A Relaxing Chichibu & Nagatoro Trip Made Possible by Staying Overnight

I recently went on a relaxing trip with a friend who is usually busy with work. We decided on Chichibu, a popular destination we often see on social media, as it’s close to Tokyo. After doing some research, we booked a guided tour and were shown around the town by an experienced guide. It was enjoyable to learn detailed information that we wouldn’t have discovered on our own, and I highly recommend it. After having a slightly late lunch and feeling tired from walking, we checked in and entered our Room. The Room was originally part of an old pharmacy used for storing medicine. The impressive ceiling and beams left us in awe. The peaceful atmosphere made it easy to enjoy conversations with my friend. The highlight of the trip was definitely the meal. It beautifully showcased Chichibu’s charm through stylish yet delicious dishes featuring vegetables, miso, game meat, fish, and more—all prepared with delicate flavors that were truly exceptional. We also enjoyed sampling three types of sake from a nearby brewery at an affordable price. The next day, we visited Nagatoro. Since we're not morning people, we took our time getting up and found it surprisingly close—just about 20 minutes by train. Considering the travel time from Tokyo overall though, staying overnight was definitely worth it! Although there were more people than expected at Nagatoro, the thrilling riverboat ride led by entertaining boatmen made for an unforgettable experience. It was such a fulfilling weekend getaway! I’d love to recommend this trip to my friends too!
