    A Second Journey to Enjoy Iyo-Ozu

    In 2023, I stayed at NIPPONIA in Iyo-Ozu, which inspired me to visit various NIPPONIA accommodations and enjoy traditional houses and locally sourced meals. This was my second stay at NIPPONIA in Ozu. This time, I wanted to take my time exploring Ozu and the southern Ehime area, so I stayed for two nights. Following the concierge's suggestion, I stayed in a different room each night. Including my previous visit, I've now experienced three rooms in total. Each building's location, room layout, and views from the windows are unique, offering new discoveries even when visiting the same place. Some rooms have tatami flooring while others do not; some feature cypress bathtubs while others do not. As you walk through Ozu town, you'll notice several houses with NIPPONIA curtains hanging at their entrances—it’s fun to imagine what kind of room might be inside as you stroll around!

    Relaxing Solo Trip

    First-time Solo Trip to Ozu The staff were incredibly kind, and I thoroughly enjoyed the delicious local cuisine. The room was completely private, allowing me to relax and enjoy a peaceful time. What surprised me was that all the drinks in the fridge, including alcohol, as well as those in the lounge, were free of charge. It might be a good idea to check in early and make the most of it. This has become one of my favorite accommodations. I’d love to visit again during a different season.

    A new experience of a decentralized Hotel

    I thought a decentralized hotel might be inconvenient during the coldest season, but my mother, who was traveling with me, insisted on staying there, so I made a reservation. As a result, I experienced a new form of accommodation like never before. By utilizing multiple properties scattered throughout the castle town of Ozu, along with the front desk and club floor, there was more than just staying in a room; it offered an expansive experience where you could feel the atmosphere of the castle town. Each renovated building of old wealthy merchants had its own character. The streets were also charming, allowing us to enjoy shopping for local specialties and Japanese sweets at stores other than hotels. Due to renovations, I was concerned about air conditioning and steps, so I used concierge services in advance to find a room with flat beds and water facilities. Even in old buildings, thanks to renovations, both air conditioning and water facilities were equipped with modern amenities without any inconvenience. Since we had chosen a plan that included dinner and breakfast, we fully enjoyed our meals for an excellent stay. The shuttle service to the dinner venue and umbrella rentals were quietly yet kindly provided by attentive staff offering smart service. Which room should we stay in next? It's such an amazing hotel that makes you want to think about it even before leaving.

    A Quiet Place and Time

    In a renovated Property, you can relax in the bath and fully enjoy French cuisine while gazing at Ozu Castle.

    Regional Revitalization

    I wouldn't have considered staying in Ozu if it weren't for this Hotel. I stayed in SODA Room 101, so dinner was in the adjacent building, but it took just under 10 minutes to walk to breakfast, the front desk, and the lounge. I enjoyed strolling through the townscape along the way. Since I stayed in January, the second floor was well-heated, but on the first floor, there was only a small electric heater in the dressing room, and the toilet was quite cold. Dinner was very filling and left me quite full, but breakfast was a lighter menu. This Hotel, where young staff members are working hard, could become even more wonderful by collaborating on events like town walks to better showcase the charm of Ozu.

    To make it even better

    The response at the front desk upon arrival was a bit hectic and slow. The voice of the female staff during the explanation was hard to hear. However, I was pleased to be guided to the lounge while waiting. The breakfast, especially the rice with raw egg, was particularly delicious. Personally, I was very soothed by the garden view when sitting on the bench in front of the lounge. The Room was also kept very clean and felt pleasant. The quaint town surrounded by nature was ingeniously arranged, and overall, it was wonderful. Thank you very much.

    Very satisfied!

    The meals, room, and service are all top-notch. Although it's not an onsen, the cypress bath was also wonderful. We stayed because it is a property where dogs can stay, but it's not just good for having a dog; you'd want to stay even without one! I think even adults with discerning tastes will be very satisfied. I want to visit NIPPONIA Hotel!

    A unique Hotel

    I was prepared for the oldness since it was a hotel renovated from a traditional Japanese house, but the building was stylishly renovated and comfortable. The staff were pleasant, and the breakfast was very delicious. What makes this hotel unique is that it revitalizes disappearing traditional houses and aims to revitalize the entire town with the traditional house hotel at its center. Through staying at this hotel, you can spend time reflecting on your daily lifestyle, values, the city you live in, and even the era of today. Perhaps because I have lived in the heart of Tokyo for many years, I felt this way particularly strongly. Spending such time is unique to this hotel, and in that sense, I believe it is one of a kind. Experiencing the river flowing through the town, the mountains surrounding the town, historical buildings, feeling the culture, and tasting the cuisine and drinks is an irreplaceable experience, especially for those living in the city. I pay respect to the thoughts of those involved in the town's revitalization, including this hotel and Ozu City, and look forward to the future town development.

    The guest rooms, renovated from an old folk house, had a nice atmosphere and were highly satisfying. The meals were just the right amount and delicious. On the other hand, perhaps due to the building's structure, it was unfortunate that the work sounds from the kitchen and reception on the first floor could be heard well in the guest rooms on the second floor. It left a bit of an impression that the staff's chatter after finishing work on the first floor could be heard all the way to the second floor, especially close to bedtime.

    The Best Moments

    As a hotel where you can stay with your dog, it was the best room ever. The garden attached to the room was spacious, creating good memories for our family of three. They promptly responded to our request to serve meals earlier for our dog. We were taught the hotel concept passionately and politely. The food was overwhelmingly delicious. The amenities were well-equipped. The hospitality of the staff was wonderful. It was the best among all the properties we have stayed at so far. Therefore, I strongly request two points. The toilet paper was out. There was a mysterious mechanical noise audible in the bedroom. Because it was perfect, I strongly raise these points. We will definitely stay again. We were moved by the hospitality of the staff. We were healed. Thank you very much.
