    The following plan

I hardly know where to start—this was simply a wonderful stay. From the front desk to the Room, everything was spotless and fully barrier-free. The hallways and the Room floors are completely level, which felt a little unusual at first, but even the corridors and stairs are covered with tatami mats, so there’s no worry about tripping. The open-air bath in the Room is not free-flowing, so you fill it yourself; topping it up as it cools actually made it easy to adjust the temperature. The after-bath ice cream service was also appreciated—you can choose from options like candy-style bars or monaka. There was plenty of delicious food, and in particular the bamboo-wrapped steamed Yashio trout and the chicken meatballs in the dobin-mushi were outstanding. When I went into the open-air bath around midnight, I saw a single firefly! As someone raised in a city, I was thrilled—and it stayed on the terrace until morning. The large public bath area had everything: regular Onsen baths, a medicinal bath, an outdoor rock bath, plus hot-stone spa and a sauna—truly well equipped. Of course, every staff member greeted us with smiles and thoughtful attention throughout our stay. On our drive home, my husband and I were already talking about planning our next visit! Thank you for helping make this such a great trip.

From the moment we got on the slope car, it already felt like a special escape from everyday life. The staff’s hospitality was outstanding, and we truly enjoyed our stay. The food was delicious, and we were able to fully enjoy the private open-air bath. We would definitely love to stay again on a special occasion.

The room was comfortable. The Onsen offered a variety of baths, which we really enjoyed.

Both dinner and breakfast offered a wide variety of dishes, and everything was delicious. It was great to be able to grill the dried fish for breakfast right in front of us and enjoy it fresh.

    Dinner

I stayed here twice last year and was very satisfied because the dinner was delicious. However, this time the sukiyaki was terrible—perhaps the sauce concentration was wrong, as it was extremely salty, so much so that I had to dilute it with tea to eat it. Even when I told the server that it was too salty, there was no response. I’m planning an Onsen trip in September, but I’m unsure whether to choose Rengetsu.

I will never stay here again.

I made a Reservation in January for a trip to celebrate our 37th wedding anniversary. My wife cannot eat certain ingredients, so I submitted a request in advance. About one week before our stay, we were contacted to Check Reservation, and only then were we told that ingredient changes were not possible. It makes no sense to say that just one week before, even though we made the request when we booked six months earlier. I felt sorry for my wife. At the very least, why not offer a choice of main dish? On the day of our stay, when we arrived at the front of the Accommodation, we were told that the area was reserved for guests with disabilities and special rooms only, and we were made to park far away. Frankly, it was infuriating. It felt like they were looking down on regular guests. If they had simply explained properly that it was for guests with disabilities—even if it was just to make us feel better—I could have accepted it. Our dining table at both dinner and breakfast was not by the window, so we could not enjoy any view. At breakfast, when I asked for another serving of rice, it was piled on so heavily that the grains were crushed. I finished it because I didn’t want to waste food, but it wasn’t good. There was no sense of putting guests first at all. This was the worst Accommodation imaginable. I will never make a Reservation here again—and rather than recommending it to friends, I will tell them not to go.

Reservation on behalf of my aunt

This Accommodation was perfect for bringing guests, and everyone was delighted—we were truly grateful. They especially liked that each dish was served one by one and that the younger staff provided the service. They said there is no other Accommodation as good as this.\nWe look forward to staying with you again.

    Trip with My Mother

It was an easy one-hour trip from Tokyo to Nasu-Shiobara on a weekend in May. Since we had reserved the Shuttle Service from Nasu-Shiobara in advance, the ride took about 40 minutes. The driver was a great conversationalist, and we arrived at the Accommodation in no time while sightseeing along the way. From there we transferred by slope car, and were able to board without waiting. As it’s only in its fourth year since opening, everything is clean and barrier-free, and you can move around inside without slippers. The Room also lets you enjoy an open-air bath at the touch of a button, and it’s such a comfortable space that we had nothing to complain about. Dining was also excellent—Kyoritsu Resort’s signature selectable à la carte dish, flavors that never get boring, seasonal local ingredients you can truly enjoy there and then—overall a menu that felt like more than worth the price. There are three private baths as well as a large public bath, with around six washing stations; it never felt crowded and we could relax. The ice pops in the post-bath lounge were a nice touch! In the morning there was milk and Yakult as well. Since Nasu is known for its farms and dairy products, this was a very welcome service. The building is very quiet, with a calm atmosphere and great comfort—we were so satisfied that we even made another Reservation for next year that same night (laugh). It’s a Hotel up in the mountains where reception is limited (only the Accommodation Wi-Fi works), but that actually adds to its appeal—an Accommodation I’d happily recommend.

It felt like being in the forest, and I was able to feel refreshed.

Surrounded by forest, the Room had many large windows, and it felt as relaxing as forest bathing. It was only a one-night stay, but I was able to unwind. All the staff were young, efficient, and courteous, which made my stay very pleasant. The white rice at breakfast was a bit cold and the surface had hardened; since it’s something I really like, that was disappointing. However, the food was delicious.

Dining options are limited both within the Facility and in the surrounding area.

I made a Reservation for 2 nights/3 days during Golden Week with No Meals Included. Additional meal reservations were not available, and since there is no café or room service in the Facility, I planned to get food nearby. However, the supermarket, convenience store, and restaurants are all far away. At the roadside station, prepared foods sold out quickly. In addition, travel between the parking lot and the Facility is limited to a dedicated slope car only, so I couldn’t go out whenever I wanted. Instead of enjoying my vacation, I ended up having to endure hunger at times. For guests who Reserve with No Meals Included, it may be helpful to clearly state—in an easy-to-find place—that it is difficult to obtain meals and groceries nearby. Meals are surely one of the pleasures of a vacation.

    Attractions Before Check-in

Getting to the front desk feels like an attraction, as if the Accommodation were built halfway up a cliff. First, the parking lot is quite far away, and you can’t reach the main building without using the Shuttle Service. From the Shuttle Service drop-off point to the front desk, you have to take a ropeway-like ride in turn, so it takes quite a while. The Accommodation’s Onsen, Room, and especially the meals are excellent. However, perhaps because breakfast was crowded, it seemed our turn was skipped; even after waiting for a long time we weren’t called and were forgotten. The table call button also seemed broken, and we were overlooked by the staff as well and couldn’t get our meal. It was disappointing. Other than that, I think it’s a very good Accommodation.

    Repeat guest; stayed...

Repeat guest; stayed to celebrate my daughter’s birthday What was good Because check-in and check-out are split into two time slots, it helps reduce congestion at the front desk. Despite the large number of guests, neither the private baths nor the large public bath felt crowded. In a four-person Room, the open-air bath had a screen door, which helped keep out insects and leaves. Filling the tub and adding hot water could be done with a single button, which was simple and convenient. The meals were generous in portion size; there were snacks (steamed meat buns) and late-night soba, plus complimentary ice pops and drinks, coffee, and sweets. The massage chairs I mentioned last time had been properly maintained, and the number had increased from three to four. Above all, it is wonderful that as a Pink Ribbon Accommodation they even provide bathing wear (yumi-gi). As someone who always checks how busy the large public bath is before going in at quieter times, I truly appreciated this. What was disappointing As before, I felt dinner service operations were poor. Even when I pressed the call button—just like last time—no one came to take our drink order. Since there was water nearby, I ended up getting it myself as self-service. While I was getting water, staff walked right past without offering to bring it for me. If water and tea are self-service, I think you should inform guests in advance when they enter the restaurant. (Some tables did not appear to be self-service for water or tea as well, which felt unpleasant.) It also felt unpleasant that items cleared from another table were placed next to dishes being served at the next table. This is something I noticed last time too: treating tables outside one’s assigned section as “not my responsibility” seems questionable for hospitality service. Being ignored when speaking to staff—or being told “please wait” with no one coming—made me wonder if this is acceptable in a service business. As before, food spills on the restaurant floor were left uncleaned by anyone even after being noticed. Stepping on them feels very unpleasant; perhaps everyone is too busy to pay attention to their surroundings. Possibly due to rising prices, it felt like the meal menu had become less substantial than before. Since breakfast service was handled without any issues, dinner was especially disappointing. Requests (just hopes) It would be nice if there were cold drinks available at reception as well. At other Onsen Ryokan where this impressed me positively: how about offering detox water (with herbs or lemon)? (Since many options are sweet beverages/soft drinks), having something refreshing would be appreciated.) For Sekkisei amenities in the Room: if possible,,I would appreciate having facial cleanser provided in bottles as well. This is stillthe Pink Ribbon Accommodation where I feel safest staying,,soI would like tto return again..

The Room and Onsen are great, but the meals are a bit underwhelming.

We stayed in the detached Deluxe Twin. The Room was quite nice, and the in-room bath was excellent. However, the detached building is far from the main building, so getting around was a bit inconvenient. As for service, perhaps it was part-time staff—some of the explanations were a little off. Training part-time staff must be tough. The biggest issue was the meals. It seemed that the same meals were served regardless of how much guests paid per night. It wasn’t that it tasted bad, but it was simply “good in an ordinary way,” and nothing particularly memorable. I’d like to see meals prepared appropriately to match what guests are paying. Overall, because the food fell short, I wouldn’t rate it a 5.

    Senbonmatsu Farm Soft-Serve Ice Cream

I have stayed at Rengetsu more than 10 times. I am always very satisfied with the meals, the Onsen, and the excellent service from the staff. What I especially look forward to every time is chatting with the guide-driver who provides Shuttle Service from the Hotel to Nasushiobara Station. During our conversations, he mentioned the soft-serve ice cream at Senbonmatsu Farm, so this time I tried it before staying at Rengetsu. It was delicious. I will definitely stay again, and when I do, please share more local tips as our guide-driver—I’m looking forward to it. P.S. Happy birthday to our guide-driver!

I stayed here because I couldn’t book my preferred Accommodation for a New Year trip. I understand it was a busy season, but there were many situations with long waiting times, such as before check-in and when being guided for meals. Also, during my Multiple Night Stay, I requested cleaning before going out, but it wasn’t done, which was disappointing. Since it was a special trip, I can’t say it was an overall satisfying stay.

It feels like the user experience hasn’t been given much consideration.

Stayed for two nights. I understood in advance that dinner would be at 8:00 PM, and that after parking in a distant lot there would be a Shuttle Service. However, when I actually stayed there, I was told, “We can only provide the Shuttle Service until 5:00 PM, so please return by then.” Since I had an itinerary, it was frustrating to be told this only after arriving. In the end I adjusted as much as I could, but being told on the day that it was only until 5:00 PM was difficult—especially because dinner is at 8:00 PM, meaning you have to come back at 5:00 PM and wait three hours until dinner. This may be their own policy, but they should at least confirm or inform guests in advance. In addition, there were various other small issues—for example, even after pressing the call bell for meals five times, no one came—so overall it did not feel like a satisfying trip. If I’m paying the same Accommodation Fee, I think it’s better to choose a Hotel that provides standard service.

The service is excellent, even down to the smallest details.

The late-night ramen, complimentary ice cream in the bath area, and free snacks by the elevator were all wonderful. I also loved being able to choose from a wide selection of cute yukata, from men’s to women’s styles. Every service was excellent, and I liked it so much that I’d like to visit again.

    Highly satisfied.

I have used many Kyoritsu Resort Accommodations, but this was my first stay at Rengetsu. The atmosphere exceeded my expectations, and not only the Onsen Facility but also the meals were outstanding—I was extremely satisfied. The staff were efficient and attentive, and I had no complaints at all. I would like to make an opportunity to return again.

    A Perfect Stay

We stayed here for our wedding anniversary trip! From the moment we arrived and stepped inside, we were surrounded by a calm atmosphere and a comfortable space. We immediately felt at ease and naturally relaxed. The Room was spacious, impeccably clean, and very comfortable. In addition, every Facility and service in the property was thoughtfully maintained, so we didn’t feel any inconvenience during our stay and were able to enjoy a truly perfect time. Each dish was beautifully presented and tasted wonderful—an indulgent experience worthy of a special occasion. Above all, the staff’s hospitality was outstanding; their warm words and attentive care moved us again and again. Everything—from the Room to the Facility, services, and hospitality—was of an exceptionally high standard, making it a truly perfect experience from start to finish. Thanks to you, we were able to spend an unforgettable wedding anniversary! We would love to visit again on another special day. Thank you very much.

    We had a great time.

I returned to enjoy a snowy Onsen bath in winter. This time I chose an early check-in Plan, so I was able to fully enjoy the private bath as well. The Room also has an Onsen bath, but the private bath is larger, so it’s great to stretch out and relax in spacious comfort. Next time, I’d like to visit when the fresh greenery is dazzling.

    A Relaxing Hotel

Whenever I stay in Shiobara, I always choose Rengetsu. From check-in to the meals, the attentive service and hospitality are excellent, and the view from the Room with an open-air bath is wonderful. The dinner and breakfast are especially delicious, with so many dishes that I can’t finish them all—very satisfying. This is a Hotel I highly recommend and will want to visit again.

We stayed here to celebrate my girlfriend’s birthday.

“Shuttle Service” A shuttle bus is available from Nasushiobara Station, and the ride took about 40 minutes both ways. The Shuttle Service required advance Reservation by phone, and the staff were courteous and reassuring. The slope car from the bus stop to the Accommodation felt like it had a slightly long wait. “Service” In addition to a welcome drink, there are complimentary ice cream and drinks in the post-bath lounge, as well as steamed buns, late-night soba, and in the Room you’ll find water, tea, beer, snacks, etc.—so many free items it’s hard to count. “Room” The Room had a daybed, so I was able to relax from the moment I arrived. The private open-air bath in the Room allowed temperature adjustment and was spacious enough for two. Since it’s a bit of a walk from the open-air bath to the shower area, I recommend turning up the Room temperature slightly during colder seasons. “Dining” Dinner was kaiseki served in a private room. Every dish was high quality, and there was an option called “Kokorobakari” that let you add as many favorite items as you like within the course so you can adjust portion size. It’s delicious enough that you could stay here just for the food. For breakfast, we were seated by a window in the same venue. As it was during a cold season, we enjoyed our meal while looking out at snowy scenery—it was a wonderful moment. The food quality matched dinner’s standards and came in satisfying portions. “Overall” This is an Accommodation where you can spend truly comfortable time. The staff service was excellent and made me want to return. It’s great not only for dates but also as a gift for parents or for a slightly luxurious trip with friends.

    Arrived by private c...

Arrived by private car. I drove to the Accommodation entrance, and a staff member came out immediately and guided me to a parking lot about 5 minutes away. This is the “First Parking Lot,” and guests are shuttled back and forth to the Accommodation. Only guests staying in the annex can use the parking lot near the Accommodation, but it looked like there was also space for other guests; coming from Miyagi, I felt the road on the way would not be a problem to drive. However, due to the location, some guests come even in winter with normal tires, and they said slopes can freeze. The shuttle setup was stress-free and made sense. In addition to the Room’s semi-open-air bath and a large public bath (with an open-air section), there are three private baths available at any time during your stay. The large public bath and private baths are slightly on the cooler side, but one of the private baths has an interesting system: after soaking, when you stand up (and the water level drops), hot water is automatically added. I had never seen anything like it. After doing this a few times, it reached my preferred temperature. The Room bath uses an on-demand filling system (one button fills it, and another adds more hot water), and it was exactly my preferred temperature—heat that soaks into your body. Truly perfect. The meals included dishes I’d never experienced elsewhere—such as mustard served with dobin-mushi, and vinegared miso alongside tuna sashimi—and everything was delicious. There were also pufferfish dishes, which really made me feel how pufferfish production areas have been moving northward. Some of the tableware had the Accommodation’s name on it and seemed custom-made. Including these dishes, much of the interior left a strong impression of skin-tone (yellow?) colors—perhaps intended to evoke the color of salty hot-spring water. At the elevator entrance outside the dining area, there were rose-shaped sweets labeled “Renge-tsuki’s meddling.” Happy Turn rice crackers, Pine Ame candies, Awadama candies, etc. I thought, “That’s unfair.” You can’t help but take some. Thinking back—the lift from near the entrance up to the main building; all those private baths; how you adjust temperatures in both your Room’s semi-open-air bath—there are lots of small touches throughout that delight you. This time I spent most of my stay focused on enjoying the hot springs, but it seems there is still much more staging to discover at this Accommodation. I’ll save that for next time.

The guide and driver were excellent.

The Shuttle Service driver from Rengetsu to Nasu-Shiobara Station was incredibly fun to talk with. He said, “I’m both your guide and driver,” and he kept us entertained with enjoyable stories along the way while taking us to the station. I’d love to visit Rengetsu again so I can ride with him and have another great time. I have one request for Rengetsu: please increase the number of Rooms without the black netting on the balcony. When enjoying the open-air bath in the guest room and feeling close to nature, it’s better without a net. I hope you will consider it. Thank you.

Facility: 5, Service: 3, No repeat.

A 30-year-old male stayed with his partner. The room and onsen were excellent—spacious, clean, and flawless. The meals, while standard kaiseki cuisine, were satisfying if you don't have specific preferences. However, there were some downsides: staff did not respond when called during meals, and there were minor cleanliness issues in the room (e.g., dirt left in the humidifier and trash from a previous guest found in the pocket of the provided room wear). These details detracted from an otherwise great facility experience. While reception services were fine, more attention to these unseen areas would be appreciated. Additionally, the pathway to the bath was cold and could use improvement. Overall, while high-level service is not expected here, considering it charges more than a typical business hotel, I would hope for at least a general standard where such issues do not arise. Despite having good facilities, I am unlikely to return due to service concerns.

The hospitality was very pleasant. We are deeply grateful for the thoughtful consideration of the staff, including the parking lot and Room arrangements, as we had a person with disabilities in our group.
