    Blissful Time ~ GoatoHeaven

    This was my second visit at the end of the year. The staff’s thoughtful hospitality was even better than before, and the cuisine—both in creativity and flavor—was full of surprises and truly moving. The wood-fired dishes were outstanding. I also enjoyed the wine pairing, and had wonderful conversations with the staff. I was captivated by the pure white Mt. Fuji view from my Room, and I used the sauna and Onsen many times—both mind and body felt completely refreshed. The three goats have grown even more adorable over the past year, each with their own unique personality. You can really tell they’ve been raised with so much love by the staff. They’re as friendly as dogs—you can pet them as much as you like—and it’s also charming to see them slip through the fence and stretch their necks like giraffes to munch on feed. Truly animal therapy. I went to see them many times during my stay. I’d love to stay here at Cocon again this year at year-end as well. Thank you always, and I look forward to returning for many years to come.

    Gourmet cuisine, heartfelt hospitality, and relaxation with friendly goats.

    This stay once again exceeded our expectations. One of the highlights is the natural yet attentive hospitality of the staff, ensuring guests feel at ease from arrival to departure. Although it was unfortunately rainy this time, the large windows in the room offer a stunning view of Mount Fuji beyond Hakone's outer mountains. With a separate bedroom, you can relax and unwind in the spacious living area. Additionally, enjoying Owakudani Onsen and sauna in your room at any time is one of its unique charms. Dinner featured modern French cuisine crafted by Chef Yokoyama, showcasing his exceptional creativity. For Christmas, dishes were beautifully presented with red, white, and green colors that delighted both our eyes and palate with seasonal flavors. Each dish highlighted its ingredients' natural essence with deep aromas and flavors while leaving a refreshing aftertaste—allowing us to indulge without feeling heavy even after multiple courses. The anago sushi prepared as a late-night snack was another masterpiece reflecting meticulous craftsmanship. We always look forward to wine pairings that complement each meal perfectly; this time included rare French selections like Meursault and Gevrey-Chambertin along with dessert wines—all absolutely delightful! Thank you for such an exquisite experience. Breakfast was equally outstanding—carefully prepared using premium ingredients—and featured luxurious "Tai-meshi" (offered during your third stay). Despite usually eating lightly in the morning, we enjoyed every bite of both side dishes and Tai-meshi. Not to be forgotten are the three goats (Oribe, Kohaku & Sora), whose growth we eagerly anticipate on each visit—a charming part of our stay that makes us look forward to returning again soon. With thoughtful attention to detail and exceptional cuisine throughout our visit—it has become an irreplaceable retreat where my spouse & I can escape daily life completely!

    This was the last On...

    This was the last Onsen trip of the year, and I was really looking forward to it. It turned out to be the best among the 10 accommodations I visited this year. The staff were all cheerful and professional, with consistent service throughout, which was impressive. Unlike some accommodations where there is a lack of coordination or inexperienced service that can cause discomfort, there was absolutely no stress here. The meals were creatively arranged and absolutely delicious, making them a delightful experience. The private bath in the room allowed fresh air in when opening the window, providing a relaxing time that left me very satisfied. However, having a screen door would help keep insects out and make it even better. I also thought it would be nice if wine could be included in the room's alcohol selection. I am looking forward to visiting again next time! Thank you very much!

    The Room and service were very comfortable. Dinner was satisfying with just the right amount and high quality. Unfortunately, the weather didn’t allow us to see Mt. Fuji, but I would love to stay here again.

    Exceptional Hospitality

    This was our second stay at the accommodation, as requested by my mother. This time, it was a three-generation birthday trip with my sauna-loving son, and all generations were thoroughly satisfied with the stay. From the email correspondence during the reservation process to the shuttle service and the hospitality of the hotel staff, everything was exceptional, leaving us impressed once again. The dedication to understanding customers' needs is evident throughout. My mother was especially delighted that her favorite teas—black tea, herbal tea, and honey—were beautifully arranged on the table with colorful cups as they were during our previous stay. She also appreciated having breakfast delivered to our room. The refrigerator even had alcohol replenished; my son immediately opened champagne and indulged in saunas all day long. The staff mentioned that this service could replace lounge access—and indeed, being able to enjoy everything in our room without needing to dress up or put on makeup for a lounge visit made it incredibly convenient. As for meals this time as well, we enjoyed them paired with wine. While we are not heavy drinkers usually, we found ourselves captivated by both the presentation and taste of each dish—and naturally drank more wine than usual! The portion sizes were just right for me and my mother but seemed slightly small for my son; however, he made up for it by savoring late-night snacks prepared for three people along with champagne while continuing his sauna sessions until midnight. The goat therapy session provided relaxation once again and added another wonderful memory to cherish from this trip. We look forward to meeting all of your amazing staff members again next time!

    A luxurious hotel with only 5 rooms set on a vast property surrounded by the natural beauty of Hakone. The attentive yet unobtrusive service from the hotel representative, general manager, and staff was truly pleasant. Thank you for providing shuttle service to nearby tourist spots. Both dinner and breakfast featured locally sourced ingredients with creatively named dishes that were absolutely delicious. Next time, I would love to enjoy a multiple night stay!

    Completely captivated

    This was my third visit since its opening last year and my second this year, and I have completely fallen in love with its timeless charm. From the courteous emails at the time of Reservation to the warm send-off after checkout, I am always impressed by the exceptional service provided by the staff. With only five Rooms available, there is a strong sense of privacy, and everything from the meals to the Rooms, Onsen, and sauna has become a favorite of mine. If I may make one suggestion: while it seems possible to request them, it would be nice if Japanese tea or black tea were readily available in advance. Also, I slightly missed the science experiment-like presentation during dessert at dinner that was offered on previous visits. Having visited twice before in springtime, this time we came in autumn and thoroughly enjoyed Hakone's autumn foliage as well as Sengokuhara's silver grass along our journey. Additionally, although Mount Fuji was hidden by clouds on our arrival day, we were moved beyond words when we saw its snow-capped peak glowing red under the sunrise early next morning—it made for an unforgettable trip. Thank you so much! On a side note: I was surprised to see how much bigger your goats have grown since my first visit! I'm already looking forward to seeing everyone again next time!

    Everything was perfect and completely satisfying.

    The high rating on IKYU made me very excited, and it exceeded my expectations. The staff, with extensive experience in the same service industry, made me feel completely at ease. From the moment of Reservation, I was impressed by their response. The Shuttle Service was satisfying, and being welcomed by three goats brought a sense of calmness. I enjoyed the free drinks thoroughly. The modern French dinner was full of creative ideas from the chef using local ingredients and was incredibly delicious; the wine pairing was also excellent. I was very satisfied with the Facility, including the Room's bath & sauna & cold bath as well as the large public bath with an herbal bath. Although I initially worried about going up to my Room on the third floor without an elevator, it turned out to be unnecessary since breakfast in a Japanese set meal style could be served in my Room. Thanks to extending check-out time for us, we were able to fully enjoy Room dining + additional champagne + Onsen at our leisure. Everything exceeded satisfaction levels so much that right after returning home, I immediately made another Reservation for my birthday celebration next time! Looking forward to it again—thank you!

Despite some rather demanding requests on our part, everything was handled with a warm smile and willingness, allowing our family to enjoy a very memorable and delightful day.     I often use membership-based Resort Hotels, but I regularly visit this Hotel. I am always grateful for the courteous service provided by the manager and staff. I look forward to the seasonal changes in meals, and this time I noticed a slightly new approach in the overall composition. It felt fresh, including differences in personal preferences. The Onsen felt softer than before, allowing for greater relaxation. While there were some minor concerns regarding the Facility, I truly love this Room and hope it becomes even more comfortable in the future. I look forward to visiting again during a different season.

    The room is very clean, furnished with luxurious European-style furniture, and features a private Onsen as well as a sauna. Both the modern French dinner and traditional Japanese breakfast were exquisitely refined and creatively prepared, offering an exceptional dining experience. This small luxury accommodation has only five rooms but includes a proper public bath and provides a full range of thoughtfully selected amenities. The staff are incredibly hospitable, making our one-night stay extremely comfortable. I would love to stay in another type of room next time. I look forward to visiting again in the future!

However, I found it bothersome to receive the same explanation repeatedly from different staff members. I was looking for a place with high ratings on IKYU, offering just five Rooms for a calm and relaxing stay. Kokon was perfect for that.     From the requested Shuttle Service from Kowakudani to the next day's check-out Shuttle Service, we enjoyed a thoroughly pleasant and thoughtful experience. All staff members were friendly and attentive, with subtle yet excellent hospitality. The goats Kohaku-chan, Oribe-chan, and Sora-chan warmly welcomed us, providing a soothing atmosphere. Feeding them was a delightful experience. The Room's sofa was outstanding, with ample drinks and snacks provided. We were especially surprised that the half-bottle of champagne in the refrigerator was complimentary. Having a private sauna in the Room is rare; we used it multiple times along with the bath. The hot spring quality left our skin feeling smooth and rejuvenated. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious. The wine pairing at dinner offered a wide variety of choices and is highly recommended. After days of work-related fatigue leaving both body and mind drained, this stay brought much-needed refreshment. After check-out, we were kindly taken to Chōanji Temple in Sengokuhara as recommended by staff. It is famous for its autumn foliage. Although mid-October only showed partial autumn colors on some branches, the lush greenery was equally refreshing. The Gohyaku Rakan statues were impressive; strolling through them felt like cleansing one's soul. Thank you for recommending this wonderful spot! We would love to visit Sengokuhara Kokon again. Thank you for providing such a comfortable time!

    The staff engaged with us frequently during our stay, subtly listening to our requests, which made it easy and comfortable to ask for assistance. The accommodation seemed thoughtfully designed to ensure guests' comfort, from the replenishment of amenities to their variety. For instance, the hairdryer provided was the exact same model I use at home, which is rare in hotels and made me very happy. Additionally, instead of standard creamer portions for coffee, they kindly brought fresh milk—a thoughtful gesture we truly appreciated. The room was incredibly spacious and practical. The bathroom in the room was also large enough for a relaxing soak with legs fully stretched out. While I’m not particularly fond of saunas and would have preferred a stone sauna option, the wooden aroma from the sauna added a soothing touch when using the bath. However, I did find that the shower water pressure was on the weaker side; improving this would be greatly appreciated as it might be challenging for women with long hair to wash thoroughly. We were so impressed by how comfortable and convenient the loungewear provided was that my spouse and I ended up purchasing full sets! Being tall and larger-sized myself, I often find hotel loungewear or pajamas too small; however, these truly fit as free-size wear. On the other hand, while pajamas were made from non-stretch cotton material that felt tight on me, socks were also quite rigid—my husband couldn’t wear them at all due to tightness—and we had them exchanged for different sizes. It would be wonderful if more stretchable options could be considered for socks in particular. Above all else—the food was absolutely incredible! The foie gras and matsutake mushroom dishes left us speechless with their exquisite flavors. Many dishes utilized wood-fired cooking methods like charcoal grilling or smoking—perfectly suited to our love of aromatic cuisine! We don’t drink alcohol but greatly appreciated having non-alcoholic pairing options available. Breakfast felt like an ideal morning meal—it couldn’t have been better! Every ingredient used reflected careful selection: rice, vegetables, eggs—all exceptionally delicious. The fish grilled over wood fire had crispy skin with an amazing aroma that stood out as a highlight alongside hearty pork miso soup (tonjiru), which we enjoyed multiple servings of! Even during our departure send-off moment—they waved until our car disappeared from sight—leaving us deeply touched by their hospitality until the very end!

    This was our first time using the service. We searched for an accommodation in Hakone with a room featuring an Onsen on IKYU.com. Among many beautiful accommodations, we chose this one as it seemed to match our preferences based on the photos: delicious-looking meals, elegant and modest portions, and a window-view Onsen instead of an open-air one. On the day of arrival, we were worried about reaching by car due to heavy typhoon rain. However, upon arrival, we were greeted warmly with attentive hospitality and stunning interiors that immediately put us at ease. The room was spacious and well-equipped with various types of sofas and chairs for relaxation, a Bluetooth music speaker, and a variety of beverages—everything was perfectly arranged. As for the Onsen experience—a major reason for our stay—the originally anticipated Owakudani hot spring had been replaced due to some issues. Nevertheless, the alternative spring provided soothing waters that we enjoyed multiple times. Additionally, there was a shared bath outside the room where we could fully indulge in the Onsen experience. Regarding meals: dinner was described as French cuisine on the website; thus, we expected rich sauces or buttery dishes but were pleasantly surprised by dishes reminiscent of Japanese Kaiseki cuisine—visually stunning and deeply flavorful creations unlike anything we'd experienced before. For non-alcoholic drinkers like us (my wife drinks only occasionally), having several non-alcoholic wine options greatly enhanced our dining experience. We also appreciated their thoughtful accommodation for small portions and dietary preferences. Breakfast featured quintessential Japanese offerings with highlights such as hearty pork miso soup—it was exceptional! Moreover, being able to dine in loungewear even at dinner added extra comfort. Overall impressions: If I may point out minor aspects—windows in rooms couldn't be opened (likely for security reasons), which felt unusual; providing small pouches to carry keys or personal items during meals might be convenient; adding a mini-library (travel books or materials about Hakone's history/nature/wildlife) or creating relaxation spaces near bathing areas could enhance guest experiences further; lastly—for women’s amenities—a makeup remover would be appreciated. That said—even without these additions—the accommodation is already luxurious beyond words for us! The staff's courteousness stood out—they always engaged warmly in conversations that felt like part of their hospitality charm. We also enjoyed feeding treats to goats during our stay! If given another opportunity someday after saving up funds again—we’d love nothing more than returning here!

    We stayed at the accommodation as a couple during the last weekend of August, amidst the lingering summer heat. Sengokuhara was cooler than the lower areas, with red dragonflies flying around and no worries about mosquitoes. The early morning terrace backed by cypress trees was comfortable, and we enjoyed a view of Akane Fuji. The quiet and polite hospitality left a warm impression on us. The soft sensation of a goat's tongue on our hands was memorable. The staff seemed to understand the personalities of all three goats well, making animal therapy beneficial not only for guests but also for staff members themselves. Dinner paired with wine offered an aromatic experience that enriched our time there. Though new to saunas, we enjoyed the private room setup where steam from löyly created an extraordinary sensation—feeling like a 10-degree increase in heat enveloping us from back to feet after some time—a wonderful experience indeed! The enormous Edra sofa allowed both of us to lie down without touching feet, adding an extraordinary touch of luxury to our stay. Strolling through the wetlands garden surrounded by lush greenery and cool shade, followed by tea time aboard the Orient Express at Lalique Museum, made for unforgettable memories.

    Exceptional hospitality at the highest level

    We stayed at the accommodation after descending Mount Fuji. Since we managed to descend to the 5th station a bit earlier than expected, I called to see if we could check in early, thinking it might not be possible. However, not only was my request fully accommodated, but I also received a kind "Thank you for contacting us." Later, I informed them over the phone that we would arrive between 1:30 PM and 2:00 PM. To my surprise and delight, a staff member was waiting for us at the parking lot entrance during that time. (I wondered how long they had been waiting in such hot weather!) During our stay, we were warmly greeted multiple times and felt completely satisfied. When making our New Year reservation during this visit, they casually expressed their gratitude by saying something like "We just received your notification..." which made me feel appreciated again. What touched me most were the smiles of all the staff members who assisted us. As someone running a business myself, it reminded me of how important it is to provide such memorable experiences for customers. My 7-year-old daughter also learned so much from this stay—especially enjoying and appreciating the course meals provided. We look forward to visiting again during New Year’s! Thank you in advance. Lastly, thank you for waving goodbye until our car was out of sight—it made my daughter very happy!

    Thank you for the two-night stay. I chose this accommodation as a birthday treat for myself because of the good reviews and ratings, and it turned out to be an excellent decision. The comfort of the room, the hospitality of the staff—everything was wonderful, making it a great trip. The meals were delicious; however, by the second night, I found myself craving more standard Japanese dishes, so I gave 4 stars. When I mentioned this upon departure, they kindly offered shuttle service to nearby restaurants that suit my preferences. Next time I plan a multiple night stay, I'll definitely consider that option. The staff's attentiveness truly showed their dedication to doing their best work. I look forward to seeing everyone again when I return! Thank you very much!

    The Best in Accommodation, Dining, and Living

    I finally had the chance to visit "Sengokuhara Kokon," a place I had been curious about for a long time. On the day of my visit, I first stopped by the Pola Museum of Art to see the Van Gogh exhibition, sharpening my sense of beauty before heading over. Starting with the accommodation itself, entering through the gate revealed an awe-inspiring atmosphere that gave me a sense of something extraordinary. When parking my car, I was impressed to find four electric vehicle charging stations available—an exceptional facility considering there are only five rooms available per day. It’s clear that Kokon is forward-thinking and prepared for future trends. Having driven both BEVs and PHEVs for over a year now, I can attest to how once you experience an electric vehicle's benefits, it’s hard to go back to gasoline cars. The foresight shown by Kokon in this regard is remarkable as EVs continue gaining popularity. The room furnished with Italian edra furniture (the same as in their lobby) featured carpeted floors, a spacious living area with large windows offering views of Mt. Fuji, a dining area, bedroom, onsen with sauna facilities, and even a terrace—all absolutely top-notch amenities. The onsen public bath also included herbal baths where I could relax deeply. As for clothing provided during our stay: loungewear sets within the accommodation were perfect along with pajamas and slippers; even room temperature control was flawless. Moving on to dining: dinner consisted of creative French cuisine cooked using firewood—a culinary delight that left both myself and my wife saying it was one of our best meals ever! Breakfast was freshly prepared and served in-room—a wonderful way to start our morning before checking out at 11 AM after enjoying every moment from check-in at 3 PM. Lastly but importantly—the staff's hospitality made everything feel seamless throughout our stay; their attentiveness added greatly toward making this experience unforgettable! We hope next time we can visit during autumn foliage season—and yes—the goats brought us unexpected joy too!
