We stayed for two nights. Being inside the Red Brick Warehouses, we could feel the history and relax at a leisurely pace. The staff were kind and provided helpful sightseeing information. We also joined the Fish Market Plan, and enjoyed fresh fish served as sashimi for breakfast. The kelp bath was a first-time experience for us, and it left our skin feeling wonderfully moisturized. If we ever visit Hakodate again, we would love to stay here again.

A wonderful Hotel with a Scandinavian atmosphere
This was my first stay, and I stayed in a wonderful Room renovated from a warehouse, where I could enjoy a Scandinavian atmosphere. Breakfast was also very stylish—cheese, bread, soup, and fruit—and I really enjoyed it. During my stay, the Hakodate fireworks festival happened to be on, so I was able to enjoy both the night sky and the night view of Hakodate. Over two days, I also went golfing during the daytime; it’s about 30–40 minutes from the Hotel, so I felt it’s perfect for a sightseeing + golf trip as well. All of the Hotel staff were very kind and attentive, and I truly appreciate all the explanations and advice they provided. I would definitely like to stay again.

Hotel at the Red Brick Warehouse
A Hotel seamlessly integrated into the Red Brick Warehouses. The design is outstanding, preserving the original character while offering modern, comfortable Accommodation. With an atmosphere unlike anything you have experienced before, this Accommodation lets you truly feel the historic charm of Hakodate. An ideal location for exploring the bay area. In addition, the staff’s attentive hospitality is particularly noteworthy.

Great location.
The location is excellent. Since the parking lot is some distance away, I would like more smooth assistance with handing over luggage at the entrance. I only had breakfast; the milk, bread, and terrine were delicious, but the table was set up behind the front desk from the day before, which made the dishes feel a bit unclean. The bed is good. The washroom is small, but there is a wide counter on the Room side where you can place toiletries, so it is convenient to use. The entire guest Room is dark, making it hard to read a guidebook. I had requested extra towels, but they were not replenished; however, there were enough at first so I managed.

The biggest draw is ...
The biggest draw is its one-of-a-kind location within the Red Brick Warehouse district. It’s perfect for morning and evening strolls, and you can enjoy the bay-area atmosphere up close. The building is a Hotel renovated from a historic warehouse; while it retains the charm of its past, the interiors are highly refined. Despite its strong design focus, it remains practical and creates an impressive calm, relaxing space. At check-in, I was given a “large piece of kombu” with the suggestion to use it in the bath. It felt like memorable hospitality that reflects Hakodate’s local character. The guest rooms have a simple layout with no wasted space. However, the windows are limited to small upper clerestory openings, so you can’t enjoy outside views and may feel a bit closed in. Considering the location and rarity, the price is understandable, but judging by in-room amenities alone it feels slightly expensive. Still, for those who value the experience of staying in this location and inside a historic building itself, I think it’s a Hotel that will be very satisfying.

Wonderful hospitality
I stayed here while visiting from Aichi Prefecture. It was my first time in Hakodate, so I didn’t know the area at all and had been looking things up online, but the male staff member at this Hotel proactively gave me detailed information from check-in despite being busy. Thanks to that, I was able to enjoy Hakodate smoothly both at night and in the morning. I really appreciated how he was kind and attentive all the way through checkout, not just handling things in a routine way. I’d like to stay here again when I visit Hakodate.

A lovely Accommodation in a brick warehouse
This was my first trip to Hakodate, and I stayed here. I had high expectations after hearing it was a renovated brick warehouse, and it turned out to be an even more wonderful Accommodation than I imagined. On the day of arrival, my flight from Haneda was late, so I wasn’t sure what to do about dinner. When I called the Hotel the day before, they told me they could serve dinner as long as I arrived by 7:30 pm, so I requested it. My departure was delayed and I didn’t leave Hakodate Airport until around 7:10 pm, but I managed to arrive by taxi a little after 7:30 pm. The staff kindly told me to have dinner first and check in afterward, which was very helpful. The meal was delicious, and the tableware was beautiful—I really enjoyed it. The Accommodation is also close to a streetcar stop, so I made full use of a one-day pass to visit sightseeing spots. The staff gave me lots of helpful tips; for example, getting to Trappistine Monastery was easy by taking the streetcar to Yunokawa Onsen and then transferring to a bus. On the way back, I also enjoyed a day-use bath at Yunokawa Onsen. The location is great as well, making it convenient for walks. The Hakodate Ropeway station is just a short taxi ride away (within the base fare), so I could enjoy the night view too. I stayed for three nights (a Multiple Night Stay), and breakfast was excellent every day—they even changed the ingredients daily, which impressed me greatly. It’s rare to find breakfasts this good; this became an unforgettable Accommodation for me.

A Unique Stay at the Red Brick Warehouse Experience
A small Hotel with a great atmosphere. Breakfast reflected the chef’s refined taste and was very delicious, and the staff were extremely kind, making our holiday trip to Hakodate truly enjoyable.

It was a valuable experience.
We stayed for two nights. The red-brick warehouse has been beautifully renovated, with the large original pillars and beams preserved, giving a real sense of history. In the reception and restaurant areas, we could directly experience the atmosphere of the red brick. The Room had a simple modern Scandinavian style, which we really liked. Dinner was also excellent, and there was an impressive selection of locally produced drinks, making it hard to choose. The staff were very kind and gave us helpful advice, which we truly appreciated. One thing we noticed about our second-floor Room was that although there was a clerestory window for light, there were no windows in our line of sight, so we couldn’t see outside. This felt a bit enclosed. Even though we could hear the rain, not being able to see what was happening outside made us feel uneasy. If you don’t do well in enclosed spaces, I recommend choosing a first-floor Room.

The perfect Accommodation for strolling around town and enjoying beautiful scenery and historic buildings.
It was easy to explore the city on foot and enjoy Hakodate’s beautiful scenery and historic buildings. Thanks to the staff’s courteous service and thoughtful attention, we had a pleasant and enjoyable stay. The Room was also calm and comfortable, allowing us to relax. If I may add one request, since this was a Multiple Night Stay, we would have appreciated having more dining options—such as Japanese cuisine featuring local seafood (for example, through partnerships with nearby restaurants). As for the Room, we were a bit concerned that the toilet entrance door closes with a loud bang. Overall, we had a very comfortable stay. Thank you very much.

This is my second stay.
I stayed here in autumn a year ago, and it was so wonderful that I came back with my family. First of all, the location and the building are exceptional—full of charm. The taxi driver we took from the station didn’t even know this Hotel existed. That’s how seamlessly it blends into the town. This time we used a taxi because the snow was frozen and extremely slippery, but if the weather is good, everything is within walking distance. Last time, we walked to the morning market and also to the ropeway station. The red brick warehouses at night were quiet with few people around, and we were able to fully enjoy the snowy scenery. The Room was great as well. I gave 4 stars only because the hot water in my companion’s Room bath wasn’t quite right, but this is truly an Accommodation for adults who want to relax in peace and quiet. Since we can be a bit noisy, we really appreciated being given a Room at the very end (lol). Thank you for being so considerate. I also really wanted to try breakfast, so we did—and it was beautifully presented and delicious. It’s an old building, and I’m sure there are many challenges for the staff, but everyone was genuinely kind. My family loved it too. This is an Accommodation I’d like to visit anytime—spring, summer, autumn, or winter.

A cozy, home-like Hotel offering a unique stay experience
My first time in Hakodate. I made a Reservation because I knew I couldn’t go wrong with a NIPPONIA Hotel. A unique Hotel that makes great use of the Hakodate Red Brick Warehouses. Dinner was French cuisine using Hokkaido ingredients. Every dish was carefully prepared and thoughtfully crafted. I thoroughly enjoyed the seafood-focused course menu. The drinks were also very reasonably priced. Breakfast featured stylish Nordic-inspired dishes. The Hakodate milk was delicious. All of the staff were friendly and kindly answered my questions with clear explanations. It also renewed my appreciation for what NIPPONIA Hotels are doing across The whole country. Thanks to you, I had a wonderful stay. Thank you very much.

Highly satisfied
I stayed in Ozu this summer, and this was my second time at NIPPONIA. Located right in the heart of the sightseeing area, it is very convenient to access, and I was able to relax in a space filled with history. I felt this both in Ozu and Hakodate: the staff’s hospitality is wonderful and makes me want to return again and again. This was my first solo trip, and it became a truly memorable experience. Thank you very much.

Solo Trip to Hakodate
I enjoyed my stay at NIPPONIA, known for its unique accommodations in historical buildings and pairing French cuisine with Japanese sake. This was my 8th visit, this time in Hakodate. Here are three highlights: 1. The kelp bath: I received a long piece of dried kelp at the front desk to float in the bath. It released a pleasant aroma and essence, leaving my skin feeling smooth. I liked it so much that I asked for more kelp and took three baths during my stay! 2. The building: A charming old brick structure with modernized, spacious rooms. Despite being located in a busy area, noise was not an issue. The large desk also made it comfortable for writing or working leisurely. 3. The food: A full-course French meal paired with four types of local Hakodate sake was a rare treat and well worth trying. One downside was the dinner duration—it started at 6 PM and ended past 8:30 PM, which felt slightly long. Overall, I had a very comfortable stay and would love to return for another culinary experience when the seasons change!

I stayed at NIPPONIA...
I stayed at NIPPONIA HOTEL Hakodate Minatomachi during the Christmas season, a place I had always wanted to visit. It was an even more wonderful accommodation than I had imagined! The location was excellent, and despite having limited time with just a one-night stay, I was able to enjoy various activities. The concierge kindly provided helpful information about places and answered my questions when I dropped off my luggage before check-in, which made my trip stress-free. Since the room was so lovely, I wanted to enjoy some cake there. When I inquired in advance, they prepared cutlery and plates for me, which made me very happy. Although it started raining in the evening, they offered umbrellas for guests to borrow, which was greatly appreciated. The drinks in the room's refrigerator were free! While taking them home wasn’t allowed, there were so many varieties that it would have been impossible to finish them all during a one-night stay—this thoughtful touch delighted me as well. However, while there were plenty of beverages like champagne, wine, beer, and sake available in the room’s fridge, only two glass cups were provided. It would have been nice if wine glasses or additional cups were available too (even after rinsing with water between uses; previous alcohol scents lingered and mixed with new drinks like wine). Also for non-alcoholic juices or other beverages separate glasses would have been preferable. This time around we didn’t have much time to relax fully but this accommodation left us wanting more! Next time I'd love to take my time enjoying everything about the room thoroughly. I’d definitely want another stay here when visiting Hakodate again. This was also my first experience staying at a NIPPONIA HOTEL property—I’m now curious about trying their accommodations in other regions too!

The Hotel and Room were clean and spacious, with a great atmosphere outside. Located in the heart of the downtown area, there were plenty of shops to enjoy. The bath was unique, featuring kelp for a smooth and refreshing experience. The chef's recommended appetizer platter we had at night was incredibly delicious. Breakfast included dishes I had never tried before, which felt very fresh and exciting. I would love to stay at this Hotel again if I have the chance.

It was my first solo trip to Hakodate.
Staying at this Hotel alone felt like a bit of a luxury. It's true that solo travelers often face slightly higher costs no matter where they stay... The free drinks provided in the Room were abundant, but I couldn't consume much on my own and couldn't take them with me either (laughs). During dinner, the intervals between each dish being served felt too long, especially since I had no one to talk to, which made me feel restless and probably led me to order more drinks than usual. I understand that course meals are meant to be enjoyed leisurely, but I overheard other guests worrying about having enough time for the bath as well. So it seems others might have found the pacing slow too. Unfortunately, I couldn’t finish the baked goods served after dessert and had to leave them behind. The dishes themselves were beautifully presented and delicious; however, it would be great if there could be some adjustments made to the menu or serving pace. The harbor illumination is stunning, shopping at the brick warehouse district is enjoyable, and it's conveniently close to Motomachi and the station for sightseeing. The Room was clean and comfortable as well. Due to certain circumstances in our family, we rarely get a chance for couple trips; however, if we revisit Hakodate together someday, I would definitely love to stay here again. Next time around, I'd like us both to fully enjoy everything from free drinks to meals!

The refined elegance of NIPPONIA,
I had been curious about the NIPPONIA Accommodation for a while. The idea of staying in an accommodation renovated from a warehouse intrigued me, and I chose Hakodate specifically to experience this place. Upon arrival, as I tried to open the glass door of the accommodation while carrying my suitcase (on cobblestones with steps at the entrance), I was surprised that the staff at the front desk just watched without offering help. Even though they clearly saw me, they didn’t come over to assist with opening the door—this felt like my first “welcome” from NIPPONIA. Another surprise came when I learned that from 10 PM to 7 AM, there are no staff at reception; guests are given keys to lock and unlock the entrance themselves. Was this mentioned somewhere? If I had known beforehand, it might have felt a bit unsettling as a solo female traveler. It feels more like renting a private villa than staying in an accommodation. I had heard that the interior design was unique, but for someone like me who has back pain, climbing stairs to reach my room was tougher than expected—I regretted not requesting a ground-floor room. On my way up, there were additional steps where you go down and then up again; even at 165 cm tall, I found myself needing to watch my head on some stairs. For taller people, it must be even more challenging! The narrow vertical space of these stairs also took its toll on my back. The dinner I looked forward to started at 6:30 PM and ended past 8:40 PM (seven courses). While each dish took less than five minutes to eat, there were over ten-minute gaps between servings—was one chef preparing everything alone? The flavors lacked variety (and were quite strong), making it monotonous after some time. My seat became uncomfortable too; combined with dim lighting and little consideration for solo diners’ needs—it wasn’t ideal. The room itself was charmingly designed like an attic space and very clean with plenty of complimentary alcoholic drinks in the fridge—a nice touch! At night it felt atmospheric and relaxing overall. Although they explained that “sounds from other rooms or footsteps may echo due to how it's built,” this didn’t bother me much during my stay. However, because of dim lighting throughout most areas inside until midnight or so—it wasn’t easy lingering comfortably late into night hours either... Also peculiar bedding arrangements meant duvet covers couldn’t fully adjust properly leaving toes cramped below chest-level coverage only! Despite all these observations written here today—I believe small thoughtful improvements could elevate experiences into something truly special within such accommodations already beloved by loyal fans familiarized accustomed nuances therein!

Relaxing Solo Trip
I love Hakodate and have visited many times, often choosing Onsen accommodations. This time, I decided to stay at this stylish accommodation for a relaxing experience. The atmosphere of the room might vary depending on personal preference, but I found the dim lighting and light streaming through the small window very calming. The bathroom space was spacious and allowed me to relax. However, there was a dried fish-like smell in both the room and the facility, which bothered me quite a bit. Perhaps it's because it's located next to the port? Dinner had a great atmosphere and excellent service. The food was delicious, but both dinner and breakfast featured a lot of salmon; adding more variety would have enhanced my satisfaction even further. Overall, I liked the ambiance of this accommodation and am considering staying again with a "No Meals Included" plan next time so I can relax in the room or enjoy dining at nearby restaurants.

It was a wonderful Hotel.
The meals were innovative, well-prepared, and delicious. The staff provided courteous service, which was very satisfying. However, I was informed at check-in that there would be no staff present at the Hotel during nighttime hours. Along with the Room key, I was given a key to the Hotel's entrance as well, which made me feel slightly uneasy. Additionally, the refrigerator contained complimentary alcoholic beverages (6 or 7 bottles of beer, wine, sake, etc.), but they could not be taken to the restaurant during dinner or brought home afterward. I tried my best to finish them after dinner until late at night and before checking out the next day but couldn't manage it all. While this free service is generous, even for someone like me who enjoys drinking alcohol, it felt a bit excessive. I don't think I'll stay here again.

Choosing the Fish Market Plan was a great decision!
I stayed in August for a special anniversary. Prior to my visit, I received a call from the Hotel staff, allowing me to share various requests (such as arranging a cake) and consult about my travel Plan (like the best time to visit Mount Hakodate). The Hotel is located within the red brick warehouse district, offering an exotic and lively atmosphere that can be enjoyed right upon arrival. Despite being in a popular tourist area, the Hotel itself was quiet and serene. The interior was chic and absolutely stunning. The Room was spacious, with a large sofa perfect for relaxing. The famous kelp bath was also delightful. Meals were enjoyed at the restaurant for both breakfast and dinner, featuring dishes made with plenty of local ingredients that were incredibly delicious. For breakfast especially, while some may find "5:50 AM lobby meeting time" too early, I highly recommend the fish market Plan! You can observe auctions (entering areas usually off-limits to general visitors), experience the vibrant market atmosphere, purchase fresh seafood in consultation with the chef (payment is made during checkout), and enjoy it for breakfast! We chose sea urchin, crab, and oysters; they prepared crab in three different ways! These ingredients could be purchased at what felt like half or even one-third of restaurant prices—making it not only satisfying but also very cost-effective. This is definitely a Hotel I would love to revisit when traveling to Hakodate again!

It was an accommodation where you could fully enjoy the city of Hakodate.
I finally stayed at Hakodate Port Town, which I had been curious about for a long time. I often use VMG accommodations because I like their concepts, and this accommodation is exceptional with its prime location. Staying in a corner of the Red Brick Warehouse District offers a luxurious experience unlike any other accommodation. Additionally, within a 10–15 minute walk, you can visit the church area, public hall, and Hakodate Morning Market. This allows for leisurely strolls before dinner or after breakfast while enjoying the beautiful night views and refreshing early morning scenery of Hakodate as it changes throughout the day. The complimentary drinks in the refrigerator are also excellent; after returning from a walk, you can enjoy your drink while admiring the view of the warehouse district from your window—a truly indulgent moment. The room I stayed in this time had beautiful ivy by the window that was very soothing to look at. Originally being a kelp warehouse, their unique idea of using an entire piece of kelp as bath salts was surprising but enjoyable. During my trips to Hakodate, having breakfast at the morning market has always been my tradition; however, skipping meals at VMG accommodations wasn’t an option (laughs). So I decided to enjoy lunch at the morning market after checkout and chose a plan with two meals included instead. As always with VMG’s focus on local ingredients and delicious cuisine, I was thoroughly satisfied with both meals during my stay. Dinner featured two fish dishes as main courses—perfectly reflecting Hakodate’s charm—and offered visually stunning French cuisine that allowed me to savor fresh seafood delights fully. Breakfast was equally delightful; every dish was delicious! The elegant atmosphere created by utilizing elements of red brick warehouses added depth to our dining experience. I would love to stay here again!

I will definitely visit again.
I have visited Hakodate, my mother and aunt's hometown, many times, but NIPPONIA Hotel was the best. The staff's attention to detail allowed for a peaceful stay, and the meals were delicious and highly satisfying. I was concerned that the Red Brick Warehouse area might be too crowded with tourists, but inside the hotel felt like a different world. The excellent view of the Red Brick Warehouse and its convenient location remained intact while offering a quiet and wonderful experience.

Reasons to Recommend 【NIPPONIA HOTEL Hakodate Minatomachi】
The hotel is within walking distance from Hakodate Station, so I enjoyed a pleasant walk to the accommodation while sightseeing. The Red Brick Warehouses are close to the port, making it easy to navigate, and with great weather, the walk was both enjoyable and scenic. The hotel's exterior exudes a unique charm with its historic and dignified appearance. Inside, it offers an extraordinary experience that sets it apart from typical accommodations. What I would particularly like to highlight is the exceptional quality of the meals. Dining at the in-house restaurant "Luan" was a delight for both breakfast and dinner. The meticulous preparation of each dish left me in awe; every bite was incredibly delicious, providing continuous surprises and moments of joy. The attention to detail in ingredients, presentation, plate temperature, and perfect timing of service makes this restaurant truly rare nowadays. Perhaps this level of care is possible because they cater to a limited number of guests. The guest rooms were stylishly designed; however, some aspects might be slightly challenging for older guests. For instance, as someone who isn't very tall myself, I found that extra caution was needed due to the relatively high bathtub. Lastly, I want to express my gratitude for the outstanding hospitality provided by all staff members throughout my stay. Thanks to their impeccable service at 【NIPPONIA HOTEL Hakodate Minatomachi】, my trip became truly memorable—highly recommended!

Even the way fruits were cut varied daily, showing a playful touch.

Kelp Bath!
This was my first long-awaited trip to Hakodate. I arrived at the Hotel a little early and left my luggage, during which I received a detailed guide to local attractions. Thanks to this, I was able to visit places I wouldn't have found on my own and enjoyed exploring them with great interest. After returning to the Hotel, I was surprised when they recommended trying the kelp bath. Skeptical at first, I gave it a try and found the slippery texture amusing while feeling very relaxed. The meals afterward—both dinner and breakfast—were of consistently high quality and absolutely delicious. From start to finish, the staff provided excellent service for which I'm truly grateful; however, there was one small issue: I wasn't sure how to contact the front desk for non-emergency matters (perhaps I just missed it), so having clear instructions would be helpful in such cases. Thanks to NIPPONIA's services, I've been able to visit places across the whole country that are not often traveled—and I've enjoyed every trip! I'm already looking forward to imagining where I'll go next!
