    Employees...

    We stayed as a family this time and chose Shiki no Yakata Hakone Ashinoko because we could bring our pet. First, the quality of the Onsen was excellent. Additionally, the view from the guest room was beautiful. However, it was disappointing that the staff during meals seemed inexperienced, which made the dining experience feel less enjoyable. Overall, I would rate it 3 stars, but with improvements in staff training and meal quality, this Hotel has great potential due to its cleanliness and high-quality Onsen.

    We stayed in a room ...

    We stayed in a room where pets are allowed with our two dogs. The room was clean, and pet supplies were well-prepared. The meals were very delicious. During dinner, the bread was served hot, and my husband even had two refills. The staff kindly asked if we were worried about our dogs during the meal. I usually prefer hot water for Onsen, but I realized that soaking in about 40°C water is actually better for relaxation. I used the Onsen in the room in the morning and enjoyed a long, soothing soak. The staff treated us warmly, making it a delightful trip to Hakone!

    The meals were delicious.

    I stayed for one night with my mother. The room was clean, the open-air bath was pleasant, and we were able to relax. Additionally, the dinner was very delicious. However, it was disappointing that there were no towels in the large public bath (there seemed to be a place for them, so perhaps it has been discontinued?). Also, the shuttle service to Odawara Station did not align well with check-in and check-out times (especially in the morning when departures seemed quite early).

    Completely satisfied!

    We stayed in a pet-friendly room. The room was very clean, and the pet amenities were well-prepared, so bringing only food was sufficient. Our amenities were also excellent, and both dinner and breakfast were delicious and filling. The staff members were all kind and thoughtful, making it a wonderful Onsen accommodation. We would love to visit again.

    Second Visit

    This is my second visit, having previously stayed during autumn and been impressed by the beautiful scenery and excellent service from the staff. This time, I visited during the lush green season and was once again grateful for the exceptional hospitality that exceeded my previous experience.

    It was the best vacation ever.

    I stayed with my husband and our miniature schnauzer, James. It was such a relaxing space that one night felt too short. In the early morning, I enjoyed the open-air bath surrounded by a sea of clouds and birdsong, which created an extraordinary atmosphere. Moreover, the Onsen's effects were remarkable—my tired skin regained its elasticity and became smooth! The amenities were abundant, the air in the room was fresh, and everything was impeccably clean, making for a very comfortable stay. Dinner prepared by Chef Shinozaki featured a creative French kaiseki course. The sauces were exceptional, perfectly highlighting the flavors of each ingredient. The main dish of Yamayuri beef was cooked to perfection—tender and beautifully glossy. The staff members were incredibly friendly and many seemed to love dogs. Even James, who usually plays it cool, couldn't resist getting close to greet them. After a year since our last visit to Lake Ashi, we feel like we've discovered a new haven of relaxation. We look forward to returning for more delicious meals and magical Onsen experiences. Thank you very much!

    Looking forward to next time!

    We stayed for the first time as a family with two pets. Having stayed at various accommodations in Hakone, I found the hot spring water here to be exceptionally soft and among the best in Hakone. The meals were all incredibly delicious, exceeding my expectations. If I had to point out one thing, the property is divided into two buildings, and since there is no indoor connection to the large bath or restaurant, moving around in loungewear or light clothing might be challenging during winter. However, they thoughtfully provide warm outerwear at the exits. We are already planning our next visit!

    It exceeded expectations.

    A hilltop accommodation overlooking Lake Ashi. I had been curious about it for a long time and finally managed to complete the reservation. The result exceeded all expectations—the view from the room, the private open-air onsen, the cuisine, and the hospitality of the staff were all exceptional. The guest room was 41 square meters. It felt slightly smaller than expected from the number, but with twin beds and a spacious sofa in a well-designed living area, it was very functional. Above all, the private onsen in our room stood out. The onsen had a slight sulfur scent and seemed to be adjusted to around 42°C—perfect for an open-air bath with water that retained warmth well after bathing. Having experienced onsens in Yumoto, Gora, and Sengokuhara before, this was my first time trying an onsen near Lake Ashi—and I dare say it might be one of Hakone's best onsens! Dinner was served in two shifts at 5:30 PM or 7:45 PM; we chose the earlier slot. It was casual French cuisine with chopsticks provided—both variety and taste were excellent! Towards the end of dinner service, we were greeted by a surprisingly young head chef who left quite an impression. Thanks to registering via LINE or perhaps choosing an earlier dinner slot, we received complimentary freshly baked canelés delivered as room service at 10 PM—a delightful touch! Additionally, during breakfast service where hotel-made jam stood out as particularly delicious—we purchased some at their shop post-meal and picked them up upon checkout only to find they had generously included hotel-made curry as a complimentary gift. With such thoughtful gestures throughout our stay—it feels like we must return again someday! Next time we'd love visiting during green season. Thank you so much for everything!

    It suddenly changed from rain to snow.

    The reservation was made at the last minute as we were unsure about going due to the rain on our planned stay date. However, upon arriving in Hakone, the rain turned into snow, which surprised us. Since we had summer tires, we were very anxious about returning home, but decided to enjoy the snowy scenery instead. Soaking in the onsen of our room's open-air bath while it was snowing was an unforgettable experience and truly wonderful. Of course, being able to return safely the next day was a relief, and having a late check-out after snow removal had settled down was incredibly valuable. Thank you to the hotel staff for clearing the snow in front of our car!

    Are solo trips for seniors (70 years and older) not welcomed?

    Approximately 50 minutes by shuttle service from Odawara Station. Despite being a weekday, we encountered two traffic jams, which delayed our arrival. Exhausted upon arrival, the driver kindly helped with our luggage, but there was no assistance to bring it to the room from the lobby, so I carried it myself. The room was clean and offered a view of Lake Ashi on the right side of the window. Complimentary snacks included octopus crackers and sweets. As a Diamond Member, I expected a fruit platter; however, what I found in the refrigerator was more like scraps of fruit arranged together, which I decided not to eat. When inquiring about lunch for the next day, I was told there were no nearby options and that I'd need to take a bus or taxi to Moto-Hakone. However, reaching the bus stop involved navigating steep slopes unsuitable for someone with weak legs like mine. While taxis could be called for pickup at the accommodation, securing one for return trips seemed challenging as per their advice—this posed another issue. Upon asking if they could provide any meal at all on-site after some consultation they offered spaghetti for ¥3,500; reluctantly agreed ordering it eventually served alongside medium-sized scallop pieces cabbage soup salad leaves though grateful nonetheless. Dinner seating arrangements placed us away despite available window-side tables inside instead portions overall smaller three main dishes first two bite-sized final venison roast three bites filling up required consuming bread breakfast omelet average lacked milk disappointing second-night dinner tastier surprisingly different chef prepared scrambled eggs nearly liquid minimal solid parts appreciated most rainy departure request promptly dispatched shuttle best service provided

    Onsen + Authentic French Cuisine

    The private open-air bath in the room had perfectly adjusted water temperature, allowing us to enjoy it anytime without worrying about the time, which was very convenient. The main bath was cozy and almost felt like a private experience, with a sauna available as well. Although it was a bit of a walk from the room, I think I used it twice in one day. The French cuisine was outstanding, and we were deeply moved when the chef came out to greet us at the end. Typically, Onsen Ryokans offer mostly Japanese meals or buffet-style Western dishes, so having high-quality French cuisine was unique and delightful. We stayed for two nights, and they changed the menu for each dinner, making it an incredibly satisfying dining experience. The staff providing service were all kind and friendly. Additionally, the freshly baked bread was absolutely delicious! Overall, this is an accommodation that makes you want to return again without hesitation—highly recommended!

    A view with a sense of openness

    A Hotel located on a high platform. The pet-friendly Room is very bright and clean. From the private open-air bath in the guest Room, you can enjoy a view of Lake Ashi, filled with a sense of openness. It would be perfect if the bathwater were free of chlorine smell and flowing naturally. The food is beautifully presented and delicious. The inquiry about the message on the birthday plate beforehand was touching and left a deep impression.

    Hard and Soft

    Thank you for your hospitality. We visited with our family. We have stayed at Shiki no Yakata Nasu twice before and it was very good, so we used it this time. In terms of facilities, we were very satisfied with the room, bath, amenities, etc. Unfortunately, the staff at the dining area tended to forget things a bit, so it didn't go smoothly. It was an early meal time from 5:30 PM, but the food was served quickly. Our family likes alcohol, so we wanted to enjoy white wine and red wine slowly. We hope for improvements in the future.

    I want to visit again.

    I went with my dog! Anyway, the dog amenities are well-equipped. Also, thank you very much for your kind hospitality! The service and food are truly excellent!     Couple's Trip

    The view of Lake Ashi from the room with an open-air bath and the dining area is wonderful. The French cuisine, which is rare for a Hakone Onsen Stays, was very delicious. The welcome fruits and post-meal canelé were also nice. However, it was disappointing that the onsen was not a natural hot spring flow.

    Art Museum

    There was a special exhibition at the Okada Museum of Art, and we stayed for two nights at this highly-rated Stays. The property, built by an architectural manufacturer, features a modern entrance, carpeted corridors, silver braille blocks at the stairway entrance, stone stairs, a large bath with an open-air bath, sauna, and cold bath, complimentary vinegar juice (very delicious) and sherbet, and Japanese paintings and calligraphy by Masakatsu Goma displayed throughout the property, with two pieces and a booklet in the guest room. True to its catchphrase, it is a "museum you can stay at." The open-air bath in the guest room provided a soothing experience as we gazed at Lake Ashi illuminated by the rising morning sun in the clear air. The meals were Western-style, highlighting the ingredients, with a sufficient portion size and a glass of alcohol. Additionally, sweet canelé pastries were delivered to the room around 7 PM. The sauces and soups were all mild and very satisfying. For breakfast, you could choose between scrambled eggs or an omelet, with a variety of small portions available. The plates were stylish, and additional bread orders were possible. The staff were pleasant and provided courteous service. There was a jazz CD set up in the guest room, but it would have been better if the internet TV was connected. The grade of the shampoo and conditioner could be improved, so I used my own. On the second day, they changed the main course of the meal, but the impression of change seemed subtle. The taste was excellent. Overall, I think it was a very high-quality Stays. It seems there are other properties in the same group, so I would like to visit again.

    Hotel with excellent service

    I revisited this year following last year. This is my second visit. The location is a pet-friendly Hotel built overlooking Lake Ashi. The price is a bit high, but I always have a pleasant stay for the following reasons: ① Pet-friendly, ② The French cuisine is well-prepared and delicious, ③ The service is attentive. Pet-friendly Hotels are generally not very clean, but this one is quite clean. Moreover, the French cuisine is quite elaborate and of a high standard. Above all, there are many senior staff members, providing a stable service reminiscent of their past experiences, which is very satisfying. I will visit again somewhere this year.

    Comfortable travel

    The shuttle service from Odawara Station to Hotel Shiki no Yakata and back made this trip very comfortable, and the autumn leaves were also very beautiful. The meals were several times more delicious than the French cuisine at the hotel in Atami. The staff's service was excellent, and since we had requested a wheelchair, they prepared a nearby seat at the dining area for us. Thank you very much. I would like to visit again soon, but as Hakone will be a bit cold from now on, I will visit again in the spring.

    The facility is clea...

    The facility is clean. The Onsen in the private open-air bath in the guest room was also good. Dinner was well-balanced and very delicious. I even had a second helping of bread. Some hotels allow you to choose your own appetizers and main dishes, but I prefer it when the chef assembles a full course like here, as it feels more cohesive as a course. You can choose from S, M, and L sizes for the samue, but the pajamas were one-size-fits-all.

    Our Family Villa

    I am visiting various dog-friendly hotels with my beloved Malpoo. Among the hotels where you can go with dogs, this hotel is the best in every aspect and I like it very much, so I visit Ashinoko and Sengokuhara alternately every month. The Onsen is great, and the cuisine alternates between French and Japanese, so you never get bored. The staff are also pleasant, and it's a hotel I don't want too many dog lovers to know about.

    My first trip to Hakone

    This was my first trip to Hakone. I found this hotel online and decided to stay here because of the good reviews. There was a shuttle service from the station, and the staff provided excellent service. The private open-air bath in the room was amazing, and I used it many times, haha. Above all, the food was incredibly delicious, and they even prepared a complimentary birthday plate for me, making it the best trip to Hakone. Thank you very much. Next time, I would like to bring my beloved dog along.

    This was my second s...

    This was my second stay. I was especially satisfied with the delicious French dinner. I was with my beloved dog, and all the staff were very friendly. Unfortunately, it was raining, but overlooking Lake Ashi shrouded in mist was quite nice. The parking lot is easy to park in, and you can also charge an EV car, so it's reassuring. (An additional 1,000 yen per night) I will definitely use it again when I visit Hakone.
