    We were satisfied with everything—the staff’s service, the food, and the Room.

    The Room was compact, but very functional. Even though it was on the second floor, there was a small garden outside the window, which felt soothing. It was disappointing that the meal time couldn’t be arranged as we hoped, but the sashimi at dinner was carefully prepared, and we were able to enjoy dishes like conger eel shabu-shabu and sea bream rice at a relaxed pace. The sea bream chazuke set for breakfast was unusual and delicious. There was only an indoor bath, but it was a relaxing bath with warm water flowing over the shoulders, which we really enjoyed. Next time, we’d like to book a Multiple Night Stay and fully enjoy exploring Onomichi.

    Exquisite Sea Bream Dishes and Warm Hospitality

    [Room] The Room is compact, so if you expect a lot of space, it may feel a bit small. It’s best to think of it as a place mainly for sleeping. [Dining] Every dish was truly delicious! In particular, the sea bream rice at dinner and the sea bream ochazuke at breakfast were outstanding—so good that they alone made the stay worthwhile. [Service & Hospitality] All the staff were wonderful, and I felt comfortable throughout my stay. This Accommodation’s highlights are its delicious food and warm hospitality, more than enough to make up for the small Room.

    The food is absolutely delicious.

    As expected of a culinary Ryokan, every dish was seasoned just right and the portions were perfect, so we finished everything without leaving any. Because it is in town, private homes are close by, which made the location a bit disappointing, but we were satisfied with our stay thanks to the delicious food. The tea served on arrival and the local Onomichi satsuma-age that came with the monaka were an excellent touch.

    The value for money is very poor.

    I was looking forward to this place after hearing it is a sister Accommodation with the same owner as Fukuyama Tōon Chikuon, but I was disappointed that there was only a small one-person bath. On top of that, there is no large public bath, so you can’t relax and enjoy a proper soak—I can’t understand why it was designed this way. The meals were satisfying, but although I informed them at the time of Reservation that I cannot eat shellfish, they said they do not accommodate individual requests unless it is an allergy. It’s hard to believe that an Accommodation at this level wouldn’t even replace part of the sashimi. Unfortunately, I don’t think I would stay again. For an Accommodation at this price point, it’s simply disappointing. Staying at Tōon Chikuon would be far more worthwhile.

    I’d love to stay here again.

    This Accommodation had excellent food. Dinner was great, and the morning sea bream chazuke was especially delicious. They also introduced us to some great local places, and the Kikujudo monaka they served was so good that we went to the shop to buy some as souvenirs. We could feel their thoughtful attention in many ways, and the service was very good. It is a Ryokan where you can enjoy a comfortable stay. I deducted one star because I couldn’t drink any beer—I’m not sure whether the refrigerator wouldn’t open or I just couldn’t open it.

    The meals are absolutely delicious.

    The meals were exceptionally delicious. In particular, the sea bream chazuke at breakfast was outstanding—so good that it made me want to stay at this Accommodation just for it.

    Onomichi is a wonderful town.

    A bit disappointing in various small ways. If everything lines up, I think it could be a truly great Accommodation. (Just one example) The semi-open-air bath—cypress fragrance, birdsong, a refreshing breeze—amazing!!! ...but there were bees buzzing around the small garden so I wished for a screen door, and at times the smell of cigarette smoke drifted in from somewhere (maybe this Accommodation’s smoking area?), plus around dusk the drum beats from a nearby live music venue felt out of place.

    The meals are delicious.

    The meals are delicious and the portions are just right—enough to make you want to come back again. The Room is also very clean, and it’s great that you can walk around the building without slippers. The service is very courteous, and we were extremely satisfied. It would be even better if there were a large public bath, but we were more than satisfied.

    This was the most luxurious accommodation of our trip.

    The welcome drinks—green tea, kamaboko, and monaka from a shop in Onomichi—were all delicious and instantly relieved my travel fatigue. The medicinal bath was also very nice; since there is no large public bath, I could relax at my own pace. However, I feel that an 8:00 a.m. breakfast start is too late. I have stayed at many Accommodations, but this was my first time with an 8:00 start. When I asked if it would be possible to come a little earlier, I was told “8:00,” yet some guests who arrived early were already eating. Also, while dinner had many dishes, it was slightly too salty and the portions were small; with breakfast not starting until 8:00, I think men in particular may get hungry.

    My parents in their 80s were absolutely delighted.

    This was our second visit since last autumn. After a 4-hour trip with multiple train transfers, I persuaded my parents in their 80s to come because I truly wanted them to experience the scenery of Onomichi together with this Ryokan. We returned because we fell in love with the cuisine, and once again the staff’s attentiveness was outstanding. We interacted with many people, and every single one of them was warm and welcoming. My parents now have a new goal—to come again next year. Thank you very much.

    Accommodation with Delicious Cuisine

    The food was very delicious. The staff were also very helpful. I was a bit concerned that the bathtub in the Room was small, but the shower water pressure was strong and great. Overall, everything was well cleaned and felt very clean. I think this Accommodation is a great choice for sightseeing in Onomichi.

    A Gift for My Parents

    I made a Reservation as an anniversary and birthday gift for my parents. They said the Accommodation was small and cozy, and they were delighted by how warm and attentive the Hotel staff were. The meals were excellent—everything was delicious. It was cherry blossom season, so they walked from the Hotel to Senkoji to enjoy the blossoms. They thanked me, saying it was an Accommodation they’d love to visit again. Thank you as well for preparing a surprise message board for them.

    The food was truly comforting!

    I was impressed not only by the food, but also by the tableware! This has become an Accommodation I want to visit again and again! The staff were always smiling and courteous, which made my stay very pleasant!

    This is a review of the Comfort Room.

    My family stayed in two Rooms: a Comfort Room and a Premium Room. The Premium Room is more spacious, but I recommend the recently renovated Comfort Room. The outlets area and the hinoki bath were new; we didn’t use only the wooden wash bucket because mold was noticeable, but everything else, including the toilet, was excellent. The meals were delicate and enjoyable in flavor, with generous portions that left us very satisfied. The staff member who served us was charming and thoughtfully attentive. Everyone else also provided wonderful service, and it felt like a genuinely good workplace. I’d love for you to stay at this Accommodation and see for yourself!

    It was very relaxing.

    My spouse and I stayed here. The Room was well equipped, and the meals were especially delicious—we enjoyed them at a relaxed pace. We will visit again during my birthday month.

    The best ever.

    I’ve stayed at many Accommodations so far, and this one was the best I’ve ever experienced. If the bath had been an Onsen, it would have been a perfect 5 out of 5, but that might be asking too much. I’d definitely like to stay here again.

    Delicious meals

    I enjoyed my previous stay, so I came back again with my family. The Room is compact, but above all, the meals are delicious! We were very satisfied with both dinner and breakfast. The staff’s service was flawless—attentive without being intrusive, which made us feel very comfortable. There’s almost no view (you can see the garden), but I think it’s well worth it regardless. This is an Accommodation I’d love to stay at again when I visit Onomichi.

    An Accommodation where you stay to enjoy the cuisine

    I stayed here on a business trip to the Chugoku region. With limited Accommodation options in Onomichi, this place is in the city center, making it ideal for sightseeing as well. It’s a small Accommodation, but the Room was clean and the service was courteous. There were quite a few solo guests too. There is no large public bath or Onsen, but the in-room bath called “Rakuyu” was more than enough. The highlight here is definitely the meals. Instead of a standard “more dishes is better” approach, each course features seasonal local ingredients, carefully prepared and served one by one. Every dish clearly shows the chef’s skill and craftsmanship—truly excellent. If I had to suggest one improvement: I could clearly hear floor staff calling into the kitchen to prompt the next dish (e.g., “Two normal for table xx!”). It would be better to use code words rather than saying “normal.” Other than that, everything was outstanding. If you come to Onomichi, this is an Accommodation you should stay at—no doubt about it.

    Delicious meals.

    Stayed with my first-grade child. The child's meal was supposed to be slightly smaller than the adult's, as mentioned, but it turned out to be the same portion as the adult's. Not knowing the portion size for children, we proceeded with the meal, and by the time we reached the meat dish, my child was full. We declined further dishes but were grateful that they kindly made rice balls from the sea bream rice for us. It would have been helpful if there had been a confirmation of portions at the beginning so that we could adjust accordingly and avoid food waste. There was a dish served with a flame still lit underneath; it seemed hot even for staff handling it, which made me feel uneasy. During our nighttime bath, I heard deep bass sounds resonating from outside that continued until early morning and made it difficult to sleep. While this is not within the facility's control, it was unfortunate. The dining staff were efficient and flexible in their service, making our stay pleasant overall. Thank you very much for providing such delicious meals!

    The place still felt...

    The place still felt new. We planned to eat dinner out, but there were few restaurants nearby, so it was challenging to find one. The sea bream rice for breakfast was delicious. The hinoki-scented bath in the Room was very pleasant.

    A compact accommodation, and this was my first stay. It was a pleasant accommodation. If I may say one thing, I would have appreciated an explanation of the Diamond Member benefits. Haha

    Elegance and Comfort

    This was my first stay at this accommodation. I was a bit nervous before entering, but the warm smiles of the staff made me feel completely at ease. The welcome drink, a deeply aromatic green tea paired with traditional sweets (including monaka and Keima's vegetable tempura), along with the calm atmosphere of the dining space where I waited until check-in, provided a truly relaxing experience. My room was on the first floor. The thoughtful lighting arrangements, high-quality amenities, and in-room beverages were exceptional. With two types of room wear available—yukata and pajamas—even those with sensitive skin can feel comfortable. Lying on the bed, I admired the traditional Japanese-style ceiling and enjoyed the view of the garden outside (it was a room plan with a private garden), which evoked a sense of nostalgia and made me appreciate being Japanese all over again. Breakfast featured delicately seasoned dishes with minimal salt, allowing the aroma and flavor of the main dish, sea bream, to shine through. The rice was also incredibly delicious. Above all, from before check-in to after check-out, the constant warm smiles of the staff created an atmosphere filled with comfort and reassurance. Both my mother and I were extremely satisfied with our stay. Thank you so much!

    Enjoy a full-course meal featuring sea bream.

    We enjoyed a heartfelt and delicious dinner together with a friend. Even though we were both full, the food was so tasty that we finished everything. The dish we’d love to try making at home is the sea bream and turnip hot pot. Adding tororo kombu at the end was a great touch. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

    Onomichi Accommodation - Highly Satisfying!

    Thank you for the room upgrade. We enjoyed a relaxing time with the cypress bath. The meal was a carefully prepared kaiseki course with many dishes, and by the time we had the final sea bream rice, we were full and appreciated your thoughtfulness in providing it as rice balls. The matsutake mushroom and pike conger dobimushi, our first of this year, was exceptional. If I have an opportunity to visit Onomichi, I would love to stay at your accommodation. Thank you in advance for your hospitality at that time.

    Cuisine-focused Accommodation

    I stayed here for sightseeing. The accommodation has a modern exterior with a traditional Japanese atmosphere, and the interior features warm wooden designs reminiscent of a high-end restaurant. The room is compact but furnished with calming decor, making it comfortable to relax. The bed is spacious and provides a good night's sleep. Although the bathroom feels small and is not an onsen, it was sufficient. The accommodation is conveniently located within a 10-minute walk to the famous ropeway and shopping streets. Being close to the sea, you can also enjoy strolling around the port, which adds to its appeal for sightseeing. The meals met my expectations perfectly. Dinner included delightful dishes such as dobin-mushi, two types of sashimi platters with distinct styles, and tai-meshi as the final course—all beautifully presented and deliciously prepared. Breakfast also featured tai-meshi that was exceptionally tasty, especially with its unique sesame sauce; I could imagine people visiting just for this dish! During this trip, I had tai-meshi at three different places, each offering its own unique flavor while fully showcasing the deliciousness of sea bream. The service provided by the staff was adequate for an accommodation of this level. However, I had some concerns regarding dinner time selection. I initially requested a late dinner time but was advised both before check-in and during my stay to switch to an earlier time due to many guests requesting late dinners—making it difficult for them to provide full service at that hour. Since my only opportunity for sightseeing in Onomichi was on that day, I initially declined but eventually agreed after narrowing down my plans to just visiting via ropeway so we could dine earlier instead. While we enjoyed having dinner at our adjusted time without feeling rushed in any way—it left me wondering why they allow guests to select their preferred dining times during reservation if they cannot accommodate all requests? If there are limitations on providing full service beyond certain numbers or timeslots—why not close off those options entirely when booking? Additionally—why ask again after being declined once already? Perhaps allowing guests flexibility by choosing meal timings upon arrival might work better given potential schedule changes? Despite these minor frustrations—the overall experience remained excellent thanks largely due how wonderful everything else about staying here felt—including great cost-performance value too! Should another chance arise where visiting Onomichi becomes possible—I would undoubtedly choose returning back here again!

    Excellent cuisine!!

    It was my first time visiting Onomichi, and I arrived a little earlier than the check-in time, but they kindly allowed me to check in. As mentioned in other reviews, the food was truly exceptional and left a lasting impression. The dining area is designed with partitions and steps so that other tables are not visible. Every dish had an extra touch of care and was delicious, providing great satisfaction. The presentation of the dishes was also delightful, and I was especially impressed by their attention to detail even with desserts like sherbet and fruit-based options. The sesame sauce for the sea bream rice porridge at breakfast was so delicious that I felt like eating multiple bowls of rice just with the sauce—I even wished I could purchase it separately! The room was new, clean, and functionally designed. When setting the bathwater temperature to 40°C, it felt slightly cooler than expected; adjusting it slightly higher might be better. All staff members were very pleasant and provided helpful advice for sightseeing.

    Highly recommended.

    I stayed in the Garden Twin accommodation. The room's entrance was close to the dining area and hallway, but it was a quiet and clean room that didn’t bother me at all. The bath was slightly small, but the relaxing hot water was excellent. Both the dinner course meal and breakfast were delicious, making me want to return just for the food. Additionally, the service was excellent.
