Accommodation
When I told the staff I was planning to propose, they were incredibly supportive and helpful. The Accommodation was in a quiet area, which was wonderful.

Ideal for sightseeing in Chichibu
We stayed here as a couple for a weekend trip to Chichibu. Although it is a traditional building, it has been renovated in a modern style, and we felt like locals during our stay. It’s a bit of a walk from Seibu-Chichibu Station, but there are supermarkets and convenience stores along the way, which was convenient. We only had breakfast, but it used plenty of local Chichibu ingredients and we were very satisfied.

It was a bit disappointing because of bed bugs.
This was my second time staying at a Hotel renovated from an old building. The retro atmosphere felt refreshing and enjoyable. Both the French dinner and the Chichibu-style breakfast were delicious. When I soaked in the cypress bath, the scent of hinoki was wonderful and very relaxing. There is no TV in the Room, but I was able to spend a calm, leisurely day. However, after dinner and before taking a bath, I found as many as 20 springtails on the bed. There were also millipedes on the floor. Since it was after 10 p.m. and we couldn’t reach any staff, we didn’t know what to do, so we used plenty of insect repellent before going to sleep. Later I looked it up and learned that springtails and millipedes seem to prefer humid environments. The Accommodation itself was very appealing, but to make it more comfortable for guests, I think it’s necessary to run the air conditioner or a dehumidifier before guests arrive, and to help carry luggage down the stairs at check-out.

I stayed in Room 103...
I stayed in Room 103. The Room was very spacious, and the original traditional materials have been preserved, creating a wonderful, out-of-the-ordinary space where I could relax and unwind. The bath was also a hinoki cypress bath with a gentle cypress fragrance that was incredibly soothing. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, and the staff kindly explained the carefully selected Chichibu ingredients, which made the meal even more enjoyable. This is a Hotel I definitely want to stay at again!

It was a wonderful Hotel.
The purpose of our trip to Chichibu as a couple was to stay at this Hotel—above all, to enjoy high-quality cuisine. We have stayed once at NIPPONIA Sawara in Chiba and visited several times for lunch, and the standard of NIPPONIA’s food and service is consistently outstanding. With that in mind, we came to NIPPONIA Chichibu Monzenmachi with high expectations—and it exceeded them, making this a truly satisfying trip. First, the staff’s attentive and comfortable service was excellent—polished yet never overbearing. And the cuisine was superb. Dinner was a French–Italian fusion using local vegetables, meat, and fish, with plenty of the chef’s originality; every dish left an impression, and the overall composition was wonderful. That’s why not listing the chef’s name on the menu feels almost “too modest.” Breakfast the next morning was completely different: a Japanese meal that also showcased local ingredients. Each small dish was carefully prepared, and even the roasted green tea brewed personally by the chef conveyed this Hotel’s thoughtful hospitality. At check-out, we received a card with warm words from a staff member we had spoken with at dinner—it truly moved us. As for the Room itself: it was clean, and the bed was very comfortable. The bath had a large tub, so we could stretch out fully and relax. With so many luxurious Accommodations available these days, I feel this is a rare Hotel that offers great value while providing high-quality service that puts travelers at ease. We would love to visit in every season.

The Room interior was nice. However, I’m not sure it’s appropriate to promote it as a “garden view.”
The Room interior itself was very satisfying. However, in every other respect, it did not feel like the service had been designed from a guest’s perspective, and overall I felt we were handled carelessly. Specifically, there were three major gaps between the Accommodation’s stated concept and the actual guest experience. 1. “Garden view” vs. actual privacy and scenery The Room is designed so you can see the garden from the sofa, but there is no privacy screen or wall, so the guest Room is fully visible from outside. Because there is a parking lot directly in front, several cars parked during our stay and we even made eye contact with strangers. In the end, we had to close the blinds within an hour of arriving. If you advertise a “garden view,” I believe you need either proper screening to protect privacy while viewing or clear communication that does not raise expectations beyond what is provided. 2. “Decentralized Hotel” concept vs. lack of guidance At check-in, we were told this was a “decentralized Hotel” intended to help guests enjoy Chichibu town. However, all we received was a single one-page map. Staff only asked a perfunctory “Did you go anywhere?” with no suggestions or recommendations based on our answer at all. There was also only one partner venue (a bar), which does not match the slogan. 3. Dining experience vs. price range (Accommodation level) Given the price range, I found the food disappointing overall. For example, dishes such as “sweetfish with cucumber and kiwi sauce” left me questioning how the ingredients were meant to be highlighted; soups lacked depth; and despite using local Chichibu ingredients, there were almost no moments where anything tasted truly good—we left much of it unfinished. The tea in particular was terrible—on par with a family restaurant drink bar—and it did not seem they understood that aroma and brewing are essential for tea at all. I do not understand why they would end a course by serving this; I would like them to taste it themselves. 4. Other operations / cleanliness issues During dinner: candles and bagna cauda burners were left unattended even after going out; despite only three parties dining (and an all-you-can-drink setup), staff did not pay attention to empty glasses during service. In the Room: insufficient attention to detail in cleaning—for example, cobwebs above the shower head. In conclusion, what I expected at Reservation time (aside from the interior) was not met. Moreover, because there is such a mismatch between what this Accommodation claims to offer (as I understood it) and what is actually delivered, it felt either that they are not committed to their concept or have not considered what impression they want guests to leave with—hence my impression that everything was handled carelessly throughout our stay.

Relaxing Solo Trip
In the morning, I took a bus from Seibu-Chichibu Station to visit Mitsumine Shrine. After returning by bus, I strolled from Seibu-Chichibu Station and checked in a little after 4:00 PM. When the front desk explained dinner, I hesitantly asked (even though it was last-minute), “I don’t really eat sweets—could the after-dinner dessert be changed to something else?” “If fruit is okay…” So grateful! I happily accepted and looked forward to dinner. I entered my Room facing Banba Street and checked everything inside. It was the Room I had chosen myself, but having the bathroom on the first floor was still a bit inconvenient (laughs). I thought I’d open the window upstairs by the bed to look down at Banba Street, but it was literally right below. Since it was already heading into summer, I didn’t want insects coming in, so in the end I could hardly open the window at all (a screen would have been nice). Dinner at last. They value local production for local consumption, and it showed—both the vegetables and fish (ayu sweetfish) were very fresh. Even the sauces for dipping and drizzling used Chichibu miso and sake, making for a uniquely delicious bagna cauda. With cucumber gazpacho, shiso leaves, basil, and plenty of refreshing greens that looked cool as well as tasted great, I really enjoyed a bright summer-vegetable dish. Because it was an all-inclusive Plan, I ordered Chichibu white wine with dinner. There was also a California Chardonnay, but this felt like the place to choose Chichibu wine—and I’m glad I did. Made with Koshu grapes, it was quite crisp; it didn’t overpower the food at all, and its character shifted pleasantly alongside each dish. Drinks in the Room were also free. After my morning bath (laughs), I enjoyed half a bottle of sparkling wine from the fridge—an indulgence you can’t really do on a road trip. Breakfast was healthy as well! Along with six small side dishes plus Chichibu shakushina (similar to nozawana—I liked it so much that I bought some at Seibu-Chichibu Station on my way home), and grilled fish as an accompaniment, I thoroughly enjoyed a Japanese-style breakfast. An 11:00 AM checkout is another plus. Starting breakfast at 8:00 AM gives you time to eat slowly and then rest in your Room before checking out—10:00 AM always feels rushed. This wasn’t an issue in summer, but some other NIPPONIA Accommodations often provide bath salts. They don’t interfere with hinoki’s aroma—and in winter they warm you through—so it might be worth considering in future if possible. (For reference: this time I brought my own bath salts; after all that walking they were perfect for refreshing tired legs.)

The Room was spaciou...
The Room was spacious and felt like a luxurious space for two people. The view from the sunroom and the bath with a soothing hinoki scent were very relaxing, and we were able to unwind in the calm atmosphere of the Japanese-style room. However, because the bedroom faces the road, we noticed some traffic noise late at night and early in the morning. The meals were colorful overall and beautifully presented; the game dishes, chilled soup, and desserts were especially delicious. On the other hand, there were a few disappointing points regarding service. After check-in, we planned to relax in our Room for a while before dinner, but we were asked to start dinner at 6:00 p.m., so we changed our plans. If dining times are fixed, it would be helpful to be informed in advance. We also noticed that some drink items on the bill were incorrect, and that at checkout we needed to make a phone call from our own smartphone. The Room itself was very appealing, so if service improves as well, I believe this will become an even more satisfying Accommodation.

To commemorate the fulfillment of your wish
I stayed here to commemorate completing the Chichibu Pilgrimage during the Grand Opening. The Room was spacious and comfortable, and the meals made with plenty of local ingredients were delicious, making it a wonderful memory. I also truly appreciated your thoughtful consideration in celebrating my completion.

Thank you for your support.
We thoroughly enjoyed Chichibu. The Facility was clean, and although we had heard it was an older building, we stayed comfortably without any concerns about security or privacy. The food was delicious, and the service was attentive. Thank you very much. We would like to stay again.

Wonderful Accommodation
On my first visit to Chichibu the other day, I stayed at NIPPONIA on a friend’s recommendation. I walked from Seibu-Chichibu Station to the Hotel. The streets along the way had a wonderful atmosphere, with old buildings preserved as they were, and I enjoyed peeking into a few places as I made my way to the Hotel. When I arrived, the noren curtain was gently swaying in the breeze, and I found myself thinking, “So this is where I’m staying.” The front desk was set back inside, and it felt like coming home. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the local area. At check-in, hearing stories about the building along with old photos was fascinating. I had meals for lunch, dinner, and breakfast, and everything was delicious—mostly featuring local ingredients. Chichibu turned out to be far richer in produce than I’d imagined; each dish included something unique to Chichibu, making it both new and delicious to enjoy with my eyes as well as my palate. I stayed in Room 102. It’s a renovated kura storehouse that used to be a warehouse space, and it had a great atmosphere. We talked about places we’d visited that day and planned our trip for the next day—and having no TV felt nice for a change. The bath was an impressive hinoki cypress tub. It was very large for an in-room bath, and I soaked slowly for a long time until I felt warmed through. I usually stay at Hotels with a more glamorous feel, but staying in an old traditional house once in a while is wonderful too. The interior still feels properly hotel-like, so amenities and in-room items were well stocked and I didn’t feel any inconvenience. Looking back now, what stands out most is how great the interactions with the staff were.

It was my second stay with my 89-year-old grandmother. During our previous visit, we were deeply impressed by the service, room, and meals (everything?), and we wanted to visit Nagatoro again, so we returned within half a year. I was delighted to meet the staff member who assisted us last time and receive their kind words once more. The meals featured new seasonal menus, and the Anniversary Plan celebration brought joy to my grandmother, making me truly happy. I sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart. P.S. Before breakfast at 8:30 AM, we visited Chichibu Shrine. It took less than 30 minutes for a round trip, so I highly recommend it for those planning a refreshing morning visit!

Time Travel Experience
Stayed at 103 (MARUJU Building) The bedroom and living room felt like stepping back in time, just as shown on the website, which made us very excited! While preserving the charm of this historic building, the newly installed cypress bath and toilet were spotless, even for someone like me who is a bit of a clean freak—no issues at all! Dinner and breakfast featured unique dishes that can only be enjoyed here. The adorable tableware added to the excitement, making it a feast for both the taste buds and eyes! The mini-bar offered a wide variety of free options, making it stress-free to enjoy after bathing or before bed. From check-in to check-out, the staff's excellent service made this stay truly satisfying!

The Perfect Honeymoon!
We stayed at NIPPONIA Chichibu Monzen for our pre-wedding photoshoot. As fans of traditional architecture, historic buildings, and cultural heritage sites, we were thrilled the moment we stepped onto the property. It was a rare and special experience to not only admire such a building but also stay and spend time in it. The room itself was spacious, beautifully renovated, and impeccably clean, making our stay extremely comfortable. Although the bathroom in our room was not an onsen, it featured a large hinoki cypress tub with a wonderful aroma that provided an onsen-like experience. Next to the bath was a relaxing space where we enjoyed beer after bathing—a truly delightful moment. The layout of our room—with separate bedroom and living areas—was another highlight. Unlike typical ryokan accommodations where you might have to be mindful of noise or light if your companion goes to bed early, here we could enjoy drinks and quiet moments without worry. Surprisingly, even as someone who usually needs TV for comfort, I didn’t miss it at all during this stay. Dinner was served as a course meal with stunning presentation; even the tableware added to its beauty. Though I initially expected game meat dishes might have strong flavors or aromas, they were perfectly prepared and absolutely delicious! Breakfast featured Japanese cuisine centered around perfectly seasoned grilled fish that made me feel grateful to be Japanese. We also invited both sets of parents for dinner during our photoshoot session—a memory we'll cherish forever. Since dining is available without staying overnight as well, this place is perfect for celebrating anniversaries or spending special moments with family. The staff’s thoughtful hospitality truly enhanced our experience on such an important day—we are deeply grateful for their care in making it unforgettable. Each room has its own unique atmosphere and design; this makes us eager to return someday to try other rooms too! We even joked about wanting to "stay in every single one" before leaving. This accommodation is highly recommended both for special occasions or simply enjoying quiet luxury at its finest.

Rediscover Chichibu!
This was my first time staying in Chichibu City! I chose this hotel because it is a renovated traditional Japanese house, and I was intrigued. Upon staying, I found the entrance, interior walls, and ceiling preserved from the past to be absolutely charming! Despite its age, the atmosphere was wonderful, everything felt clean, and the room was spacious enough. The hinoki cypress bath filled the air with its fragrance as soon as I opened the door. It was so spacious and deep that it felt almost too luxurious for one person to enjoy alone. The amenities were also well-prepared and very helpful. The meals featured locally sourced ingredients that were visually delightful and tasted amazing! The timing of each dish's serving was perfect—not too fast or slow—allowing me to fully enjoy every bite. The beautiful tableware enhanced each dish wonderfully. Additionally, the staff who served us provided excellent explanations about each dish; I've never enjoyed a meal while referring to a menu like this before—it made for such a unique experience! Time flew by so quickly during my stay here. Thank you very much! If given another opportunity, I would love to stay at this accommodation again—and try out other rooms (or buildings) as well!

Room 101, 1 night
The Room was closest to the entrance and dining area. There were no clocks or TVs, which was a bit disorienting at first, but it allowed us to enjoy meaningful conversations and spend a relaxing time. The Room had a stylish Japanese-modern design, and the meals were delicious, featuring dishes made with plenty of locally sourced ingredients. During dinner, my husband sat at a table with his back to the main street. Behind his chair was a partition placed to block the view from passersby on the street. At the neighboring table, there was another partition decorated with gold leaf and peony flowers. Since I sat across from him, I could see part of my husband's partition throughout our meal. The partition had an antique feel to it; upon closer inspection, I found it quite surprising and slightly unsettling for dining. The hinoki cypress bath emitted a faint aroma of cypress when filled with water, providing a soothing experience. However, it takes about 30-40 minutes for the bath to fill up completely. As there is no lid for the bath, you may need to partially drain or refill it with fresh water before using it again. The property is conveniently located near Chichibu Shrine. Breakfast was also very delicious!

The Kura was amazing!
This was my second stay. The location is very convenient, close to two stations, Chichibu Shrine, the Festival Hall, Banba Street, and convenience stores. This time I stayed in the Kura room, which was excellent. Although there were strong winds and outside noises could be heard, it added to the charm of staying in a traditional house. The heating included an air conditioner and two fan heaters, so it was warm enough to relax in just a yukata. I fully utilized the amenities provided and found them great. I was informed that it would take 40 minutes to prepare the bath, so I timed it accordingly and enjoyed a relaxing soak with the pleasant scent of cypress wood. The refrigerator had plenty of drinks and tea available, which made me happy. The tea was truly delicious—I even asked staff about it so I could purchase some to take home! The bed was large and very comfortable for sleeping. Since I usually have a TV on at all times at home, I wondered how I'd feel without one here; however, playing music on my smartphone while enjoying card games like Trump or UNO after such a long time made for an extraordinary experience away from daily life. The meals were exceptional—featuring local ingredients with miso incorporated into high-quality dishes that felt luxurious! The venison meat was tender and absolutely delicious. Each dish arrived at perfect timing so we could enjoy everything hot and fresh—the water served alongside also tasted wonderful. For breakfast this time around (compared with last), instead of many small side dishes as before—we had large portions featuring rainbow trout as main accompaniment—it too turned out fantastic! Refilling both miso soup & rice left us completely satisfied overall during morning dining hours! If possible despite busy schedules involved behind-the-scenes operations running smoothly throughout stays alike mine personally speaking here now today still though perhaps meeting chef directly expressing gratitude face-to-face someday might become reality eventually hopefully soon maybe? Lastly regarding compact layout design inside Kura Room itself specifically mentioned earlier already above elsewhere previously written down noted shared thoughts feelings impressions opinions Although the building is old, the design ensures that rooms are not directly above, below, or next to each other, so noise was not an issue. The room we stayed in was located above a restaurant, which made us feel at ease as we didn’t have to worry too much about our footsteps. The bath was a large hinoki cypress bath, and the soothing scent of hinoki was very relaxing. Dinner was a course meal that took about 2 hours to enjoy. It was a luxurious experience savoring carefully prepared dishes at a leisurely pace. While it’s located a bit far from the station, there is a convenience store nearby which made it convenient. All the staff were very pleasant and welcoming.

A Charming Traditional Japanese Hotel in Chichibu
I stayed at a traditional Japanese-style accommodation for the first time, which I had been interested in for a while. Although I was hesitant, worrying about musty smells or insects, my husband’s words, “That won’t happen,” encouraged me to choose this accommodation. We were warmly welcomed by the smiling staff and learned about the building's history before entering our room. My concerns quickly disappeared as soon as we stepped inside. The room was very clean with a faint pleasant scent of wood. The original pillars and walls from when it was built were well-preserved, creating a beautiful space. The water facilities had been renovated with modern equipment, providing great comfort and reassurance. We stayed in Room 104, which was so spacious that it felt almost too luxurious for just two people to use! Despite the wooden floors in the bedroom and hallway, we could walk barefoot even in late November—thanks not to floor heating but to thoughtful preparation by the hotel staff who pre-warmed the room beforehand. The bathroom featured an oversized cypress bathtub where my husband (179cm tall) could stretch out completely and enjoy his bath—a detail he greatly appreciated! Surrounded by the soothing aroma of cypress wood, soaking in soft-feeling water left us warm long after bathing as if we had visited an onsen. The amenities were also of higher quality than those typically found at hotels, adding to our satisfaction. Additionally, having complimentary drinks—including alcoholic beverages—in the refrigerator was an excellent service that earned extra points from us. It seems they put effort into sourcing ingredients locally from Chichibu—a detail we found admirable! Dinner included dishes featuring miso on every plate; not only did we savor their deliciousness but also enjoyed discovering where miso might be hidden within each dish during our meal! The venison steak stood out especially—it was tender without any gamey taste and absolutely delightful alongside sake that paired perfectly. Breakfast showcased carefully prepared dishes using Chichibu ingredients again—purely Japanese-style cuisine fitting perfectly with this traditional setting. The staff provided impeccable service throughout our stay; everything contributed towards making it comfortable and enjoyable—thank you very much! From our room window stood another intriguing warehouse-style building visible outside; next time around we've decided firmly upon staying there instead when returning someday soon… Please welcome us back again warmly then too!

You can enjoy a relaxing and luxurious time.
I recently stayed at my dream accommodation, Nipponia Chichibu. The room retained the warmth and charm unique to traditional Japanese houses, offering a truly delightful atmosphere. The bath had a wonderful aroma of cypress, with a spacious and comfortable tub. Additionally, the toilet and washroom were well-heated, so it wasn’t cold even at night. The refrigerator in the room was stocked with plenty of water and tea, all complimentary, which was a pleasant surprise. Both breakfast and dinner featured dishes made with local Chichibu ingredients that highlighted their natural flavors—everything was absolutely delicious. All the dishes incorporated Chichibu miso as an ingredient. The presentation was beautiful, perfectly paired with local Chichibu sake! Although my stay felt too short, I look forward to staying again with another plan next time!

A relaxing stay in a charming space with local flavors
Thank you for choosing "NIPPONIA Chichibu Monzenmachi" for your family trip. Staying on a weekday allowed us to cherish a relaxing time, which was truly delightful. The excellent location right in front of Chichibu Shrine minimized the stress of walking and transportation, enhancing our overall satisfaction with the trip. The meals, carefully prepared using local ingredients, offered a luxurious taste of the region's flavors. Additionally, the building's design harmoniously combined modern comfort with historical charm, leaving both parent and child feeling grateful for choosing this accommodation. It was an experience that made us want to visit again!

A Heartwarming First Trip with Our Baby, Thanks to the Kindness of the Staff
We stayed here for our first trip with our newborn baby, who was just one month old. Although we were a bit anxious about staying with a baby, the staff were incredibly kind and attentive from check-in to check-out, which made us feel at ease. The room was spacious, clean, and full of historical charm. The tatami flooring was perfect for laying down our baby comfortably. The bathroom was also clean with easy temperature control, allowing us to take turns enjoying a relaxing bath as a couple. Dinner featured creative dishes made with local ingredients; both the taste and presentation were exceptional, letting us enjoy a peaceful meal together after a long time. The quiet surroundings and warm hospitality provided much-needed relaxation and refreshment. This accommodation is truly memorable and ideal for families traveling with babies—it allowed us to stay worry-free while creating wonderful memories!

An auberge you’ll want to visit in every season
It was a wonderful stay that let us discover the charm of Chichibu through the Hotel. Because the building is a renovated historic property, the guest room atmosphere was also lovely. The meals were especially outstanding, and the on-site “Restaurant MARUJU” was a place I’d want to return to each season. It’s also available for dining only, so I highly recommend it when visiting Chichibu. With a focus on local production for local consumption, they not only use unique local specialties you don’t often see elsewhere, but also incorporate thoughtful touches in every detail—such as sauces based on locally made miso and French-style dishes served on leaves like hoba-yaki. I forgot to take photos, but breakfast was served Japanese-style with so many dishes they barely fit on the table. I was extremely satisfied. There was even a large grilled fish dish—perfect for someone like me who likes to eat well in the morning.

A high-quality accommodation for a special time
Recently, my family and I stayed at this accommodation. The first thing that left an impression was the pleasant aroma throughout the entire building. Not only the scent of the hinoki bath but also a natural wooden fragrance filled the space, as if high-quality aromatherapy was being used. My wife even asked, "Are you burning aroma?" It was a stay that soothed all our senses. The meals were absolutely wonderful, featuring an abundance of Chichibu's mountain delicacies. Each dish reflected the blessings of the land and the changing seasons, making us truly appreciate Chichibu's richness once again. During dinner, when our child started crying a little, one of your staff kindly offered to hold them with a warm "Shall I carry them for you?" This thoughtful gesture was incredibly comforting to us. We are deeply grateful for your attentive care and warm hospitality. The fragrance, ambiance, cuisine, and warmth of people—everything harmonized perfectly to create such a special experience for us. We would love to visit again in another season!

Excited about my first stay at a traditional Japanese-style Hotel!
My mother and I, both lovers of travel and Onsen, stayed at a luxurious traditional Japanese-style accommodation for the first time. We stayed in Room 203 of the KOIKE・MIYATANI building, which is popular among women. After completing a warm and detailed check-in at the MARUJU building, we walked 5 minutes to the KOIKE・MIYATANI building. Upon entering Room 203, we were amazed and even moved by the atmosphere. The room, designated as a registered tangible cultural property, retained its original charm with traditional ceilings and fittings, evoking the Taisho Romantic era. Despite its age, the room was impeccably clean, and the amenities and drink services were excellent. There was no TV in the room, but this actually encouraged us to have meaningful conversations, making it a truly special time. Although we were initially concerned about the lack of an Onsen, the hinoki cypress bath was just as wonderful. The soothing aroma of hinoki greeted us as we entered the bathroom. While it was hard to tell from the photos on the website, the bath was spacious and deep enough to stretch out and relax, providing an incredibly comfortable experience. Dinner was a full-course creative cuisine made with local ingredients. Each dish was accompanied by a detailed explanation from the staff, offering a level of service comparable to a high-end restaurant. Every dish was absolutely delicious, and the pairing with drinks made for a delightful dining experience. This was our first time staying at a traditional Japanese-style accommodation, which is the complete opposite of modern Resort Hotels or City Hotels. The nostalgic atmosphere and the charm of the historic room provided a unique and relaxing experience for our mother-daughter trip. The staff's exceptional hospitality also left a lasting impression. We have become big fans of NIPPONIA Chichibu Monzenmachi and look forward to staying in the MARUJU building next time!

"Extraordinary Experiences at 'Chikainaka Chichibu'"
Chichibu is usually a day trip for us, but this time we decided to stay overnight. We chose this accommodation because it utilizes historical buildings, which had always intrigued us. We stayed in Room 103 of the MARUJU building, which is repurposed from an old storehouse. Although we were slightly concerned about the chilliness due to the traditional structure, the interior was beautifully renovated, allowing us to enjoy a comfortable stay. The dinner featuring Chichibu specialties like game meat and miso was delightful, and the rice served at breakfast was equally delicious. Above all, the spacious hinoki cypress bath where we could stretch out completely was exceptional. After dinner, we visited "Highlander Inn," and early the next morning, we strolled over to Chichibu Shrine for a peaceful visit. Staying overnight allowed us to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and enjoy a truly relaxing experience.

Enjoy exquisite French cuisine made with local ingredients and relax in a spacious cypress bath!
I stayed for one night at the MARUJU building. The location was about a 15-minute walk from Seibu Chichibu Station. While it felt a bit far from the station, walking along Banba Street allowed me to enjoy its retro atmosphere with many intriguing shops! Chichibu Shrine was also nearby, and the walk to the hotel offered a charming glimpse into Chichibu's nostalgic vibe. Being centrally located in Chichibu, it was very convenient for sightseeing trips to places like Mitsumine Shrine and Nagatoro. The interior of the accommodation was beautifully clean while still retaining a sense of history. The highlight was definitely the large hinoki cypress bath! Soaking in the spacious tub surrounded by the soothing scent of hinoki wood was absolutely amazing! After bathing, I enjoyed sipping on locally crafted Chichibu cola provided in my room—it felt heavenly. Dinner featured French cuisine made with local ingredients, and every dish was delicious. The venison steak stood out as exceptionally tender—100 times softer than I had imagined! If you think venison is tough, you must try this—it will change your mind completely! Breakfast included grilled local rainbow trout and other dishes that allowed me to savor Chichibu's flavors fully. This accommodation offers an extraordinary experience where you can feel Chichibu's history and culture. I left completely satisfied—it's worth spending a little extra money for such an unforgettable stay!

Completely satisfied for the second time!
When visiting Chichibu, day trips are common, but this time I stayed overnight for the first time in a while. This was my second stay at NIPPONIA Accommodation. As it is a traditional Japanese house-style hotel, you are told the story of your room during check-in. They also provide a map of nearby shops, which is great for those who want to explore the town. Books and guidebooks about Chichibu were available in the room as well. However, since the explanation of the room's story was only given at check-in, it might be nice to have written materials about it in the room too. The room I stayed in this time used to be a warehouse. It had high ceilings and cozy lighting. The bathroom was made of cypress wood with a pleasant aroma of cypress. I was surprised but grateful that drinks in the room were complimentary. Without a TV, you can enjoy reading guidebooks or sipping on drinks for a relaxing stay. Dinner had elements of creative Italian or French cuisine. This time, miso appeared in various forms throughout dinner, which was interesting; and as for the main dish—venison—it had no gamey taste and paired wonderfully with mushrooms and miso sauce on the side—it was delicious! Local ingredients were used throughout, leaving a good impression; plus, portion sizes were just right. It would have been even better if draft beer had been included on the drink menu. The bed was spacious and allowed me to rest well at night. The skylight let natural morning light stream in beautifully. Next time, I'd like to try staying in another room!

It was an extraordinary and precious experience.
- A Room where you can relax while reminiscing about the time spent at grandma's house during summer vacation! - The large cypress bathtub was absolutely amazing! - A delicious breakfast with plenty of small dishes, grilled fish, and white rice that gives you energy to say, "Let's do our best today!" It made me wish I could have such a breakfast every day!
