    As a reward for yourself

    I imagined something wild because it was said to be cooked with firewood, but it was completely different. The dishes, made with local and seasonal ingredients and fermented broth, are not only delicious and healthy but also a feast for the senses with their beautiful presentation, fragrant aroma, the sound of firewood, and a slight warm breeze. The staff moved in perfect harmony, like watching a movie. Even the final dessert was truly delicious, making it a blissful time. The Room is simple yet warm, and the Yamato (Yamato) time bath allows you to soak in plenty of hot water, which is delightful in the cold season. In front of you is Mount Wakakusa, and Kasuga Taisha and Todai-ji are within walking distance. In the early morning when tourists are sparse, take the deer crackers provided in the Room, enjoy a leisurely visit, and return to the Hotel for a delicious breakfast. Ah, happiness.

    The hospitality is excellent, but the Facility and cuisine are...?

    It is located at the foot of Nara Wakakusa Mountain. From the outside, it is clear that it is a hotel converted from an old folk house. However, once you pass through the noren, it is a completely different world! The modern atmosphere of the entrance feels wonderful. Then, we were shown to the lounge on the second floor. The atmosphere of the old folk house is preserved, and Wakakusa Mountain towers right in front of the window. This makes my heart dance with the expectation that it can live up to IKYU's rating of 4.93. The room also has a modern design and feels nice. But... the view... Outside the window, the tin roof spreads out, which is disappointing. Also, the rug is so thin that it feels dangerous as my feet get caught, slip, or almost trip. And there is no TV, music, or phone. There is nothing around either. I wonder what I should enjoy... I think. I look forward to the meal, wondering if there is nothing else, and head to the dining room... The dining room has an open kitchen with a wood fire, which feels very nice and raises expectations. The three amuse-bouches served at the beginning, mozzarella and caviar, are quite something. Expectations rise even more. However... Since the amuse-bouches are small, I didn't notice much, but when served a normal portion of food, the first and second bites taste good, but as I continue eating, the taste feels increasingly strong, and by the end, it becomes overwhelming, making me realize that thinking it was delicious at first was a mistake. I couldn't understand why some people give this dish a perfect score of 5. However, the wine is different. The wine served in pairing was of such high quality that it was unimaginable for a pairing, and all had a great taste, making it feel like a great deal. The meal was overwhelmingly rich in flavor until the end, causing heartburn and making the enjoyment of both the meal and the wine feel incomplete, which was very disappointing. However, I thought the staff's response was excellent. I acknowledge that this auberge is striving for something, but it cannot be denied that it is going in circles. Moreover, I find it quite strange that IKYU's rating is 4.93. Since there were many young guests, they might have given high ratings for the seasoning and atmosphere, but if I were to rate it, the staff's response and the hotel's atmosphere would be 4.5 out of 5, but the overall rating would be 3.8, which I think is appropriate. I reflected on myself for being swayed by IKYU's rating and going there. However, the staff and the hotel's atmosphere are wonderful, and the food, except for the richness, is not bad, so I think there is hope for the future.

    A property you want to repeat in different seasons.

    I visited after learning that it had recently opened. As an auberge, not only the cuisine I was expecting, but also the uncompromising attention to detail in each room and amenity, showcased an excellent quality. The warm service that reflects the staff's personality and the relaxed and calm atmosphere of the entire property help you forget the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Since Nigatsudo, Daibutsuden, and Kasuga Taisha are nearby, if you plan to explore the surroundings, the less crowded evening and morning are the best times. I had a lot of luggage, so I took a taxi from the station, but for those with less luggage, walking to the property seems like a good option. Auberges are often located in remote rural areas, so I had the impression that it takes energy to get there and back, but with Comunico, the high point is that you can casually come for a weekend stay. Next time, I would like to visit with my family and elderly grandmother in a different season. Thank you for a wonderful time.

    A New Way to Enjoy Nara

    Located right in front of Wakakusa Mountain, the view from the lounge on the second floor was wonderful. In the evening, we went to Nigatsudo, which was recommended by the staff and is just a short walk away. We were able to see a very beautiful sky at sunset. This spectacular view without the crowds is a luxury. The meals were beautifully and carefully presented, with a wonderful combination of dishes, making them visually appealing as well. The taste was beyond what I could imagine from the appearance and the explanation of the ingredients and cooking methods, providing delightful surprises each time. The seasoning was robust but not overwhelming, and I enjoyed it until the very end. Including the Room, front desk, and other shared areas, the space is sophisticated and warm. The interior has an exotic feel that is neither Japanese nor Western, with a sense of security as if being enveloped, perhaps due to the plaster walls and arch shapes. The Room size is also sufficient. The staff interacted with us naturally, making for a comfortable stay. I would like to visit again in a different season.

    I stayed at the prop...

    I stayed at the property for my birthday. It was my first time in Nara since my school trip, and I was surprised to see so many deer everywhere! Although it was a bit of a distance from Kintetsu Nara Station, it was just right as I stopped by the Great Buddha Hall of Todai-ji and strolled through Nara Park while seeing many deer. From the large windows of the lounge at Stays, I could see many deer relaxing against the backdrop of the lush Wakakusa Mountain, which was a soothing experience. I was really looking forward to the wood-fired cuisine this time, and it was a very powerful dish that allowed me to feel the power of fire and ingredients. Despite its simple appearance, it had a delicate touch, and I was able to enjoy it with all five senses, including the taste, the flickering of the fire, and the aroma. At the end of the meal, I was celebrated with a cute cake, making it a very wonderful birthday. I would like to stay again on a special occasion in a different season. Thank you very much.

    I was able to fully immerse myself in Nara.

    The food was perfect, including ingredients, dishes, space, and presentation. Mount Wakakusa is right in front of you, and Nara Park, Todai-ji Temple, and Kasuga-taisha Shrine are all within walking distance. You can take a leisurely stroll during the less crowded morning and evening hours. It's about a 10-minute walk to Nigatsu-do Hall, but you can enter the hall even at night and enjoy the night view, which is recommended. The view of Mount Wakakusa from the lounge is superb. I thought it would be spectacular to see the Wakakusa Yamayaki (mountain burning) held at the end of January from here. The Room's bath is also spacious and comfortable, but it takes time to fill the tub because it's large. It's about a 10-minute taxi ride from the nearest station. It seems to take about 30 minutes on foot, but since you pass through Nara Park, it might have been nice to walk back while enjoying a stroll.

    The best auberge

    It was truly a wonderful stay. The exterior gives a sense of an old folk house, yet stepping inside reveals an extraordinary space reminiscent of a cave, allowing us to fully enjoy an extraordinary experience. Additionally, the lounge offers a beautiful view of Mount Wakakusa, where you can see deer leisurely walking, creating a soothing atmosphere. Furthermore, the meals we had were exceptional. Each dish was carefully prepared, and I felt that the deliciousness of the ingredients was well utilized. The presentation was also beautiful, and I was very satisfied with the dishes, which I thought were the best I've had this year. Overall, it was a highly satisfying stay, and I definitely want to visit again.

    An auberge to experience Nara with all five senses

    I stayed at the property because I was intrigued by its location overlooking Mount Wakakusa, a symbol of Nara, and the course meals prepared with firewood. During dinner, I enjoyed the excitement of watching the cooking process in the open kitchen located in the center of the restaurant space, eagerly anticipating what would be served. The guest rooms and the interior of the property were designed to blend in with the surrounding environment, allowing for a very relaxing stay. Most notably, the lounge on the second floor retained its traditional Japanese room setting, offering a luxurious time with a view of Mount Wakakusa right in front. It was also nice to take an early morning stroll around the nearby Todai-ji Temple's Nigatsu-do Hall and Kasuga-taisha Shrine.

    The only authentic auberge in Nara

    Even among auberges across the whole country, I am looking for a property with particularly few rooms, where I can spend my time freely and without being rushed. I made a reservation here because it has only 5 rooms, offers wood-fired cuisine (what is it?), and has just recently opened. Although it is far from the nearest Nara Station, I had little luggage, so I walked through Nara Park to get there. The Great Buddha of Todai-ji is also very close. The reception is really simple. The room has nothing unnecessary, so there are no particular comments. It was very quiet at night. Before dinner, I went to Nigatsu-do, which was introduced by the staff. There were few people, and the scenery (sunset) was beautiful, so much so that I don't want to tell anyone about it! The much-anticipated meal started in the lounge. Each dish was a special experience that allowed me to taste the ingredients of Nara... I want people to experience it on-site. It was a truly primitive dining experience where you could feel the original taste of the ingredients, even though it was a well-crafted dish. (It is completely different from the usual Italian or French courses, so it is perfect for those who are tired of such things.) It seems that you can also use it for dinner only, but the breakfast the next morning was also very delicious, so I recommend staying... It seems that the content of the meals changes with the seasons, and the access is good, so I thought I would like to visit regularly before it becomes popular.

    An auberge perfect for sightseeing in Nara.

    The dinner was so delicious that I felt it would be worth visiting just for the meal. The wine pairing matched perfectly as well. The staff treated us very well. I visited Nara for sightseeing, and I was very satisfied because I could enjoy Nara even inside the inn, as I could continuously view the greenery and many deer from the lounge. I definitely want to visit again.
