A win-win Accommodation where you can enjoy both the charm of the old and the freshness of the new
I visited in early summer. The two of us stayed in the “Tasogare” Room with dinner and breakfast included. It’s located at the top of a very steep hill, and it truly felt like an Accommodation you’ll want to visit while you’re still fit. That said, I think it’s an even better location for relaxing away from the crowds. Breakfast can also be enjoyed as brunch after check-out, which I loved—it’s a thoughtful service for those who aren’t good with early mornings or find it tough to eat right after waking up. It really fits the idea of taking things slow. As it’s all-inclusive, snacks and drinks, ice-cream puffs, and homemade frozen curry are always available—perfect for indulging in a lazy stay when you just want something small to nibble on. Some areas feel dated, and outside noise can carry at times, but overall it didn’t bother me. The Onsen was genuinely very hot so you do need to be careful getting in, but it was great that you can bathe anytime.

It was disappointing.
My first solo trip. A male staff member at the front desk explained the facilities and meal times in an overly familiar manner, as if we already knew each other. After climbing the dusty stairs mentioned in a Review, I entered my Room and was disappointed: an old Japanese-style Room with cheaply renovated wallpaper. The large mirror in the bath was covered with limescale, and I couldn’t even wear the post-bath loungewear hanging on a hanger. The all-inclusive plan offered plenty of alcohol, and the meals were delicious, but overall it was an Accommodation that didn’t live up to my expectations.

The Onsen is lukewarm.
- The in-Room Onsen bath water was lukewarm. - The shower temperature would not get hot enough. - I burned my shoulder on the stainless-steel frame at the entrance to the private sauna. - Some items on the meal menu did not match what was served. - The bed in the Room was comfortable. It does not need to be posted publicly, but please share this feedback with the host.

The Room was a complete disappointment.
I regretted choosing this Room because it was such a disappointment. The food was delicious, and the all-inclusive plan may be good. However, I will never choose this Room again. In any case, the Room is far from every Facility and there are many stairs. Also, the all-inclusive drinks are only served in glasses, which makes them inconvenient to carry. As for the Room itself: there were inexplicable stones placed inside; the shower temperature settings were off; when I reported it, the staff member who came did not listen (they started doing various things on their own—when in fact it would have been enough to fix the button on the temperature control knob that I mentioned at the beginning); one side of the bed power outlet was broken so we had to use the bed farther from where we needed access; opening and closing the door to go out to the balcony with an open-air bath was complicated and bothersome; and the balcony roll-up curtain was worn out... none of this was explained at all. When I tried to change my mood and go to the sauna instead of using a large public bath, there was a notice saying: “At present, neither tub is filled with Onsen water; both are cold-water baths.” (Again, no explanation—this wasn’t stated during Reservation from within the Room either.) I went all that way for nothing. Then I had to climb many stairs again just to return to my Room... It completely killed my motivation to try and enjoy myself. I understand it says things like “renovated property,” but I don’t think that excuses issues at this level.

Delicious breakfast!
After work, I was planning to arrive at 9:00 PM. I arrived a little early—about an hour ahead of schedule. They welcomed me without any sign of annoyance, which I really appreciated. The last stretch to the Accommodation includes a steep hill and a narrow road. After reading the Reviews, choosing a compact car was the right call. Approaching from the opposite direction might be wider and easier. Every Room comes with its own free-flowing Onsen bath. The tub had a modern, stylish look, and the Onsen water itself was clear, odorless, and wonderful. The Room was clean, and even from the lobby, all the matching chairs were adorable. The in-room furniture was simple yet stylish as well. Personally, I loved the loungewear/pajamas provided for inside the Accommodation. There were bugs in the bath… (sadly) But since there are no windows and it’s a semi-open-air bath, I understood that it can’t really be helped. With the lights off, I could relax and soak at my own pace. Because it’s an all-inclusive Accommodation, snacks plus alcohol and juice are available 24/7 with unlimited refills. It’s small in scale, but being able to have champagne anytime was amazing. We can’t do this at home, but my husband and I even toasted while soaking in the bath. Some Reviews mentioned that sound carries easily, so I felt a bit uneasy before staying—but it didn’t bother me much at all. Breakfast was incredibly delicious—and very generous in portion size too. The restaurant has separate sections for each table area, and once again the furnishings were very stylish. Next time I’d love to try dinner as well. By the way, there were plenty of alcohol options at dinner too. I’m happy to have found another great Accommodation—now I’m even more excited to visit Manazuru and Yugawara again.

Once again, the stay exceeded our expectations.
This was my repeat stay. This time I stayed in the “Tasogare” Room, and its calm atmosphere allowed me to truly relax. As someone who enjoys alcohol, the all-inclusive plan—where I can enjoy my favorite drinks without worrying about extra charges—is a major highlight unique to this Accommodation. Because you can take your time without watching the clock, it’s easy to end up staying longer than planned. Also, compared with my previous visit, there were more types of games available to bring into the Room, which could be great when staying with two or more people. The private sauna I look forward to every time also came with a full 90 minutes—plenty of time—and I really appreciated being able to use it at my own pace without worrying about others. After the sauna, I could unwind in the lobby, my Room, or the lounge, making for a truly luxurious experience. All of the staff were courteous and warm, and I felt comfortable throughout my stay. Even as a returning guest, it was nice to be treated with consistent kindness. If I had one small note: the slope leading down to the parking area is a bit steep, so drivers of low-clearance cars or those not confident behind the wheel may need to be cautious. That said, it seems unavoidable given the location. Overall, I was very satisfied again this time. I’d love to return in another season. Thank you very much.

The meals were delicious.
I’ve stayed here several times because I love the sauna and the all-inclusive plan. The dinner keeps improving every time I visit, and it was excellent again this time! I hope to come back around autumn.

We were able to relax and enjoy our time.
Although the Accommodation’s location was mentioned in advance, the steep slope made it a bit challenging. That said, it also heightened the sense of being somewhere special upon arrival. The bath was fed directly from the hot spring source, and I enjoyed it many times during my stay. It was great to be able to relax without worrying about time. Every meal had thoughtful touches and was delicious, and there was also an all-you-can-drink selection with a wide variety of beverages, which made the overall experience very satisfying. The lounge, available 24 hours a day, was comfortable as well—I found myself going back again and again. The staff were courteous and attentive throughout, making my stay pleasant from start to finish. Overall, this is an Accommodation where you can truly enjoy the stay itself—especially the baths, meals, and lounge—and I was very satisfied. I would love to return if I have the chance.

I felt that the Facility, service, and Room will likely become more refined over time. If you are going to offer an all-inclusive plan, I felt that at this level it would be better to have a bit more that feels special. From arrival, the service made me uneasy—for example, being told we could find the parking information on the website, and being guided to opposite ends of the lobby from my companion. However, dinner was very sophisticated, and as night fell I stopped noticing the color choices of the Room’s wallpaper and curtains, and it gradually started to feel like a nice place.

Pretty good for the Casual Class!
The Room is compact, but it has a wonderful free-flowing Onsen bath, available anytime. The meals are thoughtfully prepared and truly delicious—I feel this place is top-tier in its class. The staff work very hard and are genuinely kind, and I was pleasantly surprised that the complimentary wine was Japanese. I visited shortly after the renovation some time ago, and compared to then, the building’s decor now feels much more settled and well integrated. I think it’s an Accommodation where you can relax at ease—whether traveling alone or as a pair—and really enjoy your stay. After a long stretch of being busy with work, I came for an easy break; there is also a sauna, and I was able to unwind deeply and felt better physically afterward, which I truly appreciated. Not necessarily in comparison with other places, but there was no reason to deduct any stars, so this is my rating.

A cozy Accommodation atop a steep hill, featuring a private sauna
We stayed in discounted Room “2,” offered at a lower rate due to certain conditions. It is located beneath the restaurant, so some noise can be heard, and the in-room Onsen bathroom is said to be a bit small, but neither bothered us much. You do hear sounds at times, but it was quiet when we were sleeping, so it should be fine unless you are very sensitive to noise. As for the bath, unless you are very tall, it likely won’t feel too cramped. I did wish the natural scenery outside the window were a bit better maintained, but the Onsen was pleasant with free-flowing natural spring water (we couldn’t find any posted information on the spring quality). The water runs hot, but you can adjust it with cold water.\nThere is a small room in an annex of the main building called the Mist Lounge, with some alcohol and snacks as well as other drinks and items like ice-cream puffs. There is also a microwave, and the frozen curry rice (mini size) was delicious.\nThere is no large public bath, but there are three types of private sauna rooms (with cold plunge baths), which makes this Accommodation especially great for sauna lovers.

Visit Yugawara this spring
This Accommodation left a strong impression when I stayed last July, but this time I was able to enjoy the scenery and atmosphere unique to Yugawara in spring, and it reminded me how dramatically the experience can change with the seasons. Seasonal flowers were blooming along the path to the building and around the area, and I felt truly soothed by the gentle spring air and the sound of the river. The “Tasogare” Room was especially memorable for its large glass partition between the guest Room and bathroom; it’s wonderful how natural light and different times of day completely change the mood of the space. The in-Room bath is 100% free-flowing Onsen water. Being able to soak whenever I wanted while gazing absentmindedly at spring-like scenery felt incredibly luxurious. At night, surrounded by calm lighting and quietness, I could forget everyday life and relax at my own pace. The all-inclusive mist lounge remained as comfortable as ever, and I also loved how smoothly you can unwind there right after using the sauna. The cuisine reflected the season beautifully, and I was happy to enjoy it in a different way from my previous visit. It was a stay that let me fully appreciate Yugawara’s springtime charm—so different from visiting in summer.

[Room] We chose a Room with an indoor bath. Since the hot water would not run, we contacted the front desk and they assisted us. The bath was great, with free-flowing hot spring water straight from the source. [Dining] Dinner was luxurious with gentle flavors. The portions are on the smaller side, so it may not be enough for younger guests. Compared to dinner, breakfast had more strongly seasoned items, and it felt like they were not chef-prepared. The grilled fish was delicious. [Other] As this is an older building that has been renovated, we could feel its age in places. Also, there are many stairs, so it may be difficult for elderly guests.

Completely satisfied with everything.
Upon arrival, I immediately felt the lobby had a calm atmosphere. The front desk staff provided a polite and easy-to-understand explanation. The Room blended the charm of an old house with modern touches, making it very comfortable. The in-room bath felt new, and I ended up soaking in the free-flowing Onsen many times. Although there seemed to be other guests, I hardly ran into anyone inside the property—it almost felt like a private stay. The meal (a breakfast-only Plan) was filling and very delicious. Overall, I had an extremely satisfying time. I would like to stay again.

Mold in the in-room open-air bath!
My main reason for booking was the in-Room open-air bath. The Room, toilet, and other areas were very clean and comfortable, but the open-air bath itself was terrible. For some reason it had mirrored walls, and the mirrors were in awful condition. The roll-up blind was covered in mold, and on top of that the cars in the parking lot were clearly visible from the open-air bath. I couldn’t relax because I worried that if someone looked up, they might be able to see me. It was also very difficult to adjust the water temperature. The shower took a long time to get hot water, which was frustrating. I went expecting to relax, but I ended up feeling tired instead.

It was a very relaxing return stay, and we were completely satisfied.
I returned for the first time in six months. My previous stay was very satisfying, but what impressed me most this time was how much the cuisine has evolved. The menu has been refined, and each dish feels even more polished—I was truly satisfied with both the flavors and presentation. The all-inclusive service remains a major highlight, allowing me to relax throughout my stay without worrying about extra charges. I also used the 90-minute private sauna, which was a luxurious experience I could enjoy at my own pace without concern for others. Both tubs inside the sauna were cold baths, so I would have appreciated it if one had been warm water. The property has a calm atmosphere, and I was able to refresh both body and mind away from everyday life. I would definitely like to visit again.

The new format is great!
Although there is no large public bath, each Room has a free-flowing Onsen bath. In addition to the typical one-night stay with two meals, they offer breakfast-only Plans and No Meals Included Plans, and the all-inclusive style felt new, flexible, and refreshing. The explanations and service were courteous, and the breakfast was delicious; we chose a breakfast-only Plan this time, but it was good enough that we are considering adding dinner next time. The only disappointment was that while the shower pressure in the bath was excellent, the drainage was weak and water tended to pool. If they can maintain this level of cleanliness, I have high hopes for the renovated Rooms going forward as well. I would like to visit again.

Very satisfied with the meals!
The Room is spacious, but the bath is extremely small. They renovated an old Ryokan with a design concept, but it feels cheaply built. There are issues such as mold in the bathroom and poor garden maintenance. Dinner was outstanding—highly rated! I also enjoyed the all-inclusive plan! I would come back for the meals! But the steep slope up to get here is scary!

Nothing but disappointments
Used for a one-night mother–daughter trip. There was availability two days before our stay, so we were grateful to make a Reservation. Upon arrival, when we visited 10 minutes before check-in, we were reprimanded for being too early, which left us feeling very upset. We managed to complete the check-in process somehow, but there was no welcome drink and no guidance to our Room. For an Accommodation costing 30,000 yen per person per night, this is unacceptable. I had read many online stay reports in advance, and it seems that—like many places—services have continued to be scaled back in 2026 as well. The complimentary items in the Room refrigerator and the so-called lounge both felt sparse and disappointing. The Facility is built on a steep slope, and due to forced expansions and renovations there are extreme ups and downs throughout. Despite steep stone steps, some areas have no handrails. There are not enough power outlets in the Room, which is inconvenient. Footsteps from neighboring rooms above/below/next door echoed late at night and early in the morning, making it hard to relax. The meals also seem to have been reduced—there wasn’t even an hassun course platter—and the flavors were bland and hard to call delicious. There were also many strongly distinctive ingredients such as cordyceps; I believe this should be announced in advance (it seems they focus on medicinal cuisine). Overall, I could not relax at all in any aspect of this stay. Even considering rising prices and labor costs, this Accommodation offered extremely poor value.

The meals are excellent.
The health-focused meals were unlike anything we had ever had at an Onsen Ryokan, both in ingredients and cooking methods, and they suited us well as an older couple. We knew in advance that there is no elevator in the Accommodation, but since we chose a “hillside Room” this time, there were many corridors and stairs to reach it, which was a bit challenging. If we stay again, we will choose a Room on a lower floor.

I had a wonderful st...
I had a wonderful stay. The Room was clean and quiet. The bathtub in the Room is large, with plenty of length to stretch out, and it is wide enough for two slim people to bathe side by side. It was also helpful during cooler seasons that the bathroom window closes tightly (I left it open until evening, so many small insects got in, but they were easy to deal with by simply rinsing them away). If water splashes onto the partition window between the bathtub and the Room, it can leak into the Room, so it’s best to be careful (water overflowing from the tub often hits that window). The steep slope from the bus stop to the Accommodation and the many stairs inside are also things to keep in mind. There are some uneven stone steps as well, but handrails are generally provided. I was happy that everything was prepared so I could grind beans and make drip coffee. However, it was disappointing that the dripper shape did not match the filter shape (I ended up making it work anyway).

Dinner was beautifully presented and truly stunning.
This is about my fourth stay. There are hardly any Accommodations for solo travelers where you can enjoy an all-inclusive sauna and drinks, so it’s incredibly convenient. A beer after the sauna is the best. I heard the head chef has changed, and the food was much better. The presentation was stunning, and the flavors have really improved. The sashimi and meat dishes in particular were outstanding—I want to come back just to eat them again soon. It’s also a quick trip from Tokyo, so I’d love to return to enjoy the sauna and drinks again.

It was a fun and interesting Accommodation.
Thank you for having me on Friday, February 13th. What surprised me more than I expected was the location. I had anticipated it from the map and website information, but the steep uphill road leading to the Accommodation was quite something. I parked in the nearest parking lot, but even so, just carrying my heavy rolling suitcase to the front desk left me out of breath. All of the indoor baths are natural Onsen with free-flowing spring water straight from the source. They felt wonderful, and I enjoyed them many times up until check-out the next morning. The meals were also excellent—everything was delicious with thoughtful touches, and I was very satisfied thanks to the wide variety of all-you-can-drink beverages as well. The lounge available 24 hours a day was another highlight; I used it many times and truly enjoyed it. The staff’s hospitality was outstanding, and I was very pleased overall. However, I did feel a bit uneasy because my Room window had an old screw-type lock that reminded me of early Showa-era fittings, and it wouldn’t lock—possibly due to a malfunction. As for the bath window, there was only a screen with no glass at all, and one edge of that screen had come loose, making it almost like an open-air bath with virtually no window covering. For security reasons this felt concerning, so I hope this can be improved as soon as possible. That said, looking back now, even those points have become fun and memorable stories. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

It felt like a hidden gem of an accommodation.
This was my first time staying here. I booked it to enjoy the private sauna with my girlfriend. We used the EAST sauna, and while there were two cold baths and two reclining chairs, it was disappointing that the sauna room only had space for one person. I may have misunderstood, but the 90-minute session also felt a bit short. The bath was great—the Room had Onsen water supplied, which was wonderful. The Room also had a calm atmosphere, which we liked. It was also nice to be able to grind our own coffee beans. Dinner used local ingredients, and the medicinal cuisine elements made it very tasty. It’s also great that it can be used as a day trip from central Tokyo. I forgot to check whether the other sauna rooms are larger. If two people can fit in together, I’d like to use it again.

It was disappointing.
For those traveling by car, please note that the roads are steep and narrow, so caution is advised. We made a reservation because we were impressed by the elaborate dinner presentation shown on YouTube, but the actual dinner was completely different from what we expected based on the videos and website, leaving us disappointed. Additionally, some services that used to be offered were no longer available upon our visit. There was no welcome drink or luggage assistance at check-in. When making coffee in the room using a grinder and filter, the bottom of the filter broke, causing coffee grounds to fall into the beaker—a disappointing start to our stay. The open-air bath in our room with a view required lowering roll screens for privacy as nearby hotels could be seen in the distance. However, one of two screens could not be lowered despite requesting staff assistance; there was no follow-up afterward. While enjoying the onsen itself was pleasant, strong winds caused lowered screens to flap noisily against railings repeatedly, disrupting relaxation. The room only had a small shower booth which made washing inconvenient and disappointing. There is no large public bath available; only cold water baths are provided in sauna rooms. Snacks in the lounge were not frequently replenished once they ran out. While some staff members were friendly, many passed by silently even when encountered in hallways or lounges—creating an awkward atmosphere. The facility has many stairs throughout its premises making it unsuitable for elderly guests but may appeal more towards younger visitors who enjoy saunas or drinking alcohol. Given its price range and high expectations beforehand—it left us feeling quite disappointed overall.

The atmosphere was pleasant.
The atmosphere of the Room and the private bath provided a comfortable space. Since it doesn't feel like a traditional Ryokan, the staff's service felt slightly awkward, but it might not bother some people. With the all-inclusive plan, there was a wide variety of alcoholic beverages to enjoy during meals. I think it's very good value for money. For those who eat a lot, the meals might feel insufficient. It seems just right for those who enjoy drinking alcohol.

The sound carries significantly.
I stayed here for a solo trip. The building is said to be renovated, but the walls, doors, and stairs gave a rather cheap impression. The interior felt as if it was DIY-ed with inexpensive wood. As a result, vibrations and sounds echoed significantly. I could hear footsteps in the hallway and conversations from the neighboring Room. I even checked with the front desk to see if I had been mistakenly assigned to a Room prone to noise. Additionally, due to the New Year holidays, the light snacks provided in the Room were changed without prior notice. It was replaced with an unidentified sweet (no ingredient list or store name), which was disappointing. While I have no complaints about the small bath as it was disclosed beforehand, I would appreciate improvements regarding mold issues. Looking up at the ceiling revealed significant dirt that startled me; however, the Room itself was clean. The parking lot is located on a steep slope and narrow alleyway, so those not confident in their driving skills might want to reconsider using it. The staff's service was very polite and kind. Thank you very much!

The accommodation was originally a Ryokan built during the Taisho era, which was later restored by Real Quality Co., known for operating several all-inclusive accommodations. Due to renovations, the ceilings are low and the layout feels like a maze, but I personally enjoyed the historical atmosphere. The meals were very delicious, and I appreciated the private Onsen attached to my room. The staff were also kind and helpful. I did not use the sauna. Overall, as a Ryokan, it felt average and slightly overpriced. As an all-inclusive accommodation, it seemed clearly expensive for what was offered. While cost-performance isn't everything, I didn't feel fully satisfied in terms of value or experience. I wouldn't recommend or revisit this place again.

A unique traditional accommodation transformed significantly through renovation
The building is old, but it has been renovated to create a comfortable and refreshed interior. The room I stayed in was next to the dining area on the second floor, so stairs were not an issue for me. However, this accommodation does not have an elevator, and the property is spread across a sloped area. For those staying in rooms farther from the dining area or who find stairs challenging, it might be slightly inconvenient. The room was spacious with modern facilities, including updated plumbing. The bed was very comfortable as well. There was an onsen bath in the room with natural hot spring water available anytime, which was a great feature; however, the bathroom itself felt somewhat small and might leave some wanting more space. Please note that this accommodation does not have a large public bath; instead, there are three saunas available for use during your stay. Guests can reserve one of these saunas for free directly from their room during their stay. Sauna enthusiasts will likely enjoy this feature; however, those looking forward to enjoying an onsen in a large public bath may feel slightly disappointed. As for meals, breakfast consisted of standard Japanese dishes while dinner featured a unique fusion of French and Japanese cuisine presented as a creative kaiseki course meal—highly recommended for food lovers! Additionally, beverages are all-inclusive with a wide variety of alcoholic options available—a delightful service for those who enjoy drinks!
