    Fun for the whole family!

    Having previously stayed and been highly satisfied, I recommended this wonderful Ryokan in Onomichi to my travel-loving son who lives in Tokyo. This time, we found a great Connect Plan for the Asahi Room and Sakura Room, so we stayed as a family. Everything was even more upgraded than before, and the whole family was delighted. The warm hospitality from the General Manager and all the staff was truly appreciated. We enjoyed not only the food and drinks but also inclusive offerings of local specialties such as vinegar, snacks, aroma products, and loungewear that reflect Onomichi's traditions—an indulgent experience indeed. We are planning to stay again soon with different members of our group. Thank you in advance!

    The accommodation offers various enjoyable experiences, which is its charm. While the location may seem inconvenient for exploring Onomichi, it is recommended to finish sightseeing early and check in sooner. There are plenty of things to enjoy on the premises, such as the serene atmosphere and lounge services. Dinner features a wide variety of dishes and drinks, while breakfast is simple yet delicious—a personally ideal combination. The bath facilities are also relaxing. This is an accommodation I would love to revisit. I stayed in a room on the first floor of a two-story building; however, those sensitive to footsteps might prefer another room.

    I was looking forward to it, but...

    The accommodation was supposed to be all-inclusive, but the room's refrigerator was empty. It was inconvenient to put on shoes and go to the lounge for drinks after a bath. In other accommodations I’ve stayed at, chilled drinks, tea sets, and snacks were always provided in the refrigerator, so I felt a bit disappointed. Women's amenities were not prepared in the bathroom; instead, I was told to request what I needed at the front desk, which surprised me. The building is old and has charm, but applying makeup was difficult as the mirror was positioned low and there wasn’t a chair—I had to crouch down to do my makeup. A stand mirror would have been helpful at least. The dining area had been renovated with an open kitchen concept, which I thought was nice. However, breakfast could have been better considering this price range.

    Unnecessary items are omitted...

    The concept of simplicity and removing unnecessary items is understood. However, the white board labeled "Private" where the bathroom in the Room used to be feels uninviting. From the entrance door to the bed, there is nothing to block visibility, and even when lying down, shadows of people passing by in the hallway can be seen. In addition, there is no partition between the door of the public bath and the changing lockers, which creates a somewhat uneasy feeling. Hmm... I don't think I would visit again.

    The staff provided excellent service, allowing us to relax and enjoy our stay. Despite the cold and rainy weather, we had a blissful time admiring the garden, sea, and sky from the warmth of indoors. The meals were absolutely delicious. Although our family doesn't usually drink much alcohol, we thoroughly enjoyed listening to the explanations of the dishes and wine during dinner. It was a one-night stay that left every member of our family completely satisfied. We would love to stay here again when visiting Hiroshima. Thank you very much!

    Delicious Meals

    We stayed on a weekday as a couple, and apart from meal times, we didn’t encounter other guests, allowing us to relax and unwind. The live kitchen dining experience was delightful, as we could watch the chef’s skillful techniques up close, making the dishes even more enjoyable. It was wonderful to see seasonal Hiroshima ingredients being used prominently. The cooking methods truly brought out the best in the ingredients. Since it’s all-inclusive, next time I’d love to stay with a group of friends who enjoy drinking.

    Thank you for your hospitality. The spacious room was comfortable and seemed perfect for a relaxing stay, but the loud footsteps from the guests in the second-floor room were quite disturbing, making it hard to relax. The noise directly above the bedroom was particularly noticeable. It didn’t seem like they were intentionally stomping, but the creaking sounds were too loud for regular living noises. This aspect was disappointing.

    We had a wonderful time.

    I had reserved a room with a bed as I am not comfortable with futons, but I was offered a lovely room that was available, so I switched to that. It was very relaxing, and the food and drinks were absolutely delicious. Next time, I plan to visit with my close friends.

    Satisfied.

    Upon arrival at the parking lot, we were warmly welcomed and guided to the lounge in the main building. The lounge had a blend of modernity and nostalgic Showa-era charm, with beautiful wooden craftsmanship, making it very comfortable. We enjoyed matcha tea and sweets as a welcome treat. We stayed in the Umeno room, chosen for its outdoor bath and hinoki wood bath. Since it was all-inclusive, we immediately brought two craft beers to our room to indulge in luxury. Dinner was a French course meal. From amuse-bouche to the main dish, everything—from ingredients to preparation and presentation—was exceptional, perfectly paired with wine. To our surprise, additional dishes were offered after dessert; I was particularly impressed by the cheese selection. For breakfast, even a neighboring guest mentioned it was the best they’d ever had—and I completely agree! Every dish was carefully prepared; from rice to fish and vegetables, everything was delicious with just the right portions that left me reminiscing about wanting more. We were told that sunrise would be beautiful from the garden—and indeed it was mesmerizing watching the red sun glow brightly. As we departed, I received a heartfelt letter from one of your staff members—it truly touched me. I hope to visit again during cherry blossom season!

    It was a wonderful Ryokan.

    To all the staff, everything about the Ryokan was wonderful. I was able to spend a very happy time. From the moment I stepped into the Ryokan until I left, the staff took great care of me, allowing me to spend all my time comfortably and leisurely. The conversation with the sommelier was so enjoyable that dinner time flew by. I heard many great stories! The food and wine were absolutely delicious. I would love to visit again! Please take care of me then as well. Thank you very much.

    I was looking forward to the meal, but

    To get straight to the point, I had too high expectations for the meals. I chose to stay because the meal reviews were good, but there was no impression as described in the reviews. As someone who looks forward to meals the most, it was disappointing. The facility has history and is wonderful.

    Second visit

    I stayed with my wife to create Christmas memories. As always, it was a wonderful property. Last year we visited in the summer, and this year in the winter. Upon check-in, we were upgraded to a room due to availability. The room had a historical charm and a well-equipped indoor bath, which made both my wife and I very satisfied. The meals were, needless to say, excellent! The staff's courteous service and attention to detail made us feel very happy. It was the best hospitality. I hope to visit again during the cherry blossom season.

    Room is Ume no Ma

    We stayed at Onomichi Nishiyama for our anniversary, and it was great. The dinner was the highlight! Having French cuisine at the Ryokan in room wear allowed us to relax. The delicious course meal paired perfectly with champagne & wine, making for a wonderful time. The room was a renovated old house, so I don't have much to say about it. The room cleaning was... I dropped the room key by the bedside, and when I picked it up, I regrettably saw under the bed, which was covered in dust. It was disappointing.

    As expected from a building with history, it was a magnificent structure. The garden was also beautiful, harmonizing wonderfully with the charming Showa-era ambiance, and I was glad to have visited. I was surprised by the smoothness of the bathwater. The staff's smiles made for a memorable trip.

    It was the best Stays.

    We visited this Property as a gift from our daughter-in-law, who knows how much we love to travel, and it was a truly wonderful Stays. Each building has its own unique charm, and I thought any of the separate Rooms would be lovely to stay in. We were upgraded due to availability, and the Room we stayed in was spacious and beautiful, with a view of the sunrise. The lounge was very relaxing, with stylish interiors and attention to detail in the drinks and cups, making us want to stay for hours. The main French dinner was absolutely superb. Every dish was delicious, and the wine pairing with each course was excellent, allowing us to enjoy a relaxed and delightful meal. The dessert buffet offered seven varieties, and I wished I had another stomach to try them all. However, the true excellence of this Property lies in its staff. Every staff member was wonderful and provided exceptional service. Thank you for creating such wonderful memories. Next time, I hope to visit with my son and his wife to enjoy the delicious cuisine again.

    The meals are exquisite.

    The portions were just right and very delicious. If needed, you could add à la carte items or desserts, which was a nice option for adjusting the meal to your preference. The room was beautifully renovated, and it was memorable to stay in a room where Kakuei Tanaka once stayed. The staff kindly recommended sightseeing spots and were very accommodating. One concern was that there were two families with young children among the guests. It was unfortunate that during meals, the noise made it difficult to enjoy a leisurely dining experience. For such a high-end ryokan, I would appreciate more attention to creating a relaxing space for adults. Overall, I thought it was very good.
