It was sophisticated, and I was very satisfied.
I visited in mid-August, at the height of summer. Two of us stayed in a Corner Balcony Room. From the moment we entered the Hotel, a wonderful fragrance filled the air, and we were welcomed by a lounge with high ceilings that made us excited for our stay. There is a café and bar inside the Hotel, and above all, we were thrilled to enjoy a welcome sweet: Sadaharu Aoki Paris mini afternoon tea. As we were tired, it was truly appreciated that we could relax in the guest-only lounge and enjoy sparkling wine and other drinks along with appetizer-like bites that changed every few dozen minutes—everything could be enjoyed without ever leaving the Hotel. When we entered our Room, the curtains on the large windows unique to this Corner Balcony automatically opened, revealing the view. In the morning as well, we could open them automatically and watch the light pour in. It was a beautiful Room where we could enjoy three different views of Kyoto: sunset, night scenery, and morning. We had such a wonderful time that it made us want to book a Multiple Night Stay next time.

The start of a 3-night staycation
Kyoto Staycation (3 nights / 4 days) Day 1: The Royal Park Hotel Iconic Kyoto Day 2: Hotel Granvia Kyoto Day 3: Umekoji Potel KYOTO I was excited to start my lounge-access Hotel stay, but I was disappointed. It used to be served as a one-plate set with cute small bowls, but the one-plate service is gone and it has become a fully buffet-style setup that felt hastily put together. I chose this as the first Accommodation of the three because I heard I could stay at a good price, but if it’s “cheap and poor,” it loses its appeal. As someone who has stayed here since it first opened, this feels like an unfortunate change. I left the Hotel hoping for better on Day 2.

An urban oasis!
This was my first stay here. The Room we stayed in had a corner balcony, and the sense of openness was wonderful. It felt even more spacious than its 50 m², and although it faced the main street, the noise from cars and motorcycles was minimal, so we could relax comfortably. Unfortunately, we couldn’t enjoy afternoon tea due to our schedule, but my partner checked in earlier and seemed to fully enjoy it—highly praising it. The amenities were well stocked, and overall satisfaction was high. Breakfast was delicious; the salad was fresh, and the original egg dishes were great. I would have liked a few more Japanese options, but overall it felt sufficient. It’s a Hotel that makes you want to stay again if you get the chance. One small downside: the bed frame extended beyond the mattress, and I bumped my shin on the corner a few times... Even so, I’ll definitely be back. Thank you for a wonderful time.

A Relaxing Hotel
In addition to the convenient location, I always feel relaxed thanks to the Room’s atmosphere and cleanliness. There are many Hotels, but this one is my favorite.

Both the Room and the lounge were great.
The Room was spacious and clean, which was great. The lounge was also large, and the afternoon tea sweets were delicious. During cocktail time, they offered draft beer, bottled beer, sparkling wine, red and white wine, and sake, which was excellent. For a lounge available to all guests, the quality was very high. It’s close to the station, with restaurants and a supermarket nearby as well, making it very convenient. I would consider making this my regular Accommodation in Kyoto.

Very satisfied with the hospitality
I made a Reservation because I was drawn to the Sadaharu Aoki sweets at afternoon tea. It was even better than expected—stylish, delicious, and wonderful. Cocktail time in the evening was great. As someone who enjoys drinks, I loved that there were snacks, plenty of alcohol options, and my favorite sparkling wine—it was all delicious. And the large public bath: I happened to go when no one else was there, so I could relax as if it were private. If I had to mention one thing, it would have been even better if—like an Onsen Ryokan—there were amenities such as bath towels (not just a hair dryer), makeup remover, basic skincare items, toothbrushes, combs, and cotton pads. For breakfast, you can choose one egg dish from fried eggs, scrambled eggs, or an omelet. I chose the omelet. It was fluffy and creamy. Rice with salted mackerel—this mackerel was rich and absolutely excellent. There were also several kinds of bread that all looked delicious. But I put the omelet on top of steamed rice instead—and that was amazing too. The minestrone soup was very tasty as well; I would have been even happier if there had been miso soup. Still, I enjoyed the yogurt and sweets too and left completely satisfied. I truly enjoyed a relaxing trip in Kyoto. The street-level city scenery around the property was lovely as well. The Room was clean, and various amenities were well provided. You can check how busy the bath and laundry are on the in-room TV. The location is very convenient for getting around Kyoto city—perfect for going anywhere—and it’s also very close to Karasuma Oike Station, which really helped. I would definitely like to visit again. Thank you very much.

Escape the Kyoto heat at the Hotel
I arrived at the Hotel in 10 minutes by bicycle from home. The Hotel entrance is on the west side (Higashi-no-Toin Street). After check-in, I enjoyed tea time in the lounge on the 2nd floor. The zelkova street trees along Oike Street are soothing to the eyes. There was no loud chorus of cicadas. The area around the Hotel has many high-rise apartments and commercial buildings, so you shouldn’t expect much of a view from the rooms. A 12-story apartment building is under construction just to the north. There are many local clinics and bakeries nearby. Lounge: Tea time is limited to 1 hour, and cocktail time to 1.5 hours, so it doesn’t feel very relaxing. 1st-floor dining room: It’s fun watching people walk along Oike Street through the large windows. Maybe about half are foreigners? Guest room: Unisex pajama pants are provided, but there is no desk, which makes using a laptop inconvenient. There is no bathrobe. Public bath: I used it right after check-in and again after 9 a.m. the next day, and it was not crowded both times.

We’re happy to offer a lounge.
Maybe it’s been about four years since it opened? Everything was very clean, and the Room was spacious and comfortable. Unlike a renovated Hotel, it had a smart, no-frills design, was spotless, and felt very welcoming. The only downside is the location: there’s an apartment building directly across the street, so we kept the curtains closed and couldn’t really enjoy a view—but that wasn’t an issue for us. The best part by far was the lounge. Right after check-in there’s afternoon time, where we could relax with sweets and drinks. From 5:00 PM it switches to cocktail time. There were lots of cheeses, plus simple appetizers, wine, sparkling wine, beer, and various liqueurs—so many options it was hard to choose. I also loved that they used real glassware instead of disposable cups; many places use paper cups and that really kills the mood. There’s no parking at the Hotel. We were lucky that a nearby Times lot had space, but it only has six spots and is often full. It’s a bit pricey at 2,200 yen but very close. Around here there aren’t many lots with a “24 hours after parking” rate system, which is probably the biggest drawback. Still, overall we were very satisfied with our stay at the Hotel and would like to use it again.

No reply needed.
Memo Here, the rule for requesting a sheet change is to place a round plate on the bed—opposite of what most places do. Since I put up with damp sheets on the first day, I of course asked to have them changed. No breakfast, and I planned to sleep until 11:00, but from 9:00 there were voices going around saying “housekeeping.” It felt like a strong intention not to let guests sleep. Strangely, there was none at all on the third day. It interfered with my plans for the second day. For Canvas, they checked quietly and slipped in a paper silently—proper and considerate service. I got tired of the lounge after the first day. At checkout on the third day, although it usually gets colder right before leaving, it still felt lukewarm even at 23°C. The lounge was cold enough to feel chilly. The body soap smells like a medicated compress.

Perfect for staying and enjoying the city.
I stayed for two nights and was able to enjoy the area entirely on foot without using public transportation. You can walk to the Prefectural Museum and the Manga Museum. Many places make great use of historic architecture, so it’s especially enjoyable for anyone interested in buildings. The museum café that repurposes the former Bank of Japan vault is also fun. The renovated city hall, which preserves its old structure, is wonderful as well—designed as a relaxing space for residents, with elevators decorated in a very Kyoto style. Rokkakudo (a sacred place for ikebana), Nijo Castle, Shinsenen Garden, and Honnoji Temple are also within walking distance. There are plenty of lovely cafés and long-established Japanese sweets shops too—overall, it’s simply a fantastic location. At the Hotel, you can also enjoy afternoon tea as well as evening snacks and drinks, so I think the best way to use it is to take breaks by walking back to the Hotel between outings. Breakfast was delicious while watching people pass by outside. The Room is spacious, and it’s great that the bath area is separate. (Some people may mind that it has glass walls...) As for the large public bath, I didn’t feel like going twice during my stay.

Check-in
At check-in, a man gave a polite explanation, but although it was a normal conversation, a woman interrupted from behind and snapped unnecessary remarks. Maybe that’s “Kyoto-like,” if you want to put it that way. The Room felt more like a Vacation Rental. I even wondered if the door was for an emergency staircase. The sheets also felt slightly damp. I prefer the Campus series, including the cleanliness. Still, I was able to go at night to my favorite Mexican restaurant and the Marimekko exhibition, so overall it was okay.

It was delicious.
We had breakfast. The Japanese set didn’t have many items, but the fish and the rice with dashi were delicious. The cake we had in the lounge was a little small, but it was excellent.

Lower floors are not recommended.
I booked a Deluxe King, but the Room was on the third floor with a poor view and was not very comfortable. I recommend making your Reservation through the official website.

Some of the inclusions are truly appealing!
We enjoyed the Hotel stay with afternoon tea, drinks, and alcohol-free time since we live nearby! During drink time, it was a little disappointing that there is a time limit because there are many guests. We wouldn’t stay long anyway, but it would be nice if we could bring at least soft drinks back to our Room. Breakfast was crowded too, but it was delicious—there was a choice of one dish, fruit, and Shinshindo bread. The drink time until 11:00 also allowed us to relax comfortably right up until check-out.

It was extremely comfortable.
This Hotel is just a short subway ride from Kyoto Station, and access to temples and other sights was excellent. There are many wonderful restaurants nearby, which made our stay especially memorable. The hospitality and service within the Hotel were outstanding, and on a hot Kyoto afternoon we were able to relax and fully enjoy afternoon tea in the lounge. Although I had learned from Reviews in advance that there would be no Japanese breakfast options, there was actually ochazuke, which delighted both me and my children. Thank you very much. The large public bath was small but very soothing for our tired bodies after walking around all day. The room was truly quiet—we never heard any noise from other guests at all. It was extremely comfortable. Just one point: at times, the air conditioning in the lounge and restaurant felt a bit strong.

Towels
Each guest was provided with only one hand towel and one bath towel, which felt insufficient for morning, afternoon, and evening use. There were no bathrobes either. Although the large public bath was open during the available hours, the water dispenser was out of service. This could be a concern, especially in summer.

It was very comfortable.
My impression was that you provide minimal yet high-quality service at a fair price. I had no complaints about the Facility (the elevator that only stops on the guest’s floor when using the key card each time added a sense of security), and there were no issues with soundproofing. The amenities were more than sufficient (the herbal scent left a great impression), everything felt clean, and the meals were streamlined with no waste yet truly delicious. I only had a short time to use the lounge, but it was very comfortable and relaxing. Since my son lives in this city, I stay at Hotels in Kyoto several times a year and choose a different one each time, but this was one of the top-ranked Hotels for me. I would love to visit again. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

A perfectly located city Hotel for sightseeing in Kyoto.
I stayed mainly for the Sadaharu Aoki sweets available in the guest-only lounge. Great location—10 minutes by train from Kyoto Station and just steps from Karasuma Oike Station. The area is perfect for strolling around and enjoying a very Kyoto-like atmosphere. Since it’s along a busy street, it can’t be helped that you can hear traffic noise until late at night. The Hotel is new, clean, and well stocked with amenities. The sweets and cocktail time in the guest-only lounge were also delicious. I would have been even happier if there had been some light snacks like nuts or chocolate as well. Overall, I felt it was an excellent base Hotel.

Poor service from the staff during afternoon tea.
This is a very stylish Hotel overall, and it’s a relaxing place where you can spend your time without having to go outside even on hot days, so I stay for a Multiple Night Stay. Unfortunately, something disappointing happened. On the third day of my Multiple Night Stay, a staff member asked me, “Will you eat cake?” I was stunned. That Room is where you go to have cake. What surprised me even more was that the next day, another female staff member asked me, “Will you have cake again today?” I froze, and since there were several people lined up behind me, I held back. “Again today?” left me stunned once more. We had been told to have it every day during our Multiple Night Stay, so it was disappointing that such a major Hotel seems not to provide proper staff training—this doesn’t feel like what you’d expect from a Japanese Hotel.

Relaxing at a Hotel to Celebrate My Mother’s Birthday
Right after arriving, we enjoyed tea time with Sadaharu Aoki petit cakes and macarons. Just as the Reviews said, everything was delicious. The champagne at cocktail time was excellent, and the selection of snacks and dishes was even better than the Reviews suggested. Not only was the breakfast omelet great, but the ochazuke was also delicious. We would definitely like to visit again.

This is a very beaut...
This is a very beautiful Hotel. The front desk and lounge staff provided excellent service. We made a Reservation with No Meals Included. We checked in early and enjoyed a relaxing, stylish afternoon tea in the lounge. The Room had glass walls and felt clean and modern. During the evening cocktail time, there was a wide selection of alcoholic drinks and snacks, and even though we don’t drink, we were very satisfied. The bath area was not crowded, so we could unwind comfortably. We will definitely return.

Wonderful Hotel
The afternoon tea after check-in, the evening bar time, and the guest lounge were all excellent. Breakfast was also great—the omelet was fluffy and delicious. The Room amenities were comfortable to use as well. The pajamas and bed in particular were so cozy that I slept extremely well, even while traveling. The large public bath had only a few washing stations, so many people were waiting, but the in-room bath is very nice, so I think either option would be comfortable.

A Pleasant Hotel
The staff at the front desk, lounge, and breakfast service were exceptionally hospitable, making my stay very comfortable. Including the overall clientele, this was a truly wonderful Hotel with nothing to fault, and I’m grateful to have been able to stay at such an affordable rate. However, it was disappointing that the glass had a slight odor. I would also be happy if breakfast offered a few more options.

The layout made it easy to get around.
Upgrading to a more spacious Room was the right choice. The club lounge felt a bit casual, and I think I could have relaxed more if the sofa layout had been planned a little better. The Room was very comfortable and easy to use, so I’d like to stay again, but I’m unsure because I didn’t find the club lounge very relaxing.

The lounge is comfortable.
Being able to relax with afternoon tea and drinks in the lounge was wonderful. There is a wide selection of beer and wine, so it’s a great place for those who enjoy alcohol. However, the snack selection is limited. The Room had a simple design and was comfortable, so I could relax and unwind. The bathtub was large and very comfortable. The breakfast was disappointing and not worth the price; I had high expectations, so it was a letdown. Next time, I think I’ll skip breakfast. I’d like to have coffee and enjoy the morning, so I wish the lounge opened a little earlier.

Enjoy the lounge.
We stayed for a “staycation” to celebrate my husband’s birthday. We had lunch at the first-floor restaurant, and although it was about an hour early, we were kindly allowed to check in. It was extremely hot, so we were able to stay cool and comfortable while using the lounge. I enjoyed a relaxing bath, then spent more time in the lounge enjoying a variety of drinks and snacks. Breakfast was wonderful—especially the salad. I’m keeping the celebratory scented sachet in my wallet and enjoying its fragrance. Thank you very much.

My favorite Hotel—I can’t wait to stay again!
This was my second stay, and it’s a highly recommended Hotel with great value. The guest-only lounge is especially wonderful.\nAt afternoon tea, you can enjoy sweets from Sadaharu AOKI Paris Karasuma Oike. As if that weren’t enough, during cocktail time they also offer snacks plus drinks including wine, beer, and other alcoholic beverages.\nI’d love to keep staying at this Hotel for a long time to come. I love Kyoto!
