    Employee Appreciation Trip: Dinner and Breakfast Included Plan

    A luxurious and wonderful hotel that lived up to its reputation, creating unforgettable memories! Initially hesitant due to its location in the busy area near Kiyomizu Temple, this accommodation exceeded expectations in the best way possible. As we mentioned it was a family retirement celebration trip during the reservation process, we received a thoughtful email from the hotel offering sparkling wine as a celebratory gesture before our stay. During our visit, we were delighted with a significant room upgrade and appreciated the message card offering non-alcoholic options upon request. In addition to celebratory drinks, all other beverages in the fridge and mini alcohol bottles at room temperature were included in the accommodation fee—a series of pleasant surprises! The lounge access was also included without time restrictions, operating from 7:30 AM to 10 PM with continuous offerings of drinks, sweets, and snacks—truly impressive. For dinner, we enjoyed sushi kaiseki at their on-site restaurant. The dishes beyond sushi were intricately prepared; especially noteworthy was the low-temperature cooked beef—it was exquisite. Breakfast featured a semi-buffet style with main dish selections and high-quality vegetables, meats, and drinks. The complimentary rental list even included rare items like foot massagers. Upon requesting one, they promptly set it up for immediate use with an extension cord—such attentive service! When asking for towel replacements (usually not provided outside multiple night stays), they went above and beyond by performing turndown service as well. Thank you very much for your exceptional hospitality—we look forward to visiting again! Lastly (and humbly), I’d like to share some feedback out of great satisfaction: 1) Consider introducing an early morning shuttle service to Kiyomizu Temple—even just one-way group trips would be convenient. 2) The bathroom ventilation fan had noticeable dirt; otherwise cleaning was perfect. 3) Provide clear guidance about takeout cups for coffee/tea in the lounge—I only discovered them when another guest requested one before checkout. 4) Lounge air conditioning felt weak compared to how warm and comfortable it was at your on-site restaurant.

    This time with my daughter

    This time, I was finally able to enjoy a Multiple Night Stay. Staying just one night at this Hotel always felt like such a waste, but this year I was lucky enough to have the chance, and my daughter joined me as well. It was her first time here, and she said she wanted to stay in the lounge all day without going anywhere else. I also had a relaxing and fulfilling time on my own. The breakfast has evolved into a semi-buffet style where you choose your main dish and enjoy the rest in buffet format—it was even better than before. As expected, everything tasted delicious. Also, there were beautifully designed menus placed in the Room that I hadn't noticed before (or maybe they are new), which made me want to try everything on them. With such options available, it feels tempting not to make dinner reservations elsewhere and just stay in. I look forward to visiting again!

    Feel the sensation of time travel.

    The hotel is a modern Western-style accommodation with a classic charm, renovated from an old elementary school. It is so stylish and reminiscent of excellent European architecture that you wouldn't guess its origins without being told. It brought back memories of childhood, giving a sense of time travel. The rooftop terrace bar has an atmosphere similar to Venice, Italy, making you want to enjoy a drink. The staff's attentiveness and care were outstanding, ensuring a pleasant stay. Although there are no onsen or facilities other than the room's bath, the larger-than-average bathtub in the room was very comfortable and not an issue at all. For this reason, I rated it 4 stars for bathing amenities. I had sushi at the sushi bar; while it was average in quality, the overall experience was enjoyable. This accommodation is highly recommended for everyone!

    We stayed as a couple for our anniversary. It was a luxurious Hotel that made us want to stay longer with its comfortable atmosphere. The staff's thoughtful attention, especially for our special occasion, was truly appreciated. We would love to visit again.

    Stayed in March and ...

    Stayed in March and had a great experience, so this time stayed for 2 nights. The room was a Panoramic Terrace Twin at a very reasonable rate. Upon entering the room, I understood why. The view was not ideal as it faced construction funded by Chinese capital next to the tower of Hokanji Temple. Workers were present, making it impossible to open the curtains. It would be helpful if such details were mentioned in the Plan description. On the second night, I moved to a Deluxe Twin room, but its view overlooked an area of old residential houses, which was unexpected. The room itself was very comfortable; the complimentary hors d'oeuvres were delightful, and the staff provided heartfelt hospitality. A single fresh flower placed subtly in the bathroom added a rare touch of elegance and relaxation that is uncommon even in Hotels. I had reserved dinner at Benoit but couldn’t fully enjoy it due to lack of appetite—unfortunate given how delicious it was. Returning to my Room after dinner, I found turndown service completed; the bed was incredibly comfortable and allowed me to sleep soundly through the night for once. For breakfast, I enjoyed risotto as my main dish alongside an excellent buffet selection with attentive service from staff members. This Hotel is one that can only be booked during off-season periods due to its rank but is definitely worth revisiting just for its exceptional experience!

    The meal was not satisfactory.

    Breakfast was included. However, it was quite ordinary with no creativity in both Japanese and Western options. The bread was not tasty, and the bacon and sausages were no different from those found at a regular supermarket, which did not match the grade of the Hotel. The bar on the 4th floor was lovely, but the staff smelled of cigarettes and did not seem professional for a Hotel employee.

    Seiryu Accommodation in Kyoto

    I am a repeat guest, and this time I brought my husband along. The Hotel has transformed into a truly wonderful place while retaining traces of its old-school charm. From the Room, you can enjoy views of Kyoto's cityscape and the Yasaka Pagoda, filling your heart with the feeling of being in Kyoto. The on-site restaurant Benoit offers delicious meals, and the lounge where breakfast is served is well-equipped, making it convenient to enjoy everything within the Hotel itself (though I haven't visited the rooftop bar yet!). This is a Hotel I would love to visit again. In the morning, I saw a rainbow—what happiness!

    A Hotel Worth Revisiting

    I have visited several times, and each visit reaffirms how wonderful this Hotel is. Located along the bustling path to Kiyomizu Temple, the premises offer a serene and tranquil atmosphere with a unique sense of charm. The Room, Facility, and amenities are all sufficient for a comfortable stay, with ample space. I enjoyed the nostalgic touch of its former school building while relaxing at my own pace. The staff's warm hospitality and attentive care made using the Facility very pleasant. Breakfast has changed to a half-buffet style; while items like school-inspired tableware are no longer present, it was enjoyable to choose from various updated menu options such as pickled vegetable risotto now featuring suguki instead of shibazuke. The atmosphere has become somewhat more casual but remains cozy and inviting. For dinner, the sushi kaiseki offered beautifully presented seasonal dishes starting from appetizers, along with hearty servings including meat dishes—making it very satisfying in terms of volume. Overall, this is an exceptionally comfortable place to stay—a truly wonderful Hotel that I would love to visit again!

    Memorable Accommodation

    We were very excited about our stay during our 10th wedding anniversary trip to Kyoto, especially since we had been wanting to visit this accommodation for a long time. At check-in, the staff warmly welcomed us and even upgraded our room while offering a complimentary bottle of non-alcoholic champagne. As someone who doesn't drink alcohol, this thoughtful gesture was a delightful surprise. The view from the rooftop was not only stunning but the food and drinks were also exceptional—especially the prosciutto and pizza, which left a lasting impression. The location is another highlight, as it is within walking distance of Kiyomizu-dera Temple. We were able to visit twice—once for the evening illumination and once in the early morning—and it was truly satisfying. I wish I could have spent more time enjoying the lounge, so I am already looking forward to staying at Hotel Seiryu again on my next trip to Kyoto!

    It was wonderful.

    I stayed at the accommodation during a long-awaited trip to Kyoto with my elderly mother. The staff provided warm and attentive service, and everything from the comfortable room to the meals was exceptional, leaving us completely satisfied. The breakfast, enjoyed while overlooking a quiet and beautiful courtyard that feels far removed from the bustling path to Kiyomizu Temple, was truly special. My mother also mentioned wanting to stay here again. We would love to use this accommodation for our next trip to Kyoto as well. Thank you for providing such a wonderful experience!

    The facility and env...

    The facility and environment were excellent. However, the reception staff could improve. Other staff members, including security, restaurant staff, and those we passed by, provided outstanding service. The sushi kaiseki had delicious appetizers, but the sushi pieces were large and the fish was a bit tough, which was slightly disappointing. The room was user-friendly and bright; I would love to visit again.

    I was very satisfied.

    I was very satisfied with everything, including the staff's hospitality and the guest lounge. In particular, when we visited the guest lounge after dinner, two male staff members made us delicious cocktails of their choice, and we had a very enjoyable time. Thank you very much. However, my wife chose the morning hot pot from the breakfast menu, and compared to my Japanese-style breakfast, it only came with the small hot pot. She mentioned it would have been nice if there were some small Japanese side dishes included. That said, it was truly a wonderful Hotel, and we had a great trip. Lastly, thank you for accommodating the Diamond benefits. We will definitely visit again.

    A stay filled with hospitality

    A stay in Kyoto during the lingering summer heat I stayed for two nights at Hotel Seiryu, where I could enjoy a wonderful view while staying at the hotel. The staff's thoughtfulness made my stay very comfortable. Even though it was still very hot in September, I participated in hotel events instead of moving around during the day and enjoyed experiencing Kyoto indoors. Hotel Seiryu, which has revived a historic building as a hotel, is truly worth staying at.

    Wonderful Hotel Time

    Everything was simply amazing. We arrived quite early at the partnered parking lot, and from the warm welcome there to the reception, guidance to our room, and explanation of the facilities, every aspect of their service was refined yet heartfelt. Thank you so much for upgrading our room and allowing us an early check-in. From our room, we could see Yasaka Pagoda. After enjoying a little alcohol in the room, we headed to the lounge where we sipped champagne while watching a Maiko dance performance and taking photos starting at 4:15 PM. At 5 PM, we had reserved seats at the rooftop bar; however, due to bad weather it was closed. We were allowed a quick tour before heading to K36 Bar indoors for a drink instead. Dinner started at 6:30 PM in their restaurant with sushi kaiseki cuisine—it was delicious! The service here too was impeccable. Having had more than enough drinks by then, I returned to my room for an early rest. Breakfast on an outdoor terrace table at their restaurant was also delightful. Since we had a long drive ahead toward our next accommodation in Ehime's auberge-style lodging, we checked out slightly earlier than usual. We thoroughly enjoyed everything within this Hotel!

    I stayed with the Gion Festival Plan. My flight arrived much earlier than check-in time, so I had reserved lunch elsewhere and headed straight to Hotel Seiryu Shimizu from Itami Airport to leave my luggage. However, I was informed that my room would soon be ready, and after completing the check-in process while enjoying a welcome drink, I was guided to my room. Afterward, I enjoyed some sweets and drinks from Gion Tsujiri in the lounge before heading out to the lunch venue. Post-lunch, I explored the Yamaboko floats near Shijo Karasuma. When it started raining, I returned to the hotel by taxi and relaxed in the lounge with tea while listening to a koto performance—a refreshing break after walking around in the heat for Yamaboko viewing. At 6:00 PM, I walked round-trip to Yasaka Shrine for Kagura performances but returned exhausted from the heat and enjoyed sushi for dinner at the hotel's restaurant at a leisurely pace. During cocktail time at the lounge, we opted for an à la carte sushi menu instead of a set course meal. Next time, if given another opportunity during this seasonally hot period of Kagura performances, I'd prefer joining one of their guided tours within the hotel premises instead! The following day offered exclusive access atop private building floors overlooking Yamahoko Processions amidst rainy weather conditions—making me grateful about choosing such plans beforehand! During lighter drizzles outside moments allowed descending closer ground-level views nearby too! This particular plan’s late checkout option until 6:00 PM stood out wonderfully; allowing ample relaxation post-processional sightseeing back inside serene quiet lounges afterward felt perfect overall experience-wise altogether! Unfortunately though pre-booked return flights necessitated early departure/checkouts nearer around ~3PM-ish timings prematurely cutting short extended stays otherwise possible ideally longer durations potentially preferred ideally next visits hopefully future occasions alike similarly repeat-worthy memorable experiences fondly cherished always remembered fondly forevermore timelessly appreciated eternally valued deeply treasured immensely satisfying thoroughly enjoyable consistently delightful invariably rewarding perpetually fulfilling ultimately gratifying conclusively I had been counting down the days until my stay, and stepping into the hotel filled me with indescribable joy. Sharing my experiences and photos with my husband, who stayed home, even made him say, "I'm so glad you found such a wonderful hotel," as if it were his own joy. The lounge was never crowded no matter when I visited, allowing me to enjoy a relaxing and luxurious time while making matcha or savoring Tsujiri sweets. My daughter and I also had the chance to try playing the koto together—a rare and delightful experience. The breakfast featuring hamo shabu-shabu and suguki risotto was exquisite, making for a special moment as I reflected on memories of an old elementary school while enjoying each bite. While this may be just another day for the hotel staff and I might be one of many guests they welcome daily, I truly felt that this warm-hearted hotel values each guest's story and emotions deeply. I will definitely return again. I've left some space in this trip's photo album intentionally—I look forward to bringing it back next time to complete it!

    Staying here was a dream come true as I had been wanting to stay since the hotel opened, having lived in Kyoto at the time and hearing all the buzz about it. Every aspect, from the room and lounge facilities to the staff's service and meals, provided an absolutely wonderful experience. During my visit to the library, I had a great time looking through a book documenting the renovation of this former elementary school. After reading it, I explored the hotel while reflecting on its past as a school. Thank you for upgrading my room—it was such a lovely space with an excellent view of Yasaka Pagoda!

    I stayed for two nights.

    I love the view of Yasaka Pagoda from here, and I stay here every time I visit Kyoto. The hospitality is outstanding, and I can always stay with peace of mind. Thank you for your thoughtful care in the Room—it made for a wonderful two days. Wearing a kimono from the rental shop you recommended, strolling around and dining out, and meeting a maiko were all unforgettable memories. The Kyoto cityscape at dusk from the rooftop bar, along with the view of Yasaka Pagoda, is truly breathtaking and deeply moving. Breakfast was excellent at an international hotel where I stayed on another occasion, so I would be happy if it could be improved here as well. Thank you very much for a wonderful stay.

    The staff's smiles were truly heartwarming. I was moved by how an old elementary school could be transformed into such a stunning accommodation. The design was both grand and modern, absolutely beautiful. The rooftop bar had an amazing atmosphere, with excellent drinks and food. Breakfast was a semi-buffet style where you could choose your main dish—everything was delicious, and the portions were more than enough to satisfy. Everyone at the breakfast venue, bar, reception, and lounge was so kind and attentive that it made me want to visit this accommodation again for sure. It turned out to be a wonderful trip.     We stayed in mid-May for a mother-daughter trip with my elderly mother. When I contacted the accommodation with questions beforehand and mentioned my companion, they kindly asked if we would like a bath mat or bath chair prepared in the bathroom, which impressed me with their hospitality even before our visit. During our stay, they explained the history of the hotel and its facilities in detail, remembered our names throughout, and provided kind assistance at all times. Their exceptional service truly made our experience wonderful—thank you so much! Additionally, when reserving a spot at the rooftop bar for us, they secured an excellent location that left us deeply moved once again. The room itself was spacious as it used to be a classroom; it offered stunning views of the courtyard from its windows. The breakfast served the next morning was also outstanding. This trip became an unforgettable memory filled with nothing but satisfaction. Beyond its luxurious design featuring only 48 rooms within such spacious premises, what stood out most was the thoughtful and caring service provided by all staff members—a truly remarkable hotel experience. While preserving traces of its former life—corridors, staircases, and classroom-like details—the space has been refined with contemporary elegance, offering the special experience of “staying in a cultural heritage property.” I visited with a less-than-positive impression, wondering why it was so expensive if it was based on an elementary school, but unless you are told, you would never know—it is a flawless luxury Hotel. The guest rooms are spacious, with tasteful interiors that harmoniously combine Japanese and Western elements. The amenities and furnishings are also high quality, making the stay extremely comfortable. On-site there is also the rooftop bar “K36,” which offers panoramic views over Kyoto; at night we could see illuminated Kyoto Tower and Kiyomizu-dera Temple—an unforgettable experience. It was also great that all guests can use the complimentary guest lounge, where you can enjoy delicious bite-sized snacks and drinks while taking in views of a five-story pagoda and nature. 【Service】 The staff were exceptionally courteous and polished—exactly what you would expect from a luxury Hotel. From check-in to check-out, their attentive hospitality stood out. Their guidance around the building was clear and accurate as well, allowing for a worry-free stay. 【Location】 Another highlight is the outstanding location: within walking distance of Kiyomizu-dera Temple and Sannenzaka—indeed right along Kiyomizu-dera’s approach. It is also very convenient as a base for sightseeing. It was unfortunate that I had work in the morning and couldn’t go for an early stroll.

    I had the opportunity to stay at Seiryu, a luxury hotel renovated from an elementary school, for the first time. Located along the path leading to Kiyomizu-dera Temple, it was quite crowded and challenging to reach by taxi. However, once inside the premises, it was a calm and peaceful facility that felt completely detached from the outside hustle and bustle. The hotel interior retained elements reminiscent of a school while offering spacious, bright rooms that were very user-friendly with well-equipped facilities. Complimentary drinks in the room added to the comfort throughout my stay. The bathroom was also spacious with a large bathtub, providing a relaxing atmosphere. At the lounge in another building, snacks and alcoholic beverages were available in addition to coffee starting in the evening, while light breakfast options were served from 7:30 AM—this was incredibly convenient. I also visited their rooftop bar I had been looking forward to experiencing. Despite cloudy weather during my visit, I enjoyed its unique ambiance not found elsewhere; both pasta and pizza were delicious as well! Since there was a line for seating at this popular spot, I’m glad I made an advance reservation. Above all else is its prime location near Kiyomizu-dera Temple—it made visiting Maruyama Park’s night cherry blossoms or early morning prayers at Kiyomizu-dera extremely convenient without dealing with crowds. Throughout my stay here at this accommodation filled with relaxation opportunities—I truly felt satisfied! Thank you very much!

    We had a wonderful stay and would love to visit again. The Room was very comfortable, and the lounge's extended hours allowed us to relax at our own pace. Exploring the heritage Hotel was also a delightful experience, making our time truly enjoyable. Regarding breakfast, although we had informed the staff beforehand that there were three of us, it seemed this information wasn’t properly communicated. A table for three was hastily arranged upon arrival, which made us slightly concerned. Additionally, while enjoying the common menu items like fruits and yogurt served initially, an incident occurred where my child saved their favorite fruit from my portion to eat later but it was cleared away without notice while we were eating the main course. We understand it’s important for staff to monitor what they clear; however, in our family tradition, fruits are typically eaten last during meals. It felt unnecessary to remove plates silently when they weren’t part of a set course meal. This aspect left us slightly disappointed. That said, this is still a lovely Hotel that we would be delighted to visit again!

    A hotel with a unique flavor

    Since it has been renovated from an elementary school, it has a unique charm. Additionally, it is close to Kiyomizu-dera and the Gion Tower, making it one of the most quintessentially Kyoto locations where you can fully enjoy Kyoto with a night or early morning stroll. The facilities such as the guest lounge are also excellent, and the staff's service was wonderful, allowing us to have a great time. I would like to visit again if I have the opportunity.

    After visiting the plum blossoms at Kitano Tenmangu Shrine and museums in the morning, we arrived in the early afternoon. Although it's a bustling area with many tourists near Kiyomizu Temple and Yasaka Shrine, once you step into the entrance of the Hotel, it's tranquil. The courtyard that retains features of the building before renovation and the aroma at the lobby entrance lift your spirits. I enjoyed matcha and Tsuruya Yoshinobu's wagashi while being delighted by the variety and quality of food and drinks in the lounge. I was very pleased with a surprise arrangement in my Room, perhaps because they remembered I used it for an anniversary last time. Also, I felt their consideration for guests when they promptly delivered amenities after I mentioned forgetting makeup remover or when they installed cute design furnishings and lights. The breakfast venue was lovely, and the Japanese-style risotto we had was truly delicious. When I asked about interior design to Hotel staff, they brought materials from before and after Hotel renovations from books in their library; this sparked conversation with my husband as we looked through them together, making for an enjoyable time. We had another relaxing stay this time that became a delightful memory.

    This was my second stay. Last time, I didn't use the bar because I had children with me, but this time I did and it was very nice. I was generally satisfied with the lounge as well, just like last time.
