    BBQ is a great option for those who love glamping.

    Highly rated and dog-friendly accommodation that I had been curious about for a while, so despite being a bit pricey, I decided to stay. The atmosphere of the facility was excellent. The facilities were also excellent. We stayed in the Dog Loft Suite (Japanese-Western style) with three people and were very satisfied. Amenities included slightly luxurious shampoo, booster, and conditioner, which was nice; however, the flyer from the shampoo manufacturer placed in the room mentioned two additional products for after bathing and drying hair. If those two items were also provided, satisfaction would likely increase further! Customer service was excellent; all staff members were very pleasant. Both the large public bath and the semi-open-air bath in our room had great water quality—very satisfying! The semi-open-air bath in our room had screens to prevent insects from entering, which was great (though small bugs did manage to get in). As for meals: while I preferred an auberge-style dining experience, dogs weren’t allowed at the restaurant so we reluctantly opted for "Premium BBQ" as our dog had to stay behind in the room. Recently many dog-friendly accommodations allow dogs at their restaurants; leaving them alone is often considered unacceptable by many guests. The "Premium BBQ" included abalone and game meat (Chinese muntjac) on top of regular BBQ items. While they said that the abalone came straight from a tank, it was only slightly larger than a turban shell—hardly premium? As for game meat—it was supposed to be lean and easy-to-eat but tasted like liver and received poor reviews from my family (this may come down to personal preference). Additionally, T-bone steak seemed imported—it was tough with little flavor—a disappointment. The turban shell paella wasn’t what we expected either; imagining Spanish-style paella but instead receiving broth poured over rice then grilled lightly resulted in bland flavors—not ideal. Lobster came as half per person but seemed like it had been out of water too long compared with fresh abalone served directly without wrapping—the lobster arrived wrapped tightly instead. On brighter notes: bagna cauda sauce dishes alongside grilled vegetables & cheese platters exceeded expectations! The outdoor BBQ area felt more like an enclosed veranda equipped w/screens keeping most bugs away—a thoughtful touch appreciated greatly! Having stayed frequently across similarly priced pet-welcoming hotels before where value matches cost consistently well enough overall impressions here fell short especially regarding meal experiences anticipated eagerly beforehand yet left disappointed ultimately hoping future changes might include allowing pets inside restaurants potentially prompting return visits someday soon perhaps?     It was a perfect accommodation.

    Stayed with a glamping plan that included BBQ meals. The accommodation was perfect, featuring dome tents, a pool, an onsen with sauna, campfires, barbecues, and even fireworks! Each aspect was of very high quality and impeccably clean, making the entire stay comfortable and enjoyable. Glamping offers a private experience as there are few opportunities to encounter other guests. We were lucky to have exclusive access to the onsen and pool during our visit (the black hot spring water left our skin silky smooth... being able to enjoy it in the room was an amazing bonus). The BBQ dinner and breakfast were generously portioned and just as delicious as they looked in promotional photos. As glamping beginners, we felt warmly welcomed by the kind and friendly staff. It became an unforgettable memory for us! :)

    First Glamping Experience

    My first glamping experience was something I had been looking forward to. Out of many glamping accommodations, I chose this one for its newness (only 2 years old), well-equipped facilities, and appealing meal options. The room was thoughtfully designed with guests in mind, creating a wonderful and exciting atmosphere! The presence of a sofa allowed me to relax comfortably. Despite staying in early September, there were surprisingly few insects, which was a relief. In addition to the large public bath in the main building, there was also a private onsen adjacent to the dome accommodation, which was very convenient. The BBQ area was clean and designed to keep you dry even if it rained. Both dinner and breakfast offered unique experiences compared to other glamping accommodations—truly satisfying! I especially enjoyed having lobster on the dinner menu. I could also enjoy a personal bonfire space that provided relaxation just by watching it burn. The welcome drinks at the main building included alcohol options as well as post-bath ice cream with various flavors—all delicious! The large public bath featured glass-walled saunas and open-air baths with an expansive atmosphere where I could unwind completely. Overall cleanliness throughout the facility made it truly impressive—I highly recommend this place. Apart from glamping domes, they also offer villa-style or traditional Japanese-style accommodations along with restaurant dining options; I'd love to stay here again someday. Lastly, because this is such an amazing facility already, I'd like to share some suggestions for improvement as well as things that stood out positively: Suggestions: - The T-bone steak served at dinner had slightly tough tendons. - It would be nice if soft drinks were available in addition to water in the fridge for pairing with meals. - Adding ketchup for breakfast would be appreciated. - A basket for clothes would be helpful near the private bath area. - A dressing table or vanity mirror inside the dome would make makeup application easier. Positives: 〇 There were baskets available for carrying items into the large public bath. 〇 Crocs were provided for walking between domes and the main building. 〇 Freshly ground coffee beans allowed us to enjoy great coffee. 〇 Dinner and breakfast setups were very functional yet enjoyable. 〇 The onsen in the main building was absolutely fantastic!

    Cozy and relaxing

    In summer, there are many insects due to the location, but there is spray available in the room for self-care. Previously, I tried the barbecue option, but during midsummer or midwinter, restaurant dining is recommended. The barbecue is outdoors, and you eat outside as well. While spring and autumn with pleasant weather might be enjoyable for this experience, other seasons can be quite challenging. The restaurant meals focus on local ingredients and are very delicious. Unlike other ryokans where overwhelming portions are served that leave you feeling stuffed, here the portions are just right and easy to finish without overindulging. Breakfast also comes in a moderate portion size so you won’t feel overly full in the morning. The onsen features black water that leaves your skin smooth and glowing. The staff members are all polite yet friendly and approachable. During summer, the pool is open for use; since this hotel has a limited number of rooms, if you're lucky it might feel like a private pool experience! The compact size of the pool makes it safe and enjoyable even with small children. Looking forward to visiting again!

    It was a heartwarming and joyful experience.

    We stayed for two nights in a glamping dome. On the first night, we enjoyed a barbecue, and on the second night, we had a chef's course meal. Both featured carefully selected local ingredients from Isumi. You could feel the chef's kindness and love for the local producers in every dish. Each bite brought us happiness and left us deeply moved. The dome and terrace were spacious, making our dog incredibly happy as well. There was also a newly built dog run. The hospitality with fruits and roasted marshmallows was delightful too. The black hot spring, pool, and stargazing—all of it was amazing! We had such a wonderful time relaxing amidst Isumi’s beautiful nature. We will definitely visit again!

    It felt like returning to my childhood home in the countryside, quietly moved by the serene rural life. The sounds of insects and cicadas were so calming. At the same time, the auberge was exceptional with no compromises—amazing flavors and creative arrangements. Special thanks to the knowledgeable sommelier.     The restaurant is not dog-friendly.

    We booked a Dog Suite (with pool and sauna) for two nights to celebrate our beloved dog's first birthday with the family. For the first night, we chose a BBQ style meal, and for the second night, we reserved this hotel's signature "Restaurant Meal Plan." On the second night, we especially wanted to host a birthday party for our dog, so we also ordered a special dog meal and birthday cake. After making the reservation, we eagerly looked forward to our stay by reading articles on their official website about meals made with local ingredients. We even prepared nice outfits for dining at the restaurant and got our dog's stroller ready before visiting Gokisato with excitement. The turning point came at check-in. "We do not allow dogs in the restaurant." I had specifically confirmed over a phone call after booking that I wanted to dine with my dog in the restaurant. Neither their official website nor IKYU.com's page mentioned that pets were not allowed in the restaurant. In fact, I had chosen a plan titled "[1 Night 2 Meals] <Auberge Style> Restaurant Meal Plan (For Dogs)" under the impression that I could enjoy dining together with my dog. When I asked what would happen to my pre-ordered dog meal and cake, they responded that they would bring it later to our room and asked us to feed it there. Although emotions ran high during check-in as my family was excited about finally arriving at this hotel, I held back from getting into an argument with reception staff. Instead of dwelling on being unable to enter the restaurant with my dog as planned, I decided to think of alternative solutions. I requested reception staff: "If dogs are not allowed in your restaurant after all, please change our booking from 'Restaurant Meal Plan' to one of your listed 'No Meals Included Plans.' That way we can book a nearby pet-friendly restaurant instead." However, their response was: "Since you booked under 'Restaurant Meal Plan,' switching directly into 'No Meals Included' is not possible; only switching into something like BBQ Plan—closer price-wise—is allowed." It puzzled me why switching into BBQ was possible but changing into No Meals Included wasn’t—was this decision purely profit-driven? Despite asking further questions seeking clarity around policy reasoning behind such restrictions—they avoided giving clear answers altogether leaving lingering doubts unresolved throughout interactions hereafter... While personally enjoying barbecues generally speaking—it felt repetitive eating identical dishes across consecutive days regardless how premium quality ingredients themselves might’ve been utilized therein ultimately leading towards dissatisfaction overall experience-wise...

    Full-body tattoos are welcome.

    Overall, the meals and services did not match the price. Positive Points: - There were watermelon and roasted marshmallow services during the event. Negative Points: - I saw several guests with full-body tattoos. They were wearing revealing clothing, making it obvious, but hotel staff did not address this (as they continued to use the facilities without covering up the next day). It seems that guests with tattoos are allowed. This should be clearly stated on the website in advance. - The welcome drink service is great; however, there is only one table in the lobby (decorated with dried flowers instead of fresh ones), so during busy check-in times, you may have to stand while drinking. - Although it is advertised as an auberge, there are no napkins provided. Cutlery is not replaced after each course but reused instead. - Dinner was overly avant-garde and too experimental for my taste (e.g., an aperitif mimicking "uruka" had a fishy smell). Other dishes also didn’t suit my preferences... - While local ingredients are heavily used, rather than enhancing their natural flavors, they seemed more like experimental dishes (the taste, appearance, texture, and aroma all felt subpar—I wondered if proper tasting was done). - Do not expect a standard breakfast service even found at business hotels (no coffee or fruits provided). - All amenities come with advertisements attached as if encouraging you to purchase them. - The public bath does not provide cleansing products or facial soap; women need to bring these from their room amenities (and men do not have any amenities available at all). Given its relatively high price range and media coverage that raised expectations, this trip turned out disappointing for me. I will not be returning again.

    Relaxing and Soothing Glamping Experience

    Stayed with my beloved dog! The property has a garden that made my dog very happy, and both the pool and sauna were fantastic. At night, the stars were beautiful, making for a wonderful experience.

    Stayed at the Dog Suite again this year.

    Last year's one-night stay was excellent, so this year we tried a two-night stay. The restaurant's meals were as outstanding as ever, making the multiple night stay enjoyable. The dishes were incredibly inspiring and reminiscent of Chef Tonio's cuisine from JoJo Part 4. Of course, they also serve a large abalone dish. We will likely never opt for the barbecue option in the future. Regarding the Dog Suite room, I am not aware of any other hotel that allows pets and offers both a private pool and an open-air onsen. It is an exceptionally rare room. This time, we also tried the private sauna, which was very relaxing. During our dog's walk, we climbed up to the Tree Terrace and encountered a large frog along the way—it seemed to be an enjoyable experience for our dog as well. One concern is that since it has been two years since this facility opened, some wear is noticeable in areas like the tatami mats in the room and Yogibo furniture. As a fan of this hotel, I particularly hope for improvements regarding steps within rooms. The stairs from the bedroom to the living area are quite challenging for dogs—especially long-bodied breeds like Corgis—as they can strain their backs and increase risks of herniated discs or spinal issues; it’s generally recommended to avoid stairs altogether for such breeds. In fact, even in daily life at home, we never let our dog use stairs. Additionally, hardwood flooring can be tough on dogs' paws; some pet-friendly hotels use non-slip materials for their flooring instead. If these aspects are improved upon further, both humans and dogs could enjoy an even more relaxing experience here.

    Enjoyed delicious meals and relaxing Onsen.

    Previously, I stayed in a villa and it became my favorite accommodation where I could stay with my beloved dog. This time, I chose the dome tent. It was convenient to have a sofa and table inside and to let my dog out easily, but having the bathroom, toilet, and kitchen located in a trailer house outside the tent felt slightly inconvenient. The space in front of the sink in the trailer house was narrow; adding curtains would allow better use of the area with tables, and having towel racks and laundry baskets would be helpful. For dinner, I enjoyed several dishes made with fresh local ingredients. Breakfast was Japanese-style, and the grilled salted golden eye snapper was delicious. While this may vary by person, I think it would have been even better if the ankake sauce dish and miso soup were served piping hot. The onsen had a small washing area but featured a spacious bath where I could relax in black hot spring water. I look forward to visiting again during another season. Thank you for your hospitality this time as well!

    Completely satisfied!

    I was looking for accommodation where I could stay with my beloved dog, and this place was perfect. The facility is already attractive with a sauna and pool, but the dome-shaped accommodation provided a truly relaxing experience. There are no TVs in the rooms or trailers, allowing for a digital detox. The sauna uses a wood-burning system, but it came with clear instructions and was very easy to use. The pool is ideal for cooling off during hot summer days or after enjoying the sauna. We chose the BBQ-style meal option, which included steak and lobster—more than enough to satisfy two people! Breakfast was also highly satisfying.

    Definitely coming back! The whole family loved it!

    The summer has started off hot, so we searched for a hotel with a pool and discovered Gokiri! Pool, Onsen, sauna, bonfire, and luxurious course meals. Our child who loves pools and my wife who loves gourmet food were thrilled! It was our first time experiencing glamping with such exceptional facilities and cuisine. The black Onsen is absolutely amazing! We even encountered natural fireflies—what a magical experience! Both my child and wife were overjoyed. This hotel fulfilled all the desires of our entire family! Special thanks to the staff for their kind support in handling our energetic child. It was truly a wonderful start to summer. We will definitely be back again!

    A timeless Japanese landscape you'll never want to leave.

    The unforgettable experience from my previous stay brought me back to this accommodation. While it was already wonderful before, I noticed several improvements that made it even better. First, the meals now focus more on local and seasonal ingredients, prepared in a simple and approachable way. The natural eel, in particular, was absolutely delicious. Additionally, the observation deck has been upgraded for easier access and offers breathtaking views of the countryside. This season's rural landscape is so inviting; despite the warm temperatures, the refreshing breeze through the rice fields makes it hard to leave this place. Moreover, thanks to guidance from the staff, we were able to enjoy watching fireflies up close—a magical experience not only for children but also for adults. The room was incredibly quiet with only the sound of insects in the background. Its wooden design provided a calming atmosphere where I could truly relax. The rare black Onsen was an absolute delight—I enjoyed soaking in it multiple times during my stay. I look forward to visiting again soon. It was truly an exceptional accommodation experience!

    The restaurant is excellent!

    Compared to facilities in a similar price range, it may lack a bit of luxury and overall satisfaction. However, being pet-friendly makes up for it. The highlight here is definitely the restaurant. The chef's amazing cuisine offers an experience far more valuable than an in-room barbecue. I would visit just for the food! Thank you, Chef!

    Almost perfect.

    We stayed in a room with a pool, along with my wife and two children under elementary school age. The meals, Onsen, and sauna were perfect. The quality of the food was comparable to that of top-tier hotels and restaurants in major cities. Additionally, the staff who served us during meals were excellent, providing detailed explanations for each dish. However, there was an issue with the attic-style Japanese room on the second floor. Although three futons were provided, due to the layout of the space, only two could be used at most. We had to fold one futon in half to use it, which was neither visually appealing nor practical. On a related note, while there were three beds on the first floor, we couldn't push them together because of an immovable side table between them. This might be slightly inconvenient for those considering Child Sharing Existing Bedding with small children.

    I was satisfied during my 2-day stay.

    We stayed for two nights and were very satisfied with the staff's service and the condition of the Room. However, one concern was the terrace railing. Our dog enjoyed looking outside through it, but we felt a bit uneasy about whether it was safe enough to prevent falls. It would be great if there were some fall prevention measures in place, as it would allow us to leave our dog unattended more comfortably. Of course, we understand this might involve additional costs...

    Excellent.

    We stayed for one night with our family and dog. The room, meals, bath, sauna, and service were all excellent. The welcome drinks—sake, pear juice, and green tea—were all delicious. My son said it was "the best among the dog-friendly accommodations we've stayed at so far." After enjoying the bath and sauna, taking a nap while listening to the sound of frogs was so relaxing that electronic sounds felt unpleasant in comparison. The staff who delivered our dinner shared helpful information with us, making our morning walk even more enjoyable. Thank you for providing us with such a wonderful time!

    The flow for relaxation is excellent!

    The exterior looks nice, but the interior has a bit of a handmade feel, giving the impression that it is not a luxury accommodation. If the atmosphere matched the entrance, it would have been rated 5 stars. However, for those prioritizing the sauna experience, there is absolutely no issue. The sauna, bathtub, cold bath, relaxation space, and flow are excellent and very satisfying. In that sense, it feels quite unique and has become a candidate for repeat visits.

    The tent is inadequate.

    I previously stayed in a loft Room and had a great experience, so I decided to revisit and stay in a tent. The breakfast at the restaurant was high-quality and very enjoyable. Next time, I plan to book the restaurant Plan, so I look forward to visiting again. The dinner, including shabu-shabu and golden eye snapper, was also delicious. Here are some points of concern regarding the tent stay: 1) The trailer house and tent are far apart, with no roof covering all pathways. Even going to the restroom requires using an umbrella. A fully covered pathway would be more convenient. 2) It seems that entering the trailer house with shoes on is assumed; however, it felt confusing when using areas like the washroom or changing room for bathing purposes. Wouldn't it be better if shoes were prohibited inside entirely? 3) It was rainy and cold during my stay, but the Room felt quite chilly as well. Please consider balancing energy-saving measures with guest comfort. Overall, the meals were excellent, and it's convenient for use on an ordinary weekend. I'll definitely visit again!

    【Good Points】 ① The staff's hospitality is exceptional. ② Stayed for 3 nights, and they made great efforts to ensure the meal menus did not overlap. ③ Enjoyed a refreshing experience with sauna → self-loylyu → private pool → private open-air bath without any interruptions. ④ The welcome drink, pear juice, was incredibly delicious. ⑤ The welcome roasted sweet potato was absolutely delightful. ⑥ The onsen is excellent, with water quality similar to Inamuragasaki Onsen in Hayama. ⑦ Surrounded by nature with soothing sounds of chickens, pheasants, frogs, and wild birds singing. ⑧ No foreign guests were present, allowing for a peaceful and quiet stay. 【Bad Points】 ① Despite requesting no cleaning and asking not to enter the room, someone entered without notice. Initially booked for 2 nights and 3 days but extended our stay by one night due to how comfortable it was and the great weather on the last day. During our stay, they were very kind to our child as well; everyone’s high level of hospitality made it an enjoyable experience—thank you so much! We’ll visit again when it gets warmer!

    It was disappointing despite the delicious food...

    I stayed with my pet, but as soon as I entered the room, it was clear that cleaning had not been done properly... There was a dried contact lens on the tatami mat, and I noticed it just in time before my dog could eat it. The bathroom also had several strands of hair left behind. The room had four Yogibo cushions, but they were covered in stains, likely from pet urine, making them unusable. When I informed the front desk, all I received was a simple apology. Similar issues were mentioned in past reviews, so it seems there is no intention to improve... The facility is built on a cliffside but lacks fencing on the rice field side, which is extremely dangerous for families with children—please be cautious. However, the food was truly delicious! The course meals wonderfully highlighted the natural flavors of the ingredients and were absolutely fantastic!!

    We visited looking forward to dining at the restaurant. Dinner was crafted with high-quality local ingredients, and our entire family was satisfied. The detailed explanations conveyed a sense of local pride. We also appreciate the effort to accommodate our requests as much as possible. For breakfast, it would have been even better if there were yogurt, fresh fruits, or drinks to provide a refreshing finish. Regarding the room, it felt cold on both days, so having a table for drinks and a sofa of matching height would be ideal. Additionally, a folding chair or small stool in the washroom would have been convenient. The floor was slightly concerning as our dog occasionally slipped on it. The Onsen left my skin feeling smooth and I enjoyed it multiple times; however, having to press buttons repeatedly for reheating was somewhat inconvenient. I’ve written down some details here that could be included in feedback sheets often found in accommodations—please consider providing one in the room for such comments. We look forward to visiting again during another season! Thank you for your hospitality!

    I had a pleasant stay.

    I stayed at Gokisato for the first time. The garden was beautiful, and the atmosphere with flowing water was very pleasant. The dinner at the restaurant was made with local ingredients, and the staff explained each dish carefully, making it very delicious. The onsen had great water, and I was surprised by how comfortable the bed in the room was! I wonder which brand of mattress they use? I'd love to have one at home too.

    A property where you can relax naturally

    I stayed in the Kome Room, and the black onsen was a beauty-enhancing bath, making for a warm and comfortable stay with the fireplace. The meals were also locally sourced and organically grown, reflecting care and thoughtfulness. It was just the right property to feel nature without overdoing it or lacking. The area has many Ise lobster and pufferfish restaurants, so next time I'll have a multiple night stay.

    Very satisfied.

    Based on the price, we chose a barbecue for our meal. Instead of the usual iron plate grilling, we used an overseas-made roaster with luxurious ingredients like spiny lobster and T-bone steak. It was very enjoyable to grill them ourselves. We forgot about the hassle and experienced something extraordinary. The staff's explanations were thorough, and the way they provided the ingredients was excellent. We had never experienced a fireplace before, so that was fun too. However, for ventilation purposes, we opened the window slightly while sitting on the tatami mat area. Our feet got cold, and we wished for a different type of Yogibo chair as it was difficult to get up from it. Additionally, since the floor was cold too, I called to request regular slippers which were promptly brought to us. Since we visited in February during mid-winter, we'd like to visit again during warmer weather next time. P.S. The welcome drink offered was sake; however, since I'm not fond of it (considering budget constraints), having sparkling wine or regular wine would have been nice as well. Also disappointing was seeing staff peeking at guests from the dining area while saying something—it left an impression lacking hospitality.

    Both the bath and meals were excellent!

    We stayed as a couple and were very satisfied with our experience. The welcome baked sweet potato was also nice.

    Her Birthday Celebration

    I used this place for her birthday. I was able to give her the perfect time, fulfilling her wish to go glamping and enjoy a sauna. The guidance and service were very attentive, and the Facility was excellent! We were extremely satisfied with the 7m dome, sauna, pool, and BBQ Plan. I want to visit again next year!
