    I was truly delighte...

    I was truly delighted to stay at this Accommodation I had long admired. We were blessed with clear weather and were able to fully enjoy the scenery of Amakusa. The sweets served with the welcome drink were delicious, and when I asked if they were available for purchase, I was told they were original. Thank you very much for kindly giving some as a gift for my daughter at check-out. This trip also celebrated my daughter’s promotion, so it became a wonderful memory for us.

    Relaxing stay

    This is the Accommodation to choose for an Amakusa trip. I had seen it in a magazine before and had added it to my list of places I wanted to visit. It was a very satisfying stay. I was able to relax, enjoy the view, soak in the bath, and savor delicious meals. Since our Room was at the very end, we could see the area below (the road and maybe beach huts?), which was a bit disappointing. If we had stayed in a middle Room, we probably could have enjoyed only the beautiful scenery... I was surprised that breakfast rice was multigrain. I like multigrain rice, but some guests may not be able to eat it. Many Accommodations seem to let guests choose white rice, multigrain rice, or porridge the day before, so I think having options would be better. The yukata was a style that doesn’t come undone easily, and I really liked how cute the obi belt was as well. It’s a great Accommodation for relieving everyday fatigue. This time I couldn’t do a Multiple Night Stay due to our schedule and stayed multiple nights at another Accommodation instead, but next time I’d definitely like to stay multiple nights here.

    First Time in Amakusa

    The staff’s hospitality was wonderful, and both the views and the Facility were excellent. The meals had gentle flavors and just the right portions, allowing us to enjoy a variety of tastes. It was a very relaxing stay.

    I’d love to stay here again.

    On my first birthday trip to Amakusa, I stayed here after seeing it featured by a YouTuber I like. Even though it was a Sunday during Lunar New Year, the Hotel was quiet and had a luxurious atmosphere, and both the Room and the bath were excellent. Above all, the meals exceeded my expectations—I could really feel the chef’s attention to detail. In Tokyo, this level of quality would be much more expensive, so it felt very reasonably priced and I had a wonderful time. Next time, I’d love to stay again in an upgraded Room.

    We stayed as a family of four. The children also enjoyed the adult atmosphere. The interior was wonderful, and we were able to spend a comfortable, out-of-the-ordinary time. Next time, I’d like to come with my sisters.

    The meals were disappointing.

    A few days ago, I stayed at Hotel Ryugu. With this stay, I completed visiting all the accommodations in this group, ending with Amanosabi, and I was very much looking forward to it. From the welcome drink to the hospitality, service, facilities, and amenities—everything was comfortable and pleasant. Although the scent of the hot spring water bothered me a little, the semi-open-air bath offered a stunning view that made me lose track of time. However, it was disappointing when it came to the meals. The presentation and ingredients were splendid and elegant; however, the taste did not suit our palate. It was hard to describe—perhaps too mild? Since we had high expectations for it, we felt very let down. If there were a plan without meals available, I would consider staying again.

    Thank you for allowing us to stay at your accommodation with our family. This was the second time for my husband and me, and since we had such a wonderful experience last time, we decided to visit again with our family. The stunning views, the comfort of the room, and the warm hospitality of your staff were just as excellent as before. We truly had a pleasant and relaxing time, for which we are deeply grateful. If I may share one point in hopes of further improvement: Both dinner and breakfast dishes were served slightly cold, and overall there were few dishes that left a strong impression on us. This felt like a missed opportunity considering how exceptional everything else was at your accommodation. Because everything else is so outstanding, I believe that serving meals in an even better condition would make the stay even more satisfying. We look forward to visiting again in the future and are excited about seeing further improvements!

    The quality of meals has declined.

    This is one of my favorite accommodations, and I’ve stayed here for three consecutive years. However, once again this year, I was treated as if it were my first stay (laughs). Since the same thing happened last year, I think it would be better to check whether a guest is new or a repeat visitor. After staying last year, I heard that the head chef had changed... I had mixed feelings of anticipation and concern. Unfortunately, it turned out to be disappointing. Under the previous head chef, breakfast wasn’t great but dinner was delicious. This time though, from the appetizer onwards, everything was heavy and overly seasoned without any palate cleansers in between—just one rich dish after another. It might suit those who enjoy hearty meals, but we found it overwhelming. While they use high-quality ingredients, I feel there’s a lack of culinary finesse. It seems like they’re overcomplicating things and ending up with unappetizing dishes—that’s the impression I got. The main steak was dripping with blood that soaked into other vegetables on the plate as well—it didn’t look appetizing at all. Breakfast has also changed to only Japanese-style options; no more Western choices available. The location and room remain as excellent as ever, which makes this all the more disappointing. I sincerely hope for an improvement in their cuisine moving forward.

    I was completely satisfied with everything.

    It was an excellent hotel. Traveling with my child, we chose the Junior Suite because of the adjustable bathroom window, even though we didn’t use the sauna. It was a great decision. We enjoyed adjusting the window—fully open or slightly ajar—which added a unique and fun experience. The terrace was spacious, and since the weather was nice, we relaxed while enjoying drinks from the fridge and admiring the Amakusa sea view. We could also see Mount Unzen’s Fugendake, making our time there feel truly luxurious. We had informed them in advance about not drinking alcohol or eating meat, and they were very accommodating for which we are grateful. Everyone at the hotel was kind and had wonderful smiles. The shuttle service to nearby commercial facilities was very convenient, allowing us to fully enjoy our first visit to Amakusa. Thank you so much!

    Cuisine Further Enhanced!

    This was my third stay at Amanojaku. Although I heard the head chef had changed, the quality of the cuisine has improved and overall it was a satisfying experience. In particular, the grilled spiny lobster as a main dish, replacing wagyu beef, was cooked to perfection. However, as someone who prefers coffee and bread in the morning, it's disappointing that Western-style breakfast will no longer be available starting in November.

    The Best Accommodation

    I happened to see it on TV and felt an irresistible urge to stay, so I traveled from the Kanto region for the purpose of staying at this accommodation. Luckily, the weather was great both on the day I arrived and the following day. The beauty of Matsushima's islands bathed in sunset and sunrise, as seen from my room and dining area, was absolutely stunning. Just gazing at this scenery made me feel that coming all the way to Shimabara was worth it. During my stay, I felt that everything—the view, room, bath, food, and staff—offered exceptional hospitality. The only slight downside was related to breakfast: there were crispy rice bits in the pot-cooked rice and there was too much food for me to finish. While some people may enjoy crispy rice bits depending on their preference, I personally am not a fan of hard ones. Although this minor detail lowered my score slightly, everything else was so perfect that it stood out more than usual. It truly is an amazing accommodation!

    You'll want to visit again.

    I stayed here for my wife's birthday. The weather was great, and the view from the Room was breathtaking. The bath had a window that could be opened or closed, which was a thoughtful touch to keep warm if needed. Both the dinner and breakfast were absolutely satisfying, and the birthday plate exceeded expectations in quality. There were only two disappointing points: First, while you can grind coffee beans with a mixer to enjoy fresh coffee, the beans had a strong sour taste that might not suit everyone (I personally didn't like it). A more standard option would have been better. Second, there was some noise coming from either the air conditioning or ventilation system located in the closet area, which disturbed my sleep despite the otherwise peaceful atmosphere of the Room. Other than these points, I was truly satisfied with everything else. Thank you very much!

    It was a highly satisfying stay.

    Consistently ranked among the top accommodations in Kyushu, this hotel offers beautiful Japanese-modern rooms with private open-air baths and terraces, which led us to make a reservation. The room was as wonderful as expected, featuring two sets of bathrobes, bath towels, and towels per person. The towel bar for drying made it convenient to enjoy the private bath multiple times. The drinks in the room's refrigerator were all complimentary, including beer, which delighted my husband. We also appreciated the orange juice and oolong tea. Snacks were also provided free of charge, making our stay truly indulgent. While the price is on the higher side, it allowed for a luxurious experience with excellent amenities that exceeded expectations. The meals featured high-quality and fresh ingredients that were all delicious. We especially enjoyed being able to have unlimited refills of sushi. Breakfast was equally luxurious with both Japanese and Western options that left us fully satisfied. The unlimited juice and bread offerings were a nice touch. Although we weren't blessed with good weather during our stay, the view from our room was still stunning. This accommodation provided an exceptional luxury experience that left us completely satisfied. We look forward to staying here again!

    We were delighted to...

    We were delighted to witness the sunset upon our arrival. The Room's bath was impressive, and the counter dining was filled with delicious dishes. Although we didn’t request it, photos were kindly taken for us. On departure, there was some confusion when speaking to a staff member, but another staff quickly stepped in and assisted us. Thank you very much!

    Anniversary Trip

    We were able to visit again this year at the same time as last year, and the weather was perfect. When we had the meal, it felt a bit different from last year, and upon asking, we learned that the head chef had changed. The warm dishes, cold dishes, visually delightful tableware and cuisine were all thoroughly enjoyable. Thank you for your thoughtful gesture with the anniversary plate. We enjoyed the scenery, food, and baths. Thank you to all the staff for taking care of us. We’ll be back again next year!

    Spectacular Views

    Honestly, in terms of cost performance, both the meals and the Room are about what you would expect, but the stunning view is truly exceptional. The scenery from the Room, the fully open bath, and even from the dining counter was absolutely beautiful. Regarding the Room, I wished for a double sink in the washroom and blinds to block sunlight coming from behind as it made my face appear dark in the mirror. I appreciated having Molton Brown amenities. I tried wearing a stylish yukata provided but found it thick, heavy, and difficult to wear; perhaps a samue would be more comfortable. The pajamas were easy to wear. As for meals, ending with sushi was an excellent idea!

    It was a very satisfying accommodation!!

    We indulged ourselves with a stay at this slightly luxurious accommodation as an excuse to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. We had always wanted to visit this accommodation someday, so we decided to go all out. The room was more spacious than we expected, and the interior was stunning. The combination of various colors and materials for the walls, floors, and doors beautifully expressed a sense of harmony, and every piece of furniture and decor was exquisite. I experienced an extraordinary atmosphere that perfectly matched my taste. The meals and local sake were delicious, making it a wonderful memory for us. The only small disappointment was that there wasn’t any squid in the sushi selection—just a minor detail! (laughs) We would be delighted to visit again!

    A highly ranked accommodation consistently featured in review rankings. If you're going, why not stay in the best room? We chose a room with a private sauna. The check-in process and guidance to the room were smooth. The welcome drink was stylish and very delicious. The room was clean and provided an extraordinary experience. Having a towel warmer in the room was a pleasant surprise. The sauna temperature was properly high, which we enjoyed thoroughly as our previous experience at another accommodation had left us unsatisfied due to low temperatures. The cold bath required filling it yourself, but since the water temperature was around room temperature, having ice prepared for sauna use would have enhanced the experience further. Meals were overall delicious with satisfying portions that left us content. However, there was one disappointing issue that could be improved to make this accommodation even better: When we went to bed and pulled back the duvet, all of the sheets came off as well. Upon checking, it seemed like there had been an imbalance when fitting them initially. We tried fixing it ourselves but realized it would require significant effort, so we called reception instead. We informed them by saying something along these lines: "It's late now; you don't need to come over immediately, but one of our beds is unusable at present." The male staff member simply replied with "Understood." We assumed this information would be shared among all staff members; however, during breakfast and checkout time the next day, no acknowledgment or follow-up occurred—it felt as though nothing had happened at all. Considering that this suite cost approximately 150,000 yen per night for one stay—making one bed unusable alone disappointing—the lack of communication or apology made matters worse. It seems likely their basic services are standardized through manuals; however handling unexpected issues appears inadequate here compared against expectations from accommodations/hotels charging similar rates (around 150k yen). Typically such establishments respond promptly despite late hours—or minimally offer apologies/solutions first thing next morning while showing empathy towards guests' concerns! Given how great scenery dining & standard services otherwise were—it’s unfortunate leaving feeling let down under circumstances described above especially knowing media attention surrounds said property already! Hoping future improvements address flexibility responsiveness during unforeseen situations ensuring elevated guest satisfaction levels moving forward!

    I used it for her birthday.

    Everything exceeded our expectations. The view from the Room was breathtaking, and I lost count of how many photos I took. At night, we could relax on the balcony and enjoy the beautiful starry sky. I had mentioned in advance that I am not a fan of seafood, and they kindly accommodated my request with delicious alternatives. We also requested balloon decorations, which were arranged with excellent taste—my girlfriend was absolutely delighted. The birthday plate they prepared made me feel like I was part of the surprise as well. This is undoubtedly the No. 1 Ryokan in Amakusa, or even Kyushu! We will definitely visit again!

    Wonderful Accommodation

    Although the sunset was not visible due to cloudy weather, the interplay of light between the clouds and sea during dusk, along with the dramatic shadows of Amakusa's islands, was truly breathtaking and moving. The Hotel's Facility, designed to complement this scenery, was thoughtfully arranged and exuded a sense of artfulness throughout. Seeing books about various sake breweries in Kumamoto in the Room raised my expectations for sampling local Kumamoto sake during dinner. However, compared to the wine collection, there were slightly fewer options for sake, which was my only small regret. Looking forward to next time!

    Stunning views, relaxing baths, and delicious meals

    I stayed with my husband to create memories before taking a break from traveling due to my pregnancy. The staff's thoughtfulness touched me, as they provided extra soft drinks in the room's drink service, considering I couldn't consume alcohol. The view from the room was stunning. Both the sunset and sunrise offered breathtaking scenery that we thoroughly enjoyed. For meals, I highly recommend the counter seats. Dining while watching the sunset was an unforgettable experience. The room's facilities were perfect, including an automatic window system for the bathroom, making it a very comfortable space. Everything was impeccably clean, allowing us to relax completely. One of the most impressive features in the room was a set of coffee beans, a grinder, and drip coffee equipment that allowed us to enjoy freshly brewed coffee anytime we wanted—a unique service I've never seen at other accommodations! Meals were also exceptional with dinners and breakfasts featuring plenty of local Amakusa ingredients—truly satisfying! For breakfast, I chose Western-style dishes; bread with homemade mango jam was delicious! The fresh salad, soup, egg dishes, and main course were all delightful as well. It seemed many other guests opted for Japanese-style breakfasts instead. With Amakusa’s incredible scenery as a backdrop, this accommodation left such a lasting impression that I hope to return after settling into life post-childbirth!

Here are some highlights of our experience: 1. The view from the Room was simply breathtaking. The serene sea during both evening and morning calm spread out like a panorama, and we found ourselves gazing at it in awe. 2. We had dinner at the counter while enjoying the stunning view of the evening calm. The intricate and delicious dishes featuring ingredients from both sea and mountains left us completely satisfied. 3. The hospitality of all service staff was outstanding, exceeding our expectations with their warm and attentive care. For instance, when we asked questions about the dishes or tableware during dinner, they provided detailed explanations with great courtesy. Additionally, they later provided materials such as maps or brochures with information on where to purchase those items. We would love to visit again in a different season.     It was a wonderful anniversary.

    Despite concerns about road closures due to the recent heavy rain, we arrived safely while observing the traces of damage from ongoing construction. Although we encountered severe rain likely caused by a typhoon, it stopped as if by magic before our arrival. The Room was perfect for four of us, including my parents, to relax together. Upon arrival, we immediately enjoyed a refreshing bath and toasted in the Room with welcome drinks and some alcohol. Dinner was leisurely enjoyed with drinks while watching the sunset over the ocean, leaving us completely satisfied. We even had a commemorative dessert photo taken at the end, which became a wonderful keepsake. My parents were also very pleased. The exceptional hospitality from everyone was truly heartwarming and soothing with such thoughtful care. Thank you so much for everything!
