    I have been using Hotel Okura for many years, and the staff's kindness, attentive service, and the high quality of the cuisine were truly exceptional, living up to the name of Hotel Okura. However, I was disappointed with the narrow washing area in the bathroom that lacked a chair, causing shower water to flow significantly into the bathtub during use. Additionally, I found the variety of bathroom amenities to be insufficient.

    A tranquil Hotel in Kyoto

    This is a must-stay hotel for your Kyoto trip! The spacious lobby and the warm smiles of the staff create a welcoming atmosphere. Even the General Manager personally greets guests, which is truly admirable. The anticipation of spending a wonderful time here fills you with excitement. The rooms are always clean, and despite their busy schedules, even the housekeeping staff take a moment to greet you politely in the morning—truly impressive service. Luxurious bathrobes are provided, and beverages range from coffee capsules to tea, cola, and beer—more than enough to satisfy any guest. Above all, there is an incredible sense of tranquility with no trace of disturbance. From the window, you can enjoy stunning views of clear skies and greenery with Kinkakuji Temple in sight—a breathtaking scene indeed. As expected from the Okura brand, everything was exceptional thanks to all the staff who made our stay elegant and memorable. We extend our heartfelt gratitude for such an experience.     A Tranquil Stay

    The location and the quiet environment within the Hotel and rooms allowed me to fully enjoy winter in Kyoto. However, one disappointing point was a group of three men talking loudly during breakfast. The breakfast itself and the garden stroll afterward were delightful.

    A calm and quiet accommodation

    This hotel is my favorite and the most comfortable place to stay in Kyoto. The calm interior and the refined hospitality of the staff make for a relaxing stay. The bottle of red wine I received as a Diamond Member benefit was original and delicious. The sparkling wine served in the lounge was also excellent. I would definitely like to make another reservation here.

    It was quiet and pea...

    It was quiet and peaceful, away from the bustling area, allowing for a relaxing stay. Although I frequently travel to Kyoto, staying in this area felt refreshing as it was a new experience. I was able to visit Nanzenji Temple and Heian Shrine on foot for the first time in years. I booked an evening and breakfast included plan at an affordable price, which made my stay highly satisfying.

    Enjoy the Quality of Hotel Okura

    The modern design and cleanliness throughout the Hotel made for a very pleasant stay. 【Room & Amenities】 The Room was equipped with thoughtful touches such as a minibar, soft gauze pajamas, bath salts, and more. It was so comfortable that I wished to stay longer. The bathroom with a separate washing area was especially appreciated. 【Breakfast】 We enjoyed a special New Year's breakfast celebration. The meal included beautifully presented dishes like vibrant salads, rolled omelets, salmon topped with gold leaf, Miyama yogurt, and more. Each dish reflected high-quality craftsmanship. (We are deeply grateful for the allergy accommodations.) 【Free Flow & Minibar】 We were welcomed with New Year’s treats and Hotel-original candies in the Room. The tea from Tsujiri and replenished drinks in the fridge were incredibly helpful after baths or during sightseeing trips. The free-flow service was also a delightful touch of hospitality. 【Hospitality】 The staff provided attentive yet unobtrusive service that felt just right. Our Room was cleaned daily to maintain its pristine condition, allowing us to enjoy our stay comfortably in a clean environment. Experiencing the ema at Okazaki Shrine and live koto music during breakfast added to the festive New Year atmosphere—thank you! 【Other Notes】 Being within walking distance of Eikando Temple and Nanzenji Temple was convenient, as well as having easy access by car for sightseeing trips to Ohara or Mount Hiei's attractions made this an ideal base for exploration. We look forward to staying at this wonderful Hotel again!

    Blessed with good weather.

    The view from the Room was absolutely refreshing. Overlooking the garden of Higashi Honganji, we enjoyed a wide expanse of red-tinted trees and an unobstructed blue sky, which was truly delightful. However, it might have been a less enjoyable stay if the weather had not been favorable. The Room's functionality and furnishings were satisfactory. Due to its small scale, room service options were quite limited, and breakfast choices were also restricted, leaving little opportunity to experience notable services. Many of the front desk staff appeared to be from overseas.

    I stayed for one night with breakfast included. The environment was quiet and had a calm atmosphere, and the breakfast was delicious. However, using the nearby temple's parking lot was inconvenient due to the distance. In terms of service, I did not feel much hospitality from the staff. I did not feel inclined to stay here again.

    The HAPPY HOUR next ...

    The HAPPY HOUR next to the dining area, which starts at 3:00 PM, could be more enhanced to add greater value. At its current level, it might even be better to have nothing at all. This was my first stay in Okazaki, and I was able to enjoy a relaxing time away from the city's hustle and bustle. I look forward to staying again.

    A beautiful Hotel with a new and clean interior, adorned with stunning floral arrangements and a lovely garden. The hospitality is exceptional, creating a wonderful experience. The atmosphere is very peaceful, with thorough cleaning and well-prepared amenities making the Room comfortable to stay in. Returning here from the bustling crowds of Kyoto feels like entering another world, offering true relaxation. The variety of beverages provided was also delightful. This time, I was guided to a Room with an amazing view, allowing me to start my morning feeling refreshed and happy. During my stay, I even had the chance to see a magnificent rainbow from my Room, making it an unforgettable birthday trip.     No need to cut corners here...

    The location is far from Kyoto Station, but it is quiet and peaceful, making it ideal for a leisurely stroll around the Higashiyama area. The Facility was very clean and new, and the staff provided courteous service from check-in, raising my expectations. The Room was of adequate size, with a comfortable bathroom and a well-stocked minibar, creating a pleasant space. ...Up to this point, everything was perfect. However, when I tried to take a bath at night, I found that amenities like lotion were not available in the Room. While I was informed during check-in to request any necessary items if needed, lotion was not mentioned as an example at that time. Considering even affordable Business Hotels provide such amenities nowadays, I did not expect them to be missing here. When I contacted the front desk out of necessity, a young female staff member responded somewhat irritably. She brought an OSAJI skincare set to my Room but offered no apology for the inconvenience caused. While everything else—including the Facility—was excellent overall, this incident lowered my satisfaction with the stay as a whole. What benefit could there possibly be for the Hotel in saving on such minor amenities? If you claim to be a "luxury hotel," shouldn't these basic amenities be readily available?

    I strolled around the Higashiyama area, reminiscing about the past. Although it was slightly early for the autumn foliage, I enjoyed the scenery of this season. I look forward to visiting again in a different season.

    Hotel surrounded by abundant nature

    Although I mentioned using a private car at the time of reservation, parking arrangements were not made, which raised concerns about communication. It was my first experience with a hotel where snacks in the lounge's free-flow service were charged, leaving an impression of lacking hospitality. Having two toilets in the suite room was convenient, but having only one washbasin was a bit inconvenient. I appreciated being able to watch YouTube on the TV and experiencing the morning service at Okazaki Betsuin. The location surrounded by rich nature provided a relaxing atmosphere.

    A serene and sophisticated luxury Hotel

    I often use Okura for both banquets and accommodation, so I am familiar with their high level of service and delicious meals. However, this time I only used the breakfast service, and while it might sound a bit critical, I was slightly disappointed. This may be partly because the previous day I stayed at another hotel in Osaka where the food and service were exceptionally special. The breakfast options here felt too limited. For instance, there were only two citrus juice options to choose from. For a first-class hotel like Okura, it would be nice to have more variety. That said, when I requested tomato juice separately, they provided fresh juice promptly—if this level of quality is available, it would have been better if they had mentioned it upfront. Additionally, offering more variety in bread types or dressings for eggs and salads could likely be accommodated as well; an announcement encouraging guests to feel free to make special requests beforehand would enhance the experience. That being said, the guest rooms and amenities are elegant and luxurious—the complimentary drinks in the refrigerator were a thoughtful touch—and all staff members were polite (perhaps even slightly overly formal). As expected from a serene luxury hotel like this one, the comfort of quietly enjoying such opulence was truly remarkable. Next time, I’d love to stay in a room with a garden view!

    I used this for a guest. I had requested a late check-out in advance, but on the day, I was informed that it would be difficult and there would be an additional charge. That itself was fine, but I heard that they claimed to have contacted me about this beforehand. However, I did not receive any such communication, and while it might have been my oversight in confirming, there were no voicemails or emails sent to the registered contact information. This created a sense of distrust. In the end, I truly appreciated the adjustment made for us; however, the unease during the process lingered between myself and my guest and could not be resolved. I had high expectations when making this Reservation to provide hospitality for my guest, so it left me feeling disappointed as a result. Although I usually do not leave Reviews, I am posting this with hopes that future responses and services will improve.

    Okura's Services

    This was my first stay at Okazaki Villa, but I did not feel the warm and heartfelt service that can be experienced at Okura Oike. With the rapid increase in hotels in Kyoto, there seem to be many issues such as staff shortages and lack of training time. However, I believe that a smile from the staff or small gestures of thoughtfulness could significantly change the impression. As there are many international tourists, English proficiency is essential. Even a little touch of hospitality could greatly enhance the quality of service! It is a very quiet and relaxing accommodation, and I look forward to my next visit!

    It was relaxing.

    Located slightly away from the city center, we enjoyed a quiet and relaxing Room. The Hotel staff's hospitality was excellent, making our stay very comfortable. We also had champagne at the summer Champagne Garden, which was delightful. The garden is beautiful as well. If it weren't for the intense heat, we would have loved to take a stroll. We hope to visit again during a more pleasant season to explore the garden further.

    Small Luxury?

    This was my first visit. It was quiet, but claiming to be a small luxury Hotel seems a bit of a stretch. There were no welcome services like towels or tea upon arrival, and despite arriving after the check-in time, the garden in front of the restaurant was still being maintained, with loud machine noises that were quite bothersome. The Room amenities had been changed from Bamford to another brand and were not items you could take home. The Diamond member benefit wine could not be chosen; only a bottle of red wine was placed in the Room. The bathtub drainage was poor, and there was no turndown service provided. To top it off, when I called for a taxi personally for pickup, it wasn’t allowed to wait within the Hotel premises but instead had to wait on the road outside as per instructions given to the driver by staff. Having stayed hundreds of nights in Kyoto with several favorite places already established, I occasionally try new Hotels—but this one will not be revisited.

    One concern.

    The breakfast was delicious, and the Room was clean and comfortable. However, I noticed something that I wanted to mention. In the toilet, when I sat down, I saw a small dried urine stain between my feet on the seat. It wasn’t visible when standing or entering due to the lighting but became noticeable when seated. Since it was right after check-in and entering the Room, it couldn’t have been mine as drying takes time. I wiped it with toilet paper, and it came off easily. While I considered reporting this to Hotel staff, there was no evidence left after cleaning it myself, so I decided not to pursue it further. It might have been missed during cleaning if only lightly wiped before my stay. Despite this issue, I would like to stay again in the future!

    The shampoo and conditioner are now in larger bottles, making them easier to use compared to before. Previously, the plastic containers were difficult to dispense from, so this change is appreciated. However, it would be nice if body lotion was provided. Regarding amenities during a Multiple Night Stay, I noticed that previously a new pouch was added, but this time only the toothbrush was replenished. There was a lack of cotton pads and cotton swabs; it would be helpful if the staff could check what is missing and replenish accordingly.

    We had a wonderful time.

    I stayed in the Serenity Room, and the view from the window was truly stunning. The balcony had hydrangeas, and beyond them, you could see a beautiful temple—a breathtaking scene. Additionally, before sunset, I enjoyed soaking in the bath while admiring this view. Located in a residential area slightly away from the city center, it offers a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. From the hotel lounge, you can access and stroll through the garden of a neighboring temple. The room was spacious with an incredibly comfortable bed. According to information I found on social media beforehand, amenities used to be Bamford but were replaced with Osaji during my stay. Considering Kyoto's cultural background, I appreciated their shift to Japanese products. As for meals, both the sandwich I ordered at the lounge and breakfast were delicious and very filling. If I have another chance to visit, I'd love to try their French toast as well!

    The service is always excellent whenever I visit. Since this review, I have also made reservations through the official site and other platforms. Although I sometimes stay at other hotels when in Kyoto, this is one of the hotels where I can stay with peace of mind. Recently, there have been various system changes, and I think the target audience has shifted slightly. It would be exciting if you could provide even more surprises! In recent years, there has been a rush of hotel openings in Kyoto with luxury brands like Hilton and Banyan Tree entering the market. With competitors like Capella and Imperial Hotel coming soon as well, I'd like to support Okura as a Japanese hotel brand. Additionally, the dinner at Nouvelle Epoque is highly recommended—it’s truly wonderful! I’ll continue to visit from time to time as always!

    Stayed on the second day of a trip with my mother.

    Stayed here on the second day of a trip with my mother. It was my birthday, and I appreciated the kind birthday wishes from the staff. The Facility is new, with a great balance between the building and garden scenery, offering a calm Kyoto-like atmosphere. The Room was bright and allowed for a relaxing stay. The location was excellent, close to temples, museums, and other personally intriguing spots. This is definitely a Hotel I would like to visit again. Thank you very much!

    Adult Getaway

    I stayed at the accommodation to watch the Noh performance. Although it was just one night and I went out in the evening, I had a relaxing time during my short stay. Above all, it was quiet, and I felt at ease in the lounge restaurant with views of the beautiful interior and garden. Despite the unfortunate rain, enjoying a delicious breakfast while looking at the rain-soaked greenery in the garden was a blissful moment. The fresh flower arrangements also left an impression on me. One concern was that the counter in my room was quite high, making it difficult to pour hot water or use cups comfortably. Additionally, I thought having instructions for using Nespresso nearby instead of only on TV would be helpful. The bed and room wear were very comfortable. The staff's hospitality was excellent as well, and I hope to stay again next year for another Noh performance event!

    I had a relaxing stay.

    I was able to rest well as I was feeling tired. I also enjoyed a stroll around the neighborhood. The hallway was fully carpeted and so soft that it felt like you could almost trip on it. After returning home, I truly appreciated the quality of the Hotel.

    I let my guard down.

    I chose this Hotel because it is close to Saito Kazuyoshi's live venue. Honestly, I did not have high expectations. However, I was pleasantly surprised. As soon as I drove into the entrance, a staff member approached with a smile and guided me to the parking spot, then escorted me to the check-in counter. My suitcase was placed on a cart and handled in a manner similar to that of a luxury Hotel. The Room amenities were excellent, and notably, the newly introduced shampoo was salon-quality. The highlight of my stay was definitely the breakfast; you can immediately tell they are particular about their ingredients. There are many more points I'd like to share, but I'll leave it at this for now.

The Hotel staff were very kind and helpful, assisting with delivery arrangements and lending a smartphone charger. Their smart and attentive service was greatly appreciated.
