    It was a bit disappointing.

    This was my second stay. I was almost satisfied with my previous visit, so I came back with high expectations. The atmosphere and food at the Hotel were as good as before, but I was slightly dissatisfied with the service of the restaurant staff. The explanations about the dishes were unclear; while their effort was evident, I felt that clearer explanations would be more appropriate for a Hotel setting. In particular, the explanation of the dessert seemed careless and left me completely confused. It was very disappointing. Additionally, during breakfast, I ordered congee that turned out to be lukewarm, which surprised me a bit... Since this had been one of my favorite Hotels, it was truly disappointing.

    A Wonderful Stay

    Overall, this is an exceptionally wonderful Hotel. We arrived early to have lunch before check-in, and the warm welcome and attentive guidance were truly impressive. The spacious grounds, taking advantage of the location, along with the beautiful Facility including a thermal pool and the reflection of the mountains on the water feature along the pathway, were absolutely stunning. During lunch, all restaurant staff showed great attention to detail, making our time very comfortable and allowing us to relax until check-in. Additionally, Room amenities were well-equipped and provided everything we needed for a truly comfortable and relaxing stay. In the evening, we dined at the bar where staff made efforts to accommodate language needs while providing detailed explanations of menus. Although I was slightly concerned about whether my orders were correctly placed, all meals and drinks were served smoothly without any issues. Before checking out, when requesting luggage delivery from the Hotel, their efficient service with thoughtful care left a lasting positive impression from start to finish. I would love to visit again!

    Enjoy the Tranquility of Kyoto

    The location is near Kinkaku-ji, situated in a more secluded area rather than the main streets. This makes it an environment where you can enjoy a very peaceful stay. Since it is away from the city center, it may not be ideal for those looking to go out frequently, but it's highly recommended for those who want to relax at the accommodation. We were introduced to nearby restaurants for dinner. Although our stay coincided with some restaurants' regular closing days and it was initially hard to find options, we were given plenty of recommendations (about six places in total), which will also be helpful for our next trip. We truly appreciated everyone's hospitality. We would love to return and experience the luxury of relaxing in such a quiet space again. Thank you very much!

    We stayed for the first time in September as a family. We booked early because we wanted to stay in a room by the poolside. Since it was also to celebrate my daughter's birthday, we were looking forward to it. Having direct access from the room to the poolside was very convenient and enjoyable. My daughter was very happy, which made us glad as well. Both check-in and check-out were handled with care and professionalism. We used a taxi, but there were so many staff members welcoming us that we felt slightly overwhelmed. Thank you for your courteous service. The lounge space where drinks were available was lovely, and being able to take drinks back to our room was much appreciated. I felt that the coffee machine in the lounge seemed more advanced than the Nespresso machine in our room—it tasted excellent! The wardrobe area of our room was spacious and comfortable to use, which we liked very much. Whenever we requested water or amenities, they responded promptly—this was great too! Their additional suggestions or confirmations beyond what we requested showed their exceptional service quality. However, regarding in-room dining: requests could not be made via screen but only by phone; while this worked fine overall, it would have been nice if evening menu options excluded breakfast items when browsing briefly during dinnertime hours. One important note about reservations is that cancellations are allowed but incur a 100% Cancellation Fee. As for meals—we only had breakfast at ROKU since there were nearby restaurants we'd planned on visiting instead during other times of day. Having previously stayed at Aman Kyoto nearby—I found ROKU comparatively more comfortable overall! Thank you so much!

    In reality, the rating is zero stars.

    Arrived at the hotel as informed, after 3 PM. Initially, a staff member came but quickly said, "Please wait," and we were left waiting for 30 minutes. Then they said, "We apologize; your room is not ready yet. Would you prefer to wait another 30 minutes or be shown to your room while we replenish amenities and make the bed?" Neither option was ideal. Since I had children with me and couldn't keep them waiting at the front desk any longer, I asked to be shown to the room. While looking at a single welcome cookie placed in the room, we waited without being able to relax. After some time, four international staff members arrived with Febreze in hand and hurriedly made up the bed—carrying pillows and bedding back and forth between the closet, bathroom, and bedroom—and replenished amenities. Coming to an expensive luxury accommodation only to experience this upon arrival left my entire family feeling disappointed. Staring at two small cookies meant for one person felt rather bleak. At checkout: I didn’t want another long wait like during check-in but chose a system where you return your key and receive an invoice via email later for payment—something I only learned about afterward because it wasn’t explained during check-in; I had to ask about it myself during checkout. Although I checked my credit card statement after our stay over a month ago, no email has been received regarding billing details. Initially thinking this was just our bad luck turned out not true; others have shared similar experiences too. This seems less like an individual issue but more of a systemic problem within this hotel’s operations. While I don’t care anymore since I'll never visit ROKU again anyway—I’ll seriously reconsider whether or not I'll continue using Hilton properties in general moving forward!

    Comfortable

    I used this Hotel to host a guest from the UK. The modern Japanese-style architecture and garden were incredibly beautiful, clean, and not overly extravagant, which was very appealing. He commented, "What an incredible hotel!" and seemed very pleased. All the staff were kind, and the arrangements for activities (tea ceremony experience, e-bike) were perfect. Thank you to everyone at the Hotel!

    I had been very interested in staying here since I saw it on IKYU, and I always wanted to experience it at least once. This time, I was able to stay for my birthday, and the Facility was even more wonderful than I had imagined. The staff's hospitality was truly exceptional, allowing me to spend a very happy time.     The service has improved significantly. Although I love the area of Takagamine and the facilities are excellent, there were some unsatisfactory aspects when it first opened, which kept me away. However, I now definitely want to stay again. Daily free activities are enjoyable, and I particularly liked the geta activity, which I participated in multiple days in a row. You can even purchase those geta at the spa and use them daily at home as instructed. The massages at this spa are consistently excellent. The onsen pool is lively and fun with many families during the day, while in the evening it caters to adults with a resort-like atmosphere—staff even prepare your desired seating with bath towels and bring water for you. Since we don't go sightseeing, we had all three meals at the hotel, and they were delicious. Compared to a neighboring luxury international hotel where we've stayed nearly ten times before, breakfast here does get very crowded due to its price point; however, aside from daytime pool hours during an autumn holiday multiple night stay period, we didn’t feel any other crowding issues. It’s very reasonable and convenient for future stays. Thank you so much for making everything wonderful everywhere!

    For a stay of 3 people

    We stayed at the accommodation with three friends to celebrate a birthday. Check-in took a bit of time. During that time, the Diamond benefits were explained, but they differed from what I had seen before. Upon checking, I was told that the benefits had changed after the reservation date. Since I made the reservation quite some time ago, I couldn't remember what it was originally and misunderstood. However, the explanation felt somewhat accusatory; it would have been better if it was conveyed more gently. We were guided to our room, which was spacious and impeccably clean. However, there were two beds and a sofa by the window prepared with sheets and pillows. While we initially thought an extra bed would be provided, we ended up having to sleep on the sofa instead. Sleeping on it turned out to be uncomfortable as it was hard and narrow; turning over wasn't possible, and my arms kept falling off unless folded across my chest while sleeping. Even for children, this size would be challenging—disappointing for a luxury hotel. The pool we looked forward to using required reservations but turned out to be very crowded with families including children; swimming wasn't feasible as walking through was all one could manage in such conditions. If it's reservation-based, perhaps limiting numbers further would improve things—it felt like a public pool otherwise! The changing room only had two showers available which seemed insufficient too; although returning in bathrobes back upstairs worked fine overall waiting around coldly beforehand wasn’t ideal either—a large communal bath might solve these issues nicely! Meals both morning & evening tasted delicious without complaints whatsoever. Overall staff interactions remained polite throughout yet ultimately concluded accommodations weren’t suited ideally towards groups comprising three individuals staying together comfortably enough here specifically speaking!

    A bit disappointing

    This was my third stay. One excellent point was being recommended to explore the Japanese garden in the Shozan Resort before check-in, and upon returning, I was warmly welcomed with a cold bottled water. Amenities can be requested through the room's TV, and the staff's response during delivery was outstanding. A slightly disappointing point is that pool seating has become chargeable this year, with seats including parasols costing 3,000 yen. Another issue occurred at check-in when I requested a receipt for my departure but had to wait 30 minutes at checkout because it wasn't communicated properly. The staff member assisting me seemed inexperienced and required guidance from a nearby Japanese colleague. As I had a train to catch, I would appreciate more flexibility in such situations. I love the pool and services here and have stayed multiple times; however, this experience left me feeling disappointed. That said, there are still wonderful staff members here, so I look forward to future stays with high expectations!

    The Hotel You Want as Your Destination

    This was my first stay, and the service was exceptional. The staff who guided me to my room, the housekeeping team, and the breakfast restaurant staff all demonstrated outstanding hospitality. There were many foreign staff members as well, but communication was seamless. Considering the price, one might expect a certain level of quality; however, it was evident that they strive to exceed expectations. Even during just a one-night stay, I could feel their efforts and was deeply impressed. As it is a facility built four years ago, everything is in excellent condition. The pool is well-maintained and can be used with peace of mind. For families with children, there are plenty of amenities and rental items available along with activities provided by the hotel itself—making it enjoyable even without venturing out for sightseeing. Despite being an international brand hotel, there seemed to be many Japanese families with children or couples staying here. It gave me the impression that Hilton cardholders might make up a significant portion of their guests. The breakfast buffet allows you to choose only one main dish while offering a half-buffet selection; however, I felt that there were limited Western-style options in this section. At this price point, I would have preferred being able to order multiple main dishes freely. That said, the desserts were so elaborate that they hardly felt like part of breakfast—they were truly impressive! Overall satisfaction remains high despite this minor issue. One downside is that there’s no shuttle service available even though it takes 10 minutes by taxi from Kitayama Station—the nearest station—and some TV channels in our room couldn’t be received due to low antenna signal levels. These factors led me to deduct one star from my rating; however overall satisfaction remains very high! I would love another opportunity someday soon-to return again at such wonderful Hotel!

    Onsen is amazing!

    The room with an onsen was excellent. It was quiet and relaxing. However, the room layout felt a bit inefficient. The shower room is placed between the sinks, and since it's far from the bathtub, the floor tends to get wet. The pool would be better if it were less crowded. On weekends, it operates on a reservation system, so don't forget to make a reservation. The corridor leading to the restaurant was beautiful and truly enjoyable.

    Truly a wonderful Hotel

    I visited after a long time Reserved my favorite onsen-equipped room. First of all, the staff's service was excellent and made my stay comfortable. The facility is well-maintained, so it was as clean as last time. I chose the one-night two-meal plan, and the quality of dinner was high. The hospitality of the restaurant staff was also wonderful, which impressed my friend who accompanied me. I wondered if the thermal pool might be too hot in summer, but the water temperature was just right. Visiting after children's hours is recommended! I would love to visit again in a different season. Thank you to all the staff!

    I would love to stay here again...

    I initially reserved a poolside room, but due to a schedule change, the poolside rooms were fully booked. Instead, I stayed in a room known for its great view. The lobby was lovely, and the staff were wonderful. Both my children and I were excited throughout our stay. However, it was disappointing that we had to wait quite a while before check-in and that the staff member who guided us seemed somewhat inexperienced. As an IKYU Diamond Member, I found the explanation of membership benefits and room-specific perks insufficient with some miscommunication involved, which resulted in not being able to enjoy all the benefits—a significant letdown. When I brought this up with the staff, their response felt underwhelming and left me disappointed. The view from our room was indeed beautiful; however, it was located far from facilities like the pool and restaurants, which made getting around inconvenient. For dinner, although we had made a reservation in advance, appetizers were served 30 minutes after our reserved time—a considerable delay. That said, both the taste and presentation of the meal were excellent. At breakfast time with one child sharing existing bedding (Child Sharing Existing Bedding), we ordered only mains for them but were mistakenly charged for half-buffet pricing instead—this was later corrected. On another note: despite reserving for three adults and one child sharing existing bedding (Child Sharing Existing Bedding), there were only two portions of tea snacks provided in our room—this seemed odd. The bathrobes provided in-room were exceptionally comfortable; additionally, there was an ample supply of bath towels and towels prepared from the start—this aspect stood out positively. The bed offered great comfort as well as did the bathroom itself; however—the shampoo/conditioner amenities felt rather cheap. Next time around—I hope to finally stay in one of your poolside rooms!

    The Roku Outer Corridor Connecting the Vast Grounds

    Roku features a spacious artificial pond at its center, surrounded by rooms, a tea house, a restaurant, a pool, and other facilities. These are connected by an outdoor corridor that offers stunning views of the distant Kitayama mountains during every walk. This summer, I enjoyed playing underwater rock-paper-scissors with my 5-year-old grandchild in the pool. The Onsen-infused water was gentle on the skin and sparkled with remarkable clarity. The French cuisine for dinner was exceptional, with sauces that truly brought out the best in each ingredient—arguably the best in the world. Additionally, yoga by the poolside this summer felt embraced by Roku's vast sky, while Pilates at the gym helped improve core strength. Thank you for all your hospitality!

    It was wonderful.

    This Hotel was as wonderful as I had heard, or even better. The staff's dedication, perfect balance of attentiveness, and kind words were all truly satisfying. The food was absolutely delicious; having visited many restaurants before, this is undoubtedly top-class. I hope to visit again someday.

    I stayed in the Poolside Terrace Room. Everything, including the room, dinner, and breakfast, was absolutely wonderful. Above all, I was deeply impressed by the amazing staff who made my stay truly delightful and filled with happiness! This is a hotel I definitely want to visit again!     This was my first visit in three years. I was able to relax and unwind completely. The Hotel is so quiet that it feels as if no one else is there. I feel proud to have stayed at such a wonderful Hotel. I am also grateful for being allowed to spend about an hour in the lobby before my next Hotel check-in time. The staff's service is very well-trained, smart, and full of elegance. A truly excellent Hotel!

    Best day ever

    "Impressions of Staying at ROKU Kyoto"

    Upon arrival, we enjoyed afternoon tea, were guided to our room, and experienced the pool, spa treatments, dinner, the bar, and breakfast the next morning. Every staff member provided warm and welcoming service that made our stay incredibly comfortable and created unforgettable memories. The hotel is surrounded by beautiful greenery and water, but I believe it is the exceptional staff at "ROKU Kyoto" who truly bring this wonderful space to life. Their proactive hospitality provided us with an extraordinary accommodation experience. Thank you to all the staff for making our holiday so special. We will return to "ROKU Kyoto" again to rejuvenate ourselves.

    Extremely Satisfying

    Thanks to all the staff, from those who guided us from the car, handled check-in, accompanied us to our Room, served dinner and breakfast, and assisted at the spa, we were able to create wonderful memories with our family in Kyoto. The Hotel itself also contributed greatly to these memories. It is a modern and clean Hotel surrounded by lush greenery. The Room amenities, water replenishment service, and turndown service were all perfect. Of course, both dinner and breakfast were delicious, beautifully presented, and healthy. We would love to visit again in autumn!

    A trip for two with my 60-year-old mother

    My mother and I had an incredibly enjoyable time. The comfort and cleanliness of the room and each facility were, of course, excellent, but what impressed us the most was the hospitality of the staff. Everyone we interacted with was genuinely kind and courteous, making us feel truly cared for in a way that filled our hearts. Above all, seeing my mother so satisfied brought me immense joy and relief as her daughter, leaving me full of gratitude toward everyone who assisted us. This was my first time experiencing a trip at such a wonderful hotel, and I was completely captivated. While it may not be possible to visit frequently, I am eager to make another reservation someday to look forward to another trip like this while working hard in daily life. Thank you for providing such an amazing experience!

    The view of Takagami...

    The view of Takagamine from the Room was wonderful, making for a pleasant Hotel stay. On the second night, there were no Dalí K sweets provided in the Room, which was a bit disappointing. At other Hotels, they often change the items and provide them even on the second night, which is a nice touch. New slippers are not necessary. Thank you for your hospitality.

    The exterior of the Hotel was beautiful. I was surprised that amenities like lotion were not provided. Could these be requested at the front desk? The bathroom was stylish, but the wooden door between the Room and bathroom made me concerned about humidity, so I couldn’t leave it open. The high outer walls also gave a somewhat dark impression. As for the meals, perhaps due to my age, French cuisine felt a bit challenging for me. The soup was listed as minestrone, but both its appearance and taste seemed different from what I expected. I’ve learned to always check meal details carefully when choosing a Hotel in the future!

    Rainy Roku

    Roku in fresh greenery begins with the gentle green leaves of the tea room "Yamanashi" where you check in. Dinner is served at a table surrounded by lush greenery along the Tenjin River, where the elegance of Loire white asparagus soup is truly delightful. On the second day, rain fell, and though initially disappointing, watching raindrops ripple on the water surface brought a sense of calm. In rainy Roku, Kitayama is veiled in mist. Staying in the Takagamine Room and doing nothing but letting time pass felt neither boring nor unfulfilling—it made me wonder if this is what a resort truly means.

    The Best Golden Week

    It was our first family stay at Rokuh in Takagamine. Blessed with great weather during Golden Week, the fresh green breeze by the hotel's waterside was incredibly pleasant. The hospitality and service here are top-notch, making every aspect of our stay exceptional. The Room was comfortable, offering a close view of the Takagamine mountains through the window, allowing us to relax fully. Dinner at the Chef's Table featured innovative French cuisine that everyone enjoyed, paired perfectly with wine selected by a staff member who made our dining experience delightful. We created unforgettable Golden Week memories and sincerely thank all the Hotel staff for their care and attention.

    Excellent hospitality

    The day after our arrival, my daughter wasn't feeling well, but we deeply appreciated the care and attention provided. Everything, from cleanliness to customer service, was absolutely satisfying. It was the first time someone came to clean in preparation for bedtime, which allowed us to sleep comfortably—thank you!
