    I stay here every summer, and I think this is an excellent Hotel, with clean Rooms and very courteous staff.

    A lovely Hotel with a great atmosphere, even on rainy days.

    To cheer up my elderly mother, we stayed here on a three-generation mother–daughter trip. In our Room, there was some fraying on the curtain (blackout side), and the corner guard on the wall was starting to peel off, so we were careful not to touch it too much in case it got worse. However, while the Hotel showed its age overall, it was kept very clean. The meals were exactly as we had hoped—both the French dinner and the Japanese breakfast were truly delicious. The weather alternated between rain and breaks, but the garden was beautiful both with sunlight filtering through the trees and in the rain-soaked scenery.

    I felt refreshed!

    I think the location is one of the best in Karuizawa. It’s about a 10-minute walk from the station, with many places within walking distance. The meals are excellent, and the staff were warm and welcoming, making it easy to relax and enjoy our stay.

    I had a great summer vacation.

    The location is wonderful—within walking distance of our favorite restaurants and reasonably close to the station, yet quiet. With an elegant, historic atmosphere and a building nestled among the trees, it was a great way to experience a summer holiday in Karuizawa. Above all, the staff’s service was outstanding. Thank you very much. From now on, I won’t have to hesitate when choosing Accommodation in Karuizawa.

    Everything was wonderful.

    I felt it was a classic, charming old Japanese Hotel. The building’s presence, the restaurant, the guest rooms, and the interior were all wonderful. I stayed on a Plan with breakfast and dinner included. The food was just as delicious as what you’d find at Hotels in Tokyo, and they kindly accommodated my dietary dislikes so I could fully enjoy the meals. All of the staff provided excellent service, and I felt everything throughout my stay was great. I would love to stay again. Thank you very much.

    Accommodation Fee

    Two days ago, a Room with the same conditions was priced at about half. If you were going to lower it this much, you should have set a lower price from the start; I could understand something like 30% off, but 50% off feels unreasonable.

    A charming, traditional Hotel

    In early summer in Karuizawa, the Hotel is close to the station, and it feels great to take a pleasant walk via Kumoba Pond to the quiet greenway leading to the Hotel. The building and rooms are old, but clean and relaxing, and I was able to unwind at ease. Both dinner and breakfast at the restaurant are delicious. The portions are just right, which I appreciated. You can see the courtyard from the restaurant, and it felt wonderful to step outside after breakfast. Many of the staff are foreigners; everyone was very friendly, and even those who seemed less experienced worked so hard that I found myself wanting to cheer them on. Perhaps because only the bathroom in my room is old, water leaked from under the bathtub, soaking the bath mat and flooding about half of the floor. On the second floor of the main building there is a library corner, along with stationery and a mailbox on a small desk. You can post letters to someone important or “letters to your future self,” like a time capsule. It said they can keep them for up to 10 years, which made this such a wonderful Hotel that I’d like to return again looking forward to that.

    We fully enjoyed the charming atmosphere of Old Karuizawa.

    A building surrounded by greenery, a church (there was a wedding the day after our stay), and Kyu-Karuizawa Ginza within walking distance. I think this is an excellent Hotel for fully enjoying the Karuizawa atmosphere. These classic Hotels are becoming fewer even in Karuizawa, so I consider it a valuable Hotel.

    The staff’s smiles were wonderful!

    The staff were kind, and their smiles were wonderful. As expected, the Facility is old, so it can’t match the comfort of a modern Hotel, but I felt it more than made up for that. Thank you for your hospitality.

    A Hotel with a Great Atmosphere

    Conveniently located midway between Kyu-Karuizawa Ginza and the station, with easy access to Kumoba Pond for a pleasant walk. It’s a classic and truly lovely Hotel. They upgraded our Room (perhaps because there was availability), and we were very happy to relax in a spacious Room. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious. For breakfast I debated the French toast, but chose an egg dish this time. Next time I’d definitely like to try the French toast. One concern was that a restaurant staff member was not Japanese, and they didn’t understand my questions. I think it would be better if they could ask a Japanese staff member when they are unsure. I asked about the tea flavor and was told it was “straight.” When I asked if there was decaffeinated tea, they said yes but then brought coffee instead. That was a bit disappointing, but they worked very hard and left a positive impression. The atmosphere inside the Hotel is also wonderful, with a church among the trees—very charming. I would like to stay here again when visiting Karuizawa.

    A charming Resort Hotel with convenient access from the station.

    It takes about a 10-minute walk from Karuizawa Station to reach the Hotel. The route is well maintained and has a proper sidewalk. After branching onto Manpei Street, it’s about a 2-minute walk. The area around the Hotel also has an authentic resort atmosphere. I stayed in mid-April, and it seemed a bit too early to fully enjoy the fresh green leaves on the trees. Although it’s a small Hotel, it offers the feel of an upscale Resort Hotel, and I enjoyed great value for money. However, this may change during peak season.

    As this is an overal...

    As this is an overall old Western-style Hotel, everything in the room felt outdated. The bed was very hard, and the bedding was covered in pilling. It was generally dark, and I couldn’t adjust each light individually... Breakfast was included, and I chose French toast, but it came with a salad, a small piece of French toast, and yogurt. It was enough for a child but too little for an adult, and for this price it felt underwhelming. There were many families staying, and because it’s a wooden building we could clearly hear conversations from other rooms, which was noisy. It was a disappointing Hotel if you’re looking to enjoy an escape from everyday life.

    Wonderful Hotel

    I’ve been visiting Karuizawa since I was young. Each time, I told myself I would stay here once I became an adult. The staff were very kind, and the Hotel was wonderful—I had a truly comfortable stay. They even have a thoughtful mailbox where you can post a letter to your future self or someone important to be delivered in 10 years, which made me want to come back and stay again in 10 years. Thank you very much.

    A Hotel with a Calm Atmosphere

    Perhaps because it was the off-season, it was a calm and quiet Hotel. We stayed on the “Three Special Gifts” Plan, and the deluxe room came with a birthday celebration cake, which made for a wonderful night. Dinner was delicious, but what impressed us most at the Hotel was breakfast: we happened to choose the Japanese set (which we don’t usually pick), and it was excellent. It was also interesting that breakfast was served in a tucked-away yakitori restaurant different from the dinner venue. All of the Hotel staff were very polite and pleasant, and they also explained details about the Hotel thoroughly. The grounds were quite spacious, and it was fun exploring the buildings and gardens on site. However, some parts of the building seemed not to have been renovated since it was first built. I feel it would be even better with partial updates (especially around plumbing areas). Thank you very much to all of the staff.

    Whirlwind Trip

    I’ve visited Karuizawa in winter more than dozens of times for ski lessons and skiing, but this was my first stay at this Hotel. It has a classic atmosphere, and there is even a small chapel; since it was Saturday, a ceremony was being held. The Room is compact, but more than enough for two people. These days you rarely see it anymore, but they had filled the Room kettle with water for us, which felt refreshingly thoughtful. They also prepared children’s nightwear even though we hadn’t requested it. After arrival, we were told we couldn’t enter until 3:00 PM. I’d been up since 4:30 AM and after over three hours in traffic it was tough on my aging body, so I asked about 20 minutes early just in case—and they kindly showed us to our Room. After that, my child and I fell fast asleep. That night my child wanted to roast marshmallows, so they let us do it by the fireplace. I assumed there would be a charge per stick or something like that, but they let each of us have one for free. My child was thrilled—thank you. There’s also a bar where you can order drinks, so we ordered a few things. Honestly, I was surprised we could relax in such an atmosphere even with a child. There was a small issue, so next time I’ll make sure to confirm the prices properly. The drinks were very delicious. The next day was the badge test! Thank you for checking us out early and taking photos for us in the cold morning air. It’s close to the ski resort, so we’ll visit again if we have the chance. And of course—I passed the test!

    Fully Satisfied with the Nakadanaso Collaboration Plan

    I discovered this plan when I was hesitant about sleeping on futons in a traditional Ryokan, despite enjoying the Onsen baths and meals. This plan allows you to stay at the conveniently located Otowa no Mori Hotel while savoring the charming Onsen and cuisine of Nakatana-so. It’s a concept I’d love to use again. I was very impressed with the functional yet stylish atmosphere and excellent service at Otowa no Mori Hotel. The shuttle service for arrival and the unique return trip by train added to the enjoyment, making it an exceptional collaboration. Considering its content, the cost-performance is also remarkable. I will definitely use this plan again for my next visit to Karuizawa!

    The Hotel offers a great location and excellent amenities.

    The staff's service is excellent, the Room is clean, and the Hotel offers great value for money. I enjoyed strolling around Old Karuizawa in the morning. The parking lot is spacious. Highly recommended!

    Satisfaction guaranteed!

    I chose a standard room to save on accommodation costs, but it was more spacious and cleaner than expected, with attentive service that made for a comfortable stay. The towels were fluffy and embroidered with the hotel name, and the amenities were well-stocked. Breakfast was the only meal I had, but it was delightful with fresh highland vegetable salad, freshly made omelets, handmade roast ham, and four types of bread. Above all, the hospitality was exceptional, making for a pleasant morning experience. I would love to stay here again next time!

    Resort Hotel for Adults

    Polite and friendly service begins the moment you step through the door. Both the lobby and Room, as well as the manga room, have a pleasant fragrance and a calming atmosphere that makes you feel at ease. Next time, I would like to stay for more than two nights and enjoy the meals as well. The shower could be a bit stronger. The L'Occitane body soap is uplifting.

    A Quiet Retreat

    I stayed in early November. It was a quiet and elegant hotel I had wanted to stay at for a long time, and it met my expectations. The autumn leaves around the hotel were also very beautiful. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious; thank you for the wonderful meals. The service at the hotel was courteous, and I truly appreciated all the care provided. I would love to visit again in a different season.

    Excellent hospitality.

    After checking out, we visited the observation deck and received kind explanations about the location. We were even guided to the bus stop. During this time, we were kindly allowed to park our car in the parking lot. The Room, dining area, and other parts of the building had a charming design and were delightful.

    The morning temperat...

    The morning temperature is around 20 degrees. Enjoy breakfast under dappled sunlight with four types of freshly baked bread, homemade jam, and juice—simply the best. The grilled chicken at Otowatei was also impressive. Great seats, great Room, thank you for your hospitality.

    The food was excellent.

    The building is old, but the friendly service of the staff was impressive. The dinner and breakfast at the restaurant were delicious. The restaurant was even featured in a local newspaper, which made me feel that their cuisine is trusted by the community. The sunlight filtering through the trees onto the moss in the courtyard was also beautiful. It felt like staying at a private villa rather than a new or large Hotel.

    A bit disappointing

    The room I stayed in had a ceiling full of stains. The unit bath had a step, was narrow, and the sink was heavily cracked. The comforter was thick and not suitable for the season. The breakfast was delicious. It is a historic hotel, but I believe repairs and renovations are necessary.

    It was a wonderful Hotel! The soothing aroma upon entering the premises was delightful, and the staff's smooth service was impressive. The Room was clean, and I loved the L'Occitane bath set! Breakfast felt like dining at a fine restaurant—calm and relaxing. The homemade bread was delicious; my husband even had seconds. Of course, all other dishes were equally tasty. I wish I could have had more of the yogurt mousse. The restaurant staff's service was impeccable as well! I regret missing out on trying Sean’s cream puffs and purchasing the Hotel cookies. Check-out time at 11 AM allowed for a leisurely morning. The Hotel itself is so peaceful, with time flowing gently—it’s such a comfortable place to stay. I also loved their letter-writing service (I wrote one to our future selves). I'm grateful to my husband for finding such an amazing Hotel, and I can’t wait to stay here again!
