Free beer in the room is a nice touch, but...

Free beer in the in-room refrigerator. There were also curry rice crackers as snacks, which was a nice touch for a drink after a spacious, comfortable bath. However, the fridge didn’t cool well—it was lukewarm. Perhaps it doesn’t have enough time to chill between setup after the 11:00 check-out. It quickly became very disappointing. There is no temperature control dial on the refrigerator, so it can’t be adjusted. (The complimentary bottled water was left in the fridge until the next morning as well, but it still wasn’t very cold.) I remembered having the same experience when I stayed last year, so I decided to post this feedback. (There was no questionnaire form in the Room, and I also forgot to mention it at check-out.) All other services and Facility were satisfactory, so I hope this will be improved.

    Short Stay

I couldn’t travel far during summer vacation due to caring for a parent, so I stayed here for a short trip from Yokohama. Some parts of the Facility felt a bit dated, but I was able to relax while watching the constant stream of ships on the Uraga Channel from my Room. In the evening, I walked about 15 minutes to a local sushi restaurant and enjoyed locally caught fish, and in the morning I was very satisfied with the Hotel buffet. The baths were also excellent and truly relaxing. It felt like I had found a nearby retreat that I can visit anytime.

    Overall, it was good.

We decided to visit on short notice the day before, and it turned out to be a great choice. Since we chose glamping, it would have been even better if we could have had a BBQ, but because it was booked the day before (perhaps due to ingredient availability), we couldn’t select a Plan that included BBQ. We’ve stayed at other Kyoritsu Resort properties several times, but many do not allow advance dinner time reservations. Even if you arrive early, there’s a high chance you’ll be assigned a late time, and the wait can be quite long—so at Kyoritsu Resort we generally don’t add a course dinner. For breakfast, there were many dishes I wanted to try; everything was delicious and very satisfying. It isn’t particularly luxurious, but both in the Room and at the spa, I found the scent and sound of the sea very soothing. There is ice cream service at night and Yakult in the morning; however, I was disappointed by several guests opening the ice cream freezer (which is covered during breakfast hours) and eating from it—poor manners. Also, I would appreciate it if parking were free for guests. That said, at other Kyoritsu Resort properties some services that used to be free have actually become paid recently—so perhaps they are gradually moving toward charging for them… Even though it’s an easy trip from our home, it still feels like getting away on vacation. I’d like to visit again when I have another opportunity.

    Beyond expectations

This was my third stay at a Kyoritsu Resort property and my first time at the La Vista series. We stayed for two nights, and I expected to get tired of having the same set-course dinner two days in a row, but I was surprised that the meals on the first and second nights were completely different. The children’s meals were also entirely different menus. We really enjoyed the private baths, the Onsen, and the pool. The view of boats from the window was also wonderful. It was an Hotel that exceeded our expectations.

A Resort Hotel near the city that feels captivating no matter how many times you visit

Since it opened, I have stayed here about two or three times a year. This Hotel has three floors, and each floor has its own advantages in terms of views and convenience. The 3rd floor offers outstanding views and is highly recommended for guests who prioritize scenery. This time I stayed on the 2nd floor. While the view is not quite as spectacular as on the 3rd floor, you can still enjoy a great ocean view. In particular, rooms closer to the front desk let you see the shoreline right nearby, which really highlights how close you are to the sea. On the other hand, rooms farther down the corridor feel a bit more removed from the ocean, and nearby buildings may come into view. The 1st floor is best for those who do not place much importance on views, but it is very convenient because it is on the same level as the pool, private baths, and public bath—so there is no need to change elevators when moving around inside. Normally this is a relatively quiet Hotel, but since this stay was during summer vacation season, there were many families with children and the pool was quite lively. The lobby and areas around the private baths were similar, so for someone like me who prefers a calm atmosphere, I felt I may have chosen the wrong time to visit. There was a minor misunderstanding regarding breakfast guidance, but it was resolved pleasantly thanks to excellent handling by the manager. Some staff members seem still relatively new, but there are also experienced team members who provide solid support. This reminded me again that it is a Hotel where you can feel at ease even if something comes up during your stay. One thing that has been bothering me recently is the citrus aroma used near the elevator hall. The scent is quite strong and has entered my room on several occasions. This time there happened to be availability and they kindly prepared another room of the same type for me, which I appreciated; however, I would be happy if they could reconsider both its intensity and fragrance choice. I also find it slightly disappointing that pool hours end at 5:00 PM. Even only during summer seasonally—if there were evening hours as a night pool—I think it would further enhance this Hotel’s unique resort atmosphere. In summer months, sometimes the water temperature also feels quite lukewarm; I would appreciate improvements in temperature management as well. Despite being relatively close to central Tokyo with convenient access, this is a rare Hotel where an expansive ocean view spreads out right in front of you and you can truly enjoy a resort getaway feeling. It remains one of my favorite Hotels no matter how many times I visit, so I would like to continue staying here regularly in the future.

This was my first return visit in several years. I suddenly had time off, remembered how much I enjoyed this Hotel before, and made a Reservation the day before. In the large public bath, I was able to enjoy a uniquely relaxing time while watching ships pass through Uraga and gazing up at the wide sky. The “shape-up” bath worked wonders for my stiff shoulders. The dinner course and breakfast buffet were both flawless. The outdoor pool is open from 9:00 to 17:00, which felt a bit restrictive in today’s midsummer heat, so I didn’t use it. There are some steps inside the building, so it may be challenging as one gets older—I’d like to come back again sooner rather than later.

A Hotel you’ll want to visit at least once a year

We stayed last summer as a couple and were extremely satisfied, so this year we visited again around the same time, this time with three people in two Rooms. With its convenient location close to the city center, the view from the Room, excellent dinner and breakfast plus late-night snacks, the lounge, private baths, SPASSO, and the pool—everything you’d expect from a Resort Hotel—we were once again very satisfied. We also feel that the Hotel staff’s hospitality is outstanding. A couple of notes (requests): we noticed that refrigerator types differ by Room; one did not have a freezer function, so we couldn’t chill beer quickly to an ice-cold temperature. We only realized this because we had two Rooms this time, but we hope all Rooms can be equipped with the same functions. Another request is for the stone sauna—we would be happy if it could also be available in the morning. We plan to visit again next summer as well, so we would appreciate your consideration.

A Hotel Where You Can Enjoy Both the Beach and the Pool

We stayed two nights in a glamping lodge. The Room was clean and comfortable, and it was great that we could BBQ right in front of the Room. Kannonzaki Beach is within walking distance, so it’s nice to go to the sea in the morning and then use the Hotel pool in the afternoon. One downside is that to get to the boardwalk right in front, you have to exit the Hotel once and take a detour. It would have been better if there were a direct route from the glamping lodge to the boardwalk. The BBQ portions were more than enough, and you can chill drinks in the cooler box in front of the lodge, so they stay ice-cold. The bath area was spacious, and we could use the stone sauna for free; best of all, having a private bath available 24 hours for free was incredibly convenient. Overall, it’s a wonderful Hotel, especially recommended for families.

    Kids will love it.

The Facility amenities were well equipped, and we really enjoyed our stay. The large public bath was wonderful—amazing views and absolutely the best. It would be even more convenient if there were outdoor sandals available for children, which would make getting around smoother.

Stay to celebrate your husband’s birthday

This was my third stay since the rebrand to La Vista. I have been coming here since the Keikyu days because I love the views and the separate bath Facility. I felt that the check-in process and other procedures have improved and are now smoother. If luggage left before check-in could be delivered to the Room as a service on par with a top-tier Hotel, it would be perfect. I already knew from my previous stay that dinner time can be as late as 8:00 p.m., so this time I was fine after having some snacks I brought with me. There was a lounge service of curry bread and tokoroten, but since the curry bread seemed to be cut into eight pieces, it didn’t really feel like much of a light snack. Dinner was delicious, and they decorated a dessert plate with a birthday message—my husband was very happy, thank you very much. However, when we wanted to order drinks, our table staff seemed very busy and it was hard to get their attention, which was disappointing. At Spasso in the separate building, women have to enter a passcode at the changing room entrance, which was inconvenient—especially when going to the stone sauna. This is an issue with some guests rather than the Accommodation itself, but there were people who entered the bath without rinsing first (an older Japanese guest), which was troubling. Overall, we were able to use the pool after the rebrand this time as well, and it was a satisfying stay. We will visit again.

    Wonderful Hotel

The Room was spacious, and the view from the balcony was amazing. Since the spa is available only to guests, it wasn’t crowded and I could relax and enjoy it. The meals were delicious and very filling. I’d been interested in this Hotel for a long time, and even though it’s close to the city center, it really felt like a resort getaway. The staff were also very pleasant. I’d love to come again.

We were satisfied with everything—the bath, the Room, and the meals. The bath was truly blissful; we could relax while looking out at the sea. Breakfast offered a great variety, and we ended up eating too much. Our family was very happy as well and is already saying we should come again. Thank you very much.

    Typhoon

We stayed as a family of four. With a typhoon approaching, we were worried about whether glamping would be possible, but we were contacted in advance and switched to the Hotel building. The staff member who assisted us by phone was very helpful and offered several options to accommodate us. This was our third stay, and we were satisfied with the large public bath and the stone sauna. Since it’s close to the sea, we hope to visit again in summer.

    Meal service timing, etc.

I stayed here last year, and this was my second visit. Dinner service for the full-course meal was slow, and both last year and this year—10 minutes before the end—we were told, “We can serve snacks such as cheese.” We were given one portion of cheese and dessert and had to eat in a hurry. If the timing were managed a bit better, we could have enjoyed the meal at a more relaxed pace… It’s a shame, because the food is excellent. Also, since dinner starts at 5:30 PM, we used the stone sauna and bath beforehand, but there was only a clock inside the bathing area, which was very inconvenient. It would be helpful if you could install one somewhere outside.

    A consistently reliable La Vista.

I’ve been a long-time fan of Kyoritsu Resort, and I especially love the La Vista series. This time as well, we had a Room with a great view, and both the meals and the Onsen were excellent, making for a very comfortable stay. Their attentive service—always anticipating what you need—is one of their strengths. A few minor points: the route to the Onsen felt a bit too long, each private bath lacked distinct character, and there were slight delays between food and drink service. Still, it offers great value for money and is an Accommodation I’d like to visit again and again.

I stay here regularly, and I always look forward to the meals. This time, the whipped cream on the dessert was too heavy for me to finish. The autumn Mont Blanc was delicious. I would prefer smaller portions with higher quality. I will stay again.

    Portion size

I used to visit often back in the Keikyu days. This was my first stay since the renovation.\n\nPerhaps to cut labor costs, there are noticeably fewer staff. I assume that’s also why it’s essentially all-inclusive.\n\nSince it’s close by, I’d like to keep coming… so I have a small request.\n\nAbove all, the amount of food is enormous. I was disappointed by how few snacks were offered with the welcome drink, but now I realize why! I strongly recommend not eating any snacks you buy beforehand.\n\nThere were generous appetizers, soup, salad, bread, pasta (even if counted as “soup”), and a proper main course with both fish and meat. Each portion was large and the sauces were plentiful. Then came an unexpected offer of bamboo shoot rice and miso soup. After reluctantly declining that, dessert was also huge… and on the way out we were invited for late-night soba. The breakfast buffet the next morning was incredible as well.\n\n“All-inclusive” here seems like a system where only those who can fully take advantage of this massive amount of food—plus access to Spasso baths, ice cream, and drinks—really benefit.\n\nIf you can’t eat that much or don’t use the baths, you’re still paying for it.\n\nAs others have mentioned, could you create a light-meal Plan or a Plan without Spasso? Even if only during the off-season.\n\nIt’s such a shame—this is nearby and the renovation was decent…\n\nFor those of us who simply can’t keep up with it all, we may have to think twice about returning.\nIf your target is mainly younger guests and inbound travelers only, then I suppose there’s nothing to be done.

    We had a relaxing stay.

The ocean was right in front of us, and it felt wonderfully open and relaxing. Since we booked an all-inclusive Plan, we could enjoy refills of alcoholic drinks during meals, which was great. The food was delicious across the board and very filling. When I mentioned it was my birthday, they surprised me with a dessert featuring a “HAPPY BIRTHDAY” message, which made me very happy. Next time, we’re thinking about staying in the glamping area.

    Overall satisfied

We stayed one night in the glamping area. The breakfast was luxurious, including items like sashimi. The facilities were sufficient and clean, and the Onsen was calm and relaxing, so overall we were mostly satisfied. However, considering the price range, several small disappointments in the glamping-side service added up, so I’d like to share them. - At the start of the BBQ, they forgot our child’s hamburger sauce and brought it almost an hour later. - Compared with other hotels, there were fewer towels. They didn’t dry due to the rain. When it was crowded, there was no staff at the Onsen front desk, and since the Hotel front desk is far away as well, it felt difficult to ask for towel replacement. - We couldn’t find where to check in (it seems the Onsen facility also serves as the front desk), so we wandered around. I’d appreciate clearer guidance on IKYU’s Reservation page and on-site signage/instructions. - Regarding paid parking: at check-in we handed over our parking ticket for processing; then at check-out we paid at the front desk and were asked again to show/confirm the parking ticket. The procedure isn’t very common, so it was confusing. - It was a busy time during check-out, but only one person was working at the front desk and seemed overwhelmed; when we finished checking out there was no greeting from that staff member. We didn’t see any other employees or receive a send-off either, so leaving felt a bit lonely. I’ve written quite a lot, but overall I think it’s a good Hotel, and we were satisfied with how politely we were treated in the Hotel building—so if we have another chance, next time I’d like to stay in that building instead.

    Third stay

We visited as a family during Golden Week. The drinks and snacks available until the evening were great—since there were staff on hand this time, items were replenished when they ran out, and there was a good variety such as ice cream puffs and rusks. The loungewear was a separate top and bottom, with plenty of sizes for both adults and children. There were also extra towels prepared in the Room, which we really appreciated. Perhaps because it was Golden Week, there were many families. The large public bath wasn’t crowded, but we had to wait to use the private bath. After-bath ice cream included chocolate flavor and wafer sandwiches, which made the kids very happy. For dinner, children had a one-plate meal while adults had a course meal, so the timing didn’t quite match. However, our table attendant N served us efficiently, which we truly appreciated. As I wrote in my previous Review as well, for infants and toddlers the teriyaki fish and curry were too strongly seasoned/salty—they stopped after one bite or drank lots of water. It may be just right for elementary school children, but we would like milder seasoning options for infants and toddlers. Late-night soba: this time our whole family was able to enjoy it together. It was delicious. Breakfast: as always excellent, with a wide variety at the buffet such as freshly fried tempura and all-you-can-eat strawberries. It was disappointing that there was no child toilet seat or step stool in the Room. Pre-payment is convenient.

The ocean view from the Room is outstanding.

The ocean-view Room on the 3rd floor offers a full view of the sea the moment you step inside—it instantly lifts your mood. The food was delicious beyond expectations. For that price, the evening course meal is an incredible value. The presentation was beautiful, the beef was tender, and even though I’m not a fan of the buttery richness typical of French cuisine, I was very satisfied with everything except the fish sauce. Portions are very generous, so I recommend arriving really hungry. The restaurant felt bright in the early evening, and by the time we finished it had turned into a night view, making for a relaxed experience. The bath was also spacious and soothing. The only downside—and why I deducted one star—was that the flooring around the in-room toilet and the sink area felt a bit dated. Still, I’d love to come again.

    National Defense Academy Sports Day

I understand that the loud drumming at the National Defense Academy’s sports day is for national defense and can’t be helped, but I would like you to post the noisy time periods at the front desk and also inform guests at the time of Reservation on IKYU, as I couldn’t even take a nap. Please convey seriously to the National Defense Academy that while this Hotel may tolerate such noise, it becomes a critical issue unless guests are notified of the schedule in advance. Also, I was told that check-in procedures would start at 1:30 p.m., so I waited 30 minutes and when it was my turn, I was told: “We can’t give you the key yet. It will be from 2:00 p.m.” If so, please tell guests that clearly from 1:00 p.m. (I could have gone for a walk or spent the time elsewhere.) As a result, I wasted an hour around the front desk area where there wasn’t even lunch or anything available.

    The welcome service ...

The welcome service was excellent, the ocean-view room was spacious, the dinner service was attentive, and breakfast offered a wide variety—overall, it was a very satisfying day. However, dinner was served in two seatings, and although we checked in early, we were told the first seating was already fully booked, so we ended up with a late time slot and our plans were disrupted. It would have been helpful to be able to choose a dinner time during the Reservation process so we could plan accordingly; that part was disappointing.

Recommended for guests who want to relax and unwind.

Four of us (all women) stayed over the weekend. The Room is a bit dated, but it was very clean and we were able to relax comfortably. The only disappointment was that the large sofa in the Room was badly sagging and made my lower back hurt. It might have been better with some extra cushions. The windows face the Uraga Channel, so we could watch ships passing by up close—from large vessels to yachts—and even saw squirrels in the garden. The view was wonderful and never got boring. Dinner was a delicious course meal featuring local ingredients. Our seating started at 8:00 p.m. (the earlier dinner times were already fully booked at check-in), and we were surprised by how generous the portions were—we couldn’t finish everything. It would be nice to have a lighter course option for seniors and women. The Onsen private bath available 24 hours a day was excellent. All of the staff were attentive, and overall we had a very pleasant stay. Thank you very much.

    La Vista/Accommodation is a safe choice—you can’t go wrong.

La Vista (Kyoritsu Group) is consistently a solid choice overall. “Upper mid-range”: not luxury, but a safe and reliable Accommodation, including the meals. Kannonzaki Terrace is a renewal of the former Keikyu Kannonzaki Hotel, with the bathing Facility “spasso” in a separate building offering a sauna and hot stone spa, providing a spacious and relaxing atmosphere. However, it’s a bit of a walk from the Hotel building and requires using an outdoor passageway for part of the route, which can be inconvenient on cold or rainy days.

This was not my first stay here, but there were several disappointing points.

This was my third stay. I always leave the Reservation to my travel-loving eldest daughter, and this time as well she booked through IKYU. We usually arrive a little before 3:00 p.m., and at check-in we request the earliest dinner seating. This time we also arrived shortly before 3:00 p.m., but were told, “The earliest seating is already full, so dinner will start at 7:45 p.m.” We were also told that priority for choosing dinner times has changed to guests who book via the official website. If the Hotel changed the rules for its own convenience, shouldn’t they notify guests who booked through channels other than the official site by phone or email? Also, as on our second-to-last visit, the meat served at dinner was tough and cold. Last time it was tender and served piping hot, so this was disappointing. Because our dinner was pushed to a late time, we couldn’t have the late-night soba we were looking forward to, and we could barely eat breakfast either. We liked this place and stayed about once every six months, but this visit made it clear that this is not a Hotel that values repeat guests. We probably won’t stay again.
