It was a wonderful stay.
The Room is spacious, with the living area and bedroom separated by a glass door, allowing you to work in the living room while your child sleeps at night—very convenient. The meals at the Japanese restaurant were delicious, and we enjoyed dining there during our stay. They were considerate of children, and we also visited the Lake House. Both places were very child (infant)-friendly. There were activities like fireworks and stamp rallies for children to enjoy, making it a delightful experience for the whole family.

The environment and facilities are excellent.
I stayed at the accommodation for the first time around its 5th anniversary. The modern design with a touch of Japanese style, along with the comfort of the room and the onsen large bath (including water quality), was as excellent as reputed. For dinner, I enjoyed a kaiseki course at the Japanese restaurant. The presentation and portion were satisfying, but perhaps due to a lack of flavor variation, I found myself slowing down towards the end. For breakfast, I opted for a Western-style meal (requested in advance). However, both Japanese and Western breakfasts were served in the same Japanese restaurant (personal preference: Western meals should be served in a Western setting). The meal consisted of parts of their signature Japanese bento box replaced with Western items. While I understand this might be due to staff arrangements, considering its price point, it felt underwhelming (suggestions: salad options, freshly prepared egg dishes in front of guests, or an enhanced bakery selection would improve it). The room and onsen were outstanding.

Highly satisfied.
It was a wonderful stay. Our child loved it so much that they cried when we checked out because they didn’t want to leave. We hope to visit again soon and enjoy a Multiple Night Stay next time!

Accommodation use is perfect, but what about the users?
I stayed at the accommodation, had dinner at the Lake House, and enjoyed a Japanese-style breakfast served in the room. The hospitality and service were outstanding, making it an incredibly satisfying stay. Thank you very much. However, at the Lake House for dinner, most guests were Japanese but many did not follow the dress code—wearing shorts, sandals, and T-shirts. There were also many who seemed unaware of proper dining etiquette. Frankly speaking, I wondered if this was truly The Ritz-Carlton. A lax dress code diminishes the establishment's dignity. It is necessary to ensure guests adhere to the dress code upon arrival; otherwise, please refrain from listing a dress code altogether. Other than that issue, it was truly an exceptional stay at a first-class hotel that I would love to visit again.

A different world awaits.
It was the best stay. The only downside was that one side of the Room's sink had an odor. Other than that, it was the best experience so far.

This year was great as well.
I have been staying here for three consecutive years. Having a luxury Hotel in a tourist area is very convenient. Everything is great, but just one point... In recent years, perhaps due to the increase in inbound tourists, some people enter the spa's changing room wearing sandals or shoes. Japanese people might instinctively know to take off their shoes here, but I think foreign guests may not realize this. It would be helpful if there were clear signs at the entrance of the spa's changing room indicating that shoes are not allowed. I noticed this last year as well, and it caught my attention again this year, so I decided to post about it. Overall, everything was clean and the Onsen was excellent. I look forward to visiting again next year!

The facility is excellent. Foreign staff should improve their Japanese a bit more.

The finest hospitality awaits you.
The best Hotel experience ever! Despite arriving early, we were allowed to check in. The reception, the warm welcome upon entering the room, the attentiveness towards children, consideration for food allergies, the stunning views both inside and outside the Hotel, and the meals—both dinner and breakfast—were absolutely delicious and satisfying! Even without exploring the surrounding area, this Hotel alone provided a fulfilling travel experience! I will definitely stay here again if I have another opportunity!

The view of Lake Chuzenji is breathtaking!
We have a hobby of staying at a hotel or ryokan with our family every month. This time, we stayed in a suite with a view of Lake Chuzenji, and we were truly impressed by the amazing scenery. The large public bath also offers picturesque mountain views. Additionally, the hotel staff discreetly pressed the elevator for us, opened the door to the onsen, and tidied up cables during evening cleaning. We were also very pleased with my husband's birthday celebration. What concerned me was that check-in felt lengthy. Although it was an accommodation plan with breakfast included, it seemed like this wasn't noted from check-in. It would have been better if we had been informed in advance that there would be an additional charge for children's breakfast. Regarding morning service, I wanted to enjoy the buffet but was told it wouldn't be possible until 10 AM, which was disappointing. Despite being eligible for early check-in as a Diamond member benefit, I didn't understand why it became full so quickly. However, you can enjoy the same buffet items in your room as well; there's a menu by your bedside that you can order from if desired. I assume that the dim lighting in the onsen is meant to aid sleep; however, it's extremely difficult to see labels on shampoo bottles and such. w I thought Ritz prides itself on offering services that value autonomy; hence I felt there is room for growth in hospitality. Despite some concerns, it was an extremely satisfying hotel stay.

Maybe I expected too much.
I stayed for 2 nights and 3 days for a birthday trip. Honestly, there were many disappointing aspects compared to what I expected. As others have reviewed, the time it took to check in was unpleasant even though it wasn't crowded, and the room view was a bit disappointing. Most notably, during breakfast on both days, we were guided to the same corner seat, and both days we were next to families with small children who kept moving seats, making it hard for us to relax. Also, hot coffee was served with the meal but was completely cold by the time I drank it. There were good aspects as well; I was very satisfied with the onsen (Onsen), spa treatments, and dinner. However, one day would have been enough rather than a multiple night stay (Multiple Night Stay), and staying at another hotel (Hotel) might have been better. I don't think I'll revisit this property (Property).

To the Management
This is my third time staying at the Chuzenji Lake View Suite. This time, I booked two suite rooms for my family of five. I love the facilities, onsen, and location. However, there were some disappointing points: - As mentioned in other reviews, there is a wait during check-in. It might be better to offer drinks beforehand. - Upon entering the room, I was surprised to find two foot mats rolled up and placed on the two washbasins. - The luggage we handed over from the car was delivered to the other room. Is there no information sharing about whose luggage it is? - There was a phone call regarding breakfast egg dishes and drinks (there are so many options), and it was impossible to choose when all the options were rattled off quickly. It might be more efficient to ask during check-in. - I informed about the breakfast drinks during dinner, but the next morning, the staff said, "We didn't ask about the drinks, so we brought all the options." Is there no information sharing? - Even at the breakfast time, there was no serving, and after the reserved time had passed, I was informed, "There will be a delay." While delays are understandable, informing earlier would leave a better impression. - I think this every time, but without a haori over the yukata, everyone's underwear is visible. I don't wear it, but I feel sorry for overseas guests who might not notice. Do the staff not notice this? Each young staff member is working hard, but there is no coordination, information sharing, or efficient system to make use of their efforts, which is frustrating to watch. I hope the management will improve this.

The quality of the meals seems to have declined.
I visit around this time every year. The overall service quality remained consistently above standard, but I was disappointed that the in-room breakfast had noticeably declined in both quality and quantity compared to before. Even for in-room dining, the egg dishes were cold and the seasoning—marked by a strong taste of artificial flavoring—was not pleasant, leaving it unsatisfying. That said, the ingredients and freshness of the vegetable salad were as delicious as ever. Because everything else is excellent, I hope to see improvement.

Excellent!
Perfect for couples. Everything about the accommodation, dining, and hospitality is exceptional, showcasing beauty and refined taste. At the same time, it offers a relaxed atmosphere where both body and mind can unwind. Some reviews mention issues like heavy doors, dim lighting in the onsen, or oversized yukata; however, these may stem from a lack of understanding of why such choices were made. This is an accommodation suited for those accustomed to staying at luxury hotels and who possess a certain level of appreciation for its offerings. The meals are delicious as well, making this hotel a complete experience when dining is included. Surrounded by nature with no nearby restaurants and being an onsen accommodation despite being part of an international brand like Ritz-Carlton Nikko, opting for "No Meals Included" would be quite unfortunate—this place should not be chosen under such circumstances. It’s best enjoyed by those who have the means to fully appreciate it without strain or effort—it’s not meant to be a place you push yourself to afford or stay at. I look forward to revisiting with my family next time!

Impressive! I will definitely visit again!
Since it was a luxury Stays, I was hesitant... but I stayed for a solo trip. However, everyone maintained an appropriate distance, spoke to me, and paid attention, allowing me to have a truly comfortable time. The lobby with its distinctive fireplace, the Japanese-modern Room and various Facilities, and the breathtaking view... everything was like a dream! What surprised me was the Onsen. Since it was a foreign Hotel, I didn't expect much from the spring quality, but it was a cloudy bath with a strong sulfur smell, which was authentic and very good. Also, being able to wander around in the Property's attire was the best! The relaxed feeling of a Japanese Onsen matched well with the world-class space presentation and service. The breakfast was also delicious. I went to the restaurant and had a warm omelet. The person who served me was a woman, but as I was leaving, a man from the restaurant called my name and thanked me. I was surprised by the thoroughness of their hospitality, as even those who did not directly serve me knew my name. I called the front desk three times, and each time the response was quick and helpful. Before turndown service, I left my charging cord casually on the sofa and left the Room, but when I returned, it was neatly organized, which surprised me. I don't usually stay at luxury Hotels, but if I can have such an experience, I will definitely revisit. It became a wonderful memory. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

It was excellent!
I visited for 3 days and 2 nights during the New Year! Since I was with my child, we arranged activities in advance, and we were able to spend a very fulfilling and wonderful 3 days. Mr. Wada, who communicated with us via email, was very kind, and my daughter became attached to him, and he even saw us off at the end. Thank you very much. The teppanyaki course was truly delicious, and we were very satisfied with the carefully arranged course content! Afternoon tea, breakfast, meals at the lobby lounge, in-room dining, everything was delicious. I was curious about the Onsen at the Hotel, especially since it's the Ritz, but the open-air bath with a view of the snow-covered garden was amazing, well-maintained, and even though I usually don't like large public baths, I visited several times. If I had to say one thing, it took an hour to check in (it was a busy season, but it would have been nice to enter the Room by 3 PM), and there were some hairs on the corner of the Room and the bed right after entering, which was a bit disappointing. Also, the bed guard requested during the turndown service was not attached, and there was dust accumulated, but it wasn't cleaned during the turndown service, which was a bit disappointing. However, when I requested the bed guard, it was immediately attached, and overall, I was able to spend my time without stress, which was great! It was a long journey of 7 hours one way, but it was the best Hotel that made me want to visit again! I have stayed at many Ritz-Carltons, but this one is by far my number one! Thank you very much!

Beyond expectations! That's the Ritz quality.
I have always wanted to visit, and this time I stayed for one night and two days. The quality of the room, meals, Onsen, and amenities was truly worthy of the Ritz. The best part was the high level of customer service from the staff. No matter who you ask, they provide accurate answers and their response is courteous. I am extremely satisfied! I will definitely visit again.

The hot water is excellent.
The accommodation fee is high, but the room, onsen water, and service are very good. The lighting in the restaurant and bath was made very dim to create a sense of luxury, but it was a bit too dark to see, so it would be better to make it a little brighter. The bath was milky white and seemed very good for the skin.

The location is excellent, but the service is terrible.
I’m a Taiwanese resident living in Kansai. I visited this Hotel with my niece who works in Tokyo and my sister who came from Taiwan. However, from the time we arrived until we could enter our Room, we were kept waiting for a full hour. The check-in staff spoke so quietly that I had to lean forward repeatedly to hear them. On top of that, they asked for my credit card number. The Accommodation fee should have already been paid through the Reservation site, so I asked why they needed it, but I never received a clear answer. I wasn’t satisfied, but I just wanted to rest in the Room as soon as possible, so I reluctantly gave the number. Also, the staff said we could change the meal details for the second day. When I said we wanted to do that, we were made to wait another 10+ minutes. When they came back, for some reason they brought another staff member and suddenly started speaking Chinese. My niece and I may not be very good at Japanese, but their Chinese was even harder to understand than our Japanese. They finally guided us to our Room, but gave no explanation at all about anything inside it. For dinner on the second day, there was no paper explaining the course menu for some reason. Since we didn’t know what was included, I asked whether there would be a final dish at the end; with a stern expression, the staff said that if we wanted one it would cost extra. Also, even though it was shabu-shabu hot pot dinner service,, sorbet was served midway through—but no spoon was provided.. Our checkout time was supposed to be until 12:00 p.m., so when I told them “I’d like to check out around 11:00,” they looked annoyed for some reason.. After checkout,, a staff member handed us a souvenir: something shaped like an amulet made of green cloth with no writing on it; even its name was simply “amulet.” We accepted it,, but this Hotel left me exhausted from start to finish.. The location is excellent and Facilities are impressive,, butthe servicewas terrible..

Hospitality
Thank you for the wonderful hospitality. I was worried that I might be disturbing your work. It might be selfish, but the meals were a bit too much for the elderly.

Everything is exceptional.
I had visited for lunch before and wanted to stay next time, so this was a long-awaited revisit. The room's spaciousness, facilities, onsen, meals, and service were all excellent. We stayed on the 3rd floor with a view of Lake Chuzenji, but I felt that the view might have been even more beautiful from higher floors. Having breakfast in the room was very nice. According to reviews, bread is included even with Japanese-style breakfast, but it wasn’t provided during our stay. We requested a refill of rice from the pot but it seemed to have been forgotten as it took quite some time to arrive—this was disappointing. However, overall it was a wonderful experience!

The stay itself was satisfactory, but...
I stayed for two nights in the Chuzenji Lake View Suite. I was very satisfied with the facility and the services during my stay. The onsen was particularly good. However, despite having prepaid the accommodation fee, I was charged again at checkout, resulting in a double charge. The subsequent handling of this issue was very disappointing. Since I paid by credit card at checkout, I didn't realize the double charge until 10 days later. When I contacted the hotel, the front desk staff said, "We will process the refund immediately. We will send a corrected receipt, so please return the one you received." However, even after a week, the corrected receipt did not arrive, and the credit card charge was not corrected. When I contacted them again, they said, "We haven't been able to address it," so I asked them to handle it immediately. Yet, even after another three days, the receipt had not arrived, and the credit card charge was still not corrected. On the third contact, I finally received a specific response: "We have sent the receipt. The accounting department will request a correction of the credit card charge in four days." Two weeks after the discovery, and after contacting them three times, the accounting department still hadn't requested a correction of the credit card charge. The credit card billing date had already passed, and I was left wondering what would happen with the double withdrawal (an extra amount exceeding 500,000 yen) from my account. (It seems the actual refund will take another 2-3 weeks through the credit card company.) Only frustration remained, and the satisfaction from my stay vanished. In the first place, I was fortunate to notice the double charge myself this time, but I became concerned about what would have happened if I hadn't noticed, and about other guests as well. I had hoped to use the property again, but I was very disappointed with the series of responses from the staff. Those who use the property should make sure to check their receipts and statements.

The Facility was excellent, but there were some disappointing aspects.
Without any explanation, it took more than 30 minutes to check in, leaving us wondering what was happening until we reached our room. Additionally, during dinner, the staff seemed busy, and their response felt cold. It took a long time for the next dish to be served, reducing the time we had planned to spend in the Onsen. The fabric of the yukata was thin, and without a haori, women felt hesitant to walk the same corridors as those in Western clothing. We hope that haori will be available in the room without having to request it. The same goes for pajamas. We were impressed by the wonderful scenery and the facilities that truly lived up to the Ritz, but the service was a bit disappointing.
