The lounge and buffet were excellent.

As we stayed over the weekend, it was very crowded. In previous Reviews, I had read that there weren’t enough seats in the lounge, causing waits, and that there were lines for the buffet food. However, more seating had been added, and the buffet was set up across two venues with food available in both, so we were able to spend our time comfortably. It was also great that alcohol was available at the buffet. The Room was very spacious, and there were multiple bathrooms and toilets, so even with four people we could stay comfortably with plenty of space. While some aging is unavoidable, the wallpaper was peeling in places and the bedside light bulb was close to burning out. There was an unnecessary kitchen area, but there were no pots or cutlery at all, which left us confused. Also, I would have liked at least coffee to be provided in the Room.

I chose this Hotel because I wanted to visit Parque España with my 3-year-old son. The Japanese-style room was a bit old, but it was spacious enough. My child loved the breakfast and dinner buffet, the welcome drinks and snacks, and the small ice cream after the bath. However, it was disappointing that the elevator took a long time to arrive, and at check-in, two staff members (a man and a woman) standing at the Hotel entrance did not greet us and kept talking to each other as if they had no interest in us.

    Large Public Bath

Although there seemed to be many guests staying, the Room was very quiet—perhaps because the walls are thick—which I really appreciated.

    My first all-inclusi...

My first all-inclusive experience. From 14:30, the lounge was available, with a great selection of light snacks, alcohol, and soft drinks. The Room was also very spacious with an in-room theater, and even with an extra bed it was still comfortable. However… they said dinner and breakfast would be on a rotating schedule, but there were so many people that I wondered if it was really being rotated (lol). For the number of guests, there wasn’t much food… it was an unusual sight to see 15+ people crowding around a single dish. I couldn’t get the dishes I wanted and the meal ended. It seems they limit the number of guests, but when more than 15 people gather around one dish it’s hard to eat and you end up feeling overwhelmed… (lol). It’s very disappointing because the Room, lounge, and bath were all very clean and comfortable. If you’re staying here, you may find that choosing a separate-annex Plan allows you to dine more calmly… (lol).

The last Saturday of summer vacation

This was my fifth stay. This time, I traveled with my two grandchildren. The day before, we spent the whole day at Parque España from opening time, then checked in to the Hotel after 3:00 PM. We were able to use the pool on the first day as well. At the buffet, there was no shabu-shabu this time, and the sukiyaki tasted a bit light, perhaps because more meat had been added. The other dishes were delicious. The next day, we were also able to use the pool from 9:30 AM, and my grandchildren were very happy. Overall, it was a satisfying one-night, two-day stay. I would like to stay again.

We thoroughly enjoyed eating and drinking in both the lounge and the restaurant. The Onsen was also wonderfully relaxing, and this is a Hotel that makes you want to stay on-site as long as possible rather than head to your next destination. With the beautiful surrounding scenery, we think it would be even more enjoyable if morning walking routes—both on and off the property—were prepared and clearly introduced.

If you split the dining area into two sections, I wish the number of dishes and the variety had been equal in both. There may have been only a slight difference at dinner, but breakfast was so different it was shocking! I think we’ll be staying again next year, so I’d be happy if this could be improved.

    Because the Mercure ...

Because the Mercure hotels in Kochi and Tonami were wonderful, I expected a similar experience, but… Perhaps it was because it was right after the Obon holidays and all the staff seemed completely exhausted, but I did not leave with a good impression. What puzzled me was that although three adults were staying, only two bath bags were provided. When I went to the front desk to request one more, I was told they could only provide two. I tried hard to make sense of it, but I still cannot understand. This was not a twin-bed Room; we had reserved a Room for three (twin plus an extra bed), so this strange rule makes no sense. Since there was nothing suitable available, one person went to the public bath carrying items wrapped in a towel. Amenities, towels, cups, and slippers were all provided as sets of three, yet refusing to lend us a third tote bag is what I found most unacceptable.

    Three generations

I was looking for an Accommodation with a pool where I could stay with my grandchildren, so we chose this Hotel. We’ve stayed at various places suitable for three generations, but this Hotel was especially wonderful. The dining area was spacious and comfortable, and the seating arrangement was handled very well, so we could relax and enjoy our time with the grandchildren. We also enjoyed sake, wine, and beer without hesitation. The staff were all pleasant and made a great impression.

    Four generations of a family

This was my second stay (and I have also stayed at other Mercure properties several times). During Obon, the busiest time of the year, four generations of our family stayed here together. Expecting everything to be crowded, we tried to do things as early as possible. As a result, we were able to use the facilities without being too bothered by the crowds, relax in our spacious Room, and everyone in the family was very satisfied. If I may make a request: since this is peak season, Accommodation rates are naturally quite high, so I would like to see more effort put into the meals (both breakfast and dinner). There was a tuna carving show, but I think it would be even more appealing if you enhanced the live kitchen offerings (e.g., steak at dinner; omelets at breakfast) and included more premium items with higher ingredient costs. Also—this may be difficult—but it would be even better if towels were provided at the large public bath rather than having guests bring them from their Room. As this stay was quite expensive, I would appreciate it if you could consider these points.

    We had an amazing time.

This is our annual summer trip with our daughter’s family and our son’s family. Our usual go-to Hotel was under renovation due to a change in management, so we hurriedly searched for another option. A friend had stayed here in spring and said it was excellent, so we decided on this place. The price was very reasonable, and on top of that it was all-inclusive—absolutely fantastic. Since it was summer vacation and there is a pool, the place was full of families with children. Even so, the staff were smiling and extremely kind. The kids and parents enjoyed the pool, while we grandparents relaxed in the lounge with beer, whisky, sparkling wine, and more. The Onsen also had wonderful water quality and was very soothing. Dinner—everyone’s highlight—was quite hectic because there were so many people, but that’s to be expected during summer vacation. Still, the huge number of dishes, the variety of menus, unique ingredients—it was so fun that it made you forget how crowded it was, and everything tasted great. We were also surprised by the selection and quality of alcoholic drinks—it felt far beyond what you’d expect for the price. We stayed split between two Rooms, but we could all gather in the lounge to chat together happily as a family. It also seemed there was ice cream available next to the baths, which made the kids very happy. Breakfast also had an astonishingly wide variety of options. Every single one of us was completely satisfied and delighted. Thank you very much. The only disappointing point was about the pool: the restroom by the poolside was extremely dirty and unhygienic—so shocking even for children due to how filthy it was (to a degree I can’t even describe here). Also, there wasn’t nearly enough shade; they said they were worried about heatstroke. Since there were many families with small children staying here, I really hope these points will be improved. All in all though, every staff member provided pleasant service with a great attitude, and we were truly satisfied with the all-inclusive plan. We would love to stay again next year as well.

    We had a relaxing stay.

We arrived earlier than planned, but we were able to relax in the lounge with a drink. We really enjoyed our stay from the early check-in through the 11:00 check-out. The large public bath was spacious and very pleasant, but the open-air bath was a bit dark at night, so it would be nice to have a little more lighting. Also, it would be helpful if shower caps were always available in the bathing area.

    Ideal for families

Although it was a busy season, we were able to stay more comfortably than expected. 1) Meals: We could choose time slots for both breakfast and dinner. There were many Ise-Shima–style dishes, a wide variety of items, and plenty of desserts to choose from, which was fun. The portions were also more than sufficient. 2) Lounge: It gets quite crowded right after opening, but there are plenty of seats available, and it was great that we could use it even after dinner. 3) Baths: Even during peak times, there was enough space in both the washing area and the baths. The post-bath relaxation area was lovely as well. The ice cream service was only available at set times and there was a line, so I would be even happier if it were available anytime like at other hotels. 4) Facility: The elevators do get crowded, but it helped that they had measures such as making additional elevators available depending on the time of day. 5) Amenities: Toothbrushes and hairbrushes were provided in the Room, but it was disappointing that skincare items like toner and lotion were only available in the women’s large public bath. I would appreciate a system where guests can pick up what they need near the front desk, which has become more common recently. Overall, our whole family had a wonderful time and we were very satisfied with our stay. We would love to visit again in a different season. Thank you very much.

    Great value for money

I stayed here right in the middle of the Obon holiday period. I was worried about capacity issues as mentioned in other Reviews, but it was better than I expected. We stayed on an all-inclusive plan in a 10th-floor ocean-view Room. The Facility and Room were clean and well maintained. The view from the Room was wonderful, with a beautiful red bridge. There was almost no waiting at the front desk or for the elevators. Only at checkout—since we were on a higher floor—we could get on smoothly, but some guests from lower floors couldn’t board because it stopped at every floor. After each seating change, dining got crowded and it was hard to pick up food, but after about 30 minutes it wasn’t an issue. There was a wide variety of food and everything kept being replenished until the end. Breakfast was fine in the 7 o’clock hour, but after 8:00 it became very crowded. In the lounge, alcohol and snacks are all-you-can-eat/drink (for some reason beer is only available until 6:00 PM). The large public bath is open until 11:00 PM—I wished it stayed open a bit longer—but including the relaxation area, it was a calm space to unwind. Before 8:00 PM you can also see fireworks from Shima Spain Village. There were many people and children, so it may not suit those who want a quiet stay, but overall I felt it offered good value for money and I was satisfied.

Obon Holiday 2026. I enjoyed it with my grandchildren.

We had planned to visit during the Obon holidays in 2026 with my daughter and her husband, but my daughter wasn’t feeling well and couldn’t come. Still, I was able to travel with my grandchild. The all-inclusive plan was excellent, the Room was clean and spacious, and both dinner and breakfast were wonderful. Last year we stayed at Mercure Nagahama, so this is our second year in a row staying with Mercure.

    I was satisfied.

After reading some not-so-good Reviews from others, I was prepared for the worst (lol), but both check-in and check-out were smooth, the elevator wait wasn’t very long, and I didn’t get a bad impression. The welcome drink after a long drive was also much appreciated. We used the Room with three people, and it was spacious enough to relax comfortably. The dining area was crowded, but there was no shortage of food, and we were able to enjoy our meal.

    Good value for money.

If you’re visiting Parque España, this is a convenient, affordable, and great place to stay. Since it’s usually very crowded with families, it’s definitely best to avoid peak seasons.

We stayed here as a family.

The Hotel was clean, and the view from the Room was great—we could even see the España fireworks. The meals were luxurious and delicious. The lounge was also nice, with snacks and alcohol available. The sparkling wine was especially good. However, there were many guests staying, so it was crowded. During meal times, it was hard to catch an elevator, but a temporary elevator was operating, so it was still manageable. I would like to stay again.

    A wonderful time

I booked a convenient Hotel for visiting Ise Shrine. Since I reserved an ocean-side Room, I could see the Matoya Bay Bridge from Pearl Road and enjoy the spectacular views of Matoya Bay. The Room had a separate bath and toilet, so it was very comfortable. It was summer vacation, so there were many families staying, but with a pool and Shima Spain Village nearby, it’s a great place for kids to enjoy as well. Both breakfast and dinner were buffet-style with a wide variety of dishes, and everything was delicious. The live kitchen dishes were especially high quality and well worth lining up for. At dinner, we could eat while watching fireworks and had a wonderful time. It was also nice that dining times required Reservations. I relaxed in the Onsen and felt refreshed. Thank you very much. One thing I noticed was that the elevator doors closed too quickly. Because there were many guests, the elevators were constantly full when moving around, so getting off and on took time, and there were several times when someone got caught between the doors.

There are too many children during the summer holidays.

The Japanese-Western style Room had a great view, and the spacious Onsen was perfect for easing travel fatigue, so it was nice to relax in the Room. However, perhaps because it was during summer vacation, there were many families with children—three-generation groups—and they were extremely noisy. I often had to let the elevator go by several times before I could finally get on. The lounge was also full of families with kids. I was looking forward to trying various drinks, but they couldn’t keep up with washing glasses—draft beer came in hot beer mugs—and it was so crowded that I had to search for a seat, which was exhausting. At the restaurant, food disappeared surprisingly fast. Since my dinner and breakfast Reservation times were both the very last slot, some dishes ended up looking messy (for example, people taking only the toppings from chirashi sushi, or leaving no oysters in the oyster stew), and buffet manners felt poor. Fortunately, there were plenty of Japanese dishes that children don’t usually eat left over, so I was satisfied with breakfast. I think this place is great for families with children. But if adults go expecting a club lounge atmosphere, it may be quite disappointing.

The Japanese-style room was also great.

I chose the futon setup in the Japanese-style Room myself. The bedding was comfortable, with a thick mat-type futon available as well. I was traveling with my elderly mother, and there was a chair-and-table seating set in the Room’s veranda area, so we were able to relax comfortably even without staying in a Western-style bedroom with beds. Meals were not very crowded on weekdays, and we enjoyed the buffet at a normal pace. It was nice that soft-serve ice cream was available not only at night but also in the morning. The bath area also had a sauna, which was great, but the cold plunge pool felt lukewarm—if it had been icy cold, it would have been even better. The open-air bath was spacious and very relaxing, with plenty of rocks to sit on for half-body bathing. I’d like to visit again.

    Great value for money.

We stayed here during our summer vacation. The price was very reasonable, and for those who drink alcohol, this Hotel offers excellent value for money! This was our second Grand Mercure stay after Okinawa. In Okinawa we were able to take drinks outside (maybe we weren’t actually supposed to?), but here we couldn’t, which was a bit disappointing. Since we brought a water bottle, we filled it with water from the water dispenser and drank that. We were a little worried about the lounge and elevators, but had no issues and used them comfortably without stress. We chose a partially renovated Japanese-modern Room. The bathroom was an old-style unit bath and the plumbing area felt dated, so taking a bath was a bit difficult. In hindsight, we probably should have chosen a fully renovated Room. Dinner was delicious and we were very satisfied! The public bath was also spacious and great. Overall, considering the price—including alcohol and meals—this level of quality is more than acceptable. Although this Hotel is a bit far from our home, we would like to stay here again when visiting Ise-Shima.

Not an all-inclusive stay for those looking to relax

Although it advertises an all-inclusive plan, most guests are families with children, so it is not suitable for couples who want to relax quietly. No matter where you go in the Facility, it is always extremely crowded. If you want to enjoy an all-inclusive stay and relax at the same time, you should definitely choose TAOYA!

Looking forward to enjoying our all-inclusive stay.

I heard about this place from an acquaintance, and although it’s nearby, we went for an overnight stay during summer vacation. We arrived early and headed straight to the pool—our kids were thrilled. At 2:30 PM, my parents went ahead to the lounge. They really enjoyed the wide variety of snacks and drinks. After that, we soaked in the Onsen and then went to the evening buffet. That day there was a magic show, and the kids were overjoyed! The food was delicious, and we ate a lot! At night, there was a bubble event by the poolside—perfect for photos! I read many Reviews before going, but for me it was a perfect 100/100. It was truly wonderful.

Grand Mercure Ise-Shima Resort & Spa – Annex Matoya

It’s a very large Hotel with many families, so it felt a bit hectic. Most of the front desk staff were foreigners, and communication was sometimes difficult; I also saw other guests having disputes. The Facility also showed noticeable wear and tear in various places, which felt like a shame. However, the annex Matoya was wonderful—the meals were extremely satisfying!!! The service was truly excellent as well, and I would highly recommend it for relaxing if you avoid the summer vacation period. Thank you very much.

Overcrowding (too many guests), too many children, and blocked walkways.

We stayed here to celebrate my parents’ 60th birthday, but from check-in the front desk was slow and the process barely moved forward. There were many foreign staff members, and it was difficult to communicate small details. I’d like to see more effort put into improving service quality. We were looking forward to the all-inclusive plan, but it was crowded like a food court and didn’t feel like an atmosphere adults could enjoy. Dinner also had hundreds of people, and even during the buffet it was so packed that it was hard just to get food. The Onsen hair dryers had handles that got hot, so you should switch from SASONIA. There were also only about six drying stations for the number of guests. Our Room was a triple room with a theater setup, and there was even a potty in it, so I assume children stay there too. But when I opened the large trash can in the wash area, there was a terrible smell—maybe like diapers—so I called staff and had them take it away. If odors remain, you shouldn’t reuse them. It was extremely unpleasant. Also, in any case, the elevators never come. This might be fine for families with kids who just want an inexpensive stay, but it’s not suitable at all for couples or adult trips. The only good point was the nice view.

It’s disappointing and such a waste.

I thought the staff’s efforts, the meals, and the service were good. However, the number of elevators in operation does not match the number of guests, so they take a long time to arrive. Also, because there are many guests and cleaning cannot keep up, I was particularly concerned about trash buildup between the lounge service area and the sofas.

    The all-inclusive package was great.

Thank you very much for your hospitality. At this all-inclusive Hotel, the draft beer in the 1F lounge after arrival was delicious. There were plenty of seats, so we could relax and enjoy it. On the other hand, in the lounge after bathing, only water and tea were available, which was disappointing, and the spacious lounge was empty. As for dining, we enjoyed it along with alcohol. The local specialty Matsusaka beef miso stew was tasty but not very memorable. I thought we could have enjoyed Matsusaka beef more if it had been served as shabu-shabu, sukiyaki, or steak. Our Room was an ocean-view twin with an extra bed added for three people, so it felt a bit small. However, the view was beautiful, and having the bath, toilet, and washbasin separated made it very convenient—overall a great Room. Overall, considering the price and service, it is a good Hotel and one I would like to stay at again.

The value for money was good, but there were many children, so the shared areas such as the dining area, bath, and lobby did not feel relaxing; we spent our time unwinding in our Room.

    Excellent value for money

We stayed as a couple. The all-inclusive plan offers excellent value for money. However, the soft drinks served in the lounge and restaurant tasted watered down (especially the orange juice and oolong tea), perhaps because the machines were not refilled in time. Meals required making a Reservation via mobile phone, but there was no guidance on when Reservations for the next morning’s breakfast would open, which felt unhelpful. We were satisfied with both the variety and taste of the food, and the selection of alcoholic drinks was also sufficient for us. Located within Ise-Shima National Park, it has great views, and we were able to relax at our own pace, so we would like to stay again.
