I had been intereste...
I had been interested in this Hotel for some time and was really looking forward to my stay. The staff were wonderful—better than I had imagined. After enjoying a welcome drink, I was shown to my Room, which was spacious and had an elegant atmosphere. The bathroom was especially distinctive and was one of the reasons I chose this Room; it would have been even better if bath salts or bath additives were provided. I also joined the Hotel tour and had a great time. Dinner was delicious across the board and truly impressive. I loved the presentation of finishing the dish by pouring the sauce right in front of me—it was exciting. It was also great that complimentary drinks in the lounge were available until 11:00 p.m., and I enjoyed the late-night okirikomi service as well. Breakfast was Japanese-style; the salmon was moist, fluffy, boneless, and very tasty. The seasoning of some side dishes felt more suited to bread, so I thought a more Japanese flavor profile would pair better with rice. I bought miso financiers as souvenirs, and although it was just one night, it became a truly enjoyable and wonderful stay. Shopping at mina perhonen ovi was also fun, and next time I’d like to visit in a different season and stay in one of the mina perhonen Rooms as well. Thank you very much.

It was a Hotel stay ...
It was a Hotel stay where we could fully enjoy contemporary art. We appreciated the detailed explanations during the in-house tour. Unfortunately, the restaurant was closed that day, but we thoroughly enjoyed the lounge’s complimentary drinks. All of the staff were very kind—they lent us an umbrella on a rainy day and even guided us to the bakery. This is a Hotel we would love to stay at again.

Dinner and the Hotel’s interiors are works of art.
The guest rooms, the Hotel facilities, and the dining—everything is wonderfully artistic. Before dinner, I joined an in-house art tour, which was fantastic; I really enjoyed learning about the Hotel’s history, the renovation process, and behind-the-scenes stories leading up to its opening. Dinner was outstanding—each dish by Chef Katayama was delicate, beautiful, and absolutely delicious. I also enjoyed the lounge both before and after dinner, with great drinks and snacks; the beef jerky was exceptional, and I thoroughly enjoyed the wine and beer as well. Breakfast was a delicious Japanese meal made with ingredients from Gunma. This is a Hotel I would definitely love to visit again if I have the chance.

Thank you very much ...
Thank you very much for your hospitality. The check-in service, the cleanliness of the Room, and the delicious breakfast were all excellent. Before eating, I thought breakfast might be a bit small, but it was just the right amount. It tasted great and I was very satisfied. The lounge snacks were also delicious—I ended up having seconds of the canelé and bread. If I have a chance to visit Maebashi again, I would love to stay here again.

It was a space where our family could spend lots of time talking together.
The Room, shared spaces, and hospitality all felt perfectly balanced, and I was truly able to relax. I also really enjoyed the breakfast set. The Shimonita natto paired wonderfully with the white rice, and that lingering taste kept me in a great mood all day. I’d love to visit again.

First time in Maebashi
It was a great Hotel. Many of the staff are stylish and well-presented, too. The in-house tour is just the right length and enjoyable. I decided to make a last-minute Reservation for the sauna, and that was great as well. If you can get a Reservation, I recommend giving it a try. The food is delicious, too. The “Okirikomi” served after 9 p.m. was even better than expected, and the main dishes—made mainly with ingredients from Gunma—were more thoughtfully prepared than I imagined, with flavors that suited my taste. The free-flow drinks were also much appreciated. This Accommodation has a story. It made me feel that art doesn’t necessarily reside only in outstanding works of art; perhaps art is more about spirit and attitude. It was striking to see people passing by stopping to take photos of this Hotel. If you ask whether I’d like to return again, my answer is definitely yes.

I underestimated Maebashi.
After visiting Sou Fujimoto’s exhibitions at the Mori Art Museum last year, the Expo Grand Roof Ring, and Musashino Art University Library, I finally stayed at his Hotel! The art is so impressive that you’ll end up taking the stairs quite a lot. I also booked the bar—this one is by Hiroshi Sugimoto! We had it all to ourselves. Our schedule was: 17:00 dinner, 20:00 bar, 21:30 art lounge, and a 9:30 tour the next morning. Maebashi is really committed to art, so we were very satisfied with nearby spots like Bell of the Sun, Galleria, and Arts Maebashi; a bit farther out are Rinkokaku and JINS PARK.

Stylish from every angle
This stylish art Hotel is photogenic from every angle, and they even offer guided tours that explain the artworks inside, making it more than just viewing—an experience we truly enjoyed. As a concept Hotel, I didn’t have especially high expectations for hospitality, but it was flawless. Dinner at the Restaurant was delicious with no issues even though the chef was away that day, and it was also great that we could enjoy complimentary okirikomi noodles and drinks in the night lounge. Only the breakfast quality was a bit below expectations, but overall it was a wonderful experience. Thank you very much.

Everything was wonde...
Everything was wonderful—from the architecture and art to the atmosphere of the Room, and even the service from the Hotel staff. Joining the art tour made the experience even more enjoyable, and I highly recommend it to anyone staying here. Both dinner and breakfast were far more delicious than expected. The pickles at breakfast—made with a secret family recipe from the chef’s mother—were especially memorable. The loungewear was also soft and comfortable—so much so that I would buy it if it were for sale. I appreciated that there was a time when free drinks were available in the building. The Room refrigerator items were also complimentary, but since it only included apple juice, I would have been even happier if there had been alcohol or tea as well. This is an irresistible Hotel for anyone who loves architecture and art.

Hospitality that helps you recharge
It was a truly happy time, surrendering myself to art and spending time in a rich space shaped by the staff’s attentiveness and the property’s temperature, scent, and music. ○Overall: The property was very quiet, and the blend of concrete with soft fabrics, artworks, greenery, and light created a calming atmosphere. ○Front desk & lounge staff: They greeted me with warm smiles and carried themselves with refined professionalism. Even their interactions with one another showed consideration, such as keeping their voices low. ○Room: The amenities were exactly what I needed—nothing excessive or lacking—and the layout and color palette were relaxing. ○Housekeeping: I had a Multiple Night Stay, yet they were so professional that I never noticed any noise or conversation. ○Dinner: The smooth teamwork between the chef and staff was wonderful, and they responded flexibly to my questions about drinks, making for an enjoyable evening. Chef Katayama’s dishes were rich in texture and aroma, bringing out deep flavors from vegetables as well as meat and fish; true to the word “restaurer,” they restored my energy both mentally and physically. Breakfast was also excellent—the way each ingredient was used and the overall balance were superb—and I enjoyed it with great satisfaction. I stayed for 2 nights, and I sincerely hope to return again. Thank you very much.

An artistic Hotel you'll want to photograph again and again.
Stayed in April and had such a great experience that I decided to return. The previous room was wonderful, but this time, I was captivated by the sophisticated atmosphere of the new room. Within the hotel, there were more art pieces than in April, and a limited-time art illumination event added even more enjoyment! I took photos last time too, but the artistic spaces are so captivating that I couldn’t resist taking more pictures again. The art illumination was especially unique and stunning—something you won’t find elsewhere. I’m glad I visited during this season. I definitely want to come back again! The only disappointment was that the beer previously stocked in the fridge wasn’t available this time.

A unique and valuable stay like no other.
During a business trip to Takasaki, I took a short detour to Maebashi and visited this accommodation. Renowned architect Sou Fujimoto led the renovation of what was originally an ordinary old concrete building, formerly known as the Shiroya Ryokan. The transformation is bold and impressive, with a design that is difficult to describe in words. I stayed in one of the more affordable rooms, but it was still very spacious, equipped with modern and stylish facilities, making my stay extremely comfortable. Throughout the facility, contemporary art pieces are displayed similarly to Benesse House on Naoshima Island. Guided tours of these artworks are held twice daily and offer fascinating insights. As an auberge-style accommodation, the dining experience here is exceptional. Dinner especially stood out—a modern counter French meal prepared in an open kitchen where guests can watch the chefs at work. The dishes were creative and delicious (including perfectly paired wines), showcasing the chef's dedication to using local ingredients from Gunma Prefecture. Maebashi may not be widely recognized as a tourist destination for those from Tokyo like myself. However, despite challenges such as population decline leading to shuttered streets around the area, Maebashi City aims to promote itself as a city of art—and this hotel seems part of that initiative. I look forward to visiting again when traveling through Northern Kanto!

Hotel with Excellent Service
I stayed with my 5-year-old daughter for a trip, and we had a wonderful experience. The staff kindly helped with a Christmas surprise, creating unforgettable memories for us. On the first evening, we joined an art tour where we learned about the artwork in the accommodation. My daughter enjoyed it as well. We were also delighted to be allowed into unoccupied rooms. The Minä Perhonen room we stayed in was adorable, private, and very comfortable. Having a washing machine was helpful for cleaning my child’s clothes quickly. Since the floor is concrete, warmer room shoes would have been nice. Additionally, as it was quite cold and both air conditioners were running at full capacity, another strong humidifier would have made our stay even more comfortable despite having an air purifier with humidifying functions. Dinner was truly exceptional; every dish impressed us deeply. Staying here just for dinner is worth it! The signature "Okirikomi" dish left a lasting impression with its surprising appearance and taste—it’s unforgettable! However, breakfast felt slightly less fresh compared to dinner (the fruits seemed to have been cut earlier as they showed slight discoloration). Afternoon tea and snacks/drinks available from 5 PM at the lounge were highly satisfying though; improving breakfast quality would make everything perfect. I stay at various hotels throughout the year but rarely write reviews unless I’ve had an extraordinary experience that lingers after returning home. While I’ve provided some constructive feedback here from a critical perspective, overall this was an incredibly satisfying stay. The hotel staff were exceptionally kind and made our time there pleasant—thank you so much! I look forward to visiting again with my daughter soon and am already excited about choosing which room to stay in next time!

Blissful Moments
I traveled alone but had a very relaxing stay, and Chef Katayama's cuisine was not only delicious but also a wonderful experience for all the senses. Even those who are not fond of alcohol can enjoy the perfect pairing of food and drinks, which was truly delightful. It’s such a lovely space filled with thoughtful touches, and I would love to visit again!

We had a luxurious time.
This was my second stay in three years. Being able to check in while seated was a great start. The staff provided polite service and even offered tea, leaving a positive impression from the beginning. I joined an art tour after preparing with the audio guide provided. The staff's guidance was thorough, and they answered all my questions thoughtfully, showing their expertise. The explanations using tablet devices were also clear and helpful. I had dinner at the restaurant here, and every dish from start to finish was crafted with care and passion—truly outstanding. I left feeling full and satisfied both in quality and quantity. The open kitchen allowed me to enjoy watching the chefs and staff prepare meals while waiting, which added to the experience. The service during dinner was excellent as well. After dinner, I spent time at the lounge until 11 PM. Both drinks and food were of high quality; I especially enjoyed "Okkirikomi," which tasted amazing despite being full from dinner—it felt like there was always room for it! Spending time under the atrium while admiring the lighting pipe made for an incredible evening. For breakfast, I chose Japanese cuisine. It felt more like homestyle cooking rather than dishes prepared by a professional Japanese chef—while delicious overall, it left me wanting slightly more refinement as someone who prefers traditional Japanese culinary styles by skilled chefs. However, dining in a lounge filled with morning light made it a special experience. Overall, I feel that this stay offered even more luxurious services compared to three years ago. The staff's hospitality struck a perfect balance between politeness and natural warmth—it truly stood out as exceptional service. I hope to visit again someday!

Special Hotel
From the exterior photos, I always wanted to stay at this Hotel. Overall impression: It was great! First, the staff were young but very bright and provided pleasant service! The Room had excellent design sense, and the building itself was also stylish—a very comfortable space. Dinner is not available for children, which was disappointing as I consider meals part of the stay experience. Breakfast was average. However, there is an all-you-can-drink alcohol service in the lounge at night. I used the sauna, and it was fantastic! But the outdoor relaxation area is visible from outside, which might be uncomfortable for women. This Hotel made me glad I stayed!

Thank you for your support.
Thank you very much for your hospitality. I apologize for the delay in posting this review. It was a truly wonderful Hotel. The stylish and sophisticated design, along with the calm atmosphere, left a lasting impression, and I had an incredibly comfortable stay. The Hotel felt like a serene hideaway for adults, allowing me to relax quietly and leisurely. The meals were innovative and absolutely delicious, leaving me feeling happy. The detailed explanations of each dish made them taste even better. Although there was a slight misunderstanding regarding the attached shop, your sincere response deeply moved me—thank you so much for that thoughtful care! I would love to stay here again in the future!

Exclusive tours for accommodation guests are a must-see.
We offer daily 30-40 minute art tours for our guests. It was very interesting and gave the feeling of staying in an art museum. The lounge, accessible after 5 PM, had a great atmosphere, providing a luxurious time to relax while enjoying the artworks with explanations. The variety of drinks was also impressive. I would love to stay here again.

An accommodation you can enjoy every time you visit.
This is a repeat stay. Last time, I visited while my wife was pregnant. This time, we are staying as a group of four with our daughter and my father. The limited-time art exhibits are wonderful and make us want to come back again. Also, the evening "Okirikomi" dish is absolutely delicious no matter how many times you have it. My wife missed out on it last time as she was asleep and regretted it deeply. We love this accommodation and plan to stay regularly in the future.

In the intense midsummer heat, it was tough to go out, so I chose a Plan with breakfast and dinner included. It was the right choice. In any case, the food was delicious, and you could really feel their love for the local area. One thing I noticed is that it would be easier for older guests and visitors from overseas if signs like “Free Wi‑Fi” were written in larger letters, and if labels such as free drinks were also displayed in English. Other than that, everything—including the service and Facilities—was excellent.

About Parking Usage
The facility was clean and comfortable, making for a satisfying stay. Parking is available at the nearby bank's underground parking lot. By using the service ticket provided at check-in, you can enter and exit for free within the designated time; however, it seems to be single-use only. Since I stayed for two nights, I paid approximately 4,200 yen upon checkout. Please note that the payment machine only accepts 1,000-yen bills.

Maebashi No.1 Hotel
The renovated old building features a unique lounge with an open ceiling that never gets boring, no matter how long you stay. The staff is exceptionally kind and attentive. The breakfast offers value comparable to luxury hotels or ryokans. The only drawback is that the guest rooms are small with many steps. Ideal for those staying with the hotel as their main destination.

The cleaning is not thorough.
There were some details that caught my attention, such as notes left on the memo pad, debris in the bathroom drain, and cream on the bathroom wall. Considering the high price, these stood out to me. However, the atmosphere was lovely. It might have just been an off day for the person who cleaned that Room.

A Fusion of Art and Gastronomy to Inspire You
The entire Hotel, including the interior, rooms, and exterior, was filled with art, making every view picture-perfect. The changing perspectives over time kept the excitement alive throughout our stay. The guided tour of the Hotel allowed us to enter unoccupied rooms, which was a delightful experience. Highly recommended! The room was stylish, and I loved the thoughtfully selected amenities. From afternoon tea to the lounge, restaurant, and bakery—every meal exceeded expectations and was absolutely delicious. Although we hadn't made a Reservation for dinner at the restaurant in advance, we were invited during check-in to join a special collaboration dinner that became a memorable highlight of our stay—thank you so much! The in-room sauna in the morning was incredibly refreshing; I would love to experience it again. It would be even better if it started earlier so there’s more time before Check-Out to relax fully. Next time, I’d like to try staying in a different Room and also visit the bar!

Stayed during Golden Week. This art-inspired hotel exceeded my expectations! Although there was no view from the room due to its central location, the art, refrigerator, and thoughtful amenities made for a very comfortable stay. The restaurant offered dishes featuring Gunma's local ingredients and menu, which were delightful. Despite having limited seating, the open kitchen created a dinner experience that felt like watching a stage performance, with opportunities to interact with the staff—a great setup. The pairing options can be adjusted in quantity and are highly recommended. In the evening, I enjoyed complimentary drinks and food at the lounge, while in the morning I joined an art tour. The lighting and natural sunlight gave different impressions of the interior throughout the day—it was wonderful. Next time, I’d love to try staying in another room!

Was the Room type different?
I had a reservation for a Deluxe Twin Room through IKYU, where the photos showed a room with a window and a bathroom with gray walls. However, the actual room had no windows, which felt quite enclosed. The bathroom had white tiles (similar to the "Deluxe" type rooms). When I asked the staff about the difference in bathroom types, they explained that "there are two types." For hotels like this one where room designs vary, it would be helpful if such details (e.g., no windows) were mentioned or if reservations could be made by specific room type. At the lounge, I enjoyed relaxing amidst greenery with few people around. While there was a wide variety of alcoholic beverages available, snacks were fewer compared to other hotel lounges and felt somewhat lacking. The late-night dish of Okkirikomi was delicious. The hotel tour at 5 PM on my arrival day was excellent and highly recommended. There is art throughout both inside and outside of the hotel that can be appreciated in detail. Behind the hotel are some interesting shops that I’d love to visit again!

The building and meals are artistic, creating a comfortable space both inside and outside the accommodation. However, the smell from the kitchen lingers outside the guest rooms, which might make it difficult to stay if you're not feeling well. When taking a photo of the white pipes in the hotel's atrium from a lounge seat looking upward, I noticed black dust on the pipes swaying in the air conditioning breeze, suggesting that cleaning may not be thorough. During breakfast service, while I was told it matched the menu description, I overheard staff explaining to another table that broccoli was served instead of rapeseed greens. This inconsistency was slightly disappointing. If you can appreciate paying for art as part of your experience, this is a wonderful accommodation.

The meals and service were excellent, and I am very satisfied.
Before moving to Maebashi, I decided to stay at a nice Hotel and made a Reservation here amidst packing. The exterior and interior had different vibes, creating a very stylish atmosphere. The restaurant's dinner featured plenty of local ingredients, and the creative arrangements were surprising—making me wonder, "Is this really that ingredient?" Everything was delicious, with each dish offering exciting surprises while also evoking a sense of nostalgia. I would love to return just for the dinner experience. The alcohol pairing complemented the dishes perfectly, leaving me fully satisfied. Breakfast was also carefully prepared with extra effort and tasted amazing. The Room was decorated with art pieces and provided a comfortable stay. Although I skipped the art tour due to exhaustion, I hope to join it if I have another chance to visit. Above all else, the service at every part—from the front desk to the restaurant—was incredibly pleasant and made my stay truly enjoyable.
