On days of heavy rain...
This was my first stay. It was a day of heavy rain, but when I arrived it had not started raining yet, and I planned to park and head to the Room, but I was asked to park in a lot a short distance away. I parked there, appreciating the limited parking situation near the station, and went to the Room. It was a corner Room with a great view—clean, monochrome, and very relaxing. Both the Japanese restaurant we used for dinner and the place for breakfast offered fresh local ingredients, and the staff’s thoughtful service was very pleasant. Thank you for taking such good care of us.

Conveniently located near the station, newly built and spotless, with a delicious breakfast.
We stayed with children and borrowed a bed guard, a diaper bin, and blankets, which were kindly delivered to our room. When our child spilled something at breakfast, the staff even wiped the floor for us. The building is new and very comfortable. There is no bathtub, but it wasn’t an issue in summer. Although it’s close to the station, we couldn’t find the car entrance at first and ended up calling for directions. The drop-off area is on the 3rd floor and the front desk is on the 16th floor, which may be confusing at first. Breakfast was excellent. It was fun to watch a machine make pancakes right in front of us, and they also prepared rice porridge upon request.

The Room feels high-quality and was very comfortable. The view from the window was excellent as well. If I have the chance, I would like to stay again.

A place I always stay
I always choose this Accommodation for my trips to Fukui. No matter which Room I’m assigned, the view is great and it’s comfortable. This time, perhaps because it was busy during the Obon holidays, the floor was dirty—like tracked-in rain mud. I wish I had mentioned it and asked for it to be cleaned. I didn’t get around to saying anything and spent my stay in slippers.

There is no on-site parking available.
The Facility itself was new, clean, and conveniently located near the station, which was very satisfying. It was disappointing that there was no on-site parking operated directly by the property and no bathtub (large public bath).

It was great being so close to the station.
Right in front of Fukui Station, it was a great base for sightseeing. Since our Room was on a high floor, transferring between escalators and elevators was inconvenient. The Room was clean, and the semi-double bed was spacious and comfortable, but it was troublesome that turning on the bathroom light automatically turned on the TV. The coffee server was a nice touch.

Delicious breakfast
I returned because I love the breakfast, and it was just as delicious as ever. The Hotel Room is also modern and very clean. The downside this time was that at check-in I was suddenly told breakfast is now served in three time slots, and that from 6:30 onward breakfast would no longer be available. I had planned to check out early for sightseeing and already had Reservations at other Facilities, so eating breakfast at the assigned time would have made me miss my Reservations and thrown off my schedule significantly. I was surprised by this. I would have liked to be informed of this change by email in advance. If it was stated somewhere, I wish it had been communicated more clearly beforehand.

For international travelers.
When I had business in Fukui, the rate was higher than nearby business hotels, so I made a Reservation expecting something better. In the end, it just felt like inbound pricing, and I would have been better off staying at a major business hotel chain. Despite being Japanese, all the paperwork for procedures was in English (some parts include Japanese, but the Japanese text is smaller and they don’t confirm anything in Japanese). They briefly showed me the papers and asked, “Is everything correct?”—even if you can read English, it’s confusing for a moment. Even though this was an IKYU Reservation and my card details were registered with IKYU, they still demanded that I present a credit card separately. Even after I explained that my card was registered with IKYU, they kept insisting. Since I couldn’t see any benefit to registering again anyway, I said, “If it’s not required, I’d rather not register,” and they responded with “Fine then,” clearly irritated. The only benefit for guests seems to be being able to charge in-hotel dining and other purchases to that card. On top of that, the Plan I booked included a later checkout time than usual, but they told me the standard time instead and we ended up arguing at the front desk. Overall, both operations and staff were disappointing. Most guests are foreign visitors by far, so each floor’s atmosphere depends on that. You can hear loud conversations in the hallway as well as phone calls from neighboring Rooms—soundproofing is poor. There’s no shower Room or bathtub; it feels like an overseas budget hotel and isn’t very convenient for Japanese guests. Breakfast was relatively quiet when going later on a weekday morning; even then there was a good variety. The taste was fine—simply decent. It may be good for international travelers, but both service quality and value for money are poor for Japanese guests, so I’ve decided to avoid this chain going forward.

The staff were wonderful, with thoughtful attention to detail, prompt service, and courteous hospitality. Thanks to the smooth check-in, I was able to stay comfortable throughout my visit. The location and Facility were also excellent. I would love to stay again.

Terrible!!
First, at check-in, the male front desk staff had a lethargic, condescending attitude. Although I had already paid in advance by card, I was asked to present my credit card. When I asked, “Is this for a deposit?”, the only response was, “No.” My card was then taken and run through a card reader, and afterward it was run again through a different credit card terminal. Since this involves 3D Secure two-step authentication, having my card run through a separate reader in addition to the terminal made me feel extremely uneasy and worried. Could you please explain—either here or as a reply to this Review—why the card needs to be run through two devices (a credit card terminal and another reader)? Sorry for my lack of knowledge. I was not shown or given any receipt/slip from the credit card terminal at the time, nor did I receive one at checkout either, which also makes me anxious. Also, the buckwheat-husk pillow I requested by email in advance was not prepared, and there was no notice or explanation. I also used an affiliated parking lot, but there was no mention of it and no guidance at all. As for the room itself, I could hear guests two rooms away arguing loudly all night long and couldn’t sleep at all. The walls are far too thin! And the duvet is far too heavy. In that case, a domestic chain hotel would have been much better! This was the most exhausting stay of my life.

I had high expectations because it’s a Marriott, but I was disappointed. The shower area is small, and I’m not sure why it’s designed to be visible from the Room. You can also see someone using the toilet. This is disappointing for a Marriott.

Your First Time in Fukui Prefecture
We stayed in a Room without a bath for two guests. The Japanese-style meals were also good. / The Room was clean. / The Hotel bar was nice as well. It’s right in front of the station, so it was easy to find.

The Facility is great, but...
The location is excellent right in front of the station, and as the only international brand in front of Fukui Station, it is more than satisfactory. However, the staff still seem to need further training in customer service, which was very disappointing. Also, many Rooms have only a shower (no bathtub), which was another negative point for us.

The bed was excellent in both size and firmness. I was very satisfied with the breakfast as well. The bread, jam, cheese, and vegetable juice were all delicious. Perhaps because of the other guests, it was quiet and relaxing, and I enjoyed breakfast at a leisurely pace.

It was a beautiful Hotel.
I stayed here to attend a live concert. It’s conveniently located right in front of the station. If I had to mention one thing, I could see a high-rise apartment building from my Room, and I wondered if we could see each other. I checked in at night and was planning to go out afterward. I was told that the escalator can’t be used after 11:00 p.m., and I was given a map, so I roughly understood where the elevator was. However, when I came back, I couldn’t enter the lobby where the elevator is. I looked at the 안내문 (map) that I had photographed for a while, but it didn’t seem to mention it. Then someone happened to return, tapped their card, and went in—that’s when I realized how it worked. The staff member spoke Japanese well, but this part wasn’t explained, which was a bit disappointing. The Room was spacious and clean. There was no bathtub—shower only. I’m not comfortable with unit baths anyway, so as long as they’re separate (or shower-only), it’s fine for me.

Marriott Near the Station
This was my second stay. Last time I chose a room with a bathtub, but this time it was shower only. I felt it would have been better to have a bathtub after all. As for breakfast, because the floor is open, the fragrance from the front desk drifted directly into the area, which was disappointing. Scents are a matter of personal preference, and I wasn’t pleased that it reached the dining area.

We had a very pleasant stay.
This was my second stay, following last year. This time I stayed on the 24th floor, and the view was wonderful. The service at the lobby was courteous, and the Room was impeccably clean. What impressed me most was the water dispenser installed in the Room. It said it is to eliminate plastic bottle waste, but considering the investment cost of the dispenser, I imagine it is not a small burden for the Hotel. Even so, I am truly impressed by your commitment to conserving resources. I would like to stay again.

It was a nice Room.
The Room had a wonderful atmosphere, and the view from the window was amazing. You can even see the dinosaur in front of the station. The Facility was stylish and had a luxurious feel, which I really liked. Just one thing: the shower head wouldn’t stay in position and quickly turned away, which made it difficult to use. If you’re staying near Fukui Station, I recommend it!

Disappointing service
I arranged this Accommodation for my son and his wife after their wedding. When making the Reservation, I wrote that it would be on their wedding day and that I wanted to consult about arranging some kind of celebration, but I received no reply. So shortly before the stay, I went in person to ask. When I asked on the 3rd floor whether there was a concierge, I was met with, “Huh? A concierge? What do you need?” and was told to go directly to the front desk. At the front desk, even after giving the Reservation date and name, it took a long time to confirm, and they even asked if I might have the wrong date. Once they finally found it, I asked whether they could arrange flowers or something similar. They said there was no flower shop and that I should contact a florist myself and arrange delivery—no further suggestions were offered. I understand that point, but it would have been helpful if they had suggested alternatives (for example, something through room service). I considered asking about that, but my husband said we shouldn’t rely on them if they couldn’t even confirm our Reservation properly, so we gave up. On the day of arrival, they delivered the flowers we had arranged to the Room, so my son and his wife were happy. However, at both check-in and check-out there seemed to be no words at all—everything ended without any acknowledgment. Since we clearly stated at booking that this was for their wedding day stay—and given the communication about flower delivery—the Hotel should have been aware of it as well. It left me feeling quite sad. As this is the first international brand in our area and a well-known name to some extent, perhaps my expectations were too high. At other Hotels of a similar level where we have stayed before, we have often experienced warm interactions—staff unexpectedly offering kind words through small conversations during our stay—so I believed that was part of what makes a well-known Hotel. I also felt especially disappointed because when it opened locally there was an interview with the general manager on TV; based on what he said then about hospitality, I assumed staff training would be thorough. In addition, while my son and his wife were waiting for an elevator after checking out, a boy around elementary-school age repeatedly wandered around in front of it while watching a tablet at high volume. They said it was very unpleasant and wondered why staff did not say anything. The property is new; the Room was clean; breakfast was good. Only the staff response was disappointing.

It was average.
It felt exactly like a new foreign-owned Hotel—nothing more, nothing less. The service was average. Breakfast was included, but it was also average (there were a few well-known local items, but otherwise it was the kind of standard selection you can find anywhere). It’s right in front of the station, so the location is very convenient. The staff were polite and adequate—no more, no less. After walking around sightseeing all day and having tired legs, I realized there was no bathtub. In the Reservation details it did say (if you look closely) that the Room has only a shower, but since most Hotels in Japan usually have a bathtub, that was disappointing and I ended up giving just one star.

I stayed at this Hotel again for the Fukui Marathon. The Facility is new and clean, and the staff in each area are friendly, which makes it a relaxing place to stay. See you again next year!

The view was great, the Room was clean, and we really enjoyed the delicious breakfast! We were also happy to have Echizen soba. For dinner, we used the commercial Facility attached to the Hotel and enjoyed Fukui’s local cuisine. We also appreciated being able to make coffee in the Room with the provided pod machine. We would love to stay again.

A Clean Hotel Near Fukui Station
The location and Facility are both good. The breakfast buffet offers both Japanese and Western options, including local dishes, and the quality is decent. However, because the counter is in a straight line and the layout is poorly zoned, there can be very long lines at certain times with a significant wait (it’s hard to find where to pick up trays, rice is placed at the beginning causing congestion, etc.). Changing the equipment may be difficult, but this could be improved through better design and operations—such as color-coding, clearer signage, and proper guidance—so it should be addressed. Also, since this is a very large property, dishes often run out; there are many areas for improvement in breakfast. In-room items and amenities are minimal (no shoe-shine cloth or deodorizer spray, no skincare such as lotion/toner).

The food court on the first floor was excellent.
The property is located on the upper floors of a building that houses several wonderful restaurants representing Fukui. It is also right in front of Fukui Station, making it extremely convenient. However, one disappointing experience was that I accidentally left about 2,500 yen in coins (three to four 500-yen coins, etc.) in the Room. After checkout, I asked the front desk about it, but they were unclear and I went back in person. I was told, “We usually consider it a tip.” When I asked if that was the Hotel’s policy, they replied, “Yes.” I then requested that they confirm with headquarters, and later received a call saying only: “Our headquarters does not have a tipping system, so it was wrong to treat it as a tip. We’re sorry.” That was all. I wanted my money returned, but I gave up because I was concerned about being labeled a complainer. In the future, if any cash is found in a Room, I would appreciate it if staff would not simply put it into their pocket and instead handle it appropriately.

A Hotel with Hospitality
I had a very comfortable stay. The staff provided hospitable service, making my experience pleasant. I understand the Courtyard by Marriott brand as the business hotel version of Marriott, but I found it inconvenient that there was no proper desk or chair for desk work. Therefore, I rated it 4 stars. I worked in the breakfast area, and the staff there were very accommodating and pleasant. While having only a shower booth was not an issue for me, I gave a 4-star rating due to the absence of a bathtub.

A drinking water purifier is located next to the restroom...
The emphasis on what was once called SDGs feels excessive. Notably, there are no bottled water provided in the Room, and instead, a water purifier is installed in the same space as the toilet with instructions to "drink that water," which was quite surprising. Scientifically, there is a possibility of aerosol particles dispersing into the air when flushing the toilet. There’s also a non-zero chance that these particles could adhere to the spout of the purifier located in such proximity. For those who study hygiene or have germophobia, this setup might be psychologically challenging. Installing bathtubs should take priority over water purifiers.

Comfortable Hotel
Close to the station and located on a high floor, the view was great, and I had a comfortable stay. All the staff provided excellent service. The Room was clean, and the bed was very comfortable, allowing me to sleep soundly. The eco-friendly water purifier and amenities were a nice touch. Although it was a shower-only Room, there was a chair in the shower room which made it more relaxing. It was No Meals Included, but with shops and convenience stores nearby, it was very convenient—I would love to stay here again!

A lovely Hotel near the station
Stayed for one night with breakfast from November 16. The convenience was excellent. Dining options include the "Fukui Station Front Food Hall MINIE" on the first floor of the Hotel, and shopping at "Kuruf Fukui Station" is just nearby, making it very convenient. The Hotel's service was highly refined. The Room featured a very large monitor (65 inches?) and a high-quality bed that ensured a restful sleep. Overall, everything provided was sophisticated and stylish. For those who don't mind not having a bathtub in the bathroom, this is an excellent Hotel. I will definitely stay here again if I have another chance to visit Fukui!
