    Onsen trip for two with a friend.

    I chose Kagetsu Taishokan because I saw it on social media and was curious about it! It was even more wonderful than I expected. The time spent relaxing in the lounge and chatting in the open-air bath has become such precious memories. We promised to come back again for sure! We also took lots of great photos, and now I'm reminiscing about the experience.

    Indulge in a little luxury.

    I was searching for a nice accommodation to stay at and found this one. It turned out to be a great choice! The access is relatively convenient, making it stress-free. The room is spacious, comes with an open-air bath, and is quiet enough for a good night's sleep. Facilities like the lounge and footbath café were better than expected. It became a weekend trip that felt special without being overly luxurious!

    Calm Your Mind

    The unhurried and relaxing time was truly wonderful. The wooden interior retains the charm of the Taisho era, and the tranquility was incredibly soothing. Bringing along a few favorite books and flipping through pages at the footbath café felt like the ultimate luxury. I look forward to visiting again when I have the chance.

    I think this is a well-balanced Ryokan.

    Large onsen ryokans can be too lively, while very small accommodations might feel a bit uneasy. In this context, Kagetsu Taishokan feels "just right." The staff provide necessary support in a discreet manner, and the atmosphere inside is quiet and relaxing. The private open-air bath in the room is a great feature for enjoying without worry. Not feeling "tired" during your trip is truly important.

    Accommodation that cares for its guests

    The number of staff felt overwhelmingly insufficient. Each staff member had to take on multiple roles, leading to noticeable oversights. Individually, the employees seemed to be kind and personable. We stayed as a group of three (1 man and 2 women), but there were numerous issues such as: - Insufficient room amenities - Missing coffee sugar packets - Lack of indoor footwear (geta) - Missing complimentary bottled water These small inconveniences added up, leaving us frequently wondering "Why?" At dinner, there was no menu provided, dishes were served very slowly, tongs for meat were missing, and explanations about the dishes were lacking—all seemingly due to understaffing. During bedtime, mosquitoes made it difficult to sleep peacefully. The building and guest rooms themselves were clean and impressive; however, this only made the shortcomings more disappointing. Please ensure an adequate number of staff members are available relative to the number of guests so that visitors can enjoy a worry-free stay with proper hospitality. Unfortunately, the experience did not match the Accommodation Fee we paid.

    Perfect Reward Accommodation for a Weekend Refresh

    I stayed over the weekend with my wife to unwind from the daily work fatigue. The retro-modern atmosphere provided a very calming space, allowing us to relax from check-in onwards. Spending time leisurely in the open-air bath in our room felt luxurious and soothing. The tranquility within the accommodation was also pleasant, letting us forget about work and enjoy peaceful moments.

    Family Trip

    I chose this accommodation through IKYU.com, thinking it would be suitable for elderly guests. I brought my 78-year-old mother and had written specific requests to the accommodation, but the room we were given was not prioritized. I wanted to minimize walking distances, but the layout made it inconvenient to take off and put on shoes. Despite staying with four people, there were only three cups provided in the room. While I didn’t mind laying out our own futons, there were no sheets or pillow covers available. It’s puzzling how so many mistakes could occur. The staff member who initially guided us to our room spoke in a monotone voice and gave poor explanations; she seemed more focused on holding a lantern for effect rather than proper communication, which was frustrating. However, other staff members appeared very dedicated and busy; their apologies felt sincere. Although cleaning a two-story room must be challenging, there was dust all over areas like above the TV, and no toothbrush cup in the bathroom—so I stopped pointing things out after a while. Additionally, finding forgotten items from previous guests in the pockets of our provided loungewear made me question whether they had been properly washed. The building itself did not have any unpleasant odors or moldy smells; appliances were modern and well-equipped with many positive aspects overall. However, when contacting reception via QR code chat as instructed, I received no response and ultimately had to walk over directly to communicate my needs. At this time, I cannot recommend this accommodation but hope improvements will be made in the future.

    Located right in front of the iconic Romon Gate of Takeo Onsen, the location instantly lifts your spirits upon arrival!! Enjoy a relaxing soak in the open-air bath while chatting leisurely, savor delicious meals and drinks, and spend delightful moments with familiar faces! Highly recommended for those seeking a rejuvenating escape from everyday life!

    The Room was not properly cleaned, and I got bitten by mites.

    The staff service was excellent, but the coffee glasses were not cleaned after previous use, and all three family members were bitten by mites.

    Unfortunately.

    The accommodation plays music similar to ANA, which was surprising. The check-in area is cold, and a casually dressed staff member handled the process while using a personal phone, showing little knowledge of local tourist information. The room slippers are thin, cups are paper cups, there is no towel rack for bath towels or in the washroom. Yukata or room wear does not come with socks or tabi, and there are no hangers for pants. Overall, it was a disappointing accommodation.

    I was able to enjoy a luxurious space.

    Everywhere you look, there is a retro yet elegant space. I stayed in a room with an open-air bath and was able to relax while enjoying the Onsen. There are many spots to enjoy, such as drinking coffee while viewing the Japanese garden at the footbath cafe. The staff's service was courteous yet maintained a comfortable distance, making it a pleasant stay.

    A luxurious moment to enjoy the fusion of Taisho Romanticism and Japanese style.

    It was a wonderful property where the charm of Taisho romance and modern comfort were beautifully integrated. Retro decorations and antiques are displayed throughout the property, giving you the feeling of having slipped back in time to the Taisho era. The corridors with nightingale floors and the rooms that exude Japanese beauty were particularly comfortable, and the time spent in the spacious open-air bath became an unforgettable memory. The meals were all made with fresh local ingredients, and the seasonal fish dishes were especially delicious. The staff's courteous service was also excellent, making it a satisfying stay in every aspect. This ryokan is highly recommended for those who love the Taisho era and want to enjoy a historical atmosphere.
