    It was a wonderful mini reunion.

    During the fresh green season, four friends from my school days decided to visit and requested to stay at this Hotel. The day before, we stayed at Hanamaki Onsen for the second night. The rooms were upgraded, and we had three rooms in a row. The spaciousness, facilities, and location of the rooms were absolutely wonderful. We enjoyed afternoon tea and apero time (in the garden seating), followed by a delightful dinner at the restaurant with various à la carte dishes—all of which were of high quality and visually pleasing as well as delicious. We even had the pleasure of greeting the charming head chef. The petit fours were also delightful. The breakfast on the following day was equally delicious with a variety of options that we thoroughly enjoyed. Thanks to this experience, we had an elegant and enjoyable time together, leaving my old friends completely satisfied as they departed. Thank you so much for everything. As for me, I received great appreciation as their organizer (laughs). They mentioned wanting to return during ski season or with their families next time—so please take care of us again when that happens!

    Perfect accommodation for a three-generation family ski trip

    Every year, our regular ski accommodation was Club Med in Hokkaido. However, due to recent temperature fluctuations and frequent airline cancellations on the return trip, combined with Club Med's new minimum stay requirement of 4 nights or more, we could only visit during long holidays like New Year’s. This time, we decided to spend a 2-night, 3-day trip at Appi Kogen during the February holiday weekend—and it turned out to be a perfect choice. The snow quality was comparable to Hokkaido, the slopes were uncrowded, ski rentals were well-equipped, there weren’t many inbound tourists, it was quiet with a sauna available—and above all—the hotel meals were delicious. There was live music every night and wide beginner courses that made skiing enjoyable. We’d love to come back for spring skiing as well. Thank you for your hospitality!

    It was my second time in two consecutive years, and I was more satisfied than the last time.

    When I first visited, I was satisfied with the atmosphere and access to the slopes, and this was my second stay in two consecutive years. During my previous stay, there were small stresses such as issues with the habits of some guests from China and superficial hospitality, but overall I was satisfied. This time, there were none of those issues, and rather, I felt as if I was traveling abroad while still in Japan, and I was completely satisfied. I felt that the sincere response of the staff, including the doorman who helped when we got stuck in the snow upon arrival, and their supportive attitude towards activities we decided on suddenly, were worth the price.

    The most disappointing among the Intercontinental hotels.

    The room is so small that it doesn't feel like a Resort Hotel. It feels cramped even for one person. I can't believe they sell that room as a twin. I doubt the Intercontinental brand. I understood that it couldn't be helped due to the location, but as soon as I entered the room, a large stink bug caught my eye on the curtain, and later, a stink bug was also attached to the minibar menu, making it hard to relax. I planned my trip to Iwate with the purpose of staying at the hotel, not sightseeing, so I was even more disappointed. Although there were various types of tea for afternoon tea, it was served in a way that made it unclear whether it was a teabag or loose leaf, and as for the alcohol menu, there was no brand description or explanation for the beer or wine, making it comparable to or worse than an economy class menu on a plane. I couldn't enjoy the drinks. It would have been nice to have at least one local beer or sake. (I would have appreciated a word if the cup or glass was empty) Since the room was small, I tried to relax in the lobby, but it became noisy with a photo shoot, so I returned to the room. The Onsen was almost just hot water, and the breakfast was lower in level compared to other Intercontinental Hotels. Since it's located in Iwate, I wish they would make more use of Iwate's ingredients. Personally, there is no element that makes me want to come again. The staff were great, cleaning the lobby frequently, and the person in charge of the Shuttle Service on the way back chose the route according to the train schedule and saw us off until the train departed.

    I was able to spend a peaceful time.

    First of all, thank you for the room upgrade. This is my second visit because my previous stay was very pleasant. This time as well, it was a very comfortable stay and I am very satisfied. I was able to spend a calm time throughout. Thank you very much.

    One day is not enough.

    We are grateful for your hospitality every year. Seeing the Dragon Eye at the entrance makes me feel like I've returned! The different impressions each season—snow season, green season, and in between—make repeat visits worthwhile. I love how it remains luxurious yet friendly. The new bartender also left a very good impression. I am very grateful for the Shuttle Service and upgrades to APPI HOUSE. Some say transportation is inconvenient, but with JR trains at just the right times and the Shuttle Service, it feels very accessible from Tokyo using only public transportation. I am looking forward to visiting again next year.

    Elderly couple and their child

    I stayed on 11/7. It was a stay after showing my father (92 years old), mother (89 years old), wife (65 years old), and myself (62 years old) the Matsuo Mine site where my mother grew up. Thank you for your dedicated and easy-to-understand service to the elderly couple, including myself. My parents were thrilled as it was their first time staying at such a luxury Resort Hotel, including overseas. The afternoon tea and apero time were also nice. The only disappointment was that we couldn't make a reservation at the sushi restaurant on the day due to preparation issues. Initially, we had a reservation at the ANA Plaza, but it was really good to change to this Hotel. (On the day, there were 15 tour buses of travelers from overseas) Thank you for providing a high-quality space experience different from everyday life. I would like to use it again if there is an opportunity.

    Lost and Found

    This is my second stay since last month. The room was the same type as last time, spacious, clean, and gave a sense of security. However, what concerned me this time was about the forgotten items. After returning home, I realized I had forgotten a set of bath amenities and a newly opened pack of products, so I called the hotel the next day. The response was that there were no forgotten items at all. After confirming with my family, during the checkout cleanup, they mentioned that due to the late checkout benefit and the next stay, cleaning would start at 11 o'clock, which made the process rushed. They found it strange not to take the items from the bathroom. The response of "no forgotten items" still leaves me puzzled and has led to distrust, prompting me to comment with a sense of unease.

    Comfortable stay, would be even better if service speed improves.

    Overall, I was very satisfied with this stay. The room's facilities were excellent, and I felt comfortable. Additionally, the facilities such as the gym, Onsen, and sauna were well-equipped, providing the perfect environment for relaxation. I also appreciated the aperitif service and live music. However, if the speed of service could be a bit faster, it would have been even more comfortable. Smoothness is required for check-in and check-out, and it would be nice if the food and beverage service were a bit quicker. Of course, I felt that the staff were responding politely, but there might be room for a little improvement. Still, it was a stay that made me want to visit again.

    Thank you for your hospitality.

    I stayed for 3 days and 2 nights, and due to a friend's sudden cancellation, I went alone. Since the meal fee (for 4 meals) had already been paid in advance, they upgraded my dinner for 2 days and paired it with wine. I had reserved a classic room at random, but if I had stayed with my friend, it might have felt a bit cramped. It was good that I was alone. The room's facilities were well-equipped and satisfactory. The afternoon tea was satisfying, but the apero time was a bit disappointing... On the first evening, the chef called me in advance to confirm the prepared ingredients and explain the menu. The sea bream carpaccio and the flounder, crab, and turnip with saffron sauce were exquisite. On the second evening, I had Japanese cuisine, featuring simple dishes that made the most of the ingredients, with plenty of matsutake mushrooms, and it was very delicious. On the second day, I took a gondola to the mountain top alone before noon! It didn't rain, so I explored leisurely. The autumn leaves had just begun, and if I had come a week later, they might have been at their peak. Unexpectedly encountering dinosaurs along the way was a good surprise! The bath was almost always private whenever I went, and I could relax in the open-air bath. Thank you for taking care of me.

    It was a very satisfying stay.

    This is my second stay as I stayed last year and wanted to stay again. We were able to relax with the family in the spacious Room provided. It was quiet and nice even though it was a Sunday stay. It was a pity that we couldn't make it in time for afternoon tea. I would like to stay again. Thank you.

    Favorite Hotel

    Onsen large public bath with sauna, comfortable room, delicious meals, and a quiet environment are favorites. It is the perfect hotel for relaxing alone. It's a bit lonely now that most of the staff from the opening have left. Looking forward to the future of the new staff.

    The green season at the ski resort is perfect for adults to relax and enjoy.

    The staff promptly accommodated our last-minute request at check-in to change to a 2 Queen Premium (Terrace) Room, allowing us to enjoy a very comfortable and stress-free 4-night, 5-day stay. Regarding meals, from the half-buffet breakfast at [Hakuro] Dining to in-room dining (on the second day of hiking, both breakfast and dinner were delivered to our room), aperitif-time meals, and afternoon tea snacks and sweets—all were of exceptionally high quality. The half-buffet breakfast with slightly different dishes each day was particularly delightful. The Western-style breakfast's egg options included Eggs Benedict with salmon and Hollandaise sauce—a highlight—and the yogurt with fruit compote was also delicious. For dinner on the third night, we visited Teppanyaki [Kazaan], while on the fourth night we dined at [Sushi Nagada]. Both chefs and staff demonstrated their passion for local ingredients through engaging conversations that made the experience truly enjoyable. Highlights included handmade walnut miso paired with grilled vegetables, Shorthorn beef steak, fresh sashimi served with farm-fresh vegetable slices accompanied by blackthroat seaperch liver soy sauce—unforgettable flavors indeed! Thank you for such wonderful meals. We visited the public bath every morning before breakfast starting from the third day. The rotating baths featured [Hinoki Bath], where seasonal plants framed a stunning borrowed view of mountains—a serene experience that made us lose track of time. We missed visiting Bar [Tonoko] this time but look forward to making it there on our next trip! Thank you for making our first visit to Iwate so memorable!

    Thank you very much. This time, I stayed with my parents. They were very satisfied, and it was a great way to show my appreciation to them.     Access is difficult, but it's the best location.

    I was anxious until the day of the trip as it involved transferring from the Shinkansen to local trains from Aomori to Morioka, and then to Appi Kogen. The number of trains from Morioka Station to Appi Kogen Station is quite limited, and if you want to check in at 2 PM (to enjoy afternoon tea), there's only one suitable time. I called in advance to arrange a pick-up from Appi Kogen Station. The weather on the day was cloudy and colder than expected, with a bit of autumn foliage, but since the weather wasn't great, I spent most of the time inside the hotel. I am truly grateful to the staff who took care of us from check-in and showed great consideration. The matcha chocolate scones and mini burgers at afternoon tea were delicious. Since lunch was late and we had afternoon tea, I wasn't hungry at night, and I ended up eating a lot in the morning, so I couldn't have lunch at the hotel restaurant, which was a bit disappointing (laughs). I have stayed at other properties of InterContinental, and I like that each location has its own charm. I hope to revisit during the season when I can see the Dragon Eye.

    I want to visit again.

    The meals are delicious, and the cleaning is thorough, so I think it's perfect. When I stayed, the age group of the guests was high, mainly in their 50s and 60s, and it was quiet. The only disappointing point was that the gym was small and I couldn't do anything, but everything else was wonderful. I would love to visit again. Thank you very much.

    I visit this hotel every month. It's a cliché, but in a good way, you can feel an extraordinary experience. I think anyone who has been there even once feels the same way. I used to frequent Westin hotels, but now I've switched to InterContinental. I look forward to continuing my visits.
