the staff were warm and welcoming, and their uniforms were lovely too. Thank you very much!

    We had a great time.

    We used the Plan with Taxi Shuttle Service and arrived comfortably from Nagasaki Station. We were shown to a spacious Room with a great view, and my son—who loves Hotels—was absolutely delighted. Breakfast offered a generous amount of appetizers, and we couldn’t finish the main dish, so we ended up leaving some. Since it’s within walking distance of Glover Garden and Oura Cathedral, it’s easy to visit early in the morning or in the evening. When my son was being noisy, staff kindly brought an snacks box to help calm him down, and thanks to their thoughtful care throughout our stay, we were able to relax comfortably. Thank you very much. Next time, we’d like to try the restaurant for dinner.

    New Year’s Party & Birthday Celebration

    Thank you very much for your kind hospitality the other day. Although we live in Nagasaki City, we found a great-value Plan and stayed with four close friends for a New Year’s gathering that also doubled as a birthday celebration. When making the Reservation, we mentioned that one of us would be celebrating a birthday, and we were amazed when we entered the Room. The Room had been decorated in a birthday theme using balloons and towels. In addition, you prepared a birthday dessert plate at dinner. All four of us were so happy and excited. This Plan was an excellent deal with complimentary drinks from the refrigerator, and since our Rooms were connecting, we enjoyed chatting late into the night. We are truly grateful to all of your staff. Thank you very much.

    Stay in Nagasaki surrounded by church architecture

    Stayed for my husband who loves church architecture. The accommodation included a shuttle service from the station, which was very helpful as it is within walking distance from the tram station but involves uphill paths. There are many attractions nearby, and we were able to visit Glover Garden illuminated in the evening. From our room window, we enjoyed views of Mount Inasa and the harbor, imagining the lives of foreigners who once lived in this area. The breakfast restaurant was a former chapel, which deeply impressed my husband. The meals exceeded expectations with their delicate flavors and deliciousness. Although we didn’t encounter any "bent-tail cats," their designs on coffee cup bottoms, amenity holders, and small plates included in our plan were delightful surprises. Previously stayed at a business accommodation near the station with similar pricing; however, when visiting Nagasaki again, I highly recommend choosing this hotel for its unique experience over mere convenience.

    Highly Satisfied

    A historic building, once a monastery, has been renovated and revived as a hotel... Ever since I saw it introduced on a famous TV program, I had dreamed of staying there someday. The exterior features the solid red brick structure from its original time, while both the public spaces and guest rooms exude an exotic blend of Dutch and Chinese influences with touches of Japanese aesthetics. The unique yet luxurious interior design is captivating. From furniture to lighting to flooring, every detail—down to the handles on chests—reflects meticulous attention to design, making my stay exciting throughout. The former chapel adorned with beautiful stained glass has been transformed into a restaurant. Dining under its high ceilings felt incredibly indulgent. Both dinner and breakfast were prepared using plenty of local ingredients; they were visually stunning and absolutely delicious. A hotel staff member recommended viewing the nightscape from Mount Nabekanmuri. Inspired by this tip, I decided to walk up to the observation deck for some exercise during my stay. Although it was more physically demanding than expected due to my lack of regular exercise, the breathtaking view at the top made all my fatigue disappear.     The view from the window is

    The historic building has been newly renovated, and overall, I thought it was wonderful. I was expecting to see the ocean from the Room, but the view was blocked by overgrown hedges outside the window. It’s a bit disappointing as I wondered if trimming them might have allowed a view even from the first floor.

    Stylish Room, but Issues with Meals

    The room design is indeed stylish, as expected from an international hotel, but it was too dark. As mentioned in other reviews, the mirror at the sink was also too dim, making it difficult to get ready. Personally, I found the six-course dinner portions to be far too small. Anticipating this, we called ahead and added à la carte items: two servings of clam chowder soup, one seafood citrus salad to share, and one side of French fries. However, the salad served was a green salad instead of what we had ordered over the phone. We didn’t mention it at that time but felt disappointed. Additionally, I found the à la carte menu prices excessively high—over 10,000 yen for two soups, one green salad (not as ordered), and one serving of French fries left me feeling uneasy. The breakfast offerings were also underwhelming for this price range in both Japanese and Western options. When using the quick checkout form provided in our room and handing it to a male staff member at reception upon departure, he confirmed payment with an American Express card despite us having already provided a different credit card during check-in. This could have led to a serious issue if not caught. Having stayed at another international hotel in Nagasaki city prior to this visit where both room quality and dining were exceptional heightened my disappointment here. That said, I must commend all staff members for their excellent hospitality throughout our stay—thank you very much!

    It was a wonderful trip!

    I chose Indigo Nagasaki without much thought, but it turned out to be very convenient as Glover Garden and Oura Church are within walking distance. The Room was clean, and above all, the dining area, which used to be a church with historic stained glass, created a wonderful atmosphere. The staff were incredibly kind and provided excellent hospitality, making my stay very pleasant! I would definitely want to stay here again on my next trip to Nagasaki!

    It was a wonderful Hotel.

    I stayed for 3 nights with my wife from October 1, 2025, to attend an international conference. About 40 years ago, I spent my student days in Nagasaki and often visited the Nanzan-te area where the Hotel is located. Among the buildings there, the former Maria-en was my favorite, and I have fond memories of visiting it several times during part-time jobs. It was truly moving to stay at this wonderful Hotel that has been beautifully transformed from Maria-en. We were upgraded to a room in the historic main building and had a very comfortable stay. At dinner in the restaurant converted from an old chapel, we enjoyed dishes made with plenty of Nagasaki ingredients. Looking back now, it must have been modern Shippoku cuisine! The staff member who attended our table was very attentive and made our time enjoyable as well. We are also grateful to all the staff who greeted us with smiles every time we entered or exited the Hotel. If we have another chance to visit Nagasaki, we would definitely like to stay here again. Thank you very much!

    Looking forward to welcoming you!

    The accommodation was clean and had lovely interior design. However, there were a few issues: ① No light in the closet: It was difficult to choose clothes. ② The lighting on the bathroom mirror created shadows: Although there was a light on the large mirror, it was positioned behind, making my face appear dark and unsuitable for makeup application. ③ Lack of surfaces to place items: The room was very minimalistic, with no space other than a small round table to put things like souvenirs or accessories. This made the table overcrowded quickly. ④ Material of the sleepwear: It was made of shiny synthetic fabric that wasn’t suitable for sensitive skin like mine. While other linens such as bathrobes were excellent, this aspect felt disappointing. Additionally, one staff member at reception seemed inexperienced; during check-out (where only payment for one bottle of mineral water remained), it took about three minutes to process and they forgot to provide a tag when I left my luggage with them. I believe they will improve over time. Despite these points, overall I enjoyed staying in this Western-style building that fits Nagasaki’s image perfectly—quiet surroundings with an ocean view made it satisfying! I look forward to seeing this hotel continue as a small luxury accommodation! It would also be wonderful if items featuring the cat illustrations used on cups and amenity bags could be sold as souvenirs!

    A Hotel that embodies hospitality and preserves the unique culture of Nagasaki.

    We stayed as a group of three friends and had an incredibly pleasant experience, not only because of the beautiful accommodation but also due to the exceptional hospitality of the hotel staff. Before our stay, we called to adjust our dinner time and confirm if a late arrival would be acceptable. The staff was very accommodating and attentive during this process. On the day of our stay, we arrived at around 10 AM to drop off our luggage due to scheduling constraints. Before we could even open the entrance door ourselves, a staff member greeted us warmly from inside. Despite our somewhat impolite request to only leave our luggage without checking in at that moment, they kindly accepted with a smile. Later that evening when we returned for check-in, we were pleasantly surprised to find that our luggage had already been placed in the room beforehand. The check-in process itself was accompanied by warm hospitality as we enjoyed tea made with loquat leaves—a unique touch from the hotel. After briefly entering our room and changing shoes, we headed out for dinner. The dining space—renovated from a cathedral—retained an air of solemnity while being welcoming and adorned with stunning stained glass windows that added elegance to the atmosphere. Every dish served was not only delicious but also deeply reflective of Nagasaki's history and culture, making it more than just a meal—it was an experience in itself. The male server attending us was exceptionally friendly while maintaining professionalism and high-quality service throughout; his expertise truly stood out. Thank you so much for such an enjoyable evening, Mr. H. The next morning’s breakfast was equally impressive (I chose Japanese-style cuisine—highly recommended). Afterward, I had some online commitments but managed to quickly visit Glover Garden before they began; during this time I made a small request at reception which they went above and beyond in fulfilling for me! Special thanks go out to Ms A.M., who kindly handed me her business card after assisting me so thoughtfully. Our room featured charming design details down to even its bathroom flooring—a testament to beauty and sophistication found throughout every corner of this accommodation. Every aspect exceeded expectations; my friends who joined me on this trip all agreed that we'd love nothing more than another visit together someday soon!     We have transformed a red brick church facility into a hotel. Although it is a newly established ryokan less than a year old, it offers an exceptional space where you can truly feel the staff's attentiveness and love for the hotel. Come and experience it for yourself!

    The Hotel is conveniently located within walking distance to Glover Garden and the church, making it a great starting point for light sightseeing. Although I was slightly concerned about taking a taxi due to the short distance from the station, navigating Nagasaki's hilly streets went smoothly. Choosing a Room with a balcony was the right decision, as I could enjoy stunning views of luxurious ships docked at the port. Visiting Glover Garden in the evening during a quiet weekday after summer vacation felt almost too serene, and I regretted not having picked up an area map for walking back at night. While the Room had a slightly compact feel typical of classic hotels, it was charmingly arranged. Breakfast in the chapel-like restaurant with sunlight streaming through stained glass windows created an enchanting atmosphere. The staff's guidance to my Room was filled with enthusiasm and love for their Hotel, making it an enjoyable experience. Check-out was smooth and pleasant as well. While Indigo Inuyama was also wonderful, I'm excited about future developments of Indigo brand Hotels!

    Stayed on the day of...

    Stayed on the day of the fireworks festival. Although there was no prior information as it was the first fireworks festival since opening, I was able to enjoy a perfect view from the room, which made me very satisfied. Even without that, this accommodation is located in a prime spot right in the heart of Nagasaki's tourist area. The building is an authentic historical structure with stylish interiors reflecting international hotel quality. The service team matches this high standard perfectly. Breakfast may look like a set meal at first glance, but since you can have unlimited refills, it's practically a buffet! This year I could stay at a reasonable price probably because it just opened, but I feel like it'll be more expensive next year!
