    There are various past reviews, but I was satisfied with the meals, service, and facilities. However, there is no TV installed in the room (which was not an issue for me as I didn't need it).

    Supreme Accommodation

    We stayed at this accommodation for my wife's birthday trip. It was a refreshing experience in the tranquility away from the hustle and bustle. Truly wonderful. The cuisine, room, onsen, and staff service were all exceptional. Highly recommended! It's an accommodation worth visiting again even from Aichi. 【Cuisine】 Dinner was served at a table with a view of the wood-fired grill. Every dish reflected the chef's dedication, introducing us to new flavors. The main course of fillet steak slowly grilled over firewood was the best meat I've ever had in my life. They also prepared a birthday celebration plate for my wife, which made her very happy. Breakfast was served in a beautiful space filled with natural sunlight, and every dish was delicious. 【Room】 The room featured calming elements of traditional Japanese paper and wood design, allowing natural light to filter through softly via the paper screens. The interior cleanliness was impeccable. The bath included hinoki wood accents that provided an amazing fragrance. Opening the window slightly let in a cool breeze that made it perfect. 【Staff】 When it started drizzling before check-out time, umbrellas were already prepared at the entrance; after dinner, they provided hot water bottles to take back to our room—every detail showed their thoughtful care. It seemed slightly busy during times when general visitors could use the large public bath (around check-out time).

    An extraordinary getaway wrapped in traditional Japanese washi paper.

    The cuisine was exceptional, as many have praised. The vegetable plate, with each type of vegetable prepared differently, was particularly delicious. I truly appreciated the focus on locally sourced ingredients and the effort to make as much as possible by hand—it was wonderful. The service was also pleasant, allowing us to enjoy a comfortable and delightful time. One small area for improvement would be the presence of numerous dead insects when we opened the shoji screens to view the outside scenery. While this may be unavoidable given the location, it might be worth checking occasionally.

    A memorable dinner full of flavor from fresh ingredients, leaving you completely satisfied.

    The dinner was absolutely fantastic. Although I forgot to take a photo of the first dish, it featured egg, and the fifth dish with cabbage had incredible flavors. The second dish, which seemed mild on its own, became delightful with sauce. Turnips stood out in the third dish but were more subtle in the sixth. Each ingredient harmonized beautifully without overpowering one another. The sea urchin in the first dish was also delicately flavorful. The main ingredients like pork from Uchiko, stone bream, fillet steak, and sirloin were all rich in taste. Desserts such as green tea gelato, strawberries, and chocolate were equally rich and delicious. After dinner, when returning to the villa on a chilly evening compared to Tokyo at this time of year, we appreciated being provided with hot water bottles and lanterns—a thoughtful touch. For breakfast, the beef tendon curry was particularly delicious. The staff provided impeccable service—efficient yet warm and welcoming. The villa itself was spacious enough with excellent heating facilities and a pleasant atmosphere. With a Bluetooth speaker available in-room for playing favorite music tracks, it offered an ideal environment for relaxation. While using the large communal bath during guest-only hours at night and morning (both times enjoying it privately), I noticed that at night there was still a lingering sweat-like smell in the sauna that made me hesitant to use it. However, soaking in our private room bath twice during our stay was very satisfying despite taking some time to fill up. Although food preferences vary by individual taste buds—this hotel is worth visiting specifically for its exceptional dining experience combined with relaxing accommodations. If possible someday again—I would love another visit here! Thank you very much!

    Enjoy the perfect balance of flame-cooked dishes and exquisite seasoning.

    Walk along the garden path from the cottage to the main lounge, where you can enjoy the restaurant and Onsen surrounded by nature and calming trees. Dinner is based on the concept of "wood-fired cuisine," offering expertly cooked French dishes, highly recommended for gourmet enthusiasts. For breakfast, three types of unique fresh eggs are available, including a special curry designed for egg-over-rice lovers—a truly delightful experience. Not far from the interchange leading to Auberge Uchiko on Matsuyama Expressway is JR Shimonada Station. Known as a picturesque spot with stunning sunsets, it has been associated with Studio Ghibli's "Spirited Away" and served as a filming location for the movie "HERO."

    Satisfaction

    The service and atmosphere were excellent. The meals, both dinner and breakfast, were especially delicious. However, the public bath was crowded as it was open to external visitors. The sauna was noisy with local residents chatting loudly. It was disappointing that the sauna mats in the early morning were wet and then dried out stiffly. Other than that, it was a perfect accommodation.

    A high-quality Stays where you can relax away from the hustle and bustle.

    Upon arrival, we enjoyed a welcome drink of sparkling wine and indulged in two hours of free drinks after our 3 PM arrival. All guest rooms are separate and spacious, offering a warm wooden feel while maintaining an elegant and sophisticated atmosphere for relaxation. The bath in the guest room can be used at any time, and by opening the window, you can enjoy an open-air feeling, providing a very luxurious experience. During our stay, we bathed five times, leaving our skin smooth. The meals were also very elaborate and delicious.

    Excellent!

    It was the best property among all the stays I've had so far. Room: About a 3-minute walk from the front desk and restaurant. There are lights at your feet, but it's quite dark (lol). It was quite cold since it was January. However, the room was so wonderful that such things didn't bother me, and the bath was spacious and comfortable! Meals: Simply the best. Every dish tasted and smelled great, and even though I was full, I enjoyed it until the end. Service: The service from the staff serving the meals and others was very pleasant. Thank you for the little touches. I will visit again!

    I would definitely like to visit again.

    It was really great as per the Review. The hanten was cute, and attention to detail was evident. The Room was also lovely and clean. Also, the bath temperature was on the hotter side, which was very nice. There were few people, so I could relax. As for the food, the striped jack was good. It was very delicious. I wish the sea bream was a bit lighter. I wanted some lemon squeezed here. However, overall it was beautifully delicious. The glass-walled dining area was also lovely. The staff maintained a perfect distance and interacted politely, which was nice. I usually don't write Reviews, but it was a Property I would like to visit again, so I recommend it when you go to Uchiko. I also went to Dogo Onsen, but it was crowded during the year-end, and I preferred Uchiko.

    This Stays is relaxing.

    Last year was my first stay, and this is my third time using the Property. Whenever I visit, I feel at ease with the attentive and kind service of the staff. It is a trustworthy Stays. The Room is filled with various thoughtful touches, enveloped in the warmth and scent of wood, which relaxes both body and mind. High-quality amenities, bedding, and towels are provided, allowing guests to enjoy the local specialties such as Uchiko's washi paper. The meals are carefully prepared, gentle on the body, and delicious. If I have one request, it would be that the faucet in the Room's bath and washbasin is a bit difficult to use, and adjusting the shower temperature is challenging.

    It was a wonderful stay.

    The hospitality is very polite and comfortable. I was particularly impressed with the dinner and breakfast, as the presentation and dishes were sophisticated, and there were many items, all of which were very delicious. The service was also polite, allowing us to eat at our own pace and relax. There was a wide variety of alcohol, and it was wonderful that there were many reasonably priced wines. It is appreciated that the Onsen Facility is reserved exclusively for guests with only five rooms at night and in the morning. It is compact and convenient, and I would definitely like to use it again. Considering the facilities, meals, and service, I thought the accommodation fee was reasonable. Since I am not fond of insects, I will visit again in the colder season.

    There is no television.

    I didn't know there was no TV, but instead, I enjoyed taking a leisurely bath and spending time on the terrace. The meals were wonderful and very satisfying. However, I was a bit uncomfortable with the insects that were attracted to the lights at night. I used mosquito coils at the terrace entrance, but the next morning, there were a lot of dead insects on the terrace.

    The property is located in a very beautiful environment within a park, and I had high expectations for the onsen and meals. I stayed in the Sweet Villa, but honestly, my expectations were too high, and my actual evaluation was lower. The room had a calm atmosphere with soft lighting suitable for adults, and there was no TV, making it a place where you could enjoy a leisurely conversation. The indoor bath was different from the image, with a tub too small to stretch your legs, and although there was a window, it couldn't be opened, and I was concerned that it seemed somewhat visible from other rooms. It was not an open-air bath where you could enjoy the onsen while feeling the flow of the wind and breathing in the fresh air. Rather, there was a dirt slope in front, giving the bath a sense of confinement. It might be just the Sweet Villa, but I was disappointed. The large public bath is located in the park, so locals can use it like a public bath, and I was advised not to use it from 3:00 PM to 8:30 PM. Although guests can use it, there were many local users, and it was noisy, far from the large public bath of a luxury ryokan. In the morning, it can only be used from 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM, and even though it can be used until 12:00 PM with Diamond, I didn't feel much benefit. It was frustrating that guests who pay a high accommodation fee have difficulty using it because locals are prioritized. Dinner was delicious, and breakfast felt like eating a set meal, perhaps because everyone's time overlapped to some extent. The staff's hospitality was also good. It's a lovely place, but considering the indoor bath and large public bath in relation to the price, I hesitate to visit again.

    There was something that caught my attention, and I would like to mention it first. A friend happened to be in the lobby the day before and overheard another guest asking about breakfast times. The next day, when heading to the restaurant, it seemed that the guest arrived earlier than their requested time. I didn't think much of it until a staff member came and said, "The rice is not ready yet, please wait a little longer." At this point, I understood that the guest who arrived earlier than their reservation time was served freshly cooked rice. We were left waiting in a cold restaurant for nearly 20 minutes. Understanding the situation made me feel uncomfortable. I would like this point to be properly improved so that guests who arrive on time for their reservation do not have to experience this. The sophisticated room covered entirely with washi paper, the view of the Uchiko townscape below, and the atmosphere from the reception to the accommodation building were all wonderful. I thought the staff's response was good as well. The dishes were mostly conservative, and there weren't many memorable plates, but the bagna cauda sauce, the curry at breakfast (←meat), and the homemade mentaiko were good. Even so, overall, I had a comfortable stay, and my friend was happy too. Thank you very much.

    A property where you can relax comfortably.

    Since it was a villa, we were able to relax leisurely. We enjoyed a luxurious time doing nothing but lounging on the chairs on the wooden deck. The meals were also delicious. I believe I heard that the bagna càuda sauce was mixed with barley miso, and it was very tasty, with colors and smoke that were visually enjoyable as well. Having Japanese-style breakfast was also nice. It was my first time having white eggs. We enjoyed a café latte on the terrace after the meal, allowing us to relax in nature at the end of our trip. We were blessed with good weather this time, but I felt that moving for meals might be difficult depending on the rain.

    It was my second time using it.

    This was my second stay following my visit in July. Last time, I had to check out early due to my schedule, so I couldn't relax, but this time I was able to relax in the room until the last minute and also enjoyed the onsen. For dinner, I took photos of the dishes and, of course, enjoyed them, but it's no exaggeration to say that I visited this time because I wanted to have the curry for breakfast. I remembered being impressed by how delicious it was when I first tried it last time. I had a pleasant stay this time as well, but there were a few disappointing points. One was that there was no stick to stir the water in the room's bath, which was available during my previous stay, and another was that when I woke up in the morning to have breakfast and moved from the accommodation building to the dining area, it was raining, but no umbrellas were provided, so my clothes got a little wet. It might have been unavoidable since it wasn't raining the day before, but it was disappointing. Other than that, I have nothing to say. I heard that the cherry blossoms on the premises bloom beautifully, so I would like to visit when the cherry blossoms are in bloom next time.

    A wonderful retreat on a rainy day.

    I stayed for a 2-night, 3-day trip. The first day was cloudy, but it rained continuously afterward. Still, the room was comfortable, and I was happy to spend a relaxing time. Coffee ground from beans, free drinks in the refrigerator, delicious tea snacks, a bath that can comfortably fit two people, the largest bed I've ever had in a hotel (lol), etc... and it was nice that there was no TV. The service was also polite and attentive. From the moment we arrived at the property to the time we departed, we were properly attended to. Each dish was beautifully presented, and you could feel the chef's meticulous work. The staff who served us were also very attentive. The only thing I would selfishly request is a bit more variety in the meals for a multiple night stay. I was impressed with each dish on the first day, so I wish I could feel the same on the second day... I will visit again for a 2-night, 3-day stay in a different season. Thank you for a wonderful holiday.

    I was able to relax.

    It was basically perfect. The food was delicious, and they properly responded to our selfish requests. All the staff were pleasant in their service. Just one point: During breakfast, while pouring drinks, someone asked from behind, "Isn't your meal time at 8:30?" I am sure, as I am an early riser and always choose an early time at any Stays, I said, "I think it's 8:00." They responded with "I see," and after that, our meal was served last. When we returned to the Room, it turned out it was indeed 8:00, so that part wasn't very pleasant! Even if it was said to be an input mistake, being asked in front of others, "Aren't you mistaken about the time?" is embarrassing. This left me feeling a bit uneasy. If it weren't for this point, among the many places we have stayed, it would have ranked high. It's quite a shame, I think, but I hope others don't experience this. I wrote this with that thought in mind.

    I was able to relax.

    My sister's family, who live in Uchiko, came to visit, and we were allowed to spend time together in the guest room. We were grateful for that! We appreciated the thoughtfulness! Next time, we would like to visit during the cherry blossom season!!

    A luxurious holiday to spend leisurely

    The room, designed with the image of a paper lantern, felt as if it was wrapped in washi paper, creating a wonderfully soothing space. The bathroom in the room was very spacious, and when you opened the door, it turned into a semi-open-air bath. I enjoyed alternating between this and the large public bath multiple times. And the delicious meals enjoyed in the glass-walled restaurant, illuminated by Japanese candles. We stayed for two nights with breakfast and dinner included, and the locally sourced menu, which changed daily, provided the most blissful moments. To all the staff who offered such thoughtful hospitality in every aspect, thank you very much. It became an unforgettable inn.
