    Hmm...

    The accommodation requires walking up a slope, but it is conveniently located near the Dogo Onsen Main Building. The room was clean, and the onsen bath was relaxing with free-flowing hot spring water. The meals were well-prepared and delicious, though nothing particularly stood out. Considering the price, it left little impression, so I don't think I would return.

    The bathroom is designed with universal accessibility.

    The room had a simple design and was pleasant. The meals were decent as well. However, the bath in the room, which I heard was a highlight, lacked handrails. My elderly mother felt unsafe and couldn't use it despite looking forward to it. The solution is very simple—just install handrails. I hope this highlights the importance of universal design. It's truly disappointing for such a good accommodation.

    The best accommodation in every aspect: service, rooms, and meals.

    When confirming the reservation by phone, I was a bit confused as they introduced themselves as "Hotel Katsuragi," but upon arrival, I noticed the neighboring building with an observation large bath and understood. With the Diamond privilege, we checked in an hour early. The warm and attentive service upon arrival immediately put us at ease. The room was clean, and we enjoyed multiple forest baths in the garden open-air bath with natural hot spring water. The large TV in the bedroom was perfectly positioned for viewing from the bed. The private dining room added a special touch to our meals, which were not only beautifully presented but also delicious. The staff's detailed and courteous service left a great impression. We were so charmed by the chopsticks used during meals that we purchased some at the lobby shop. Even during checkout, their thoughtful care stood out. It was our first stay here, but everything exceeded expectations—we fully enjoyed our 21-hour stay without leaving once during that time! This is an accommodation we would love to revisit again soon!

    Relaxing Accommodation

    We visited as a couple (in our 50s). The room was clean, and the private bath in the room had the same spring quality as Dogo Onsen, leaving our skin smooth. Fresh flowers were arranged at the entrance, showcasing thoughtful hospitality. The staff's service was polite and excellent. We would love to stay at this accommodation again when we visit Dogo Onsen.

    Experience Genuine "Omotenashi" at Koto no Niwa Ryokan "Omotenashi" represents heartfelt hospitality extended equally to all guests, whether they are international tourists, Japanese travelers, or business professionals. At Koto no Niwa Ryokan, this spirit is truly evident. The staff warmly attends to each guest with genuine care. The cuisine is not only delicious but also visually stunning and creatively crafted, making every meal an enjoyable experience. Most notably, the staff's deep love for the Dogo Onsen area and their dedication to preserving its traditions left a lasting impression. With an increasing number of international guests, the ryokan provides attentive support to ensure a comfortable stay even for those unfamiliar with Japanese language or customs. While the exterior of the building boasts modern elegance, its essence reflects Japan's rich traditional culture. Staying at Koto no Niwa Ryokan was truly a memorable and fulfilling experience!

    It was hot, so we didn't use the bath much, but I think it's great for two people. It's a bit far from Osaka, but considering it as part of a Seto Inland Sea tour, I would like to visit again.

    Enjoy Dogo Onsen

    Located right next to the Dogo Onsen Main Building, the location is excellent. The open-air bath attached to the room is spacious and enjoyable. It's great to be able to bathe anytime you like. Guests can also use the large public bath at a partner Hotel, which has a nostalgic "Showa-era Onsen Hotel" atmosphere that I personally love. I enjoyed both the modern-style open-air bath in Koto no Niwa and the traditional large public bath. As for meals, I wished they used more ingredients from Ehime Prefecture. Since you're staying near Dogo Onsen, it would be even better if they showcased more of Ehime's wonderful local ingredients for guests to enjoy and appreciate fully!

    Quiet and clean Room. The ingredients and creativity in the cuisine were excellent.

    Villa Type "KOHAKU" (Twin) for one person, one night stay. Includes an open-air bath. A tablet is provided, allowing you to enjoy watching TV while soaking in the bath. The room is very clean and quiet. The staff's hospitality was extremely polite and excellent. The cuisine featured a combination of fish from the Seto Inland Sea and high-quality local meat, with great taste. Not only were the ingredients impressive, but also the sauces and presentation showed thoughtful creativity, making it an enjoyable experience. Please note that the toilet, washbasin, and open-air bath (changing area) are all in one space without separation. While this was not an issue during my solo stay, it might be slightly inconvenient for two people as only one can use these facilities at a time. It was very helpful to find accommodation that allows solo stays when many do not. Highly recommended for a little splurge on a solo trip! I would love to visit again!

    Room & Amenities: The room is slightly unique, offering a sense of escape from the ordinary, which was very satisfying. There were no shortcomings in the amenities provided. Service: Excellent service. The staff who assisted with meals even changed the placement of chopsticks between dinner and breakfast. It's a small detail, but it left me deeply impressed in the morning. An accommodation that can quietly provide such thoughtful gestures is truly trustworthy. Onsen & Bath: The quality of the onsen water is outstanding and well-maintained. I could feel everyone's efforts behind it. Facility: You can sense care and thoughtfulness throughout various areas of the facility, which is kept impeccably clean. Meals: Absolutely delicious! The explanations about each dish were clear and concise, leaving a positive impression. This is an accommodation I would love to visit again. Thank you so much for your hospitality!

    The room is spacious and clean, seemingly newly built. We stayed in a maisonette-style room, but amenities and towels were provided only once. The bedroom is on the second floor, and while there are sinks and toilets on the second floor as well, it was slightly inconvenient. The food was average; considering the price, it felt a bit underwhelming. The tableware used was reminiscent of older budget Onsen accommodations, which was disappointing. It uses the same natural hot spring source as Dogo Onsen with flowing Onsen water. There is an open-air bath that felt very pleasant to use. However, there is no washing area; instead, there’s a shower room near where you return to your room where you wash while standing up. Its proximity to Dogo Onsen makes its location very convenient.

    Wonderful Accommodation

    My first visit to Dogo Onsen. I chose this modern accommodation instead of a traditional ryokan because of its excellent reviews. Having stayed at various accommodations, I found the location, amenities, facilities, and service here to be top-notch and highly satisfying. The highlight was definitely the onsen. The luxury of enjoying a spacious indoor bath with 24-hour flowing hot spring water at the perfect temperature is unparalleled. It made me want to stay in my room all day. The Imabari towels were soft and delightful. The meals were not overly elaborate but showed thoughtful care in their preparation. The sashimi served on the second night of my multiple-night stay left a particularly strong impression. The only downside was the atmosphere of the dining area. My seat had a clear view of the counter where staff worked (including rice cookers) and refrigerators holding drinks, which gave it more of an ordinary cafeteria feel. Since guests dine in yukata after bathing, dimmer lighting or arrangements that provide more privacy for other guests would enhance the experience—perhaps even offering a different table for multiple-night stays could add a special touch. Despite this minor issue, the warm hospitality made up for it entirely, resulting in an overall satisfying stay.

    It was an accommodation where you could relax very comfortably.

    We stayed as a family and found it to be an accommodation where we could relax as if we were at home. The detached building was a spacious two-story structure with an open ceiling, and we would love to stay again if given the opportunity. Since my parents are elderly, the meal portions felt a bit large. While the ingredients and flavors were excellent, it would be nice to have an option for smaller portions. It would also be more comfortable if the facility guide was more detailed (there was no detailed guide in the room, and the internal phone number wasn't listed on the phone). Additionally, since I don't drink coffee, it would be great if tea could be included in the free drink options for people like me.

    Room with Design Flaws

    When you open the door to the room, a bathtub suddenly appears, surprising you. Above it, there is a square opening in the ceiling revealing the sky—an open-air bath. On either side are separate living and bedroom areas, and by closing the sliding doors, each space can be air-conditioned. However, the open-air bath area is completely exposed to outside air. If it rains, a canopy can be extended, but it's an unusual design. The day of our stay was warm so there were no issues; however, during winter or rainy days, staying in this garden suite "Akane" might be challenging. The sink is made of stainless steel with water splashing everywhere and unable to retain water—a design flaw.

    My husband and I stayed for two nights from March 12th to 14th in the Villa Type Kohaku Twin Room. The Ryokan has a modern exterior and is in an excellent location. The Onsen in the room was very spacious, and the water quality was excellent. Since we stayed for two nights, the chef prepared a completely different menu for our second dinner, which we truly appreciated. Overall, it was a comfortable stay. One comment I have is about the heavy ceramic chair placed in front of the sink in the bathroom, which made it unusable. I moved it under the counter to use the sink, but after cleaning on the next day, I noticed that it had been placed back in front of the sink again, so I had to move it once more. I'm not sure why such a heavy chair was placed there as it seemed to obstruct access to the sink.

    Everything was of high quality. The luxury of having a bathroom occupying 20 square meters out of the nearly 60-square-meter guest room was impressive, allowing for elegant Onsen bathing whether sleeping or awake. The attention to detail in amenities and bedding was remarkable, and I was particularly impressed by the softness of the slippers. The location is also away from the hustle and bustle of central Dogo, providing a calm atmosphere, and the clientele was excellent. It reaffirmed my belief that it's worth paying for top-notch experiences even if they are expensive.

    The Facility and the Room with a private open-air bath were very clean. The yukata was cute and lifted my spirits. I was also pleased with the mandarin juice. We received souvenirs on our way back. The food was very delicious, and the portions were just right. The meat, in particular, was excellent. I would love to visit again.

    Thank you for the other day. The memories at Koto no Niwa include the quality of the ingredients and the excellence of the cuisine. The slightly salty, smooth onsen water. The transformation of my skin into that of a freshly boiled egg with the provided cosmetics. The abundance and deliciousness of the complimentary snacks and drinks in the room. The thrilling embarrassment of having my birthday celebrated. The quality of the birthday cake. The genuine relaxation on the second floor. The thoughtful layout and amenities on the first floor that allowed us to fully enjoy the garden bath. The yukata, haori, tabi, and zori provided by the property. Wearing a coat and carrying a bamboo basket, we took a 5-minute walk to the Dogo Onsen Honkan for a bath and sightseeing. From there, we strolled through the shopping street, feeling as if we had been transported into a fairy tale, and enjoyed a leisurely 20-30 minute walk to Dogo Onsen Station, browsing the shops along the way. Perhaps it was a one-night, two-day stay that was so relaxing that I can't remember or hold all the memories. And from each of those memories, the voice from the property was, "Is there anything you need?" "Can you relax?" "Please be happy during your stay." It was a gentle, caring heart that enveloped us, like compassion. Even now, when I recall the few hours spent at Koto no Niwa, I am filled with a warm sense of gratitude and my heart swells. Thank you for a stay that was not just business-like. I express my deepest gratitude.

    The cleaning is not thorough.

    Is it a renovation? The property seems to have been newly refurbished. At first glance, it looks clean, but the cleaning is not thorough, and dust is noticeable in places like the toilets and washbasins. As a result, it was not very comfortable to stay. I also visited the large public bath in the facility, but it felt old, perhaps due to the outdated equipment. It also seemed that the cleaning was not very thorough here. The breakfast venue was filled with staff who seemed like part-time workers without smiles, giving off a vibe that they wanted to finish quickly, making it hard to relax. From check-in to check-out, it felt like a property where you were constantly being rushed.

    We had a wonderful time.

    I had a wonderful and relaxing two-day trip with my girlfriend. The Room was, of course, lovely, and the bath in the Room was spacious enough for two people, which was very satisfying. The meals, both dinner and breakfast, were visually delightful and delicious, leaving us impressed. There was a sake tasting set available, and we ordered all six varieties, enjoying the differences in taste as we discussed them. There is also a free drink corner on the lobby floor. The Room's tableware and amenities showed attention to detail, and the service of snacks and drinks was excellent. I would definitely like to use this service again.

    Satisfaction and enjoyment

    The location is very convenient in the central area, the arrival by car and guidance were perfect, the Room was lovely, and I enjoyed the semi-open-air bath many times. The mandarin oranges in the Room were very sweet and perfect after a bath. The food was visually stunning and very delicious, and I enjoyed everything up to the dessert. Breakfast was also delicious. On departure, the young landlady saw us off, and I thoroughly enjoyed the Ryokan after a long time. It was a Ryokan I strongly wish to stay at again. Thank you for the souvenirs as well. The highest score is 5 points, but for me, it exceeds 5 points.

    We stayed for our wedding anniversary. The room was clean, the bath was pleasant, and the meals were very delicious, making it a property with 100% satisfaction. Usually, when staying for two nights, meals often do not meet expectations and can be disappointing, but this property had excellent hot springs and meals that made us want to stay for two nights again. The staff were also kind, making it one of the properties we want to return to for our anniversary. Thank you very much.
