    Newly Renovated

    Good points: Delicious meals, excellent service by Nepalese staff, new Room. Bad points: Old bathroom, rough towels, noisy air conditioner, hard toilet paper. Please consider renovation.

    The free drinks were very enjoyable.

    I traveled to Fukui for business by private car and decided to stay at Awara Onsen for a two-night stay since I had the car with me. Although I have stayed at accommodations in Awara Onsen before, please forgive me for making comparisons with this ryokan. The parking lot is very spacious, making it suitable for those traveling by private car. The previous accommodation I stayed at was located in the city center and had limited parking spaces. As for the bath, there was a very large public bath, and the open-air onsen was clean and comfortable. Regarding meals, on the first night, it felt like a meal prepared for group tours and didn’t quite match the relatively high accommodation cost. However, on the second night, everything was more refined. The portion sizes were just right—not overwhelmingly large as is often seen in ryokans—allowing us to finish everything while feeling pleasantly full. During our stay, free drinks were available throughout, so we never had any issues with beverages. High-quality alcoholic drinks were also provided. We stayed in a room with an open-air bath attached, which was also enjoyable. However, there were periodic pump noises during the night that might bother some guests. While comparing it to my previous stay where the baths were exceptional might be unfair, this facility still met satisfactory standards overall. If asked whether I would return again: It’s an option but not my top choice among accommodations in Awara Onsen.

    I will come again!

    Stay available from 2:00 PM check-in at the annex until after breakfast in the room the next day. Everything, including hospitality, meals, amenities, and the private open-air bath in the room, was exceptional. Meals included alcohol and other beverages, creating a luxurious and extraordinary experience. I will definitely come back again.

    Extremely Satisfied

    The Onsen in the room was clean and conveniently separated from the washing area. The water quality was refreshing and smooth, making it a very pleasant experience. We stayed for my husband's birthday, and they even sang a song for him. Choosing the anniversary Plan made my husband very happy. Since we were too full from dinner to eat the cake on the spot, they kindly prepared plates, forks, and other items so we could enjoy it in our room later. We are truly grateful. The meals were delicious, and we were extremely satisfied! Thank you very much!

    Meal Server

    I had a very relaxing time. I was surprised to find free drinks, including alcoholic beverages with meals. But the best part was the foreign staff who served the meals. Their attentiveness and communication were absolutely perfect.

    The room at Bettei M...

    The room at Bettei Miyu was spacious and comfortable, featuring a private open-air bath. The onsen and food were excellent. However, the service was disappointing, leaving us with mixed feelings about our stay. We mentioned that it was a celebration for my daughter's birthday, but all we received at the end was a box of tea sweets handed to me without any special acknowledgment or celebration. If you are considering staying here for a special occasion, I would not recommend it. When making the reservation, I requested that my daughter's meals avoid strong flavors such as spiciness, bitterness, or sourness; however, mustard-dressed appetizers were served as part of her meal without consideration for this request. It left us quite shocked.

    Enjoy a welcome café upon check-in and a bar at night. The garden is beautifully lit with steam for a magical ambiance. Choose your favorite yukata design, with no limit on the number you can select. Stay in our newly renovated Room, featuring spacious interiors, large beds, plush carpets, and the latest Facilities. The bathroom is state-of-the-art with soft, non-cold flooring. The bathtub fills quickly and drains efficiently. The stylish modern hairdryer dries your hair instantly and effortlessly. Meals are served in a large hall which may feel less private. While the dishes match the price point without an extraordinary touch, they were delicious overall. Unlimited drinks are included. Our staff provided attentive and courteous service throughout your stay!

    Universal Room

    I stayed in a Universal Room for a solo trip with a wheelchair. The room was spacious and convenient to use without any issues. However, the mattress on the bed was thin and hard, making it feel like sleeping on the floor. I couldn't sleep well because of this. When I peeked into other rooms during checkout, they had standard Hotel mattresses, so I hope the same ones can be used in Universal Rooms as well. Additionally, it would be great if the large public bath could also consider being more barrier-free.

    Highly Satisfied

    We visited for a birthday trip for our preschooler and our baby's first trip. The private open-air bath in the room was very relaxing, allowing us to enjoy the onsen at any time without worry since we had small children. We didn’t use the public bath, but having a bath in the room meant no extra effort of taking kids to the public bath, and I could enjoy a long, relaxing soak for the first time since giving birth. Our child also seemed to have fun in the room's bath. Since our older child is very active, we were concerned about mealtime arrangements but were relieved to have a private dining space where we could eat comfortably. When our baby developed a fever during the night, a gentleman at reception responded with great care and even looked up nearby hospitals just in case. Fortunately, we didn’t need to visit one, but his kindness was deeply appreciated. Overall, it was an excellent accommodation with wonderful service. We would love to visit again if given another opportunity—thank you so much!

    I was satisfied.

    I stayed during Golden Week and had a wonderful experience. The 12:00 checkout allowed for a relaxed morning without worrying about highway traffic. The meals were satisfying, with all drinks (including alcohol) offered as free drinks. The portion sizes were just right for us, and we enjoyed the Onsen in the private Room bath. Amenities included a lovely L'Occitane set, and the staff provided excellent service. I would love to stay again if given the opportunity!

    Enjoy a Fun Happy Hour

    Welcome drink & snacks Happy hour (alcohol) & nuts, etc. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Strolling through the garden, admiring the beauty of the koi fish, and enjoying feeding them were delightful experiences. This is an accommodation we would love to revisit!

    Snowy Scenery of Awara Onsen

    I stayed at Bettei Miyu. From the open-air bath in the room, I could see the snowy scenery, and the soft water warmed my cold body. The dinner was very delicious with fresh fish, including sashimi and grilled yellowtail collar. My husband was pleased with the free drinks, especially enjoying the sake. I would like to stay again in a different season with my elderly mother and husband.

    I was able to relax on my solo trip at a thoughtfully attentive Stays.

    I had planned to come with my spouse for our wedding anniversary, but my wife had to work, so I ended up traveling alone. I stayed in the Yukiyanagi Room at "Bettei Miyu." Since it was February and a cold wave had just arrived, there were few guests at Miyu, allowing for a quiet stay. The check-in process was done in the room, and afterward, I received a complimentary matcha cake and tea at the lobby's tea room called "Kaguya." Staying at Miyu comes with many perks, making for an enjoyable time. The room was very spacious, with an open-air bath, two powder rooms, and two toilets. All drinks in the refrigerator, including alcohol, were free, and the bed was comfortable for my bad back, allowing for a restful sleep. It was a room too luxurious for one person, but it provided a moment to forget the busy daily life. Dinner and breakfast were served in the room at a sunken kotatsu-style table by the garden window. The garden was beautifully lit up at night. The meals were all delicious, offering a taste of Awara Onsen. Here too, all drinks, including alcohol, were inclusive. I also enjoyed the sake "Okami," which can only be drunk at Awara Onsen. The exclusive lounge for Miyu guests was practically reserved for me. I quietly enjoyed wine with cheese and prosciutto. The open-air bath in the room was made of Shigaraki ware, exuding luxury. Outside, there was a fierce snowstorm, and occasionally snow would hit my face, but the open-air bath in such rare weather conditions was exceptional. Check-out was at 12:00, which was the latest check-out I have ever experienced, allowing for a relaxed morning without rushing. I shared a bit about the circumstances of this trip during check-in, and at check-out, a different front desk staff member from check-in congratulated me on my wedding anniversary, which truly moved me. It made me feel that they genuinely care for each guest by sharing their situations. The only disappointment was that between the morning of check-out and 12:00, two people who seemed to be staff walked in front of the garden visible from the room and exited from what appeared to be a side exit outside the room. I was in the middle of changing, so it was surprising. It might be better to refrain from such activities until after check-out. Although it was just one day, I received considerate and courteous service. Thank you very much. Next time, I would love to stay with my spouse.

    The crab course meal was disappointing.

    The satisfaction level apart from the food was high. However, the crab course for dinner, which was ordered with an additional charge, did not include crab sashimi, and the freshness of the crab was completely lacking. Despite being in a region known for crab, the meal was disappointing.

    Inclusive

    The Room comes with a private open-air bath, the Room is spacious, and the Facility is excellent. The taste and quality of the meals were average, but the inclusive drinks were very good. Overall, the satisfaction level is high.

    Well, I don't know.

    I made a reservation for three people, but there were only two floor chairs in the room, and I thought they forgot to bring one out, but all the necessary amenities were only for two people. The extra-large yukata was also out of stock, and although they responded to each issue, it didn't feel good right after arriving. I received a complimentary drink in the lobby, but when I tried to sit at an empty table, I was stopped and told that it was for paying customers, which further spoiled my mood. There weren't many chairs, and I couldn't place my drink anywhere. The large public bath on the second floor was in a dangerous situation as the steam made it hard to see. I wonder if the ventilation is poor. The grilled crab... it felt more like it was steamed rather than grilled. The foreign female staff member during the meal was earnestly doing her best.

    The Nepalese staff at the dining venue are exceptionally excellent.

    The room had a semi-open-air bath. It was always kept at just the right temperature, making it comfortable. The view was a tranquil rural landscape, which was very soothing. The room's bath was said to be "flowing," but I couldn't help but notice a chlorine smell, which bothered me. It might just be my imagination. The meals were held in a large hall, and I was amazed by the excellence of the two Nepalese staff members. Their conversation skills, attentiveness, and memory (such as remembering Multiple Night Stays) were impeccable. On the other hand, I wish the Japanese staff, including those at the front desk, would try harder. Despite it being a Multiple Night Stay, I was surprised when I returned from going out and was greeted with, "Welcome! Please proceed with the check-in here!" even though I had already left my key. I believe this wouldn't have happened if the Nepalese staff were at the front desk. I sincerely hope that the Nepalese staff are treated better than the Japanese staff.

    Delicious, relaxing, Onsen. We experienced an extraordinary time.

    It was my first trip to Fukui Prefecture with my elderly mother. Since we stayed in a separate villa, it was quiet and spacious, allowing us to enjoy the Onsen to the fullest. We could also leisurely enjoy our meals in the Room, which made my mother very happy. She repeatedly bathed in the open-air bath attached to the Room, which she called "marutaru" (round barrel), exclaiming how pleasant it was. The meals were delicious, and the staff were very pleasant, allowing us to dine with peace of mind. I was the one who took a lot of my mother's favorite fruits from the refrigerator with free drinks (laughs). I don't know how many more trips I can take with her as she turns 90 this year, but I am grateful to everyone for allowing us to spend such a precious time. Thank you very much.

    Second Stays

    Last time, it was our first trip together to put my mother on the Hokuriku Shinkansen. The drink-inclusive option was also attractive, so we selected a room with an onsen open-air bath, and unexpectedly, we were able to enjoy a private dinner room at a leisurely pace. This time, I'm repeating the stay with my husband to enjoy the drink-inclusive option. It was in a large hall, but it was lively and enjoyable. The meal unexpectedly included crab, and for a moment, I thought it might be a mistake, but given the season, everyone expects it, right? The foreign staff member in charge of our table was very dedicated, and I felt that information was being shared as they mentioned it was our second stay. This time, we also stayed in a room with an onsen open-air bath, and we relaxed in the open-air bath without using the large public bath. It's quite difficult to get a reservation, but I'd like to stay at the separate villa too.

    Room with Open-Air Bath

    Enjoyed the best snow crab and free-flowing Onsen. As expected from a Property that hosts the Ryuo Tournament, the Room and bath were clean and enjoyable. I have already made a Reservation for next month with family and friends, becoming a repeat visitor right away.

    A wonderful Stays where you can relax

    This year, I was able to relax and enjoy a crab feast and the open-air bath in the room. From arrival to departure, the wonderful smiles and hospitality of the staff were a great learning experience for me, as I am also in the service industry. The crab feast meal was very satisfying. The Onsen water was soft and allowed me to unwind. Thank you for always providing a wonderful time.

    As expected!

    This is my first Review! Everything, including the Facility, food, price, and service, was impeccable. For some reason, the checkout time was listed as 10:00 on IKYU, and I had planned accordingly, but on the day, I was informed at the front desk that it was 12:00, so I had to change my schedule suddenly... It was a pleasant surprise since I wanted to relax in the morning... I was very satisfied as I was able to greet the manager at checkout.

    You can enjoy free drinks.

    I took my 85-year-old mother with me, so we used a room with an open-air bath. It was convenient to enjoy the onsen without having to move. The spring quality has no distinctive features. The dining area for dinner (breakfast) is a large hall. There were dozens of seats. I was a bit surprised by the shared seating arrangement. The dinner venue had a beer server and free drinks. There were also non-alcoholic cans available. It seems that sparkling wine was also prepared on the lobby floor. We had reserved tagged Echizen crab for an additional charge. We didn't know it would be with everyone else... Our family was eating a large crab, so we were being stared at. During dinner, the female staff who served us was very considerate of my mother, and I am grateful. We were able to enjoy our meal very comfortably.

    The building felt a ...

    The building felt a bit old, but it was clean and I was able to relax. Also, with free drinks, I was able to enjoy without worrying about my wallet. I also enjoyed the open-air bath in the Room. However, it was disappointing that the main dish, crab, was not very tasty.

    I was very satisfied.

    We stayed as a family. The meals in the morning and evening were very delicious, and we were satisfied with everything we ate. The free drinks, including beer, were much appreciated. We didn't drink a lot, but considering the price, it was a good deal. The Room had just been renovated and was sparkling clean. The comfort of the bed was also excellent. It was nice to be able to watch YouTube on the TV. It would be nice to have chairs and a table, or a sofa in the Room, so you can sit down after a bath or use it when women do their makeup. I have back pain, and sitting on the bed for a long time makes my back hurt. But overall, it was perfect. The staff's service was also excellent.

    A traditional Japanese Stays

    Stayed for 2 nights in a Japanese-style room, which had a nostalgic Showa-era atmosphere. The Onsen had soft water, and since it was a weekday, I was able to enjoy a luxurious time with almost exclusive use. I opted for breakfast only without dinner, which was neither particularly good nor bad. There were many foreign staff, but their service level was so high that I was a bit surprised. Finally, I used the online checkout system via my smartphone, but only the fee for one night was displayed by default, and I had to later correct the billing amount over the phone. Considering the price of nearly 20,000 yen per night with breakfast, it left a slightly disappointing impression on the trip.
