    Conceptual Hotel

    It was a Hotel with a strong sense of attention to detail. The surrounding rice fields felt like part of the garden, blending seamlessly. The Room was far from the bath, and I would have appreciated having towels available at the bathing area, so I deducted a few stars. Other than that, the breakfast was very delicious, and it was a comfortable stay.

    It was very relaxing. Highly recommended.

    Surrounded by green rice fields, it was a beautiful season for lotus flowers. While soaking in the open-air bath, we could watch flocks of birds returning to their nests one after another. The meals were well-balanced and absolutely delicious, and we loved the menu selection—completely satisfying. After returning home, I recommended it to everyone I met. Renting bicycles from the Hotel provided just the right distance for cycling. Thank you very much!

    Rice Fields, Sauna, and Vegetables

    Shonai's vegetables and fish are amazing—a treasure trove of ingredients. Surrounded by rice fields, enjoying the sauna is the best. Although the Onsen was far like a maze, exploring the library while getting lost was still enjoyable.

    Very satisfied.

    I was very satisfied with my stay at the Hotel I had always wanted to visit. The view of the green rice fields and shimmering water was wonderful, and the bath was excellent. I enjoyed reading a book in the high-ceilinged lobby and borrowing a bicycle to explore Tsuruoka city. My two-night stay was fulfilling. The guest room wasn't luxurious but simple, practical, and easy to use. At night, there was a chorus of frogs, reminding me that the Hotel is located right in the middle of rice fields. Also, breakfast was fantastic. One small issue: it seemed that some operations differed from what was indicated on the website or other guides—for example, the restaurant not offering continuous service (I thought it would be open during café hours but ended up being asked to leave due to timing) or the bath not being ready even after its opening time. It would be helpful if these details were updated in advance for better guidance.

    Stylish Hotel

    We stayed for one night as a family. Although it was crowded due to Golden Week, the hotel staff were very kind. As the hotel is famous for its stylish design, we had high expectations. It was indeed stylish, but there were several concerns regarding amenities and the bath facilities (e.g., too few amenities, not enough towels which was inconvenient, and drainage issues in the shower area of the bathhouse). Perhaps because we have stayed at other accommodations with better overall experiences, this hotel felt overly focused on design. However, we were very satisfied with the breakfast buffet featuring dishes made with plenty of local vegetables.

    I have used this Hot...

    I have used this Hotel several times for travel purposes. Since there are few dining options nearby, I always have breakfast here, but for a Multiple Night Stay, the menu remains the same. Although it is not a Business Hotel, it would be nice if there were 2-3 variations in dishes, such as changing the type of fish. Of course, the taste is very delicious. The facility has been updated with modern touches like QR code guides within the premises, which may be standard these days but show continuous improvement. However, when using Online Credit Card Payment, nothing tangible remains to create memories of the trip. While it may seem analogical, having something small as a keepsake would make me happy.

    The breakfast was delicious.

    The breakfast was delicious (so important that it deserves to be mentioned again). Perhaps due to the season, asparagus and mushrooms were served at the morning buffet... It was simply outstanding. I couldn't help but go back for seconds multiple times. Asparagus and mushrooms with olive oil, black pepper, balsamic vinegar, and vegetable salt. Add a soft-boiled Onsen egg on top, and it's perfect as is or even better as a rice bowl... I almost found myself reaching for wine in the morning...

    Please consider improving accessibility measures.

    We stayed in a barrier-free Room for a Multiple Night Stay of 2 nights. The first night was without dinner, and the second night included dinner. However, the dinner portions were smaller than expected, and my companion seemed unsatisfied, repeatedly asking for more bread. It would have been nice if rice was available. Although it was a barrier-free Room, apart from having handrails in the bathroom, it didn’t feel particularly accessible. I also thought an additional chair in the room would be helpful (as sofas are inconvenient to get up from and make the room feel cramped). The breakfast was buffet-style; however, for those with severe disabilities who cannot serve themselves, it would be great if there were assistance services available. While I am now able to go to the buffet myself after recovering somewhat, I imagine that those with physical limitations might hesitate to do so. During dinner service, staff kindly brought food over based on their judgment; however, it would have been better if they could accompany us so we could choose together. The breakfast buffet offered a variety of vegetables and other options which were very satisfying; however, I was disappointed that it remained almost identical on both days of our stay. For guests staying multiple nights like us, offering different options across days would be appreciated. In the bathroom area only low chairs were provided—having taller chairs with backrests designed for caregiving purposes would be very helpful as well as convenient when assisting someone else during bathing activities since this is supposed to cater towards accessibility needs within such rooms! Additionally having many steps leading into baths proves inconvenient too - last time around we had no choice but skip using them altogether due these obstacles present therein! Regarding humidifiers inside Rooms: noticed late second day setup manually myself instead visible placement upfront would've helped avoid oversight earlier-on likewise closet towel racks falling apart frequently causing trouble unclear purpose behind design functionality overall though quiet surroundings scenic views made relaxing experience possible amidst wooden interiors adding calming touch throughout stay!

    I would like to have a Multiple Night Stay next time.

    Although it was not the season for rice fields, it turned out to be a stay where we could feel the charm of winter. The room with a terrace without a view was very nice. The library's level of completeness is amazing. Not only the number of books and the wide range of genres but also the excellence of the reading space was at a level I had never experienced in any hotel I stayed at before. Also, each bath—indoor, open-air, and sauna—has its own appeal, and since they switch between men and women daily, you can enjoy different baths in the evening and morning during one night stay. The library and baths are such great spaces that one night is not enough to fully enjoy them; it's a place where you'd want to have multiple night stays (preferably long-term) to savor everything. We stayed with a plan that included only breakfast, but at check-in, we were informed that there was some availability for dinner reservations on the day itself. Breakfast used plenty of local ingredients with various local dishes available; it was very delicious. Having three types of rice available truly reflects Shonai region's specialty. We heard there were group guests on the same day making it crowded, but perhaps due to room layout or spacious design, we didn't feel any congestion at all; instead enjoyed quiet and relaxing time which left us completely satisfied.

    I had been curious a...

    I had been curious about this Hotel for a long time, so I visited with excitement, and the stay experience far exceeded my expectations! The food was delicious, and I was very satisfied with the drinks at the counter seat! Also, the interior design and the personal book corner were a happy space, so I hope to stay again!

    Check-in Meal

    The check-in was handled by two inexperienced staff members, which took a considerable amount of time. When we were finally called, there were no basic courtesies like "Thank you for waiting," which gave the impression that they were overwhelmed. It seemed unnecessary to have us scan a QR code, whether it was according to the manual or not. This was our oversight, but we had the impression that we could have a light meal within the premises even without a restaurant reservation. However, we were told that we couldn't do anything at the bar without a reservation and were handed a map of nearby restaurants. We visited 5 or 6 places near the station, but due to the timing, we were turned away everywhere and ended up buying food at a convenience store to eat in the room. It might be better to clearly advertise breakfast included with No Meals Included or make it clearer that the restaurant cannot be used by guests without a reservation. The front desk is an important image. We were looking forward to our stay, but our spirits were dampened at the front desk. The building and space were very lovely, so I hope the level of the front desk staff and the dining situation can be improved. Thank you.

    Revisit Done

    This was my first visit. I often travel domestically, and I felt that the Hotel was making sustainable efforts while maintaining its services, which was just right. The natto soup for breakfast was really delicious. I was delighted to enjoy local cuisine (it was a buffet, so I thought I had served it well...), and there were so many dishes that I couldn't cover them all. I thought it would be nice if rice could be reserved in advance, with an additional charge, to provide each person with rice cooked in an earthenware pot. Both the location and interior were impeccable. The guest room had a high ceiling and a balcony, making it a very spacious and meaningful stay. It was also convenient that it was about a 20-minute direct bus ride from Shonai Airport. It was raining on the day I left, but I was grateful to be lent an umbrella, which I didn't need to return. Thank you. I will visit again.

    It was a relaxing space.

    I traveled with the destination being Suiden Terrace, and the result... it was the right choice! Each concept was well thought out, and everything made perfect sense. Coming from Okinawa, next time I will aim for the season when the rice fields are in full bloom. It was healing, it was the best!

    Local Super Sento (Super Bathhouse)

    Impressions from the perspective of a sauna fan who goes on sauna trips with family every month. Despite being a small sauna, more than half of the visitors are locals, so even with an early check-in, there's no sense of escape from the ordinary. Since the sauna can barely fit six people, I wish they would make it exclusive to guests on weekends when there are many staying. There were even people brushing their teeth in the bathtub... At night, I thought it would be exclusive to guests, but the sauna room was still filled with the everyday conversations of locals. Even at night, there was no towel exchange, leaving them soaked and unhygienic. The gap between the stylish hotel photos and website for promotion is huge. The guest-priority sauna at the Kame〇Hotel in Shonai, where we stayed the previous day, was clean and wonderful, which was the saving grace of this trip. No plans to revisit.

    The season was unfavorable.

    As the name "Suiden Terrace" suggests, its charm lies in being surrounded by rice fields, but after harvesting, it becomes barren and bleak. Despite trying to call multiple times to inform them of our late arrival on the day, we only reached voicemail and never got through, which initially gave a bad impression of the service. However, upon arrival, the front desk and other staff were very accommodating. The Room was spacious, clean, and beautiful. It seems we chose the wrong time to visit.

    The architecture and...

    The architecture and facilities of the Hotel were excellent. However, the service and the bath were below expectations. Firstly, regarding the service, many staff members were awkward in their responses, and it was rare to feel pleasant while being attended to. It took a long time from ordering drinks to having them prepared, water requests were forgotten, and calls to the reception went unanswered for over a minute, which was disappointing overall. As for the bath, the sauna we were looking forward to was narrower than expected, and many guests had poor manners, such as wringing towels and talking inside the sauna, which was disappointing.

    A designer Hotel in a tranquil setting

    Unfortunately, the rice had already been harvested, but a stylish Hotel was built in the tranquil landscape, and we had an elegant day. If I may say, I stay in various places, including overseas, and at large foreign-affiliated Hotels, the staff greet you. I heard that especially at M series Hotels, they educate their employees in that manner. Here, even when passing by in the hallway, it was silently through. When I greeted them on the way back, only one out of the four people who seemed to be room attendants noticed and responded. Of course, the front desk staff responded pleasantly, but it seems it will take some time for that to permeate all the staff.

    The building, atmosphere, and location were good. However, the bath and sauna we were looking forward to were not well-maintained, with clogged drains causing dirty water to linger in the washing area, making it quite unclean, and the changing room was full of hair. The changing room was small compared to the number of guest rooms, always crowded, and we couldn't relax, so we returned to our Room to use the hairdryer and other amenities. There were also few staff at the front desk, and we had to wait for service. The service aspect was disappointing. We hope they improve. The food was delicious, but the arrangement of items and placement of chopsticks were not well thought out, causing congestion. Overall, it left a disappointing impression.
