    Roadside Station + City Hotel

    I learned about VISON from a gardening YouTuber’s video and stayed there with my family. The shops on site were quite enjoyable, and we took out a variety of items. I don’t really want to write negative comments, but there were many disappointing points as a Facility. First, the signage throughout VISON is unhelpful. If a parking area is for employees, it should be clearly marked as “Employees Only.” The same goes for the autonomous bus lane—I saw cars driving in the bus lane without realizing it, and I myself didn’t understand what the sign meant at first. I think roads need clear markings on the pavement as well, not just signs (especially confusing ones). Next is rain protection. I would like to be able to move between each Facility without getting wet in rainy weather. Lastly, the Hotel had so little storage that it felt like it was designed by a minimalist, and there were only the bare minimum of trash bins and laundry baskets. I was also personally dissatisfied with the layout. There was no sink in the toilet room, so having to walk to a separate washbasin every time to wash my hands was honestly frustrating. We stayed on the 9th floor, and during our stay my child complained that they couldn’t sleep because of wind noise. That said, the Room was clean, the furnishings were fine, and the view was wonderful. I have other complaints as well, but I think there is plenty of room for improvement. At this stage, my honest impression is that I can recommend it only at the level of being a roadside station in Mie Prefecture.

    Luxury of Space

    At first, the space felt so large that it was a bit overwhelming, but once I settled in, I was truly impressed. We stayed in the Dog Villa. It was fun—it felt like spending time with our dog in a single-story home. Unfortunately, it rained during our stay, but next time I’d love to gaze up at a sky full of stars.

    The sauna is excellent.

    I stayed here with friends for a sauna-focused trip. Unfortunately, I have to say the staff’s level of awareness felt low. The following three points especially stood out: - Even with guests right in front of them, staff chatted casually among themselves. - Although they confirmed check-in for two adults, the loungewear provided was one free-size and one size S. No gown was prepared. There were three pairs of slippers, etc., as if they had simply been left there. - When I asked at the front desk to exchange the loungewear and asked where I could change, they suggested the restroom. Perhaps it’s a difference in values, but changing clothes in a restroom is not acceptable. The layout is also fairly complex. You may get lost until you get used to it. Going to VISON’s shopping street, then to the baths, then back to the Room takes quite a bit of time just for moving around. That said, Honzoyu is excellent. Because the sauna has two levels, it feels spacious and not claustrophobic. I would like to visit again as a day-use bath guest if possible.

    Despite my high expe...

    Despite my high expectations, I wasn’t satisfied. There is no floor heating in the bath or washroom, so the floors are extremely cold. Since my home has underfloor heating, this felt like a downgrade in Facility. The toilet also has no attached hand-washing sink, so you have to cross the area near the entrance to use the very cold washroom. The large public bath is in a separate building next to the Hotel, so you should expect to get chilled afterward. Also, there was only a medicinal bath; some guests were rubbing themselves in the water and others had their hair in the tub, which made me question hygiene—perhaps because they allow outside visitors. There are no skincare items such as lotion provided, so you need to bring your own or your face will dry out. As for meals, there was nothing that made me want to return for it.

    Enjoy VISON to the fullest

    This was my first visit to VISON from the Kanto area. Because of travel logistics, I’m glad I stayed one night. VISON has a great selection of high-quality shops, and it was wonderful to be able to explore the whole area. For breakfast, I chose the buffet at the Hotel restaurant, but compared with other options within VISON, it felt slightly less impressive in terms of variety and quality. In hindsight, I think eating at another place would have been better.

    Improve the in-room air conditioning.

    The Hotel’s attention to detail was evident throughout, and I had a truly engaging stay. However, the washbasin area and bathroom in the guest room were so cold—almost as if a draft was coming through—that they were unusable. Perhaps this is because air conditioning is only available in the bedroom. The overall atmosphere of the Hotel was great, so I hope this can be improved.

    The tempura at dinner was exceptionally delicious!

    The guest rooms are still quite new, spacious, well equipped, and offer a good view, so I think they deserve a high rating. Amenities and hospitality/service are above average. The Onsen/baths are in a separate building; the facility itself was very comfortable and highly rated, but being in a separate building is somewhat inconvenient. In winter, the outside temperature is low—on the way back it’s fine because you’re warmed up, but on the way there you end up getting cold. On rainy or snowy days it’s miserable! At the very least, there should be a covered walkway between the accommodation building and the bathing facility. This point would be a major drawback. For dinner I chose the tempura course “Tenkou / Ise no Kuni,” and that was absolutely the right choice! I actually didn’t have high expectations because I picked tempura by elimination based on my other meal plans, but contrary to what I expected it was outstandingly delicious. The menu showed real creativity—items like daikon tempura and Matsusaka beef tempura (things I’d never had as tempura ingredients) were surprising and genuinely impressive in taste. Afterward I looked it up online and learned it’s a very highly rated restaurant, which made sense. While traveling there aren’t many places that make me think “I want to eat here again!”, but this one did. Given how close this area is to Matsusaka beef production regions, many guests probably choose sukiyaki or steak for dinner—but you can eat sukiyaki or steak at other nearby restaurants too. Tempura at this level is hard to come by, so I recommend it. Overall, this seems like an accommodation mainly targeting families, but considering value for money as well, I think it offers high satisfaction.

    Generally satisfied

    The Hotel was clean and conveniently located, and the staff were wonderful. Check-in was from 3:00 p.m., but since the Room was ready, we were allowed to enter a little early—thank you very much. Dinner was included in a Plan at a partner restaurant, and we were satisfied with the meal. However, it was difficult to hear the person explaining the dishes because their voice was too quiet, and when we left, all staff had gone to the back and no one was there. Another guest dining alone was also present, so they ended up being the only person in the front area of the restaurant, which concerned us.

    I felt refreshed and relaxed at VISON.

    I stayed one night in a twin Room. The Room has a simple design, but it was spacious and relaxing. It was a bit cold on the way to Honso-yu, but I warmed up thoroughly from the inside out. The pre-selectable dinner and breakfast were truly wonderful. In particular, the course meal at Unagi-dokoro for dinner was outstanding. The breakfast buffet featuring locally grown vegetables was also very delicious—I ate plenty. I visited shops while taking a walk, and everyone at the shops left me with a very warm impression. VISON is a vast place where time flows at an unhurried pace—I had a great time.

    With your dog

    This Hotel is pet-friendly, so we could stay with our dog. There is also a place where you can order indoor-friendly meals for your dog to enjoy together with you. It’s close to Ise Jingu Shrine and in a great location, with plenty of shops nearby, so we had lots to enjoy! Since it was a cold day in January, it was chilly going to the bath area, so next time I’d like to visit again in a warmer season. Thank you very much.

    Facility not suitable for elderly guests.

    I visited with my elderly parents and felt that the facility might not be suitable for older guests. It may be fine for younger visitors. The bath, which we were looking forward to, had dim lighting and few handrails, making it difficult for elderly individuals to enjoy. While the nighttime lighting was beautiful, it made it hard to see our footing, and the long walking distances were challenging. Although I acknowledge that my research beforehand could have been better, I was disappointed as I had high expectations.

    Cold

    Winter use is not recommended. The hallway in front of the Room is as cold as the outside air. Dinner was at Casa Urola, but it was so cold that we had to eat wearing coats, scarves, and lap blankets. Although the food was delicious, the cold overshadowed the experience, which was disappointing.

    I took a break at the end of the year and used this accommodation for a last-minute reservation. It was my first time staying here. Since it was during the busy year-end period, my evaluation might be slightly strict, but I think this facility is more suitable for relatively younger guests. On the night of my stay, it suddenly got very cold, and walking to the dining area felt dark and chilly, which made me a bit uneasy. Additionally, on the way to breakfast in the morning, there was frost on the bridge which felt somewhat unsafe. As this is a relatively new facility, I believe there is still room for improvement. However, it offers an adventurous atmosphere that may appeal to younger or more active guests.

    We stayed with my wheelchair-bound mother. It was helpful that the room was close to the elevator, but there wasn’t much consideration for wheelchair accessibility, which was a bit disappointing. Thinking it would be difficult for her to use the large public bath in a wheelchair, we chose a room with an open-air bath. However, as it was a very cold day, we were worried about catching a cold and ended up not using it. Since there was no bathtub in the indoor bathroom, my mother used the bathroom in my sons’ twin room instead. We thought we had chosen the same plan as my sons’ twin room for meals, but there were differences in the sukiyaki menu by Sugimoto—such as appetizers and beef quality—which made us realize they were different plans after all. While this misunderstanding may have been our fault, we feel that clearer labeling could help avoid such confusion. The twin room on the 6th floor had a wall right outside its door; however, on our 7th-floor room, opening the door led directly outdoors. As it was cold that day, I wore down outerwear over my indoor wear when moving around. It would be nice if warm jackets were provided for guests during colder seasons.

    Great rooms but disappointing dinner at the accommodation

    The Room was very nice, but going outside for the bath and meals at night was dark, cold, and a bit scary. Breakfast was excellent; however, the sukiyaki we had for dinner was truly disappointing. It felt like family restaurant quality, with mistakes in the meat and impersonal service from young part-time staff. Unfortunately, such a dinner experience makes me hesitant to return. It’s regrettable that due to late booking, we could only choose the sukiyaki restaurant—it turned out to be the worst part of our stay. I wouldn’t recommend it to friends either. Dinner is important; I hope there will be better coordination with restaurants in the future.

    I stayed on New Year...

    I stayed on New Year's Eve and had a generally comfortable experience. The countdown event, complimentary sake, and sweet red bean soup were wonderful touches that showcased the staff's hospitality, making for a great start to the new year. Thank you very much. This time, I stayed in the family suite with an open-air bath. However, despite being indoors, the space from the washroom to the shower room and open-air bath was extremely cold. While this may be due to structural reasons of the building, I felt that some additional heating or other measures in the washroom would have been appreciated. I look forward to staying again in the future!

    It was great!

    First time at VISON! Decided to spend New Year's at Hotel VISON. The service, the hotel, and the food were all wonderful, and I want to visit again! However, since it was the busy year-end season, there were a few minor disappointments such as cleaning cloths left in the Room and trash found between the sofa and bed.

    A very lovely Hotel, but dinner requires a Reservation.

    It was my first visit, and the space, scenery, and onsen were beautiful and comfortable, making for a very pleasant hotel stay. However, since it was during the year-end season, I believe this contributed to the issue where not having made a dinner reservation meant that no restaurants were available. The only dining option without a reservation required waiting outside in the freezing winter air for an hour. While I was relieved to finally have a meal, it would have been helpful to receive prior information about such situations. (If I simply overlooked this information during the reservation process, I apologize.) It was such a wonderful hotel and being in an area with limited options made it slightly disappointing. For my next visit, I will make sure to complete reservations in advance.

    Relax and unwind.

    We enjoyed a spacious Room and had a relaxing time. For dinner, we chose tempura, which was freshly fried and crispy. The staff kindly recommended the best way to enjoy each ingredient, making it a delightful experience. The only downside was that it was too cold to use the private open-air bath attached to the Room.

    The Room upgrade was...

    The Room upgrade was appreciated, but transferring elevators on the 5th floor was inconvenient. The hallway being partially outdoors made it cold during movement, and I couldn't do without a coat even inside the facility. To reach the large public bath, you have to go outside, which can be challenging on rainy days or in winter. The herbal bath provided towel rentals, so there was no need to bring one from the Room, which was convenient. There were always staff cleaning, keeping it clean and pleasant to use. Pajamas and indoor wear were provided and were very comfortable. For dinner at Sanpi-Ryoron, not only was the food content and taste excellent but also its location near the large public bath was convenient. Breakfast was chosen as a buffet; being on the top floor raised expectations for a view but none could be seen. The variety of dishes offered felt limited, and having only an hour felt rushed. With options like egg over rice sets (Tamago Kake Gohan), Ureshino Tofu meals, bread with coffee at various shops available next time will be something to look forward to!

    Overall satisfied, but...

    Stayed in a twin room with my pet. Check-in was very crowded, and I had to stand and wait for about 30 minutes. Improvement is needed. Luggage carrying is self-service, which might leave questions for those seeking hospitality. The facility is spacious, but the distance to the onsen is quite far, which was a bit disappointing. However, the onsen facility had a great atmosphere and was very relaxing. For meals, we chose an Italian restaurant that allows pets, and the staff were very friendly with excellent service and delicious food—would love to visit again!

    Stylish and clean. The hotel staff were incredibly kind and accommodating, even when the kids were noisy. The service was outstanding. We’ll definitely come back next year!

    A Journey to Ise Jingu

    The innovative design of the Hotel was refreshing. The bath was also clean. It was a bit disappointing that the sauna opened at 10 AM; I wished it could be available from 6 AM like the bath. The eel kaiseki dinner and the breakfast with bonito-flavored egg rice were both very delicious, and I would love to have them again.

    Although not an Onse...

    Although not an Onsen, I was intrigued by the herbal baths and decided to try them for the first time. In Kansai, there are few accommodations with natural hot spring water directly flowing from the source, so I thought this type of experience could be interesting. There were three types of herbal baths, each with a different scent and texture, which I enjoyed. The facility was quite far from my room, but it was helpful that towels and bath towels were provided at the reception so I could go empty-handed. However, there were no amenities like cleansing products, face wash, or lotion in the washroom area, which was inconvenient. For a hotel or facility offering day-use bathing of this class, it was surprising to find such a lack of amenities. For dinner at NOUNIYELL, we had an Italian full-course meal that matched our tastes perfectly; everything was delicious. Breakfast at Kasaan featured plenty of rice but felt lacking in side dishes. The broth tasted excellent on its own without being used for tai chazuke. The room was functional and comfortable to stay in overall. However, the geta-style sandals provided (with thong straps) were very uncomfortable and made walking to the bathhouse challenging due to its distance from my room. The tea offered as part of the beverages came from local sources and had a delightful aroma; it tasted wonderful as well! While some amenities were included in single-use portions only—insufficient given how often we bathed (four times before checkout)—I expected bottle-type options if nothing else would be available near bathing areas themselves. Overall though: My stay proved enjoyable & satisfying!

    The Facility was spacious, which made it a bit difficult to navigate at times, but it was very clean and well-equipped with amenities, making for a satisfying stay. The meals were delicious and the portions were just right. If I had to make one suggestion, it would be to design the pathway from the Onsen Facility to the Hotel in a way that shields guests from outside air. This could help prevent getting chilled after enjoying the Onsen on cold days.

    First Time at VISON

    I arrived before check-in time but was able to complete the check-in process and received the key for the Room, which I could access after 3 PM. Since the building is located on a slope, there are elevators and escalators, but also many stairs, which might not be comfortable for those with mobility issues. The meals were enjoyable with various famous restaurants available. On my way back, I was satisfied as I could purchase local ingredients.

    I stayed at the accommodation I had been curious about for a while! At check-in, I was offered an upgrade and got a room with a jacuzzi. Thank you very much. The facility was clean and minimal, which made my stay very comfortable. Although I encountered the cleaning staff upon entering the room due to delayed cleaning, the room was tidy and well-organized. For dinner, I chose Spanish cuisine but was initially told it was fully booked. After insisting that I had made a reservation, they allowed me in. However, since there were important guests present, the staff seemed rushed and created an uncomfortable atmosphere—not ideal for enjoying a quiet meal. It felt unacceptable. Despite requesting an upgraded menu in advance, what arrived was tough meat that seemed poorly prepared. When asked about this discrepancy with the menu provided (which showed only basic course options), they vaguely explained that it varies by day—leaving me confused about what exactly we were served. Finally, as part of the "upgraded" meal offering came a small bowl of beef rice—a surprising choice for Spanish cuisine—which left me disappointed overall given how much we paid. Breakfast also lacked variety; miso soup turned out to be one of few highlights worth mentioning. The hotel itself is excellent; however next time I'll opt-out from dining services altogether during my stay here!

    Accommodation with two dogs

    We arrived earlier than the reception hours, around 2 PM, but we were able to complete the check-in process and received an explanation about the Facility. When we brought our luggage on a cart to the reception ourselves, we were informed that Hotel staff would place it in our Room for us, so we took a walk and explored places like the market. The Room was very clean and had a fresh atmosphere, making it comfortable to use. However, moving with our dog either in a cart or carrying them felt a bit challenging... It would have been nice if leashes were allowed. For dinner, it was helpful that we could travel by bus while holding our dog to reach pet-friendly restaurants. The bathroom in the Room was pleasant to use as well; additionally, I used the large bath in the morning—it was very spacious and relaxing. Although I occasionally heard dogs barking, there were no sounds from upstairs or footsteps in the hallway, allowing both us and our dog to relax comfortably.

    On your way back from Ise Jingu

    Stayed here after visiting Ise Jingu. The first impression was overwhelming due to the large appearance of the accommodation. The design of the hotel felt a bit unusual... My husband, being a smoker, found it very inconvenient to go all the way to the designated smoking area. Since there was only one smoking spot in this large hotel and it required going outside, he couldn't relax in loungewear inside. The meals were enjoyable with various options to choose from, but having an early meal time made it difficult to fully enjoy strolling and eating around as planned. After dinner, most shops closed early, leaving no time for further exploration—this was quite frustrating. The facility is spacious, which made it physically challenging after visiting Ise Jingu. It highlighted the importance of proper preparation for efficiency during such trips. The room was clean and comfortable for a pleasant stay.

    Safe and comfortable for families with babies.

    During the reservation, we were able to request and borrow a baby crib, Milton sterilizer, and diaper disposal bin. Additionally, although we did not borrow it this time, we were informed during the reservation that a baby bath was also available. Thanks to these amenities, we had a comfortable stay even with a baby.
