    Relax in nature and lose track of time

    It felt like a Hotel shaped to fit the natural surroundings, rather than something artificially created and then placed there. On the day we stayed, it seemed there were only two parties in total, so we could enjoy both the meals and the baths at a relaxed pace. They apparently limit stays to five parties per day, and even if every party were a couple, that would mean at most ten guests—so I was surprised to see such an impressive large public bath. That day, I had it all to myself both at night and in the morning. (Until 9 p.m., non-staying visitors can also use it, but it didn’t feel like many people came.) For dinner, they used locally sourced vegetables—some of which they said were grown on-site—and cooked them slowly over the fireplace. We’re usually fast eaters as a couple, so even we were surprised that we spent nearly an hour and a half in the restaurant. Breakfast included a tasting of three different local eggs… I wondered if I could really eat that much, but I ended up finishing them anyway. The curry they made using leftover meat from the previous day was also delicious. In total we met six staff members, and the service was more than sufficient throughout our stay. I only noticed in the morning that this Accommodation has no TV. I took it as a message: why not step away from those things and truly unwind? The surrounding nature felt untouched—yet on closer look, it seemed quietly and thoughtfully maintained. Perhaps summer is off-season here; there weren’t many guests. Still, I’d love to return during cherry blossom season in spring or for autumn foliage.

    I would definitely like to stay here again.

    My elderly mother, who has difficulty walking, my daughter, and I stayed for one night. It was our first time here, and we were really looking forward to it after seeing the high Review ratings—and it truly lived up to them. The staff were attentive and considerate in every way, and we were completely satisfied with everything. We were able to forget about everyday life and relax at a leisurely pace. This is an Accommodation I can genuinely recommend, and I would love to stay again. Thank you very much.

    The Auberge Uchiko I’ve Always Dreamed Of

    After canceling a few times, I finally got to stay at the auberge I had been dreaming of. Located in a park, it offers a wonderfully relaxing atmosphere. The Room is a soothing space featuring traditional washi paper. Every dish is thoughtfully crafted creative cuisine, delicious and made with plenty of local ingredients. Yukata are welcome in the restaurant, and chopsticks are available. The staff are friendly, yet their service is polished and professional. Thank you very much.

    Everything is wonderful, and the food is especially delicious!

    This is the Accommodation I’ve been returning to the most lately. I feel like I’ve written this before, but it’s so exciting because everyday ingredients show up transformed into dishes you’ve never seen before. That said, it’s not “weird flavors” or anything—everything is delicious and beautifully presented! For dessert this time, we had homemade melon soda. Isn’t that everyone’s dream? The Room is also extremely comfortable. The wooden house is beautifully maintained, and you can truly relax there. And of course, it looks great too! I don’t think the posted photos fully capture how nice it really is. I was a bit worried about the heat, but it was fine. Of course, I think spring and autumn are the best seasons, but in summer the lush greenery made the garden especially lovely. I also appreciated the summer-only menu. The only problem with breakfast is that you end up eating it even when you’re already full. This time I made sure not to plan lunch in advance (lol). I’d love to come back again before too long.

    I definitely want to stay here again.

    This was an Accommodation I definitely want to return to after my stay. The Room was spotless, and the thoughtful care of the staff could be felt in every detail, allowing me to relax and unwind from my busy daily life. Above all, both dinner and breakfast exceeded my expectations. This is what it truly means to enjoy food—every dish was outstanding, from dessert to the after-meal tea. The drinks were also excellent, and while Ehime often brings Matsuyama to mind, after staying here, for me Ehime now means Uchiko. I will definitely visit again. Thank you for such a wonderful time.

    Your First Auberge

    It was a quiet, pleasant Accommodation with neatly trimmed flowers, bamboo, and trees. On the wooden deck, we enjoyed coffee while feeling the breeze, and the Room’s hinoki bath smelled wonderful and allowed us to relax. In this unhurried setting, we enjoyed a chef’s course meal made with locally sourced ingredients. The homemade sauces and carefully grilled meat were outstanding. Although we’re not very used to Western cuisine, we were able to enjoy it comfortably without any formality. Breakfast was also excellent—three kinds of egg-over-rice dishes, soup curry made with beef tendon from the previous day, and more. We felt this is an Accommodation where you can enjoy both the scenery and the meals in every season. We had a truly wonderful time. Thank you very much.

    Relaxing Accommodation

    This was my first trip to Ehime, and I stayed at this auberge in Uchiko. The cherry blossoms were in full bloom, and the approach leading to the annex had a lovely atmosphere. The interior was also a relaxing space. The Onsen in the Room was wonderful as well. All of the staff who assisted us were very pleasant, and we enjoyed delicious meals. There were even a few ingredients I especially liked, giving me the added pleasure of visiting local shops to buy them! Thank you very much for your hospitality.

    I was a little surpr...

    I was a little surprised that the Accommodation’s entrance and reception are shared with day-use Onsen guests. The room felt somewhat worn with age. However, the private Onsen bath in the room was spacious, and it was wonderful to soak while looking out at the garden. Sitting on the terrace deck chair, I sometimes felt a fleeting beauty as cherry blossom petals drifted away on the breeze. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent in taste, presentation, and overall appearance. The drink menu was extensive, and the prices were reasonable.

    A relaxing accommodation with delicious meals

    An Accommodation located on a hill in a park (Ryuo Park) in Uchiko. The Room offers a panoramic view of the town. The Room is spacious, with separate bedroom and living areas, and the in-room bath was also large and very relaxing. It was still a bit chilly at this time of year (mid-March), but in addition to air conditioning there was an oil heater and a warm-air heater with humidifying function, so we stayed very comfortable. There is no TV installed in the Room, but they will lend you a portable TV if needed. The meals were excellent, and we enjoyed both dinner and breakfast featuring local ingredients. I brought a collared shirt just in case there was a dress code for meals, but it wasn’t necessary. We also enjoyed the large public bath from 6:00 a.m., making for a wonderful stay.

    I was truly soothed ...

    I was truly soothed by the stylish Room and the bath with its calming hinoki aroma. The large public bath was spacious and wonderful as well. The complimentary coffee and lemon madeleines were delicious, and I wish I had arrived earlier to fully enjoy my time in the Room. Above all, the meals were outstanding—although I usually eat a light breakfast, I ended up having two extra bowls of rice. All of the staff were very pleasant, making it a perfect holiday!

    Savor exquisite cuisine. A once-in-a-lifetime wedding memory spent in Uchiko.

    My spouse and I stayed here to celebrate Valentine’s Day on February 14, as well as our very special 31st wedding anniversary. In short, it was a truly unforgettable stay that far exceeded our expectations. A one-of-a-kind dinner crafted over a wood fire The highlight of this trip was, without question, the dinner. Each creative dish prepared using an open wood fire arrived with a rich, fragrant aroma of burning logs, bringing surprise and delight with every course. The irresistible smokiness from the direct flame on the outside and the juicy flavors sealed inside each ingredient were exceptional. Watching the gentle flicker of Japanese candles on our table while enjoying an unhurried meal felt like pure luxury for adults. A moment in harmony with a historic townscape The Accommodation itself was wonderful as well. Surrounded by Uchiko’s calm yet dignified atmosphere, we were able to spend peaceful time together as a couple. Thanks to the staff’s thoughtful hospitality, our anniversary felt even more special. Looking forward to next time This time we focused on enjoying our stay at the Accommodation, so we will save sightseeing—such as the preserved streetscape district—for our next visit. We would love to return and stroll through Uchiko’s beautiful scenery. This is an outstanding Accommodation that I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone who wants to share genuine luxury with someone important. Thank you very much to all of the staff.

    First-time user.

    We enjoyed delicious meals and the Onsen. The service was excellent, making our stay very comfortable. Dinner was delightful. Breakfast was Japanese-style, but the seasoning wasn't to my taste. The large public bath was available for private use the next morning, which we appreciated. The Room's Onsen uses heated spring water from a faucet, so it required some adjustments for multiple uses. Overall, it was a satisfying stay. Thank you very much!

    A wonderful accommodation.

    I have stayed countless times, and this wonderful accommodation never fails to exceed expectations. The thoughtful attention of the long-standing male staff and the considerate care of the new manager are outstanding. The meals are delicious, and I enjoyed relaxing by soaking in the onsen multiple times, making my stay truly pleasant. I am looking forward to visiting again during Golden Week!

    I visited this summer and returned because of how comfortable it was. Not only is the comfort of the Room exceptional, but the staff's warm hospitality makes it even more relaxing. This time, a very cozy quilted blanket was provided, which added to the comfort. The meals were all incredibly delicious, and I even bought some Hishio miso used in their signature Bagna Cauda sauce at a nearby vegetable market to take home. I look forward to visiting throughout all seasons.

    It was a wonderful accommodation.

    It was the best ever.

    I travel around the whole country about 30 days a year. For my first trip to Ehime, I decided to explore somewhere other than the famous Matsuyama City and was drawn to a private villa featuring delicious-looking wood-fired cuisine and an Onsen. The male staff member who greeted me at the front desk was incredibly elegant, kind, and attentive. Later, when serving at the restaurant, his explanations of the dishes went beyond just introducing ingredients; his storytelling conveyed a sense of drama and background that was truly captivating. I usually dislike French cuisine that looks luxurious but is heavy with oil or sugar, so I had some concerns. However, from the appetizers onward, everything exceeded my expectations in terms of taste. The cooking methods and seasoning highlighted the quality of carefully selected ingredients in a way that felt both indulgent yet light on my body—a perfect balance for travelers concerned about gaining weight while enjoying their meals. The private villa offered a relaxing space with cleanliness, stylish design, and warm wooden touches. The cypress bath was not outdoors but allowed for peaceful soaking without worrying about weather or privacy issues—and the Onsen itself felt wonderful as well. Since I live without television at home by choice, having no TV in the room felt refreshing and beautiful to me. Gazing at greenery while grinding coffee beans for quiet drip brewing moments added another layer of tranquility. Everything about this experience was absolutely exceptional!

    The finest dining

    The meals were truly amazing. The French dinner was perfect in terms of content, taste, and presentation, leaving us completely satisfied. It would have been nice to have wine pairings available. The Japanese breakfast was just as impressive as the dinner. The homemade curry and pickles were so delicious that we couldn't stop eating. Both the Room's bath and the large public bath provided a relaxing experience. Surrounded by nature, we felt at ease with the sounds of birds and the greenery of trees. While it seems thoughtful to prioritize nature by not having a TV in the Room, it did feel a bit lonely at times. The staff were kind and provided warm-hearted service throughout our stay. We would love to visit again!

    Relaxing Time

    I had been interested in this accommodation for a long time, and I finally had the chance to stay here for the first time. From the moment I arrived, the staff greeted me promptly at the parking lot and guided me to the lounge where I enjoyed a welcome drink during check-in. The relaxed pace from the start was wonderful. Afterward, I was shown to my room, which was very comfortable. Above all, the private bath in the room was amazing! The meals were just as delicious as mentioned in reviews. Both dinner and breakfast were truly delightful with beautiful presentation. Everything tasted fantastic. The staff provided attentive service until the very end, making me want to visit again during another season! Thank you for such a wonderful experience.

    Highly Satisfied

    I had a very pleasant stay. The staff were very kind, the meals were delicious, and the bath and view from the room were wonderful. A minor issue was that the window leading from the bath to the balcony did not open fully (only about 1/3), and I couldn't find a shower cap, which was a bit disappointing. However, overall it was an excellent accommodation. Thank you very much!

    I visited during the cherry blossom season, and the cherry blossoms on the property were beautiful. The room had a traditional Japanese design with washi paper and wood, featuring soft indirect lighting at your feet, creating a wonderful atmosphere. The meals were not only delicious but also visually delightful, making every dish an enjoyable experience. The staff provided excellent service from check-in to check-out. I used the large public bath outside of the hours for day-use Onsen guests, and it felt like a private experience—very relaxing and enjoyable. Thanks to Auberge Uchiko, I had an amazing trip!     An accommodation you’ll want to visit regularly with the changing seasons.

    This was my second visit. I returned during the cherry blossom season because my previous stay was excellent. It was my third time in Uchiko, so this trip's purpose was more about enjoying delicious food and relaxing in the room rather than sightseeing. It turned out to be a highly satisfying stay, deserving of a "perfect" review in every aspect. Both times I stayed for multiple nights, and during my previous visit, I mentioned in a review that while the meals on the second day were delicious, they lacked significant variation from the first day’s menu despite changes in ingredients, which slightly diminished the initial excitement. However, this time, even on the second day, there were diverse and flavorful dishes just like on the first day. Breakfasts were also delightful—Japanese-style on the first day and Western-style on the second—enjoyed at seats with beautiful views of cherry blossoms. The service was very attentive as well; I am truly grateful for discovering such a wonderful accommodation. I look forward to visiting again during another season!

    An Accommodation Overflowing with Local Pride

    This was probably my first time staying at an entire rental accommodation for a solo trip. It was a very calming facility, and I could feel the staff's deep affection for Uchiko Town, making it an impressive accommodation. The meals, drinks, and even the local Uchiko Japanese candles reflected a strong commitment to local products. The food was excellent, especially breakfast—it was the best suited to my taste among all accommodations I've stayed at in recent years. The next day had light rain unfortunately, and I had to walk outside with an umbrella from the room to the front desk or dining area. However, walking through the beautifully moss-covered garden was quite soothing. Coincidentally, as I am considering rebuilding my house on a gently sloping site with good views to the north side, this accommodation's design provided inspiration on how to bring in sunlight from the south while creating an open structure facing north. It is a perfect match for Uchiko Town's historic atmosphere.

    Wonderful Accommodation

    I had a Multiple Night Stay and enjoyed delicious meals on both days. The dishes, made with ingredients from Ehime, were delicate and beautifully presented. I was extremely satisfied. The staff members were wonderful, making my stay truly relaxing. This is an Accommodation I would love to visit again.

    It was a very enjoyable birthday.

    My wife and I stayed at the accommodation to celebrate my birthday. As I was using a wheelchair, I may have caused some inconvenience, but the staff were very considerate, allowing us to enjoy our stay without any difficulties. The meals were exceptionally delicious and truly moving—it had been a long time since we experienced such flavors. Thank you so much for providing us with such a wonderful time.

    Supreme Accommodation

    We stayed at this accommodation for my wife's birthday trip. It was a refreshing experience in the tranquility away from the hustle and bustle. Truly wonderful. The cuisine, room, onsen, and staff service were all exceptional. Highly recommended! It's an accommodation worth visiting again even from Aichi. 【Cuisine】 Dinner was served at a table with a view of the wood-fired grill. Every dish reflected the chef's dedication, introducing us to new flavors. The main course of fillet steak slowly grilled over firewood was the best meat I've ever had in my life. They also prepared a birthday celebration plate for my wife, which made her very happy. Breakfast was served in a beautiful space filled with natural sunlight, and every dish was delicious. 【Room】 The room featured calming elements of traditional Japanese paper and wood design, allowing natural light to filter through softly via the paper screens. The interior cleanliness was impeccable. The bath included hinoki wood accents that provided an amazing fragrance. Opening the window slightly let in a cool breeze that made it perfect. 【Staff】 When it started drizzling before check-out time, umbrellas were already prepared at the entrance; after dinner, they provided hot water bottles to take back to our room—every detail showed their thoughtful care. It seemed slightly busy during times when general visitors could use the large public bath (around check-out time).
