    Celebrating My Daughter’s Birthday

    We stayed as a mother-and-daughter trip to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. We have stayed at many Accommodations, but our time at Fufu Nikko was truly unforgettable and the best experience we could have hoped for. The Room was extremely comfortable, and the in-room Onsen was wonderfully relaxing—we enjoyed it many times during our stay. The dining was also outstanding. Each dish was beautiful to look at, thoughtfully presented on lovely tableware, and you could really feel the care and attention behind every detail. Everything tasted delicious. The final dish—rice with conger eel and lotus root—was especially wonderful, but we were so full that we couldn’t finish it. That is my only regret. Even now, my daughter and I still say, “We wish we had eaten it all.” The whole cake we requested in advance for my daughter’s birthday was also set up beautifully when we returned to our Room after dinner. They even added flowers along with the cake, and my daughter was deeply touched by their thoughtfulness. Thanks to you, it became a truly memorable birthday. Above all, what stayed with us most was the hospitality of the staff. From the warm welcome on arrival to the heartfelt send-off at departure, everything felt comfortable. Wherever we met someone, they greeted us kindly, and each small gesture of consideration felt genuinely warm. The explanations of each course were clear and attentive, and the casual conversations in between were enjoyable as well. The service never felt formal or stiff—just perfectly attentive with a comfortable sense of distance—and both my daughter and I were completely charmed. Of course the Facility and cuisine were exceptional, but this stay reminded me that what ultimately makes you think “I want to come back” is always the people. Even after returning home, my daughter and I haven’t stopped talking about Fufu Nikko. We’ve become big fans of “Fufu,” and are already planning which Fufu property to visit next—with hopes of visiting them all someday. I sincerely thank all of your staff for making this important birthday trip with my daughter such a wonderful memory. We will definitely return again. Thank you very much.

    As expected of a two-Michelin-Key Accommodation.

    Inspired by the design philosophy of the adjacent Tamozawa Imperial Villa, the delicious cuisine and how it is served, complimentary drink time in the lounge, the quality of the Onsen waters, and the hospitality—everything was outstanding, truly worthy of its two Michelin Keys. We would love to stay again during the autumn foliage season.

    It was the best stay.

    The Facility was clean, and the surroundings were quiet. The service was excellent as well. When we arrived without any dinner plans, you kindly made arrangements at short notice so we could enjoy Japanese cuisine within the Hotel, which was a great help. There is just one thing that concerned me. I stayed in Room 304, and the bathroom floor in the Room was surprisingly slippery. I think it could be dangerous for elderly guests, so it may be worth addressing. I forgot to mention it at checkout, so I am reporting it here.

    A wonderful accommodation.

    This is a very charming Accommodation. The Room has a large sofa, perfect for relaxing and even taking a comfortable nap. You can enjoy the Onsen both in the bath in your Room and in the large public bath. The open-air bath at the large public bath was especially wonderful, surrounded by nature. The meals were delicious, made with seasonal ingredients and locally sourced produce. They also kindly changed the river fish dish I don’t like, which was very helpful. Above all, all of the staff were so pleasant—it’s one of the main reasons I’d like to come back!

    A wonderful space

    We had a relaxing, soothing stay in a spacious Room surrounded by greenery. The in-Room bath with a view was wonderful, and the dressing area was very spacious. There were also two showers and two sinks, and the bed was large and comfortable! The lounge at night and the garden were also lovely! Most of all, the dinner and breakfast we had been looking forward to were truly delicious, beautifully presented, and we were completely satisfied.

    The Ultimate Relaxing Accommodation

    I had planned to visit last year, but had to cancel due to personal reasons. This time, I was finally able to make up for it. The hospitality exceeded my expectations, and the quality of the meals was beyond anything I imagined. I noticed “soy sauce salt” in the shop and asked at dinner whether it would be served. I was told it wouldn’t be included, but they kindly prepared a small amount for me to taste. It was absolutely delicious, so of course I bought some as a souvenir. I don’t think I would have purchased it if I hadn’t been able to try it first. The food itself was wonderful, but more than that, I truly felt their desire for guests to enjoy every bite even more. The hospitality was outstanding in every way. Thank you very much to all the staff. I will definitely visit again.

    My expectations may have been too high.

    The staff who guided us to our Room and assisted during meals were relatively young, but their hard work really came through, which was very nice. Perhaps because my expectations were too high, the meals felt average. At the final send-off, they saw off the previous guests with several staff members until their car was out of sight, but for us they only said “thank you” at the entrance. What accounts for this difference? We also arrived by car. Was it because we were younger? I think service should be consistent and not vary depending on the guest. It left me feeling unpleasant at the end.

    Fully satisfied

    This was a special trip to celebrate my mother’s 80th birthday, and we decided to splurge. Unfortunately it rained, but all the staff provided wonderfully pleasant service, and we were able to stay very comfortably. The next day was sunny, and we also enjoyed the open-air bath with both rain and sunshine. Breakfast and dinner were served at just the right times, which we were very satisfied with, and my mother was truly delighted as well. I’d like to visit again when the season changes, and I’d also like to stay at other Hotels in the same group.

    We had a very satisfying stay!

    I visited with my sister and my mother, who uses a wheelchair. They thoughtfully arranged a way for us to clean the wheelchair wheels so it could be used inside the Room as well, and the service was attentive throughout. The Room layout was easy to use, and the bath was a natural hot-spring Onsen that left our skin smooth and felt wonderful—my mother was so happy she went in again and again. I’ll never forget how delicious the “Amakobore” tomato juice I had at breakfast was!

    Satisfied with everything

    We were completely satisfied with everything: the delicious food, the large public bath and the bath in our Room, and the service! If I had to mention a few small points… Recently, even at Accommodations costing over 100,000 yen per night, amenities are often provided in refillable bottles, which makes you wonder if they’re just topped up indefinitely. It wasn’t a negative since we can bring our own. Hair dryers are often ReFa or Dyson; here, our Room had a Dyson, but the one in the large public bath was different, so we dried our hair in the Room. Also, there was no coffee machine in the Room, and coffee in the lounge was paid as well—so it would have been even better if we could have enjoyed complimentary good coffee. After checkout, I asked a staff member if we could leave our car parked there for a while, and they gave us tickets to borrow an earphone guide at Tamozawa Imperial Villa. We were told that explanations can now be listened to on a smartphone instead, so we received postcards instead. All of the staff were very pleasant. Their movements and manners at both dinner and breakfast were attentive and refined—my husband was impressed. It was an Accommodation that made us want to visit again.

    We had the best holiday.

    Thank you very much for your kind hospitality. This was my first stay, and I truly appreciate your prompt and courteous assistance even though I arrived early. From check-in to check-out the next day, everything was perfect. It began with the polite and thorough explanation in the check-in lounge, followed by the high quality of the Room, the cleanliness including the linens, the bathroom and other water facilities, and the comfort of the Simmons bed and wonderfully soft down bedding. The bed-making was flawless—so perfectly firm that even a 10-yen coin would bounce back if dropped. I was completely satisfied with every aspect. This time I only had breakfast, but it was also outstanding in both taste and presentation—an ideal finale to my stay. I felt this reflected the manager’s philosophy and excellent leadership throughout. I hope to return again as soon as possible. Thank you once again for your wonderful hospitality. With sincere gratitude.

    The Best Accommodation

    This was my first time staying here. From the warm welcome upon arrival, to the open-air bath in the large public bath surrounded by greenery, the spacious lounge and complimentary drink service, and the beautifully presented and delicious meals with thoughtful substitutions for ingredients I can’t eat, everything was wonderful. The Room also offered plenty of space, a very comfortable bed, and a large indoor bath. Every aspect was excellent, and we had an amazing time. We were completely satisfied and would love to stay again.

    What was the purpose of contacting us in advance?

    I have stayed here many times for important occasions such as anniversaries and my partner’s birthday. Because I believed this was one of the few Accommodations that consistently offered hospitality worthy of its price range and service that exceeded expectations, I was deeply disappointed with this stay. This time, we visited to celebrate his birthday. In advance, I explained, “The Reservation is under his name, but this is a surprise from me, so please make sure he does not find out,” and I requested a fresh fruit platter instead of a cake. However, on the day of arrival, right after we reached the entrance, a foreign doorman asked him—not me—“May we bring the fruit and champagne to your Room?” That single comment completely ruined the surprise. What was the point of communicating in advance and sharing my request? Based on the Accommodation Fee alone it is a luxury Ryokan, but judging from this response, information sharing among staff was shockingly inadequate. What I also cannot understand is why this confirmation had to be made at the entrance. Even after escorting us to the Room, there would have been many ways to confirm only with me as the requester. In addition, when I previously visited by motorcycle, you kindly secured parking space for me and I remember being truly impressed by that consideration. That is why I felt comfortable coming again by motorcycle—but this time all I received was a brief “Please leave it outside.” With such inconsistency in service quality, it makes me wonder what that previous positive experience meant. More than the mistake itself, I was disappointed by how little awareness there seemed to be about ruining an important occasion and by how poorly information was shared. Because guests pay a significant amount and come expecting special time here, it is extremely regrettable that what matters most for a luxury Ryokan was missing. I liked this Accommodation so much that “disappointed” does not even begin to describe how let down I felt by this stay.

    A Truly Satisfying Stay at Fufu Nikko

    Guestrooms and the large public bath were wrapped in a serene quiet, as if surrounded by forest. The food was delicious, and the tableware was wonderful as well, so we could fully enjoy not only the flavors but also the presentation. Above all, the staff’s hospitality was outstanding, and we spent a comfortable time throughout our stay. It’s easy to see why Fufu Nikko receives such high ratings in Review sites. If I have the chance, I would definitely like to stay again. I gave 4 stars for Facilities & Amenities because there was nothing like a fan in the large public bath area to cool down an overheated body. There were items like ice cream and lemon milk prepared in the changing room, but as someone with a small appetite, I couldn’t have any… Even after sweating it out in the 42°C Onsen, it took quite a while for me to stop sweating again.

    We were extremely satisfied—an Accommodation we’d love to visit again.

    After staying at Fufu Hakone with my family in January, we became big fans and wanted to try another Fufu, so we made a Reservation. The entire Accommodation features beautiful interiors that blend Taisho-era romance with Fufu’s signature simple modern style. The refined atmosphere shows attention to detail throughout, and together with the calm, attentive service from the staff, it created a gentle ambiance that allowed us to truly relax. For dinner we enjoyed a Japanese kaiseki course, with delicate flavors and an abundance of seasonal spring ingredients—it was outstanding. The staff member who served us also chatted naturally while bringing sightseeing brochures and other helpful materials; it was exactly what you would expect from such a high level of hospitality. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, and we finished everything. The private Onsen in our Room was spacious and made us feel wonderfully indulged. The large public bath also has an open-air bath, and soaking slowly during the slightly chilly season was incredibly relaxing. After check-out, one of our family members accidentally left something behind and caused you trouble; we are very grateful for how smoothly you handled it. Following our stay in Hakone, this visit was also wonderful, and our whole family was very satisfied. We would love to visit Fufu Nikko again—and we’re eager to stay at other Fufu properties as well!

    A beautiful retreat with exquisite cuisine at the Imperial Villa. A memorable anniversary, touched by warm hospitality

    Fufu Nikko stands on the historic grounds of the former Tamozawa Imperial Villa. Surrounded by a sacred atmosphere and towering centuries-old cedar trees, the Accommodation offers a serene and refined retreat. Throughout the property, design motifs inspired by details from the Imperial Villa—such as decorative nail covers—are thoughtfully incorporated, creating a beautiful harmony of history and modernity. If you enjoy architecture and design, I recommend visiting Nikko Tamozawa Imperial Villa Memorial Park with a guided tour before check-in. It will deepen your appreciation of the craftsmanship woven into this Accommodation. For dining, we enjoyed outstanding local ingredients such as Nikko (HIMITSU) pork, Nikko-brand “Jiyomai” rice, Nikko yuba (tofu skin), and Nasu Highlands “Amakobore” tomato juice. Both breakfast and dinner were beautifully presented on Fufu Nikko’s distinctive tableware—delicious for both the eyes and palate—and we were also grateful for their attentive allergy accommodations. We visited to celebrate my wife’s birthday, and the staff kindly helped with our surprise with warm, thoughtful care, making our stay truly moving and unforgettable. From hospitality to ambience to cuisine, this is an exceptional Accommodation that promises a luxurious escape from everyday life in every way.

    A fantastic Accommodation, even on rainy days

    The Room was spacious, tastefully designed, and filled with a calming fragrance. The in-Room Onsen was also wonderful. At the large public bath, drinks and ice cream were free. From the evening until around 7:30 p.m., the lounge also offered free drinks—I enjoyed some amazake. The meals were outstandingly delicious for both dinner and breakfast. The Nikko Botanical Garden next door to the Accommodation is also fantastic. We borrowed an umbrella and took a walk around. The Fufu series always leaves me satisfied.

    A Memorable Family Trip

    To mark a milestone in our daughters’ independence, my husband suggested we spend time here together as a family to celebrate. We really appreciated the convenient access even when work ran late, and being able to choose a later dinner time. From the welcome, to meal service, passing staff in the building, and all the way through to seeing us off, everyone greeted us with relaxed smiles that set such a calm tone. We were also impressed by thoughtful touches like adjusting the table setting for our left-handed family members—truly professional. My husband doesn’t do well with very hot water, so he only bathed once (he said the bath in our Room was so spacious that it took some effort to cool it down with water). After dinner I felt chilled, so I enjoyed a second Onsen soak in our Room. I think our daughter—who isn’t comfortable with shared baths—was happy as well. Our time in the lounge flew by, and at dinner we had seconds of rice while savoring each carefully crafted dish. The sound of the river, the scent throughout the property, and the unhurried pace became wonderful family memories. Thank you very much.

    I’m a returning guest. As always, this Accommodation is the best.

    I’m a returning guest and stayed here two autumns ago as well. Even though I chose a higher-grade Room than last time, I was upgraded again because one became available, and I was able to enjoy a spacious Room in luxury. I made great use of the lounge snacks and drink service and had a relaxing time. On the display shelf next to the TV in the Room—there they were—my favorite cute sleeping cat and three wise monkeys figurines. I want them, but they’re pricey. The small pass-through window for handing over used dishes was also very helpful; leaving dirty cups on the table would just get in the way. The bed was a Simmons—extremely comfortable. The living room sofa was large, and both the washroom and bath were spacious as well. Every dish was delicious, and I finished everything until I was too full for dessert, but they kindly brought dessert to my Room. Breakfast was also delicious, and I even had another bath before checkout and took my time. On the way home, I finally got to tour Tabosawa Imperial Villa as I’d long hoped to do. I had a wonderful holiday. Thank you very much.

    It was a blissful time.

    We stayed at the Hotel from check-in at 3:00 PM to check-out at 11:00 AM, and the time flew by so quickly! It was so comfortable that we found ourselves wishing we could stay longer—never enough, more and more. During the kaiseki dinner, every staff member was consistent in their courteous manner and choice of words when passing by guests, which made the service truly pleasant. It’s rare to see such a high standard shared by everyone. The food had gentle seasoning with deep umami. The main meat dish felt a little tough, but it was still delicious. Thank you all for your warm hospitality until the very end.

    The portion size was just right, and we were very satisfied! We really appreciated that you made the leftover mixed rice into rice balls for a late-night snack! We were also very satisfied with the semi-open-air bath, and we’d love to come again! The staff get 100 points.

    It's been years since my last visit, and I came back because it was so amazing the first time. I've visited places like Lake Kawaguchi and Aqua Sense, a group accommodation, but this one is overwhelmingly No. 1! I returned with high expectations, and it did not disappoint. The food is truly delicious, the room's calm interior design is lovely, and all the staff are friendly and kind—everything here is top-notch. This time, I was informed of an opening for teppanyaki dining, which turned out to be exceptional! The amuse-bouche smoked dish with foie gras and egg bowl were especially outstanding—I still crave them now! The veteran chef in charge was knowledgeable yet humble—a wonderful person. I also love the thoughtful touches that set this accommodation apart: large waterproof tablets you can bring into the bath; plenty of towels and loungewear; a delivery box that eliminates direct interaction; skincare products like lotion and emulsion already provided without needing to ask—all these details make "Fufu" special to me. In the past, I recall being able to order various free amenities from the TV screen in the room with an extensive selection available—it seems that's been scaled back a bit now, which is slightly disappointing. However, everything else remains more than sufficient for a luxurious stay. I'd love to visit other locations like Jogashima or Nara someday too—but it's hard to imagine anything surpassing Fufu Nikko!

    We were truly satisfied with the attentive pre-arrival service and the excellent cuisine!

    I finally had the chance to stay at "Fufu Nikko," which I had been curious about for a long time! The staff provided thorough answers to my inquiries beforehand, allowing me to look forward to the day with peace of mind. The room exceeded my expectations, and I enjoyed a luxurious and relaxing time in the onsen. Every dish was exquisite, leaving me completely satisfied with their delicious flavors.     It was excellent, but there was one disappointing thing...

    The meals, Onsen, room, and staff were all excellent. I was very satisfied. However, there was an unpleasant smell left in the glass, which ruined the water and alcohol. It spoiled the wonderful food as well. I think it would be better to check this properly. I would like to use your services again, so I kindly ask for your attention to this matter.

    We created wonderful memories as a couple.

    This was our first time staying here. It was a special anniversary for us, and we each planned surprises for one another. Thank you for ensuring that both surprises remained secret and were perfectly executed. We created wonderful memories. We were offered the option to switch to teppanyaki for dinner, but based on reviews praising the kaiseki meal, we decided to stick with it—and it was absolutely delightful. At our age, the Japanese-style kaiseki cuisine suited us perfectly. Breakfast also featured beautifully crafted dishes and tableware that we thoroughly enjoyed. Perhaps influenced by our visit to Tamozawa Imperial Villa earlier in the day, we found the room's atmosphere exuded a similar elegance and charm. The spaciousness of the room's bath left such an impression that we used it multiple times! We also managed to enjoy private moments in the large public bath during quieter hours. The pear-flavored tea provided in our room was so delicious that we purchased some from your shop. Unfortunately, due to time constraints, we couldn't spend much time in your lovely lounge—a regret we'll address next time with a multiple night stay. On our way home aboard Spacia, my spouse and I talked about how we'd love to return together again someday. Thank you so much to all of your staff who made this stay so memorable!

    It was excellent!

    This is a repeat stay. The staff at the Hotel always provide excellent service. The guest rooms are thoroughly cleaned and well-maintained. The meals were very delicious. I rated the Facility 4 because the slippers were flimsy and hard to wear, and it was difficult to adjust the lighting in the room. Other than that, everything was wonderful. I would love to visit again!
