    Everyone is fully satisfied.

    It was a trip with 8 visually impaired individuals, and everyone had an extremely satisfying stay. The Facility and services provided were an unparalleled level of hospitality, but above all, we were deeply impressed by the thoughtful care of the staff. We are especially grateful for the assistance during meals. We would love to visit again. (Not only the Ryokan but also everyone in Kii-Katsuura was kind, making it a very disability-friendly town.)

    Exceptional hospitality and outstanding service.

    I stayed at the accommodation to celebrate her birthday and propose to her. After making the reservation, I consulted in advance about her birthday and the proposal. Upon arrival, we were treated with exceptional hospitality, including a room upgrade, various services, gifts, and warm words from the staff. Thanks to this wonderful support, my proposal was successful, and she was delighted. During our stay, we experienced an extraordinary atmosphere throughout and felt it was the most fulfilling accommodation of our lives. Even during our send-off, they waved until our boat disappeared from sight—it was truly touching. To Aoki Island Accommodation Nakano-shima Kumano Annex: Thank you so much for everything! We will definitely use your services again for future anniversaries!

    From the parking lot...

    From the parking lot at the arrival dock to the parking lot at the departure dock, we received exceptional hospitality. Thank you very much. For Facility rating of 4, it would be helpful to have handrails for using the open-air bath. I believe there were none? It would assist elderly guests, though it might affect the view?

    For your wedding anniversary

    Natural flowing Onsen, friendly service with a smile, and a unique location accessible by boat – everything was satisfying. It was my first time staying here, and upon mentioning it was our wedding anniversary, flowers were placed in the Room and we received wonderful service during dinner. It made us very happy. I would definitely like to stay again. The only slight disappointment was that the sink area was narrow, dimly lit, and not very user-friendly.

    Relax on the Island

    This is the only accommodation on the island. We enjoyed strolling to the observation deck to view the Pacific Ocean, relaxing in the large public bath, open-air baths, and even our room's private open-air bath. We wished we could have stayed longer, so next time we plan to arrive earlier and stay until just before check-out. The meals were exquisite, utilizing high-quality ingredients with a refined and delicate flavor. Breakfast was served at a table with an ocean view, allowing us to enjoy it under clear skies in a refreshing atmosphere. All staff members provided exceptional service, making this accommodation a place we'd love to visit again in every aspect.

    A Moment on the Island

    Although arriving in the evening and not being able to relax the next morning was unfortunate, staying at a Hotel accessible only by boat was a unique experience. The view from the Room was great, but the standard Room did not feel particularly relaxing. However, with excellent lounge facilities and post-bath services, I had a comfortable stay overall.

    The open-air hot spring on the remote island is amazing!

    Drawn by the unique experience of crossing by boat and the open-air bath close to the ocean, we made a reservation. Coming from Chiba Prefecture, we traveled a long distance using the Shinkansen, Kintetsu train, and a rental car, but it was well worth it for this satisfying accommodation. The boat to the island was much larger than expected, accommodating dozens of people comfortably. As expected on an island, every room and dining area offered stunning ocean views everywhere you looked. The meals exceeded our expectations with luxurious dishes such as Matsusaka beef sukiyaki, fish, and abalone—all deliciously prepared. The breathtaking view from the large open-air bath was particularly remarkable; combined with its slightly sulfuric spring quality (?), it was one of the most satisfying baths we've ever experienced. We also learned that shuttle service via helicopter is available—next time we hope to extend our stay if possible. Although served by a new staff member during our visit, their earnest effort came through clearly in their hospitality. It was an incredibly satisfying stay—thank you very much!

    I feel refreshed!

    We booked a plan for 3 people, 2 nights and 3 days, including field kayaking. The room at Shiomichitei was spacious and clean, with a stunning ocean view that made us feel very relaxed. My parents, who joined me on this trip, were initially curious about staying at an onsen accommodation accessible only by boat. However, they were absolutely delighted upon arrival. The meals were exquisite, featuring local seafood and carefully prepared dishes using regional ingredients. What stood out the most was the friendly and kind staff who made our stay even more enjoyable. The field kayaking included in our accommodation plan was blessed with great weather, allowing us to fully enjoy the sea of Nachikatsuura while spotting dolphins up close. There are plenty of other activities to enjoy using this accommodation as a base—such as fishing or exploring around Nachi Taisha Shrine. If you have time, we highly recommend a multiple night stay!

    Only the cleanliness was disappointing.

    The facility has been renovated and is old, but the room was clean. Unfortunately, there was mold on the air conditioning vent, which caused a musty smell in the room. Wiping off the mold with tissues reduced the odor, but I ended up cleaning the room myself. The service was excellent, the food was delicious, and the Onsen water was great. If cleaning had been better, it would have been an even better experience.

    Unfortunately.

    The public bath faucets felt a bit outdated. However, the staff's courteous service, the excellent breakfast, and the room facilities were all satisfactory. The one regret from this stay was choosing the "Teppanyaki Steakhouse Dinner" featuring Wakayama's renowned Kumano beef. While I was aware that it would be at a steakhouse outside the facility, it turned out to be a cluttered restaurant near the port filled mostly with foreign tourists, making for an uncomfortable dining experience. The quality of ingredients and chef’s skills were not bad. If it had been a random restaurant stumbled upon during sightseeing in Nachikatsuura, it would have been understandable. However, considering the hotel's prestige and plan pricing, there was too much of a gap (I ordered garlic rice but was told it wasn’t available). I understand that my own expectations might have been influenced by frequent visits to grills or steakhouses in Tokyo hotels. Still, I hope you can directly assess whether this plan truly meets guest satisfaction standards as part of "Kumano Bettei Nakanoshima." In hindsight, I wish I had opted for dinner within the hotel instead (though breakfast was exceptional).

    Delicious meals!

    We stayed at this accommodation for a family trip with our 5-year-old child, and it became a memorable experience. I was initially worried after seeing some negative reviews about the meals, but my concerns were unfounded. The local fish sashimi, including tuna, as well as the sukiyaki featuring Kumano beef, Matsusaka beef, and Iga beef were absolutely delicious! The small dish of simmered butterbur topped with meat miso served at breakfast was particularly delightful; even my husband, who dislikes vegetables, praised it highly. We were very satisfied with the carefully prepared dishes made from excellent local ingredients served in small portions. As for the facility itself, while it is clean and has a modern design, there is an unavoidable sense of rebranding over an older structure—but that’s understandable. Above all else, the onsen is fantastic! The meals are delicious as mentioned earlier; the room was clean; and the staff are well-trained and kind (I was surprised not to see any foreign staff). It’s truly a great accommodation overall. However, since the onsen spans two floors (1st and 2nd) and there are long hallways separating different wings of the building, it might be challenging for elderly guests. It seems more suited for young families or couples.

    This was our first time staying here. We drove from Kanagawa with my wife, and the heartfelt hospitality of the staff made our stay very pleasant. Recently, as I gradually entrust my company to my sons, we often go on couple's trips before retirement. Among accommodations of a similar level that we've visited so far, I believe the staff's service here is top-notch. We would love to visit again for a relaxing stay. However, if possible, it would be great if drinks could be prepared in the refrigerator at least in the suites.

    It is a delightful accommodation.

    Stayed for two nights during Obon. The room had an open-air bath, but the view was of the dock, so it wasn't great... However, the room was spacious and relaxing. Since it was the day of a fireworks festival, they kindly served dinner earlier so we could go watch the Nachikatsuura Fireworks Festival. By the way, this fireworks festival is amazing as you can see it up close even if you arrive just before it starts—highly recommended! The meals were served promptly without making us overly full, with just the right portions. The staff gave us space to enjoy our time comfortably. Both fish and meat dishes were delicious. We chose a plan that included kayaking, which was also enjoyable! I had concerns about paddling alone due to a shoulder injury but felt reassured with a tandem kayak. It was a relaxed experience paddling around the bay while spotting dolphins and whales—highly recommended! I thoroughly enjoyed summer here; it was fun and refreshing. The staff at this accommodation were all kind and helpful—it’s truly a great place to stay. Being able to access by boat is also a big plus point! I’ll definitely use this accommodation again when visiting Katsuura area in the future! Thank you very much for everything during our stay!

    Not enough time.

    Relax in a spacious Onsen, enjoy a leisurely time, and indulge in various baths, visit the lounge, and savor meals at your own pace. However, with so much to do, it feels like there’s never enough time to fully unwind. How many times have I thought "next time for sure"? Once again, I returned home filled with the desire to revisit next time. Looking forward to my next stay!

    Deluxe Suite (Japanese-Western Style) One-Night Stay

    We stayed for one night in the Suite Room (Japanese-Western style) during a holiday. The room was spacious, and the suite included an open-air Onsen (we are unsure if other rooms have Onsen). While soaking in the bath, we could watch dolphins jumping in the sea enclosure. The meals were exquisite, featuring fresh seafood and Matsusaka beef tasting, which were absolutely delicious. The service was friendly, and with great weather, we enjoyed a sky full of stars at night. The next day, we tried kayaking as part of our Plan (you can see dolphins up close), which turned out to be more enjoyable than expected—a perfect choice! We hope to visit again someday.     Both the kayak and the Hotel were great.

    Thank you very much. We booked a plan that included kayaking and accommodation. We enjoyed the kayaking exclusively by ourselves. Additionally, we were very satisfied with the hotel staff's service, the open-air bath, and the meals. It was a great trip.

    Everyone has different values, but I felt it was better not to expect too much based on the high reviews. There are other accommodations accessible by boat or cable car, but this time, I found nothing particularly special and only felt it was inconveniently located. Additionally, the customer service felt like watching a role-playing training session, which made me uncomfortable.

    I had an extraordinary holiday experience.

    A wonderful Hotel located on an island off the coast of Katsuura Port. The journey begins with a private boat ride from the port, adding to the excitement. The sea surrounding the Hotel is incredibly beautiful. The staff are exceptionally kind and attentive, providing thoughtful service throughout our stay. Thank you for all your help! The Onsen with natural hot spring water flowing directly from the source is spacious and comfortable. The view from the open-air bath is especially stunning. Meals made with plenty of local ingredients were absolutely delicious. We enjoyed an extraordinary holiday away from everyday life. We would love to visit again in another season!

    A good accommodation as per the reviews.

    I was hesitant to stay as I had to leave my car behind to cross over to the island, but the excellent reviews convinced me to give it a try. Upon arrival, I found that the Ryokan lived up to its reputation. I vaguely remember staying here nearly 40 years ago, and seeing photos and autographs of Sean Connery from when he stayed during the filming of the first 007 movie brought back memories. The staff at the dock were very helpful with luggage management and pre-check-in procedures, allowing me to cross over without worry. My room was upgraded to a higher-grade Japanese-Western style room. The staff greeted me warmly upon arrival and even assisted with fishing by coming out to explain how everything worked in detail. Thanks to their help, I caught a fish just under 20 cm long, which they fried for me for dinner. They also suggested bringing along a complimentary cold canned beer while fishing—it made for an unforgettable experience! The onsen was authentic with a source temperature of about 50°C, and the open-air bath offered stunning views that enhanced relaxation. At the post-bath lounge area, complimentary canned beer was available—a delightful touch. Dinner featured dishes like sukiyaki made with Matsusaka beef, Iga beef, Kumano beef, as well as sashimi such as buri-hira—all delicious. However, since Nachikatsuura is known for tuna (maguro), I had hoped for bluefin tuna (kuro-maguro) toro but it wasn’t served nor available at nearby ports either. Breakfast included some buffet-style options like maguro sashimi which were enjoyable too. The upgraded room added greatly to my satisfaction; combined with exceptional service and onsen facilities matching high review standards—it’s clear why this place is so highly rated. If there’s any downside worth mentioning: dinner times are split into two slots—5:45 PM or 7:30 PM—and offering more flexible time slots would be appreciated; also blackout curtains in rooms could be improved as sunlight woke me up around 5 AM; lastly toilets weren’t automatic flush types which felt slightly outdated. Overall though, this is an outstanding hotel with excellent hospitality—I’d love to visit again!

    Mini Cruise

    It was unfortunately pouring rain on the check-in day. The staff promptly assisted to ensure our luggage didn’t get wet, which we truly appreciated. The mini boat trip on a comfortable round-trip boat was enjoyable! However, I think the "Mask Required" sign at the dock should be removed as it seems unnecessary now. The view from the Room was stunning and perfect for someone like me who loves the ocean. Although it rained during the open-air bath in the daytime, it cleared up at night, and I enjoyed soaking in high-quality hot springs with women’s bathing wear provided for peace of mind. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious. The lounge service after bathing was also excellent! While all staff members were attentive during their shifts, I felt a bit sad about being overlooked by off-duty staff members. Sorry for pointing out minor details! I would love to stay here again.

    Stunning Open-Air Bath

    This was my first visit to Nachikatsuura, and I stayed at a Ryokan this time. (1) Bath: The large open-air bath and the Onsen near the sea offered breathtaking views. The cave bath also had a unique charm, making it an incredibly satisfying experience. (2) Cuisine: Every dish made with local ingredients was delicious. The fresh tuna, Wagyu beef tasting, and plum tasting were particularly memorable. Dinner portions were slightly large, making it challenging to finish everything by the end of the meal. (3) Staff: Their attention to detail was commendable. However, it would have been helpful if important information like needing to send parcels by 10 AM on departure day for next-day delivery had been explained during check-in or earlier. Additionally, small gestures like providing extra bags for parcel packing without being asked would have enhanced the experience further. Overall, it was a high-quality stay worth recommending to others, and I look forward to visiting again!

    We stayed here for a special occasion. Upon check-in and during meals, we were warmly greeted with "Congratulations." We were also pleasantly surprised with flowers, which made us very happy. The Room, meals, and bath were all excellent. We visited the lounge several times and enjoyed the coffee, alcoholic beverages, and snacks. It was a very relaxing and wonderful trip.

    The staff was excellent.

    The staff were very warm and welcoming, making my stay extremely pleasant. The Onsen was magnificent and very relaxing. Additionally, amenities were placed everywhere, allowing for a completely stress-free experience. It was an excellent Onsen Hotel. I will definitely visit again. Thank you to all the staff!

    I was happy.

    We visited with a senior couple from a leading company in Korea. Although we arrived earlier than planned at Nachi Fukuura and Nachi Shrine, we were warmly welcomed. It was the first time for the chairman of this large company and his wife to experience a free trip using a rental car, and they repeatedly expressed their desire to visit again with their family, which made us very happy as we had prepared this trip together. Both dinner and breakfast satisfied even my rather particular tastes. The large public bath and Onsen also provided an incredibly relaxing and blissful experience. The short but impactful walking paths on the island offered breathtaking scenery at every turn, leaving our group deeply moved. The footbath along the way provided stunning views while soaking our feet—a truly healing experience. After enjoying the Onsen, treats like ice pops, beer, drinks from the bar, and other beverages created a perfect ending to our day as we chatted away happily. Just as our senior couple wishes to return someday, my spouse and I also hope to visit again—whether alone or with family—when in need of relaxation amidst busy daily life. To all staff members: thank you for your kind hospitality throughout our stay until seeing us off so warmly at departure. By the way, it would be wonderful if there were short boat tours around nearby islands available for those on Multiple Night Stays!
