    This was my first st...

    This was my first stay in Yufuin, and I chose this Accommodation. The staff’s hospitality was very pleasant, and both dinner and breakfast were a delight—each dish was not only delicious but also beautifully presented, making it a truly blissful time. The Onsen was wonderful as well; after bathing, my skin felt silky smooth. Another Accommodation I’d love to visit again has been added to my list.

    It was a truly comfortable Accommodation for our family of three.

    This was our second stay, the first in four years. On our previous visit I wasn’t in perfect health, and I regretted not being able to fully enjoy it, so I’d been hoping to return—but since this is an Accommodation that’s notoriously hard to book, four years passed. By chance I found an opening and made a Reservation immediately without even having time to consult my husband, and that’s how our trip to Oita came together. Sometimes on a repeat visit you think, “Was it really like this?” because your first memory was overly idealized—but here, they easily exceeded even those rosy memories. It truly is a wonderful Accommodation. At arrival it seemed they didn’t recognize us as returning guests (probably because we used a different booking site last time), but once it came up in conversation, they treated us like true regulars—far beyond what you’d expect for only a second visit: “Last time we noted that madam cannot drink alcohol, so we prepared juice instead of an aperitif,” and more. It honestly made us feel great (in the best way). They also confirmed our child’s name (age 6) and addressed them by name, which made us very happy. There aren’t kid-focused Facilities like a kids’ space here, so I thought my child might get bored—but that worry was completely unfounded. Before checkout they were saying, “I don’t want to go home. I want to stay here.” When we left, the staff waved goodbye until our car disappeared beyond the rice fields—and my child kept waving back the whole time. It was truly comfortable and welcoming. Everything above is simply my Review to express gratitude to the Accommodation. Below are notes on points I paid particular attention to for anyone considering staying with children (including concerns I had four years ago when our child was 1½ and we stayed in winter). 1) Even the Western-style Room requires shoes off at the entrance layout-wise, so it feels safe even for crawling children. There’s also a door between the entryway and living area, so there’s no risk of them slipping out onto the entry floor when you look away for a moment. 2) The entire Room is spotless with no unnecessary furnishings or ornaments—so there’s none of that stressful “Don’t touch that—it’ll break / it’s dirty!” constant monitoring. 3) The Onsen temperature can be adjusted (there is a faucet where you can add water). 4) The washing area is indoors → then you open a door to access the open-air bath route, so you can wash comfortably even in very hot or cold seasons without worry. 5) I don’t think there was underfloor heating; however there is a heater in the changing area. I’m sorry this became long—I just really wanted to share how grateful we are.

    I made another reservation.

    I stayed here last year and loved it, so I came back again. This time as well, I had a beautiful view of Mt. Yufu and felt truly relaxed. I could really feel the staff’s warm hospitality, and it was a pleasure talking with everyone. I thought the meals were even more delicious than last year. The vegetables, meat, and fish—both the ingredients and seasoning—were excellent, and I fully enjoyed everything: the Onsen, the food, and the scenery. I’ve already made another Reservation, and I’m very much looking forward to my next visit.

    We were able to celebrate my mother’s 88th birthday!

    To celebrate my mother’s 88th birthday, we took a mother-and-daughter trip together for the first time in a long while. It was our first stay at Rokka, and everything exceeded the great reviews—the Facilities, hospitality, and delicious meals were all wonderful. Even my elderly mother says she wants to come again.\nNext time, I’d like to visit with my daughter and aunt as well.\nThank you very much.

    Thank you very much for taking care of us during our recent trip to Yufuin. Thanks to the warm hospitality of all the staff, we were able to spend an extremely comfortable time. We were soothed by your heartfelt service, the Room, and the Onsen with exceptional water quality, and enjoyed bathing again and again. The meals were also wonderful; in particular, I will never forget how delicious the sashimi said to be caught in Beppu Bay was. It was incredibly fresh, and the moment I tasted it was truly unforgettable. This is a truly lovely Accommodation where you can feel refreshed both physically and mentally. Next time, I would love to return with my husband to enjoy that delicious sashimi and the Onsen again. Thank you very much.

    This Accommodation offers delicious food, a very comfortable stay, and complete satisfaction.

    On my solo trip to Kyushu, I chose this Accommodation for one night in Yufuin because the food looked delicious. The Room was thoroughly cleaned, and the amenities were well stocked, so I had a very comfortable stay. The meals I was looking forward to also met my expectations and were very satisfying. The staff were kind, and I really enjoyed chatting about cars and other things during my stay.

    This is an Accommoda...

    This is an Accommodation we stay at around winter every year. We come from far away, so we can only visit about once a year, but when we bring our child, the staff say, “You’ve grown so much,” which makes us very happy. The open-air bath in the Room is truly wonderful, and we always enjoy it right up until check-out time. It leaves our skin feeling silky smooth! Both dinner and breakfast are delicious, and we always spend our time here feeling truly happy. It’s such a lovely Accommodation that we feel sad when it’s time to leave. We look forward to staying again next year!

    I can’t forget the taste of rice topped with a raw egg.

    We stayed here with our 1-year-and-10-month-old son. Now I understand why this Accommodation is so hard to get a Reservation for. Not only are the Facilities excellent, but the staff are exceptionally attentive and the meals are delicious. It’s the best Accommodation we’ve ever stayed at. What I especially can’t forget is the egg-over-rice we had for breakfast the next morning. It was a 3-night, 4-day trip to Kyushu, and my husband and I both agreed that the most delicious thing we had was “egg-over-rice!”—that’s how good it was. And as for the Onsen, after soaking, my skin felt incredibly smooth. This was an Accommodation that left both body and mind completely satisfied. I want to visit Kyushu again just so we can stay at Rokka.

    Winter in Yufuin

    The view of Mount Yufu from the accommodation is beautiful. Although there was no snow, we enjoyed the collaboration of morning mist, frosted rice fields, and Mount Yufu. We relaxed in the open-air bath and savored delicious cuisine.

    The hospitality is excellent.

    It was my first time in Yufuin. I was able to spend a quiet time away from the hustle and bustle, surrounded by stunning scenery. The Room and meals were excellent, but the hospitality of the staff, who truly understood our needs, was exceptional. If I may add a small request, it would be wonderful if warm dishes like fish and meat for dinner could be served piping hot. The sashimi was delicious; even though I usually don't eat yellowtail sashimi as I'm not fond of it, the "Bijin Buri" was incredibly tasty. The tuna, which is my favorite, was also delightful.

    Surrounded by mounta...

    Surrounded by mountains with a great view of Mount Yufu. Located slightly away from the center of Yufuin Onsen, the area around the accommodation is filled with rice fields. At first, I doubted if I was heading in the right direction while walking towards it. Upon arrival, I thought, "An onsen accommodation in such a place?" Each room (building) is independent but compactly arranged as a whole. The entire accommodation feels enclosed by wooden fences. Although it was a hot day in October during my stay, the ventilation in the room's bath was excellent and created a comfortable space despite not knowing how it worked. The staff's hospitality was impeccable and enhanced the enjoyment of meals and drinks. I used JR for this trip. On my way back, the owner kindly showed me a shortcut to the station, which I walked through while reminiscing about flowers and landscapes from my childhood, feeling familiar breezes and experiencing what seemed like leisurely moments from those days. It probably took less than 30 minutes to reach the station, but it felt enjoyable somehow. Looking back now, this experience stems from staying at this accommodation. It might sound exaggerated, but this could be an accommodation where you can cleanse your soul.

    It was a great trip!

    We decided to focus on an onsen-centered winter trip for our family of three and planned our schedule based on the dates we could secure a reservation at Tachibana. As mentioned in the reviews, it was a truly wonderful accommodation! The staff were incredibly pleasant, and both dinner and breakfast were delicious. For us slightly plump couple, they thoughtfully provided more relaxed-fit samue outfits as an option, which was very considerate. They also kindly accommodated sudden requests with ease, which we greatly appreciated. The room had heating even in the dressing area, a spacious sink area with a large mirror that prevented any competition for getting ready—very convenient! The private bath in the room was spacious and featured 100% natural hot spring water flowing directly from the source. We indulged luxuriously by warming up in the bath and cooling off on the terrace repeatedly. My husband, daughter, and I all had an absolutely satisfying trip. Thank you very much!

    The staff is excellent.

    I used this accommodation to celebrate my retirement. The hospitality was simply outstanding. They kindly engaged with my husband's chatty behavior after he had a bit too much to drink and even waved us off warmly as we left. The portion sizes of the meals were just right—not too much, not too little. Despite being in this class of accommodation, the stay cost was in the 30,000 yen range per person, and the drinks during meals were reasonably priced, making it very cost-effective. Although it's a bit hard to get there from Tokyo, I would love to visit this accommodation again!

    The high ratings on platforms like Jalan and IKYU.com made us eagerly anticipate our stay. However, the hospitality that began with the warm welcome was simply breathtaking. The way guests are treated, the atmosphere, and the subtle attentiveness—without us saying a word, a helping hand was always extended with such care. The level of hospitality was truly remarkable. And of course, the exquisite cuisine deserves special mention. Each dish stood on its own while seamlessly connecting to the next—a chilled plate followed by one that gently warmed us, or a dish rich in broth succeeded by one with delicate yet profound flavors. It wasn’t heavy overall but left us so satisfied we were speechless. The open-air bath’s silky smooth water quality felt like being wrapped in beauty serum—it was absolutely perfect. As we approach our porcelain wedding anniversary, this has become an unforgettable memory for us. We definitely look forward to visiting again!

    Always feel relaxed and refreshed.

    This accommodation always provides great satisfaction no matter how many times I visit.     It was amazing this year as well!

    We stay at this accommodation every year for our anniversary, and this year was no exception. We had a truly wonderful time staying at Rokka. The room and cuisine were both exceptional, but above all, we were deeply moved by the hospitality of the staff, including the president. Although we have stayed here annually, we regret not knowing everyone's names, but we are especially grateful for the outstanding hospitality of the male staff member. As avid travelers, we have stayed at various ryokans, hotels, and so-called first-class accommodations, but this place surpasses them all. Thank you for the heartfelt hospitality and the sense of exclusivity you provided during our stay. We are already looking forward to visiting again next year.

    Still the best accommodation!

    A delightful return to Rokka. From the warm welcome to the heartfelt farewell, we felt completely at ease. We enjoyed soaking in the high-quality Onsen, savoring delicious seasonal dishes paired with wine, and laughing together as we agreed, "Rokka truly is the best!" We will definitely visit again.     It was excellent.

    This was my first stay at the accommodation. Just before arriving, the weather turned bad, and it started raining heavily, which was challenging. However, the staff immediately came out with an umbrella for me, and I truly appreciated their kindness. I stayed in Room 1, and once the rain stopped, I could see a beautiful view of Mount Yufu from the open-air bath. The meals were delicious, and I also enjoyed Ajimu wine—it was wonderful.     Excellent hospitality

    I discovered Rokka on their website and was intrigued by the excellent reviews, and after staying, I was completely convinced. From the warm welcome to the farewell, I was impressed by the staff's heartfelt hospitality in every aspect. We were lucky to secure a spot a week before our planned stay due to a cancellation, and choosing Rokka turned out to be an excellent decision. Although it rained during our visit and we could only see half of Mount Yufu's view, the rain made for pleasantly cool weather. The setting perfectly matched the rainy atmosphere as well. I look forward to visiting again in a different season!

    A wonderful accommodation.

    It was my first stay at this accommodation. I was completely satisfied with the room, onsen, and meals. The hospitality was also excellent. The room was clean and provided a relaxing atmosphere. The onsen had the perfect temperature, with water that felt like lotion. The meals were visually stunning and delicious in taste. Even the water served was delightful.     This is my favorite accommodation!

    Thank you for taking care of us again this year, just like last year. We had the most relaxing and healing experience. Last year, we visited at the end of the firefly season and couldn’t see many, but this year we fully enjoyed them. Like flower seasons, fireflies are not consistent every year—it’s unpredictable, but we were lucky this time. Fireflies are one of the seasonal pleasures during this time of year, and it made us very happy. The meals were delicious as well. Recently, I haven’t been able to eat much sirloin steak, but it was cooked thoroughly for me and I managed to finish it all (laughs). The timely serving pace was also appreciated. While some may prefer a slower dining experience, for us taking too long means struggling to finish later courses—thank you for your thoughtful service! The red wine from Ajimu called "Himiko" was delightful too. It was easier to drink than high-end Bordeaux wines (laughs). With fewer Merlot-based wines that suit my taste recently, finding such a cost-effective wine that matches my preference made me very happy. We love driving along the "Yamanami Highway" from Aso to Yufuin—and of course visiting onsen in Yufuin every year is a must for us! This time we stayed in Unzen after Amakusa; last year it was Ureshino before coming here. Across accommodations nationwide (and even globally), many have over half their staff as foreign workers or trainees who do their best but often only manage basic manual-based service—not quite satisfying despite being functional... That’s where your accommodation stands out significantly. Perhaps because there are only six detached rooms here? Every staff member provides heartfelt smiles with “relaxed yet attentive” hospitality—this is truly exceptional above all else. It allows complete relaxation. While other accommodations may offer delicious cuisine or stylishly renovated rooms like yours does too—the stress-free balance in distance combined with genuinely pleasant service is rare these days; in that sense alone yours is outstanding. I hesitated about writing a review since increased popularity might make reservations harder (laughs), but I wanted to express my gratitude through these words instead. Thank you so much once again—we look forward to visiting again soon!

    It was a very pleasant trip.

    The service was excellent and very pleasant. Thank you very much. The meals were delicious, and after having a second helping of rice, I was completely full. The Room's bath had a roof, so there was no worry about rain coming in, and the temperature was always just right whenever I used it.

    The best service ever!!

    It is usually difficult to make a Reservation for Rokka on Saturdays, but I miraculously found an available spot a week in advance and was able to go. Their handling of young children, which I thought would be challenging, was exceptional. While there are many Facilities with excellent service for adults, no Facility has provided better care for children than this one. I would love to visit again if given the opportunity.

    I had a comfortable stay.

    Rikka offers a great view of Mount Yufu, making you truly feel like you're in Yufuin. The Room was spotless and well-designed, ensuring a comfortable stay. The open-air bath was always at the perfect temperature, allowing for multiple relaxing soaks. Even small details like the fully automated toilet added to the comfort of our stay! The hospitality from all staff members was exceptional. Both dinner and breakfast were absolutely delicious. Thank you very much!
