    The lounge was great.

    We arrived early, around 2:00 pm, and the first-floor lounge was already crowded. We found an open seat and really enjoyed the drinks and snacks. Since we stayed in a Safari Room, our middle-school grandchildren explored around and had fun. It was disappointing that there were only a few sashimi and tempura options at dinner. Other than that, everything was great.

    My son’s first Hotel stay was amazing!

    The all-inclusive plan was very satisfying for families with children. I personally felt nostalgic about the little crunchy ice treats—they reminded me of my childhood, and they were really delicious! The Room was spacious and beautifully renovated, so it felt very clean. The building itself is probably older, so the unit bathroom was extremely small, but it wasn’t an issue since we could use the large public bath. The kids’ area was spacious and really helpful. We planned to use the pool, but it wasn’t open due to unexpectedly low temperatures and weather—this is my only regret. The food was delicious, and they didn’t strictly enforce time limits, so even while juggling our child we were able to eat plenty for the first time in a while. (My recommendations are the kanpyo with wasabi at breakfast and the simmered yuba at dinner.) Our 1-year-and-10-month-old son also seemed to enjoy his first Hotel stay—he was all smiles. (The surprise stuffed toy that came with our Room was adorable; he wouldn’t let go of it, and it made me happy too.) We will definitely come again! Thank you very much!

    Families with children up to early elementary school age will find it very convenient to use.

    We stayed for 2 nights and 3 days from Thursday to Saturday. On Thursday, the entire Hotel felt relatively calm, and we were able to enjoy the adults-only lounge hours and the morning Onsen in a relaxed atmosphere. On Friday, however, the Hotel felt much livelier, and we often heard children’s voices from morning to night (outside our Room). In particular, even during the adults-only lounge hours, children’s voices echoed through the space. It would have been even nicer if we could have enjoyed the live music in a calmer environment. Breakfast offered a wide variety of options, and we were very satisfied with the selection. That said, the flow of traffic in the venue sometimes overlapped with children moving around, which was a bit concerning. We also stayed with a child ourselves; however, since our child was older, our overall impression was that this Hotel is especially well-suited for families with younger children. For adults traveling for peace and quiet, the atmosphere may vary depending on which days you stay or the season. We also saw several guests with tattoos. If tattooed guests are permitted by Hotel policy, clearer information provided in advance would help guests feel comfortable making an informed decision. As for bedding, it felt quite firm to me, and unfortunately I couldn’t sleep well. Comfort is largely personal preference, but I would appreciate having more options. Overall, I think this is an appealing Hotel for families with children. On the other hand—if further efforts are made to create an environment where adults can relax quietly—it could become a Hotel where an even wider range of guests can stay comfortably. Additional note: It was also disappointing that there was no facial cleanser available at the Onsen.

    I stayed here when I...

    I stayed here when I visited Nasu-Shiobara to enjoy the cooler weather. I have also stayed at Mercure in Nagano, Fukuoka, and Kochi, and the lounge in Nasu-Shiobara was spacious and very nice. It also seemed to be available from 2:00 PM. One disappointing point was that there was no towel rack or similar place to hang towels in the Room, so I wish there had been one.

    Family Trip

    We stayed with our 18-month-old grandchild. We felt this Accommodation was very enjoyable for staying with children. The indoor play area and pool were great. The relaxation area just outside the bath was also nice. Our whole family was satisfied with the meals. The Room felt a little small for five adults, but we also enjoyed the Nasu Highlands location, so we would like to stay again when traveling with children. Thank you very much.

    Perfect for families with children

    This was our first stay on a four-generation trip, including my 81-year-old mother and my 2.5-year-old great-grandchild.\nBecause it was all-inclusive, we could enjoy free drinks and snacks in the lounge, as well as complimentary alcohol during meals, which was wonderful.\nWe were also able to use the summer pool, and the children were thrilled.\nWe made a Reservation for two Rooms of different types: four adults (including my mother) stayed in a Superior Twin, and the other four (including two great-grandchildren) stayed in a renovated Family Superior (Baby) Room, which was very clean and comfortable.\nThe Family Superior Room in particular had a small kids’ tent and baby amenities, making it perfect for families with children.\nMeals were buffet-style with a wide variety of options, but we felt there were many international dishes and would have preferred more simple choices.\nWith both indoor and outdoor play areas available, we think this Hotel is an excellent option for families with children.

    We stayed with our 5...

    We stayed with our 5-year-old child. The lounge service and kids’ play area were just as highly rated—excellent! The building was cold, so I wish we had brought long sleeves. Also, while it was generally clean, the age of the Facility showed in places... There were a few disappointing points, but overall we were satisfied.

    It was amazing!!

    We visited as a three-generation family trip! To be honest, we didn’t have very high expectations, but it exceeded them in the best way. Our 4-year-old son was excited from the moment we arrived at the Hotel until we left. He absolutely loved both the indoor and outdoor kids’ areas! The outdoor pool was small, but more than enough to enjoy. For adults, the all-you-can-drink options (beer, etc.) meant we could relax and enjoy without worrying. The buffet might not impress those looking for luxury cuisine, but for us it was fun and delicious. Our child enjoyed eating too, and my father also looked happy eating together with his grandchild. The baths were great as well, with an open-air bath and a sauna. Also, thanks to the Diamond member benefit, we could enter our Room at 2:00 PM, which really helped on arrival day so we could change before using the pool. We also made full use of late check-in and were very happy to receive a souvenir (Goyotei no Tsuki). We’ll definitely be repeat guests. As a downside, there were lots of families with children, so I don’t think it’s suitable for couples or anyone wanting a quiet stay. However, I truly recommend it for families with kids!

    That was disappointing.

    I stayed with my daughter and her husband. I called in advance to request a birthday message and was told it would be arranged, but nothing had been prepared. Since we were traveling with our 1-year-old grandchild, I requested futon bedding at the time of Reservation, but what was provided was bedding for a newborn. My daughter let it slide, but if it had been my daughter-in-law, she might never have agreed to travel with us again. Other Grand Mercure properties I have stayed at did not handle things this way, so perhaps we were just unlucky this time.

    Staying with an 8-year-old and a 4-year-old

    We stayed in the Safari Room on the 4th floor. It was well designed. The Hotel Facility did not feel worn down over time and was clean overall. Having only a few elevators was a bit inconvenient. The food wasn’t great overall (for our 8-year-old), but there was also a kids’ area and cutlery for children (age 4), which we appreciated as a family with kids. Above all, since this Hotel has many children, families can relax without feeling self-conscious.

    The lounge benefits are excellent.

    We always stay at Grand Mercure. What we like about this Hotel is that after check-in, alcoholic and soft drinks are available with unlimited servings. This time, we traveled with 10 family members who love to drink, so it was very helpful that there were no extra charges. We would like to stay again.

    Ideal for family trips with infants and children—great value for money!

    We stayed here for a family trip to celebrate our child’s first birthday. The Hotel is packed with play areas for kids! There are plenty of places where children can play freely both outdoors (parks and the pool) and indoors (a dedicated play area). All the kids, including ours, were playing with big smiles. Meals are buffet-style, with lots of options that children will enjoy. At the dining tables, they can provide everything from kids’ chairs to baby beds depending on your child’s age, so I think families with children of any age can dine comfortably. That said, personally I felt the adult food selection was a little less impressive, so I’d be happy if it could be enhanced a bit! *Considering the cost—and that you can drink alcohol freely—it’s actually very satisfying overall, so this is purely my personal preference! The baths require you to tap your room key to enter, which helps prevent children from going in on their own. It’s a reassuring setup! The bath area is spacious and includes an open-air bath. Both men’s and women’s baths are equipped with infant tubs and soap as well, which made it easy to use. However, our child wouldn’t fall asleep and we couldn’t make it in time for the evening bathing hours, so we weren’t able to fully enjoy it—which was disappointing... In summary: the Hotel is conveniently located with easy access to various spots nearby (including Lake Rindo), and overall it offers a family-friendly environment both inside and outside the Hotel. The value for money is excellent—if you’re unsure about traveling with kids, definitely consider this as one option! We would love to visit again as a family.

    Family-friendly

    A water dispenser is available. If you visit the first-floor lounge around 15:00–18:00, you can enjoy drinks and light snacks. From 21:00, my husband had the alcoholic drinks on his own. We usually buy alcohol outside and drink in our Room, but having lounge service is really great. The post-bath drink service was also delicious. We will make a Reservation again next time.

    Celebrating My Daughter’s Birthday

    Would it be difficult to use without a mobile phone?

    Thank you for your help. At check-in, I was told to scan a QR code with my phone and enter the dinner and breakfast times myself. Since I am not comfortable using my phone, I asked the front desk staff for assistance and managed to complete the entry. I have a Reservation at another Hotel in the same group in September—will the system be the same? It seems to assume that everyone has a phone. Rather than helping guests operate their phones, it would be better to have an alternative method available.

    Satisfied with the meals

    So much food at both dinner and breakfast that we couldn’t finish it all. There was so much to choose from that we couldn’t decide what to eat. We were very satisfied with the meals. We were also able to relax in the bath. However, we stayed as a couple, and the lounge was full of children, so it didn’t feel like a place where we could relax and enjoy a beer. It may be great for families with kids, but it wasn’t quite for us. Is there any way to separate areas for children?

    Excellent!

    Both small children and adults really enjoyed it. During our stay, time flew by. The accommodation cost was affordable, and it was great that there was a wide variety of dishes. It was truly wonderful. We will definitely stay again. Thank you very much for taking care of us during our visit.

    It was absolutely amazing!

    We traveled with our 3- and 5-year-old children. It took about 3 hours by car from Chiba (4 hours with breaks), and we stayed here after spending the day at Nasu Highland Park. We were tired, but it was amazing to relax in the lounge with a drink! The kids had a blast in the play area. The food was delicious too—we were worried because our kids are picky eaters, but they ate a lot. The Onsen and large public bath were wonderful, and we could truly unwind. We wanted to visit the lounge at night as well, but we adults didn’t have the energy… Next time, we’d love to come again with this place as our main destination. Thank you very much!

    The difference between delicious and not delicious

    I had a comfortable stay. The welcome drink helped me unwind after my trip. Dinner was mostly delicious, but there were a few disappointing items. In particular, the chili shrimp was not good and needs improvement. I was impressed by how thoroughly the facilities were cleaned. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

    We stayed with an el...

    We stayed with an elderly family member and an infant. The Room felt a bit old, but it was clean, and we were able to borrow a baby crib. Since we had a baby, we ran out of towels, but when we asked the front desk, they kindly provided extra ones. The washbasin/toilet area was small, which was a little disappointing. The bath area is spacious, but during busy times I was concerned about hygiene (such as the mats). When drying hair as well, there weren’t enough hair dryers, so it felt like we had to wait. It would be nice to have tissues by the sinks. The amazake served before and after bathing was delicious—excellent. Having dinner and breakfast included and being able to borrow a baby crib was very helpful. The staff’s guidance was smooth and pleasant. There were many food options and plenty of drinks too, so we were satisfied. Overall, it was very accommodating for families with children, and we were very satisfied. We’d like to stay again when our child is a bit older. Thank you very much to all the staff.

    We’re constantly improving.

    I have stayed here three years in a row, and compared with when it reopened as Mercure three years ago, it has become more comfortable—such as the addition of a family lounge and making meal times reservation-based to avoid crowding. I was able to enjoy a wonderful time with my grandchildren. The play area on the first floor had a strong musty odor from the carpet, so I felt regular disinfection and deodorizing are necessary. At the restaurant, especially in the morning, there was a long line for the coffee machine; having two machines would likely reduce waiting time.

    My expectations were too high...

    I’ve stayed several times at your Yatsugatake property and really like it, but this was my first stay at Nasu Highlands. Facility There are many play areas for children, and our child seemed to enjoy them the whole time. However, I was very bothered by the smell in the first-floor play area (like sweat soaked into the carpet). Baths Both the indoor and outdoor baths were very pleasant. Meals We were told seating was open, but almost all sofa seats were marked as reserved, and some tables had signs indicating they were for groups of 5–6 or more. When we asked the restaurant staff, we were told “This is reserved” and “This one isn’t available either,” so we couldn’t choose freely. The only seats left were tightly spaced with little room between tables. In the end, none of the reserved seats or group-only tables were filled during our stay. This may not be an issue for guests who don’t mind where they sit, but for us—since we value a comfortable dining space—we couldn’t enjoy our meal. I understand wanting to keep larger tables available for big groups, but if guests request them, I feel it would be reasonable to guide them there. It left me feeling so uncomfortable that it lowered my overall impression of the stay.

    The Facility is new,...

    The Facility is new, and the Hotel was clean and comfortable throughout our stay. Compared with the Grand Mercure in Yatsugatake that we used previously, the all-inclusive offerings felt a bit more modest, but considering the easy access from the Kanto area and the wide range of nearby activity facilities, overall it was a highly satisfying stay. The food was delicious as well. However, both breakfast and dinner buffet venues were quite crowded, and with many guests traveling with children, it took a little time to get food. There were also in-house events like a stamp rally, which our child happily joined—this was a nice touch. I think this Hotel is very convenient for families.

    The welcome service was a bit disappointing.

    Thank you very much for a comfortable stay and meals. The Accommodation has been fully renovated, and the cleaning throughout was thorough, so our satisfaction was very high. The meals featured many creative dishes made with locally sourced ingredients, with more variety and volume than we could finish, and everything was delicious. The front desk staff member from Vietnam spoke fluent Japanese and worked very efficiently, which was great. One service point I think could be improved is that although check-in is available from 1:00 PM, the welcome service only opens from 3:00 PM, the same as room access time, which was a bit disappointing. Guests who arrived early had nothing to do while waiting. At other all-inclusive properties such as TAOYA, it can be used immediately upon arrival, so it would be even better if it opened from the 1:00 PM check-in time. Please reconsider this if possible. For families, there are many Facilities to enjoy both inside and outside the building, so it is highly recommended. For those who want a quiet resort stay, it may feel too lively and may not be suitable. The accommodation rates are also very reasonable overall, resulting in high satisfaction.

    Relaxation

    It was far better than I ever imagined! The Room was spotless, and both the lobby and the view from the window felt wonderfully open. Seeing all that greenery, the blue sky, and the horizon—and being able to gaze at such a vast sky—made me truly happy. The morning bath was also so refreshing. Since I usually live in a concrete jungle... it really cleared my mind (maybe I was more tired than I realized, haha). Next time, I’ve decided to book a Multiple Night Stay!! To come here and do nothing. I look forward to staying with you again.

    We used it for a family gathering!

    The Room felt a bit old, but it was all-inclusive and we were able to enjoy plenty! We had a fun, lively time dining together, there were play facilities for small children, and everyone enjoyed themselves. There was also an Onsen, and we were satisfied.

    Thank you to the front desk staff.

    It was affordable and excellent. I came to climb Mt. Nasu, but although the weather was good, strong winds forced the ropeway to suspend operations, so I had to change my plans. When I told the front desk staff what I was hoping for, they gave me spot-on advice and helped me find a great alternative route. Thank you very much.
