The room stay was fine, but the staff level was too low. During check-in around 3:00 PM, one person at the front desk was on the phone for a long time, making us wait significantly. Meanwhile, another staff member was vacuuming nearby. They might not have been in charge of the front desk, but it felt odd. Shouldn't there be at least two people during check-in hours? When escorted to the room and asked about things mentioned on the website, they couldn't answer immediately. Even though we arrived at our reserved breakfast time, it took over 15 minutes to be served—defeating the purpose of reserving a time in advance. As mentioned in other reviews regarding hotel credits, we were only informed about them when we asked right before checking out. Moreover, since checkout was on Monday and all shops like bakeries were closed that day, prior notice during check-in would have allowed us to use them effectively. I had been looking forward to this stay after seeing it featured in comics but left disappointed and wouldn't recommend it to anyone else.

    First Time in Maebashi

The Room was stylish and very relaxing. The meals at the restaurant were absolutely delicious and beautifully presented like art. We highly recommend joining the art tour, where we enjoyed fascinating stories about Maebashi's history and art. However, the sauna was disappointing. Perhaps due to ongoing construction, the entrance area inside was muddy, and only two towels (one of each size) were provided per person with no cotton pads or swabs available. Without underfloor heating, our feet felt cold, making it hard to relax after using the sauna. Improvements are necessary if charging this price point.

This is my 4th stay in 2 years.

I opted for breakfast and a light evening meal this time, as I wasn't confident about finishing a full course meal at the main dining. The herbal mist sauna included in the plan was very relaxing, allowing me to unwind while sipping mineral water. In my previous review, I mentioned that the lounge service lacked a sense of local pride and felt somewhat underwhelming. However, this time, I sensed an incredible enthusiasm as if saying, "Bring it on; we’ll make sure you’re satisfied." The staff answered all our questions thoroughly and even remembered that it had been two years since our last visit, clearly explaining the changes made since then. The guided tour the next morning provided insights into the art pieces within the hotel, deepening my understanding of its design and artworks. Thank you for such an enjoyable and fulfilling experience. Even if you're not particularly interested in art or Maebashi itself, I highly recommend inviting someone special to visit—it’s bound to be a memorable stay. I also love the cuisine at the main dining room. Looking forward to enjoying their non-alcoholic pairings again on my next visit!

I had been curious about this accommodation, which had been a topic of interest for some time, and decided to stay as I happened to be in the area. I joined the guided tour of the hotel, which was fascinating as it not only explained the art but also provided insights into the hotel's structure. I highly recommend joining if you have a chance. The room was very comfortable, with user-friendly lighting controls and a spacious bathtub that allowed me to fill it faster than any other hotel I've stayed at before. Although I couldn't try the restaurant's course dinner due to having an event with meals earlier in the day, I found the lounge's light snacks and drinks service along with their late-night "okirikomi" noodles more than sufficient. At the lounge, I also enjoyed comparing sherry poured using a venencia versus traditionally poured sherry—a delightful experience! My husband from Northern Kanto commented that "okirikomi isn't usually this refined," but we both agreed it was just right as a late-night snack. For breakfast, we chose Japanese cuisine. Each dish was delicious (especially the rolled omelet—it was one of the best I've had recently). When I mentioned my dislike for natto, they kindly replaced it with fried tofu instead, which was also excellent! The portions were more than satisfying. Though opportunities to visit Maebashi are rare for us, I'd love to stay here again if given another chance!

    Wonderful Hotel

This was my second stay, and it is truly a wonderful Hotel with no faults. The staff maintain a perfect distance, allowing even solo travelers to relax. The meals are excellent, and I highly recommend the two-meal plan. I believe it is a Hotel worth visiting from afar. I will definitely use it again.

    Extraordinary Experience

As a reward for myself, I stayed here for one night, which I had been curious about for a while. I felt like I experienced an extraordinary atmosphere that probably cannot be felt even at a high-end Ryokan or luxury Hotel. The tour inside the facility was also very interesting as I participated after listening to the explanations in the booklet. It was very quiet in the Room, and I was able to relax. The dinner was in an open kitchen, so I could enjoy it alone while having a delicious meal. I thought it would be nice to have postcards of the art inside the facility as souvenirs for friends. (Or maybe I just didn't notice them?) The staff were all kind and accommodating, making it a great trip. I recommend it to my friends. I would like to visit again if I have the opportunity, to experience the extraordinary. Thank you very much.

It was a happy stay surrounded by art.

Due to a cancellation, I was unexpectedly able to stay at the Shiraiya Hotel I had been curious about! The beauty of the atrium and the changing colors of the pipes at different times of the day were mesmerizing. The room was elegant, and the comfort of the bed was exceptional. Above all, the most wonderful aspect was having access to Tatsuo Miyajima's work in the Finnish sauna. I was able to enjoy the luxury of having it all to myself. Overall, it was a series of moving experiences, and I will definitely stay again. Thank you very much.

    Art Hotel in Maebashi

The day after my business trip to Takasaki, although brief, was a very meaningful time. As part of the Maebashi Revitalization Project, a special space was provided where you can experience the extraordinary with all five senses through the revival of a historic Ryokan in collaboration with domestic and international artists. Of course, dinner and breakfast were exceptional experiences. A dish that transformed the local cuisine "Okirikomi" into a French style was a piece that exuded the chef's love for his hometown. I received "Jomo Karuta," which all children in Gunma Prefecture know, as a souvenir, so I would like to unravel its history. The design and arrangement of all the Rooms seem to be different, and the Room this time was unified in ice blue. Since it's my favorite color, I was able to relax very much.

The parking lot was nearby, and both the exterior and interior were very beautiful. The room was spacious and allowed us to relax. At the restaurant, we had the rare experience of pairing drinks with our dinner, which was delicious and enjoyable. The sauna was quite large when we saw it in person, and we had a fulfilling time. One concern was that instead of checking in at the reception upon arrival, we were offered a welcome drink at the café right next door. We were told to place all our luggage on the table (even the ones we had just placed on the floor). The check-in process began while the café was almost full, with other guests sitting right next to us, leading to a breach of personal information. Is it necessary to do it there? When we arrived, there was no one at the reception, and it wasn't crowded. We had informed them of several allergies, but in the quiet atmosphere of the restaurant, each one was confirmed individually. Despite the confirmation, the food contained allergens. There was no point in notifying them in advance. As expected, I developed a rash. We had also reserved the sauna, but there was little information available online about the sauna beforehand. We ended up bringing unnecessary items. Additionally, on the day, we received numerous verbal explanations, and when we wanted to confirm something, the hotel's pamphlet only had a floor map, so we had to ask directly about anything we missed or forgot, which was very inconvenient.
