    A Relaxing Accommodation

    We arrived close to the check-in deadline and apologize for any concern we may have caused. The upgraded Room was outstanding, and both the open-air bath and the view from it were amazing. The service was also smooth and professional. The lockers at the Onsen were thoughtfully designed, very easy to use, and completely stress-free. We stayed to celebrate our son’s graduation and enjoyed the best relaxation. More than anything, we regret that we couldn’t arrive early enough to make full use of the facilities.

    My Son’s Graduation Trip

    We stayed for two nights and three days as a family of three for our son’s elementary school graduation trip. From the moment we entered, we were welcomed by the scent of hinoki cypress and a chic, spotless space. The Room was compact, yet very comfortable even for a two-night stay. The Onsen is available from 5:00 a.m., and the large open-air bath surrounded by the mountains of Hakone was deeply relaxing both physically and mentally. The sauna was also kept at temperature in the morning, allowing us to start each day feeling refreshed. For dinner on our second night, we were provided with a private dining room, where we enjoyed delicious food while spending quality time together as a family. Surrounded by staff who were smiling throughout our stay, it was an extremely pleasant three days. I believe it became a wonderful memory that will stay with our son as well. We would love to stay again if we have the opportunity. Thank you very much for taking such good care of us.

    I was satisfied.

    My sister and I visited Hakone for the first time in three years. We chose this Hotel planning to relax, soak in the Onsen, and enjoy good food—and we truly had a restful stay. The Room was spotless, the Onsen water felt wonderfully soft, the meals were delicious, and despite the number of Rooms, we rarely ran into other guests. Perhaps it’s thanks to the layout and design of the buildings. We stayed on the second floor in a Room with an open-air bath, but it felt a little far from both the restaurant and the large public baths. Each of the two large public bath areas has multiple indoor baths as well as several open-air baths, so we were able to enjoy different tubs both at night and in the morning. It was a day when there was still snow along parts of the old Hakone Tokaido trail and mountain roadsides, but all of the baths were kept at a comfortable temperature in the 41°C range. The last time I stayed overnight in Hakone, I chose an Accommodation with great Reviews as well, but ended up disappointed for various reasons—and on top of that I got worn out by traffic jams and crowds around Yumoto. This time, choosing Sengokuhara for our Accommodation (and sightseeing nearby) was absolutely the right decision. There were several daisugi cedars planted near the Hotel entrance and in its courtyard—trees you rarely see even in Japanese gardens these days—and together with elements like artwork throughout the building, it created a pleasantly Japanese atmosphere that left me with a very positive impression.

    The Hotel staff were kind, but...

    The Room was cleaned to an ordinary standard. As this is a relatively new Hotel, it was clean, but unfortunately the layout is inconvenient, and by the time you return to your Room after going to the large public bath, you end up getting chilled. Preferences may vary, but the bed was hard and the pillows were stiff and scratchy, so I couldn’t sleep. Breakfast was fairly good, but dinner was disappointing. The bed may be difficult to change, but I would like them to provide at least one softer pillow. The Hotel staff were all very kind. I probably wouldn’t stay again...

    Great location!

    Great location! Convenient for getting anywhere in Hakone. The bath is clean, and there’s also a sauna—great! However, the Onsen temperature is too high at 43°C. You can’t soak and relax for long. The food is well-seasoned, but both the variety and portion size are lacking. The location is great, the Facility is good, and the service is good, but the most important parts—the Onsen and the meals—are disappointing.

    A Better Stay Than Expected

    Until now, for a stay focused on Onsen and fine dining, I had almost always visited Izu (with Gora as the one exception). This time, thinking Hakone must have many wonderful places as well, I decided to go beyond Gora for the first time and visit Sengokuhara. As a result, it was truly a pleasant and wonderful stay. Compared with Izu or Ito, Hakone is generally considered to be in a different league—and quite expensive. Although I had assumed (on my own) that ratings might be somewhat lenient because pets are allowed, we decided to visit because the price was very reasonable and the reviews were excellent. Not only is the property relatively new, but its parent company specializes in traditional Japanese architecture, so everything was beautifully done—the entrance gate in particular was impressive. Everyone welcomed us with smiles, and at check-in in the lobby we were offered welcome drinks and delicious savory cookies, which immediately lifted our spirits. The Room was compact but had everything we needed. Drinks included bottled water, Japanese green tea and roasted green tea (hojicha), Nespresso coffee, plus tasty rice crackers and rusks in the Room—truly thoughtful hospitality. We entered our Room shortly after 3:00 p.m., and when we were told that the large public bath might be private at that time, we went right away. The spacious Onsen bath was indeed empty—we were the first ones there—and it felt wonderfully luxurious. Throughout the building there are paintings and calligraphy displayed everywhere—probably more than 200 pieces—making it feel like an art museum. There was also a lovely tile artwork by that artist in the open-air bath. There were indoor baths, open-air baths, pot baths (tsubo-buro), and milky-white water reminiscent of an Onsen created using steam from Owakudani. Because you can enjoy both a rock bath and a hinoki cypress bath by alternating between night and morning sessions, we enjoyed it more than enough even without an open-air-bath Room. The garden also featured Kitayama cedar (daisugi), which delighted me—I never expected to see it outside Kyoto. Some guests mentioned that dinner portions were small; however, since refills of rice and miso soup are available, it was plenty for us. Above all else, everything tasted excellent—especially the chawanmushi (savory egg custard) and clear soup. Perhaps thanks to feedback from guests who stayed soon after opening, not only have small details such as call bells been thoughtfully addressed; we also received truly attentive hospitality from Y-san who assisted us throughout our meal service. It made for a deliciously enjoyable dining experience. Thank you very much for taking such great care of us. We would love to return again.

    It is a good Hotel.

    I stayed for one night in a room with an open-air bath. Upon entering the room, there was a faint scent of cypress, and it was clean, bright, and more spacious than expected. The exterior was also wonderful, and it was incredibly quiet—something I truly appreciated. The amenities were well-equipped, making me feel that even staying for one or two more nights would have been satisfying. The location is convenient with a convenience store and bus stop right in front. Meals were served in a semi-private space with partitions between tables, creating an atmosphere similar to private dining rooms. The menu was satisfying; while the portion size felt just right for me personally, some might find it on the smaller side. The large public bath was not crowded—perhaps due to the season—and I almost had it all to myself. It was clean with a sauna available; however, I found the water slightly lukewarm. In conclusion, this is definitely a place I'd like to visit again and can recommend to anyone!

    Enjoy Hakone Onsen

    Due to an issue with my reservation, I was unable to complete the online reservation successfully. However, thanks to your thoughtful arrangement of securing a room and recommending a nearby dog-friendly accommodation, I was able to enjoy a trip to Hakone with my canine companion. The private open-air onsen in the room was incredibly refreshing, with perfect water temperature, allowing me to fully enjoy Hakone's onsen while admiring the autumn leaves after such a long time.     It was a very nice accommodation. However, there was no size of the indoor wear that fit me, and as I am slim, the pants kept slipping down, which made it difficult when going to the bath.

    Travel with Your Beloved Dog

    The large public bath is amazing! The variety of Onsen, spaciousness, saunas (available for both men and women), cold baths—everything was perfect. It was the best large public bath among the accommodations I have visited in recent years. The meals were also excellent, with thoughtful consideration for children's preferences, leaving us very satisfied. To continue using this accommodation in the future, I would like to suggest a few improvements: - Please consider creating larger pet-friendly rooms. - It would be great to have dining areas where pets are allowed with carts. - The flooring is very slippery; it would be appreciated if this could be improved. Overall, we were extremely satisfied as guests. Thank you very much!

    A Parade of Crabs.

    The accommodation was very clean and pleasant. As mentioned in the reviews, our room was upgraded, and we stayed in the Shikisai room with an open-air bath. The room was very clean, and the bed was extremely comfortable. This time, we had the crab kaiseki meal, but it felt a bit lacking in volume for us. Next time, we plan to choose the standard kaiseki meal instead. The food was delicious overall. It would be nice if the brush provided in the room were of better quality.

    A serene accommodation with autumn foliage.

    We had a comfortable stay with our dog. We fully enjoyed the Onsen and the meals. It would have been nice if we could bring our dog in a buggy to enjoy the meal together in the private dining room.

    Excellent Hospitality

    It was a flawless accommodation. We arrived quite early and were considering leaving our luggage to visit the pampas grass fields of Sengokuhara, but they kindly proceeded with the check-in process and allowed us to access our room immediately. Thank you very much. The staff who guided us to the room provided detailed explanations, which made us feel at ease during our stay. The room was clean, functional, and very comfortable. The highlight was undoubtedly the quality of the meals—both dinner and breakfast were exceptional. The children's menu was thoughtfully tailored to their age, and they almost finished everything. With "Chōanji Temple" and "Sengokuhara" nearby, I believe this location is perfect for enjoying autumn foliage. I would love to visit again. Thank you!

    Perfect, the best accommodation

    It was our first visit to Hakone in a while, and the accommodation was excellent in both cuisine and service. The shuttle service accommodated some minor requests, which made the rest of our trip go smoothly and was very helpful. We were also upgraded, which made my family extremely happy.     We recently stayed at your accommodation to celebrate my husband's birthday in advance, and we were truly grateful for the wonderful experience. When we requested the shuttle service from Gora Station, I mentioned the birthday celebration, and you kindly arranged a beautifully customized dessert during dinner that deeply moved both of us. The dinner and breakfast were exceptionally delicious, and we enjoyed a relaxing time in the large public bath without any crowding. Additionally, staying in a room with an open-air Onsen allowed us to indulge in ultimate luxury right within our private space. The amenities and tableware used throughout the hotel and rooms were of high quality, and your hospitality was impeccable—truly befitting a first-class hotel. Your consistently courteous service left us feeling humbled yet incredibly welcomed. This stay gave me motivation to work hard again, as well as a strong desire to return someday.     Highly satisfied.

    The meals, facility, and service were excellent. The room was absolutely fantastic. Additionally, the temperature of the Onsen water was just right and very relaxing. Although I initially thought it was unusual for a luxury Ryokan to require guests to park their own cars, the parking lot being located right next to the Ryokan entrance made it convenient and not an issue at all. One small suggestion: it would be even better if towels were provided in the large public bath so that guests wouldn't need to bring them from their rooms.

    <Room> I stayed in a room with an open-air Onsen for one night. It was my first visit, but the entire facility, including the room, was impeccably clean, allowing me to relax throughout my stay. The private open-air Onsen in the room was made of cypress wood, providing a warm and inviting atmosphere. Despite the chilly weather, the water temperature was always perfect, and I enjoyed it multiple times. <Service> Most of the staff were male, but their greetings and service were polite and exceptional. Additionally, they provided special arrangements for dinner this time, which made me very satisfied. <Onsen> The large public bath featured various types of baths such as cypress and rock baths. In the open-air bath area, I could enjoy views of a garden along with tile art depicting pampas grass and Mount Fuji while soaking leisurely. Moreover, complimentary ice cream was available in front of the large public bath area—a delightful touch! <Facility> The building is new and beautifully maintained; I enjoyed admiring paintings and ornaments as well as strolling through the garden outside my room. The parquetry design on the elevator doors was particularly charming. <Dining> Not only was dinner delicious but also served at just the right timing with exquisite tableware that enhanced both presentation and taste—truly a feast for both eyes and palate! Although this stay was only for one night this time around, I look forward to visiting again for a Multiple Night Stay next time! Thank you for such a wonderful day!

    Healing Accommodation

    Thank you for the room upgrade, including the open-air bath and the anniversary dessert plate service. Both the room and bath were wonderful, allowing us to relax and unwind. If I may say, the upgraded meal plan felt slightly lacking in comparison. We had a quiet and pleasant time. This is an accommodation we would love to visit again someday.

    It was a highly satisfying stay.

    The room, onsen, and meals were all exceptional, making for a truly satisfying stay. It's rare to find an accommodation where everything is perfect, but this was definitely a place I would love to visit again. The staff were incredibly pleasant, and their hospitality was outstanding. It was the season for pampas grass, and being able to explore nearby attractions on foot from the accommodation was a great bonus.     I stayed here for a solo trip around the end of September. I was able to relax and unwind in a quiet and serene atmosphere. The staff's polite and warm hospitality was impressive, and since it was a weekday stay, I was thrilled to be upgraded to a room with an open-air bath. The room and the entire accommodation were clean, fully equipped with everything needed, and very comfortable. The mountain view from the window was also beautiful. The creative Japanese dinner course was delicious, and the presentation was enjoyable. On the first day, I felt the portion was a bit large, but after consulting with the staff, they adjusted it for the next day, which was a thoughtful gesture that made me very happy. Since I stayed for two nights, I had both Japanese and Western-style breakfasts, and both were highly satisfying. The open-air bath offered a view of the mountains, providing a liberating and soothing experience. At night, there were some insects, but I felt it was part of the charm of being in nature. It was such a wonderful ryokan that I would love to visit again in a different season. Thank you very much.

    It was a wonderful stay! Attention to detail truly stood out.

    It was truly a wonderful hotel where it was hard to find any flaws after such a long time. What I particularly appreciated was the design of the Japanese-style room. The bedding and chairs were more than 30 cm above the floor, reducing strain on the knees and allowing for comfortable relaxation without sitting in traditional postures like seiza or cross-legged. This makes it very accommodating for elderly guests as well. Additionally, despite being a Japanese-style room, the cleanliness allowed us to walk barefoot comfortably, which felt much more liberating and pleasant compared to wearing slippers in Western-style rooms. I was also impressed by the thoughtful details such as providing yukata-like loungewear along with zori sandals and even socks specifically for wearing with them. These small touches truly reflected their spirit of hospitality. If I had one wish, it would be to enjoy breakfast at a bright table with an outdoor view—then it would be 120 points out of 100! This became an unforgettable accommodation that I can confidently recommend to my friends.

    Accommodation with dogs. There were many male staff members, but their attention to the dogs and overall service was excellent, allowing for a relaxing stay. The well-balanced Japanese meals and spacious bath were very good. For two small dogs, the "Western-style twin room" felt a bit small.

    It was an excellent accommodation that exceeded expectations.

    We stayed at this accommodation for our family summer vacation. After researching various accommodations, we chose this one as it is relatively new and has high review ratings. From the warm welcome at the entrance, the choice of beer for the welcome drink, to the staff's professional service in suits, everything was impressive. The room was clean, and the open-air cypress bath had excellent water quality with a stunning view of Hakone's outer mountains. We enjoyed soaking in the bath multiple times during our stay. The dining experience was exceptional not only for its delicious cuisine but also for the outstanding hospitality of the serving staff. This was one of the top-class experiences among all accommodations I have stayed at so far. Next time, we would love to visit again with our family during a different season.     We were upgraded to a Room with an open-air bath since it was available, and we were also taken to the fireworks festival at Lake Ashi. The service was attentive, and the food was very delicious. The only issue was the poor internet connection in the Room, as we couldn't connect to the internet there.

    We stayed in a pet-friendly room. We were upgraded due to availability, allowing us to relax with our elderly dog in the room, for which we are very grateful. While Tokyo was experiencing extreme heat every day, Sengokuhara lived up to the hotel's name with its refreshing breeze. Watching our beloved dog enjoy the wind and gaze at the garden view from the balcony was heartwarming and created wonderful memories for us. The large public bath was clean, offered various types of baths, and wasn’t crowded, allowing us to soak in comfort. My husband especially enjoyed the vinegar drink after bathing. As mentioned in reviews, the staff's hospitality was excellent, making our stay very pleasant. Thank you very much!
