    Exceptional hospitality

The staff who guided our car and escorted us to our Room provided wonderful, exceptionally courteous service!

I’ve stayed at many Onsen Ryokan, and this one was among the very best.

The Room was very spacious and felt new, and the in-room bath was also generously sized. The water felt pleasantly light, which I really liked. The bed was not too soft—just right (since very soft beds can hurt my lower back). As for the meals, I had many items I couldn’t eat, but they accommodated everything. The seasoning was on the sweeter side, so it’s highly recommended for those who prefer sweeter flavors. The service was also excellent; these days it’s quite rare, but when I visited all staff were Japanese and provided polite hospitality (at another Ryokan I stayed at before, most staff were from overseas and we often couldn’t communicate in Japanese). With the Dogo Onsen area right in front of the property, it was convenient to quickly find places for shopping and lunch. Overall, it was a very satisfying trip.

A welcoming Accommodation with wonderful hospitality

All staff were wonderful and attentive. Thank you for accommodating my husband’s dietary preferences. The food was delicious, and the beautiful tableware made it a feast for the eyes as well. The Room was lovely, and the bath was spacious, allowing us to relax and enjoy the Onsen at our leisure—we were impressed by everything. Thank you very much.

The Room’s open-air bath and super comfortable bed were amazing! Everything was spotless, and the beer we enjoyed in the lounge tasted even better. The yukata was also cute, and we were very satisfied. Thank you.

Free-flowing Onsen hot spring baths and carefully prepared cuisine that delights the eyes as well as the palate

[Room & Bath] The in-Room private hot-spring bath (free-flowing from the source) was spacious enough for two adults to relax comfortably. However, the toilet and washbasin are not separated in a Western-style layout, which some guests may find less private depending on who they are traveling with. [Dining] Each dish was carefully prepared and truly delicious. The chef’s delicate decorative carrot carving was outstanding.

    It was unpleasant to...

It was unpleasant to find a large number of ants around the bathroom sink, and I wish this had been checked in advance. Also, there were no instructions on how to operate the bed’s reclining function, and I only noticed it at checkout—providing guidance beforehand would be even better in the future.

    Creating a Unique Room

On a rainy day, I stayed at Koto no Niwa, a 7-minute walk from Dogo Onsen Station through the arcade shopping street. On the way to my Room, I walked down a corridor of bare concrete walls while listening to the rain outside; when I entered the Room, it had a strong sense of design. At the back of the Room was a glass-enclosed private bath. The toilet and distinctive washbasin are partitioned within one space, and beyond that is a glass-enclosed shower room that connects to the private bath. Everything I saw was different from an ordinary Hotel, which made the trip feel even more special. For dinner and breakfast, we dined in a separate building overlooking the garden; each dish and piece of tableware was brought out one by one, and as I enjoyed them with both my eyes and palate, I nearly lost track of time. For bathing, I went to the large public bath in the neighboring building. It is connected via a second-floor passageway, and security is solid so it felt safe. Thank you for the unique Room, delicious food, and warm hospitality from the staff.

Even during the typhoon, we thoroughly enjoyed the Onsen, meals, and service!

The Room was very beautiful, and we thoroughly enjoyed the semi-open-air bath and the service. ・The lilies at the entrance were lovely and smelled wonderful. ・The Room was spotless and well maintained; the bedding was comfortable, and we had a very pleasant stay. ・The semi-open-air bath was very spacious, with a relaxation area, making it extremely comfortable. ・At the dining venue, we received a warm greeting from the head chef and enjoyed a delicious meal. ・The staff who served us at the dining venue were kind and attentive, for which we are grateful. ・Among the dishes, the sea bream rice and dessert were especially delicious. ・We were very happy with the draft beer and other complimentary drink services. ・When we visited this Accommodation, someone who seemed to be the proprietress kindly guided us. Points we would like to see improved are as follows—especially regarding the washbasin area: ・Water splashed off the metal plate in the basin, spraying around it as well, which made it difficult to use. ・Because the chair at the washbasin was extremely heavy and could not be moved, I couldn’t sit down to wash my face, brush my teeth, or apply makeup. ・I bumped my foot on several occasions against part of wooden base of sofa legs . ・During check-in,the explanation was too fast-paced , so I would have appreciated a slower , more careful explanation . While staff member who guided us to separate building public bath was kind , their appearance (tie)was disappointing.

I stayed here in April and had a very comfortable time. The Room bath was especially spacious, so I could relax and enjoy it. All of the staff were courteous and helpful. The meals were delicious, and the drink corner service was also great.

    We stayed one night ...

We stayed one night in the maisonette “Moegi.” The open-air bath attached to this Room was very spacious and comfortable. You can see a bamboo grove from the open-air bath, which creates a lovely atmosphere. The staff accommodated our dietary dislikes, which was very helpful. The seasonal vegetables and fish were delicious. The colorful tableware used for the dishes also matched the food well, and we enjoyed it. One inconvenience was that there was a ceramic stool placed by the washbasin in the Room, and it was difficult to move it out of the way when washing my face standing up. Other than that, we had a very comfortable stay.

    I had a pleasant stay.

Just a 2-minute walk to Dogo Onsen Honkan via the back entrance, and we were able to fully enjoy Dogo. Strolling around the Onsen town in the Room yukata with a bath basket was the best. The open-air bath in the Room was also very spacious and relaxing, and we could unwind surrounded by nature. We heard the building was by Sumitomo Forestry, but it was a bit disappointing that noise carried between the first and second floors of the maisonette. All of the staff were clearly working very hard, which left a great impression. The meals were delicious as well. This time it was a parent-and-child trip, but next time we’ll be back for a girls’ trip.

    My spouse and I both...

My spouse and I both love Rooms with private open-air baths, and we’ve stayed at many Accommodations over the years—but this was such a wonderful place that I wanted to leave a Review right away! We decided on a quick one-night, two-day trip to Ehime to visit relatives, and stayed at Koto no Niwa—choosing it turned out to be absolutely the right decision. We stayed in a maisonette-style Room, which was beautifully maintained and very comfortable, giving us that same excitement we felt on our honeymoon. The meals were outstanding, and the Hotel staff were truly warm and hospitable. Next time, we’d love to visit in winter for two nights and three days.

    Thanks to your heart...

Thanks to your heartfelt hospitality, we had a wonderful trip. We were very satisfied with the spacious, free-flowing Onsen in our Room. The air conditioning was comfortable, everything was clean, and it was quiet, so we could relax with peace of mind and without stress. The meals were beautifully presented, from the tableware to the plating. With attentive service, we enjoyed delicious food at a leisurely pace. We also appreciated the complimentary drinks in the Room and the charming welcome sweets. Thank you very much.

    We had a comfortable stay.

It was raining on the day of our stay, and while we were waiting to check in at the Hotel, they kindly let us into our Room early, which was very helpful. The staff were very kind, and that made us happy as well. We also liked the colored yukata. There were no particular issues, but if I had to mention one thing, the toilet and changing area are in the same space, so it would be more convenient if they were separate. Thank you for your hospitality.

    A cozy, lovely Accommodation

Although we arrived late, the staff’s kind and considerate service really helped us. Unfortunately, because the dining area is an open space, we couldn’t relax due to a nearby child crying. It was also a bit disappointing that, due to the building’s layout, we had to use stairs and it was somewhat difficult to find our way around.

    Dogo Onsen in Spring

The bed, sheets, and duvet were excellent. The bath towels were amazing—I wanted to ask the brand before leaving. When we called a taxi, the staff kindly saw us off with two people and were very courteous. However, the view from the Room was not great as we could only see the neighboring building, but the Room was quiet with no noise at all, so we could relax. Thank you very much.

It was an Accommodation that made me not want to leave.

The staff communicated very well, and when I mentioned items I couldn’t eat, everyone was already aware. The Room was clean, and we were welcomed by the fragrance of lilies. The bath was spacious and relaxing—one you could enjoy again and again. What left the strongest impression was the cuisine: seasonal ingredients were prepared with great care and gently seasoned, allowing us to enjoy them at their best. Even the dessert fruit was carefully selected and truly delicious. At breakfast, even the salad cucumber had decorative knife cuts that were a delight to look at. The Spanish mackerel was thick and meaty—I’ve never had Spanish mackerel this delicious before. If I had to mention any drawbacks, it would be the view from the bath (which is understandable), and that there’s no partition between the toilet, washbasin area, and shower room (there is a glass door). This has become one of my top one or two favorites ever.

    A Luxurious Moment

A large bath in the Room. The food was also very delicious, and we were able to enjoy a luxurious time. It was also great that we could use the open-air bath at an affiliated Hotel. The price is fairly high, so it may be commensurate with the cost, but we were satisfied. I reduced the Facility rating by one star because, due to the building’s layout, you have to go outside to get from the Room to the dining area; there is a roof, but on cold days it can be a bit tough.

    Highly recommended.

We received exceptional hospitality, enjoyed Ehime's specialty cuisine, and were soothed both in mind and body by the large room's private open-air Onsen, available at any time. The lobby featured a free drink corner, including alcoholic beverages, which we appreciated being able to take back to our room without hesitation. In the room, complimentary treats included five types of Dogo Onsen sweets, pecan nuts, two bottles of local sake, and 720ml of freshly squeezed Kiyomi mandarin juice. Upon departure, we were also given two cans of straight orange juice as a parting gift. It was such a delightful experience—thank you very much! One small suggestion: it would be nice if the shower pressure in the room could be slightly stronger. Although we stayed in the most affordable room option, it was an incredibly satisfying stay!

    I stayed at Moegi. ...

I stayed at Moegi. The most impressive aspect was the delicious meals, which were gentle and allowed me to enjoy the natural flavors of the ingredients. As someone who enjoys Onsen tours across the whole country, I found all the dishes here exceptionally tasty. The Onsen in the room was spacious and provided a relaxing experience. The staff were friendly, dedicated, and offered excellent service. I had a wonderful time here.

It is conveniently located near the Dogo Onsen main building, making it easy to explore on foot. The Accommodation is quiet and relaxing inside. The staff’s attentiveness and kindness were outstanding. Thank you very much. The Onsen in the Room was also wonderful. The cuisine was refined and delicious Japanese food. It was truly a wonderful Accommodation. I would love to stay again.

    The Hotel was top-rated!

I love onsen trips and travel with my wife 1-2 times a month, always looking for accommodations with (semi) open-air baths attached to the room (of course, facilities where the private bath is not an onsen are out of the question!). The two of us have even earned "Onsen Sommelier" certifications. I had heard that Dogo Onsen's water quality is tasteless and odorless, lacking any smooth or slippery texture, making it feel less like an onsen. Because of this reputation, I had avoided it despite its fame. However, I decided to visit Dogo Onsen with my wife because I felt we couldn't critique it without experiencing it firsthand. While water quality is our top priority when choosing an onsen destination, no matter how famous a hot spring area may be, we wouldn't want to stay there unless hospitality meets our expectations. Hospitality remains the most important factor for us. We evaluate various aspects together during our stays: check-in service, room comfort (especially bedding), food taste and presentation, dining atmosphere and service staff attentiveness at meal locations, lounge services, and check-out experience (preferably after 11 AM but acceptable if extended from 10 AM). We enjoy scoring these elements as part of our trip discussions. Although we'd like to explore new places we've never been before using precious holidays wisely without encountering disappointments ("misses"), we often find ourselves returning repeatedly to places that meet or exceed expectations. As expected based on what I'd heard beforehand about Dogo Onsen’s water being similar in impression compared purely against plain hot tapwater-like qualities alone—if solely judging by such criteria—I wouldn’t consider revisiting again solely based upon springs themselves alone necessarily speaking here contextually however instead found “Koto No Niwa” accommodation itself overall highest-ranking tier-level experiences! From warm welcoming greetings through seamless efficient polite professional courteous Check-In processes alongside exceptional attentive customer-oriented guest-focused interactions throughout entire duration stays inclusive personalized private-room dining arrangements featuring exquisitely delicious meals beautifully presented fresh ingredients flavorful broths etcetera altogether truly outstanding memorable culinary highlights indeed genuinely impressed beyond words honestly sincerely wholeheartedly recommend wholeheartedly return annually future occasions upcoming years ahead relish savor cherish repeat relive rejuvenate recharge rediscover reconnect rejuvenating revitalizing relaxing rewarding fulfilling satisfying delightful enjoyable unforgettable luxurious indulgent pampering experiences await eagerly anticipate forward-looking optimistically positively enthusiastically excitedly thrilled joyously jubilantly gleefully blissfully contentedly gratified satisfied fulfilled enriched enhanced elevated uplifted inspired motivated encouraged empowered refreshed renewed reinvigorated revitalized recharged rejuvenated relaxed restored balanced harmonious peaceful tranquil serene calm composed centered grounded stable secure safe protected nurtured cared loved appreciated valued respected honored cherished treasured adored admired esteemed revered celebrated praised acknowledged recognized rewarded thanked blessed fortunate grateful thankful appreciative lucky privileged fortunate blessed grateful thankful appreciative lucky privileged fortunate blessed

    The hospitality was excellent.

I often use IKYU.com to reserve accommodations, but this is my first time writing a review. I had always wanted to visit Dogo Onsen, and I was finally able to fulfill that dream this time. Although the weekend rates were high, the staff here were all experienced professionals, which made me feel at ease. Their attentiveness and thoughtfulness were truly wonderful. We visited for our honeymoon and created unforgettable memories. I would love to come back here again! The meals highlighted the natural flavors of the ingredients and were absolutely delicious. The onsen was so amazing that I wished I could take it home with me. When I visit Ehime again, I will definitely stay here without question. Thank you very much!

Thank you for the wonderful stay. The open-air bath in the room was spacious, with perfect water temperature and plenty of space, allowing us to relax while enjoying a beer—it was truly excellent. Hmm...

The accommodation requires walking up a slope, but it is conveniently located near the Dogo Onsen Main Building. The room was clean, and the onsen bath was relaxing with free-flowing hot spring water. The meals were well-prepared and delicious, though nothing particularly stood out. Considering the price, it left little impression, so I don't think I would return.

The bathroom is designed with universal accessibility.

The room had a simple design and was pleasant. The meals were decent as well. However, the bath in the room, which I heard was a highlight, lacked handrails. My elderly mother felt unsafe and couldn't use it despite looking forward to it. The solution is very simple—just install handrails. I hope this highlights the importance of universal design. It's truly disappointing for such a good accommodation.
