A special day marking a milestone for the couple
We chose this Accommodation for our wedding anniversary, hoping for somewhere a little special this year. My husband and I are usually busy with our own schedules, and we’re often surprised by how little time we have to talk at home, but that day we ended up reminiscing about old memories the whole time (laugh). The staff were considerate and didn’t speak to us more than necessary, which made us feel they truly valued our time together. In the morning, we woke up early for a short walk and then returned to the Accommodation, and it was nice to head to breakfast without rushing. It became a wonderful anniversary memory.

It was a memorable one-night stay.
Even arriving in the evening, just having tea while looking out the window made me feel refreshed and away from my usual routine. The meals were beautifully presented, so I couldn’t help taking photos before enjoying them. The Room lighting was a bit subdued, so it felt slightly dim only when getting ready, but otherwise I stayed very comfortably.

Historic Ryokan tour; the Room is new, spacious, and relaxing.
The historic Ryokan has a rich history, and I was deeply moved to be able to tour rare items that are hard to see these days. The meals were carefully prepared and delicious. I thought it would be nice if there were a menu for breakfast as well. The Room was new and had both a first and second floor, making it feel just like staying in a private house.

We stayed here as a couple.
This charming Ryokan has a strong sense of history, and from the moment we arrived we felt transported into a special, non-everyday atmosphere. The interior was calm and serene, and we enjoyed the unique character of this historic building. The Room was kept very clean and offered a relaxing space to unwind. While taking in the view from the window, we were able to enjoy some quiet time together as a couple—something that’s hard to find in everyday life. Even simply strolling around the property was delightful, and I especially recommend it for anyone who loves history. All staff were courteous, and we had a comfortable stay from check-in to check-out. They respected our privacy without being intrusive, yet were kind and helpful whenever we needed anything, which made us feel truly at ease. It was a wonderful Ryokan in a peaceful setting where we could forget the busyness of daily life and feel refreshed. My husband also said he’d like to come again, and we would love to return if we have the chance. Highly recommended for couples’ trips or anniversary stays.

Create special family moments in a historic building
We stayed here for a family trip with grandparents, parents, and children. Even with a wide range of ages, everyone was able to relax comfortably. The interior, making the most of Taisho-era architecture, felt special just walking through it. Our grandparents enjoyed the nostalgic atmosphere, and our daughter said it felt like a castle. We also enjoyed dinner at a leisurely pace while chatting as a family. Overall, it was a very satisfying stay.

I decided to treat myself to a solo stay when work fatigue had built up. The building’s atmosphere was even better in person than in the photos. Spending time reading at the footbath café was better than I expected. The open-air bath in the guest room is so spacious that it feels almost too big for one person. The steam sauna warmed me through to the core. It was quiet throughout the Accommodation, and the evenings were simply peaceful. It felt like a rare Accommodation where Taisho-era architecture and modern facilities coexist beautifully. I’d love to return.

It was a distinctive Ryokan unlike many others.
This Ryokan features a pool, bar, and sauna. The bar’s Moscow Mule is exceptionally delicious and highly recommended, made with freshly picked herbs. They also make their own ginger ale, with an unforgettable flavor that makes you wonder what you’d been drinking before—it was that good. The food was excellent as well, and it’s an Accommodation I’d love to stay at again. The Room was also great.

Golden Week
In a word, it was terrible. Even though I stated at the time of the Reservation that we had small children, both dinner and breakfast were the same menu as for adults, so my child couldn’t eat anything—and the price was also the same as an adult’s. Although the website said swimsuit rentals were available, we could not rent swimsuits. Because of that, we hadn’t brought any swimsuits and couldn’t use the pool or sauna (the sauna is a shared space, so we planned to use it with rented swimwear). During meals, I noticed rice hadn’t been provided; even after asking staff about three times to bring rice, it never arrived. When I spoke to them directly, they said the order hadn’t come through. Also speaking personally, the food was not worth this price. And what made it worse: while we were at dinner they laid out futons in our Room, but when we returned from dinner our Room door had been left unlocked. We had left valuables on the table, so this made us extremely anxious. This is the first Ryokan I’ve experienced with such poor security, facilities/equipment management, and sense of responsibility. From here this is also personal: at the front desk we were told “the pool water is very clean,” but there were dead creatures/insects(?), fallen leaves, and lots of dirt in it. Since we didn’t have swimsuits we couldn’t enter anyway—but even if we had them, it looked unpleasant enough that I wouldn’t have wanted to go in. As for the Onsen quality as well: you should definitely use a nearby Onsen instead. As other Reviews mention, in-Room Onsen water stopped and couldn’t be used; and in the guest Onsen there were fallen leaves and some dead insects. The Onsen quality wasn’t good either. There are many 5-star ratings in other Reviews, but I think most of them are fake/shill reviews. I’ve never written a Review before, but it was truly such an awful experience that I felt compelled to write this one.

The poor service really stands out.
We stayed during a long holiday period. It matched the rating. This Accommodation is a renovated former Ryokan. While the building retains a sense of history, the Room has a modern, comfortable layout, making it a relaxing space to unwind. If I had to point out drawbacks, the open-air bath is not free-flowing; guests have to fill it themselves, and it stops automatically once it reaches a certain level, so you have to refill it repeatedly, which is inconvenient. It was also inconvenient that the only washbasin was on the second floor. The food was delicious, and it was nice to see care put into the tableware as well. However, as the title suggests, poor service stood out. The entrance path was stone-paved, so we were lifting and carrying our suitcases, but staff were waiting at the doorway kneeling formally and did not offer to help with our luggage. I assumed that might be this Ryokan’s traditional style. After that as well: there were no hand towels at dinner; even after asking and being told “I’ll bring them right away,” nothing came until we asked a third person. We requested hot tea before the meal but it never arrived; there were no in-room amenities in the first place; and so on. Honestly, the service did not match the price. During dinner a staff member apologized while saying something like “everyone arrived at once...” Even if it gets busy during holidays, that is not an excuse. Because there are many strong points in terms of facilities and atmosphere, this was very disappointing.

Safe and comfortable for women traveling together
The maisonette Room felt more spacious than it looked on the website. The amenities were high quality, which I really appreciated. My hair didn’t feel dry or tangled! I was happy that the guest Room had an open-air bath, so I could use it whenever I wanted. Dinner was beautifully presented and made for great conversation. We had a wonderful time!

Use for an anniversary trip
This Accommodation is perfect for spending a special day in peace. The maisonette-style room felt refreshingly different. My wife chose this Accommodation, and I ended up loving it too. The amenities were high quality, with nothing lacking. Soaking in the open-air bath in the room while watching the lights made it a truly special time. The food was also excellent and delicious.

As a couple who stays 300 nights a year, this was one of the three most disappointing Ryokan stays in Japan.
Even though I made a Reservation through IKYU, the Ryokan’s system forced me to go through a tedious pre-check-in process. I had to re-enter my name and address. On the day of arrival, I thought I might have plans in the early evening, so I called the Ryokan to ask until what time dinner could be served. The call went to the head office instead. The person there said no one knew. They couldn’t even answer such a basic question. I asked again for a phone number that would reach the Ryokan directly and called it—only to be connected to the head office again. When I asked why, they said calls to the Ryokan are automatically forwarded. If that’s the case, they should have told me on the first call that calling the Ryokan number was pointless. Instead, they casually gave me a number and wasted my time. The first and second calls were actually to the same number, but because I tapped-to-call from IKYU’s site, I didn’t recognize it—and never expected they would read out exactly the same number I was already calling. On the second call as well, they still said they didn’t know how late dinner could be served. It was going nowhere, so I asked them to call me back. Nearly an hour passed with no return call, so I called a third time—again reaching head office. This time they said dinner was available until 7:00 PM. Later on, someone from the Ryokan finally called and said dinner could be served until 8:30 PM. So what was that initial answer from head office? On our way there, Google Maps and iPhone Maps took us to a completely different location than where this Ryokan actually is. For a property in this price range, they should verify this and request corrections on listing sites. It also wasn’t registered in my car navigation system at all. We managed to arrive somehow, but the parking lot surface was full of potholes. The Room itself was clean, but having it as a maisonette layout was extremely inconvenient. The amenities were “budget-looking” Bulgari items lined up together. At a regional Ryokan like this, I’m not interested in overseas brands at this point—I’d much rather see good local products—but their choices showed no taste. Every dish felt like pre-made food; temperature, texture, and presentation were all poor. The sashimi, grilled fish, and vegetables were dried out or tough or overly cold—just awful. This felt like food you’d get at a 20–30k yen class Ryokan. The service staff also seemed part-time level. When serving our meal introductions for some reason they explained everything only after serving my wife first—and then brought mine afterward—an extremely rude approach. Even at checkout they fumbled over collecting just a few hundred yen in payment. Both management and staff felt amateurish overall. I will never go again.

Stayed at the accommodation during the cold season to relax without much sightseeing.
Highlights of this accommodation: - Private open-air baths in guest rooms, so no need to go outside - Quiet atmosphere with minimal presence of people inside the facility - The ambiance of the Taisho building becomes even more charming at night - Comfortable lounge area - Delicious dinner and breakfast This accommodation seems especially appealing during colder seasons.

Ideal Accommodation
I stayed here for my first solo trip. The accommodation was quite peaceful, possibly because there were fewer tourists. The view from the open-air bath was pleasant, and I enjoyed reading, soaking in the bath multiple times, and spending time freely without worrying about the clock. Although I was a bit nervous about traveling alone, I’m glad I chose this place.

The open-air bath is amazing!
I was a bit worried that the outdoor hot spring might feel too cold in winter, but the water temperature was perfect and very relaxing! I also appreciated that the indoor heating wasn't overly strong. Sometimes places can be too hot and give me a headache. Spending time in the lounge with a warm drink was also memorable!

The bath was absolutely fantastic!
The open-air bath was amazing! The Onsen water was gentle and made my skin smooth! The atmosphere was completely different between night and morning, and both were delightful! I also used the steam sauna! The sense of release after sweating was incredible! If you're choosing based on Onsen, I highly recommend this place!

We experienced an extraordinary stay.
I usually prefer hotels, but I thought staying at a ryokan might be nice for a change, so I made a reservation! The interior was incredibly quiet, and you could hardly hear any noise from outside. At night, I soaked in the open-air bath while admiring the beautifully lit garden and realized over an hour had passed... haha. The overall design of the building was sophisticated and exuded a luxurious atmosphere! It was perfect for seeking relaxation!!

From check-in, the staff's demeanor was very polite, and their soft-spoken manner made my stay comfortable without any tension. The Room was impeccably clean, and even the way the towels were folded was beautiful. It's delightful to feel such attention to detail and hospitality in these small touches. Recently, I've been busy with work and wanted to take time to enjoy reading a book at leisure. I barely watched TV and indulged in the luxury of simply reading. It felt like my mind was cleared.

For birthday celebrations
We stayed as a family of four. The room was a spacious maisonette, allowing even the grandparents to relax comfortably. We had requested a birthday cake for dinner, and it was brought out at the perfect timing, which deeply impressed us. The staff's courteous service made everyone in our family smile. With its calm atmosphere, we are truly glad we chose this accommodation.

Enjoy a luxurious and relaxing time for adults.
The atmosphere felt sophisticated, and enjoying a coffee while reading a book felt truly luxurious. I also indulged in the Onsen and steam sauna, making it a refreshing experience even during a short stay. Although I don't usually stay at Ryokans, this place offered the ease of a Hotel while still maintaining a traditional Japanese ambiance, which was wonderful.

Used for a girls' trip.
Stayed with a friend. The maisonette room was spacious, almost too large for just the two of us... In the evening, we enjoyed chatting on the terrace while admiring the garden or had a light toast at the tea bar inside. It was a delightful time. The bath could be used at our preferred timing, so we could relax without any worries. The atmosphere was calm and perfect for an adult girls' trip—this kind of getaway felt really nice for a change.

Recommended for those who prefer a relaxing stay
Takeo Onsen is known for its many tourist attractions, but this time I spent most of my time at the accommodation without going out much. The room's open-air bath was a natural hot spring with free-flowing water, and I enjoyed it twice, at night and in the morning. Since I wanted to relax on this trip, choosing this accommodation was truly the right decision.

I stayed without checking reviews and was disappointed early on, so I decided to look at the low-rated reviews afterward. Almost all of the issues mentioned matched my own experience. However, since I made the decision to complete the reservation and stay myself, I do not wish to criticize harshly. In short, typically a Ryokan has an Okami or a Hotel has a manager who takes responsibility for all services, but this accommodation lacked such a presence, which seemed to be the root of the problem. Depending on how the operating company approaches this in the future, it has potential to become a great Ryokan. I appreciated the sincere attitude of the young male and female staff who provided service and hope that this facility transforms into something better in time.

Relive your cherished memories.
The moment I checked in, I thought, "I'm so glad I came." The quietness of the Room, the scent of wood, and the attentive service... everything was perfect. It had been a while since my husband and I traveled together, so I was a bit nervous about whether we could truly enjoy it. However, casual conversations naturally flowed, and we had a wonderful time. I'm glad we chose this Ryokan that evokes a sense of nostalgia.

Healing Accommodation
I chose this accommodation after seeing it online, and the building was just as beautiful as in the photos. After walking around all day for sightseeing, I was very tired, but the foot bath was incredibly relaxing. The private open-air bath in the room was great because I could enjoy it without worrying about other guests. It wasn't overly luxurious, but it was a stay that warmed me to my core. I highly recommend this accommodation for those looking to clear their mind and body during their journey.

Traveling with Your Mother
I chose this place because I prefer a quiet and charming location over a bustling tourist spot. My mother was delighted with the atmosphere of the traditional interior. Soaking in the nostalgic open-air bath and enjoying a leisurely meal created a relaxing time filled with lively conversations. I thought it was the perfect place for showing appreciation to my parent.

The warmth was welcoming without being overbearing, making the stay very comfortable. Sometimes you encounter overly assertive staff, but that wasn’t the case here. At the same time, we weren’t left unattended either—it was just the right level of service.

Impeccable Accommodation
The maisonette with a private open-air bath offers excellent facilities, but the service does not match the price. 1. No one at the front desk upon arrival 2. Family bath water not fully filled, only about 10 cm—unclear what to do 3. Room bath needs to be filled by yourself 4. Booked for 4 people but only 2 beds (even though bedding was requested for children), resulting in two people sharing a bed uncomfortably 5. No cups for brushing teeth 6. No soap or face towels provided in the washroom for washing hands or face 7. Footbath café and bar were closed 8. Many items on the drink menu unavailable 9. One small dish missing during meals for one person 10. Tea or water not served promptly after being seated during meals 11. Air conditioning in the room was off upon arrival, making it unbearably hot inside 12. Despite having a pool, no towel racks in rooms; wet swimsuits and towels had to be hung on chairs or tables 13. Complimentary beer provided in-room but no glasses available 14. Main building entrance cluttered with shoes left haphazardly during meal times 15. Private dining room doors could not close properly and remained open 16. Guests lined up in hallways waiting for meal guidance 17. Grills shared between two guests per table at dinner 18: During reservation confirmation calls, staff did not introduce themselves first 19: Outdoor private bath had fallen leaves and spider webs; required self-cleaning before use 20: Meal times pre-specified but no guidance provided upon check-in 21: Check-out time stated as 10 AM verbally but reservation email indicated 11 AM 22: Skincare products and shampoo/conditioner amenities limited to one set despite booking for four people 23: Staff seemed inexperienced overall While the facility itself is beautiful, it fails to deliver an experience worthy of its cost—a disappointment when expecting luxury accommodations akin to staying at a historic site. The staff appeared earnest but lacked proper training and organization, highlighting how essential professionalism is in hospitality services.
