    I want to stay here again!

    We stayed here to celebrate our dog’s first birthday. It was our first family trip with the puppy we had just welcomed home, and we had many worries, but thanks to the kindness of the staff and the well-stocked amenities, we were able to relax and enjoy a comfortable stay. And above all, the meals were delicious!! We had both breakfast and dinner, and both left us completely satisfied—full in body and heart. The Onsen in the large public bath was wonderful as well. The open-air bath in our Room is not an Onsen, but it was spacious and relaxing. Our family has already been saying how we want to come back again soon.

    "An Accommodation you'll want to return to—even on your third stay."

    This was our third stay, and once again we were completely satisfied. Last time we stayed in a first-floor corner Room with a private dog run, which was very comfortable in its own way, but this time we had a third-floor corner Room. There wasn’t a private dog run, but the high ceilings made the entire Room feel spacious and open, and it was truly relaxing. The first and third floors each have their own unique appeal. What left the strongest impression again this time was the food. Dinner is served in the Room, so there’s no need to leave your dog behind and move to a dining area—everyone can relax without worry. That alone is a huge plus when traveling with a dog, but beyond that, the quality of the cuisine is exceptionally high. Not only are the ingredients excellent, each one is thoughtfully prepared with an extra touch of care—you can really feel the chef’s craftsmanship in every dish. It’s not just beautiful to look at; it’s genuinely delicious. Honestly, if I ever appeared on “The Best Restaurant of My Life,” I might even nominate this place. That’s how memorable dinner here is every time. It’s also wonderful that breakfast is served in the Room as well. Without having to move around with your dog or worry about others from early morning, you can enjoy your meal at your own pace. And of course breakfast is delicious too—overall satisfaction with meals from dinner through breakfast is extremely high. The baths were outstanding as well. Our whole family used the large public bath three times during our stay. It fully delivers on what you hope for when coming all the way to Hakone—to truly enjoy an Onsen. The staff are also very experienced with guests traveling with dogs and interact naturally without making things feel overly formal, which gives great peace of mind. You may occasionally hear dogs barking inside the building, but there’s an atmosphere of mutual understanding among guests, which made it easy to relax. After three stays—and feeling “we want to come back” every single time—this has become an Accommodation that will likely be our first choice for our next trip to Hakone as well.

    A dog-first Facility

    A dog-first Facility, hospitality, and Room—everything from the meals to the Onsen was fully satisfying. The staff’s service and courteous language were especially outstanding, making our stay truly comfortable. We would definitely like to stay again.

    The meals are outstanding.

    The dinner and breakfast were so luxurious and delicious you’d never guess they were served in the Room, and being able to dine in the Room let us enjoy our meals at a relaxed pace. There are two outdoor dog runs and one indoor dog run. The indoor one in particular takes up an entire floor, so our dog could play comfortably. There were also plenty of toys. The bath was amazing—an open-air bath in the Room was perfect. The large public bath is an Onsen and felt wonderful. Free drinks were available, and the coffee was especially delicious. We enjoyed it slowly after our meal. All of the staff were wonderful, with such warm smiles. We usually leave our pet at a pet Hotel when we travel, but staying here with our dog felt like it would cost less than that. It was truly fantastic. These days it’s hard to book Accommodation due to inbound tourism, but since this place is for stays with dogs, there weren’t any overseas guests, and we could relax comfortably at our own pace.

    We were able to relax and take it easy with our dog.

    Although it was a busy Obon period, we were able to relax both inside the property and in the baths. Our dog enjoyed exploring the Room and seemed to love cooling off on the balcony. Since meals were served in our Room, we could take our time without worrying about our dog’s behavior, which made us especially happy. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious. The open-air bath was spacious, and we went back more than once; we also enjoyed the happy hour beer. Everything was wonderful, and we would love to visit again.

    Traveling with Seniors and Senior Dogs

    Thank you for your hospitality. I would like to share what was good and what was disappointing. First, about the bath. What was great was having an open-air bath in the Room. I traveled with my 92-year-old father, who has difficulty walking, but since the male family member who could assist us arrived late at night, we gave up taking him to the public bath in case he fell and no one could help. Having an open-air bath in the Room allowed us to enjoy bathing comfortably without feeling we had to compromise too much. The first reason for giving 2 stars is that, despite requesting it by phone in advance, the chair provided was too low. In our second-day Room, a high caregiving chair had been set up, so it clearly does exist—making this especially disappointing. On the second day we went to the public bath, so we did not need that high chair then. It felt like nothing had been communicated properly. The second reason is that while there is a high caregiving chair in the women’s public bath area, there is none in the men’s area. Shouldn’t both have one? Next, about the floors. The floor in the Room really is non-slip—very kind for senior dogs. However, the hallways were stone and extremely slippery. The corridors had a woven-like flooring material but were also very slippery. For a senior dog who can barely walk, this was harsh. Finally, staff training: overall it seems thorough above all warm and welcoming. However there are inconsistencies in knowledge and overconfidence in skills among staff members . This time our dog showed signs of dehydration so we planned to administer subcutaneous fluids . A staff member told us on previous day “We can do it please call us,” but when we called them they had almost no knowledge and could not answer any questions . Another staff member said they cannot administer fluids and asked us to do it ourselves . It felt inconsistent that some staff said they would do it while others clearly said they should not . Subcutaneous fluids are a medical procedure but can be done at home without a veterinary license . We did not expect anyone to do it for us; we simply wanted confirmation or guidance from someone knowledgeable . If you have staff with veterinary nurse qualifications , I believe refresher training is needed so their knowledge and skills do not fade . If their expertise cannot be used when needed , those qualifications lose their meaning . I hope you will consider this carefully .

    Might be the best value for money in Regina.

    Regina Resort was my third stay, after Lake Yamanaka and Izu Murin. Each has its own strengths, but overall Hakone Sengokuhara was the best. The meals were delicious, and the portions were just right for women. The Onsen in the large public bath was great, but it would have been even better if the bath in the Room had also been an Onsen. Still, I’m definitely coming back—Done.

    The food was amazing! The staff were wonderful!

    Although it was our first stay and we arrived much earlier than the check-in time, the staff kindly accommodated us and allowed us into our Room early. Dinner was served in the Room, and our attendant efficiently prepared everything while also playing with our dog. They brought each course at just the right pace, so we could enjoy a relaxed meal. The dishes were beautifully presented, and everything tasted absolutely wonderful. The large public bath was an Onsen, but we were a little disappointed that the semi-open-air bath in the Room was not; however, since I prefer lukewarm water, I still enjoyed it twice. We also visited the lobby several times to enjoy the complimentary drinks and photo spots. Thanks to all of the staff for their warm and excellent service, we had a truly satisfying stay.     Accommodation costs in Sengokuhara are affordable.

    It was my first time back at Regina Sengokuhara in seven years. For over ten years, I’ve been a repeat guest at Regina Resort properties in Fuji, Gora, Sengokuhara, Izu, Kamogawa, and more. The meals were delicious again this time. But it felt a little different from the excitement I remembered that day. Had time changed? Had I changed? Or had the Accommodation changed? Thinking about that, I soaked in the open-air bath in my Room while listening to the sound of the rain.

    A pet- and people-friendly Accommodation!

    We stayed for two nights with our family of three and our dog to celebrate my husband’s 77th birthday. Every meal was delicious, and we truly enjoyed them. Since meals were served in the Room, our dog barked a lot each time a staff member brought the food, but they knelt down to our dog’s eye level and helped him feel at ease. All of the staff greeted us with warm smiles, which made it very relaxing. We also had times when we could enjoy the Onsen privately, so we were able to unwind. We would love to visit again.     Perfect for traveling with pets

    This was our first time staying here. It was a trip with my 90-year-old mother and our Toy Poodle. From arrival to departure, everyone was extremely kind, and we had a very comfortable stay. Having our meals in the Room allowed Lala to relax and feel at ease, and we also enjoyed the delicious food very much. We have stayed at several pet-friendly Accommodations in Hakone, and this one was truly wonderful. Thank you very much.

    Now I want a Multiple Night Stay!

    Since visiting Regina Fuji six years ago, we stayed at Regina Yamanakako again last month for the first time in a while and had a wonderful experience, so we wanted to try another Regina and chose Hakone Sengokuhara. Because meals are served in the Room, we were worried our dog might not settle down, but staff entry was kept to a minimum and we were able to enjoy our meal calmly without feeling rushed. Above all, we were delighted by the breed-themed coaster; thank you very much for kindly giving us an extra one to take home—we displayed it in our living room right away. Both the Onsen and the meals were excellent (though it was a shame that the shiratama in dessert was quite firm for both of us). The Facility was clean throughout, and the interior felt very Hakone-like. The Onsen is on the first floor, but our Room was on the third floor—the same level as reception—so getting around from the parking lot was easy as well. At Regina, the staff maintain just the right sense of distance; their attentive yet unobtrusive service was truly appreciated. We would love to visit again in a different season.

    Wonderful Accommodation

    This was my first stay here. I was truly impressed to be welcomed at the entrance upon arrival. The entrance is on the 3rd floor of the building, and the Room we stayed in was also on the 3rd floor, so getting around was easy. Both the Room and amenities were clean, and most pet supplies were provided as well. In-room dining was wonderfully attentive, and I really appreciated how thoroughly the staff member explained everything. When I mentioned how happy I was that the coasters for placing glasses were handmade, they even made a new set for us to take home as a souvenir. We also thoroughly enjoyed both the large public bath and the meals. This has become an Accommodation I would definitely love to visit again.

    It’s been a while since my last stay.

    Because we love the quiet, relaxing atmosphere of Sengokuhara and have stayed here multiple times, our dog also seems to feel at ease and relax as if at home. Once again, the Onsen is wonderful. The bath area is clean and serene, and the water from Owakudani is gentle, making it very relaxing. The meals are thoughtfully prepared every time (the rice is delicious!), and we enjoyed them again this visit. However, with recent increases in ingredient costs, we wonder if there may be an option for paid upgrade menus as well. We will visit again soon.

    Dog-friendly, with delicious meals

    I stayed here for my dog’s birthday. Thank you for preparing a birthday photo session and even a cake. The large public bath is available from early morning until late at night, so I was able to use it twice. The food at Regina Hotel is always delicious, and I was very satisfied with Hakone as well. Thank you for allowing us to relax and spend quality time with my dog. However, it was disappointing that I noticed a slight odor in the Room.

    Not good value for money...

    We stayed with three large dogs. We booked a ground-floor Room with a private garden for two people for two weekday nights, costing JPY 180,000. This was after an IKYU discount, so I think it would normally be over JPY 200,000. We also prepaid in advance, and then paid an additional JPY 40,000 on-site for the dogs’ accommodation fee and to buy dog meals and toys. For the price, it felt underwhelming. The in-room Japanese meal was good and tasted great. Since we had a ground-floor Room with a garden, it was convenient because the public bath was nearby—but that was about it. It wasn’t the level of quality you’d expect for over JPY 50,000 per person. I tried to accept it as “maybe that’s just Hakone.” One more thing: although large dogs are allowed, there are no Facilities or services specifically geared toward large dogs—so don’t expect much. The staff also gave me the impression they were afraid of large dogs; even though we stayed two nights, they didn’t show any affection toward them at all. Disappointing. In comparison, I would recommend Forest Village at Lake Kawaguchi instead.

    We were extremely satisfied.

    The staff were very courteous, and the stay was extremely comfortable. The in-Room bath was excellent. The soundproofing was solid, and the meals were very delicious. I would like to stay here again.

    It was my first time...

    It was my first time staying at an accommodation where I could bring my pet. Everything necessary for pets was provided, so it felt like there was nothing to worry about. The staff were very kind and interacted with our barking dog without any unpleasant reactions, which I greatly appreciated. However, perhaps because I had high expectations based on the reviews of the food, I found it somewhat underwhelming compared to similar-class ryokans. I will decide whether to visit again depending on whether it's for my pet or for my own relaxation. It was a very safe and comfortable accommodation for my beloved dog.

    As expected from Regina, the meals and cleanliness are impeccable. Room and Amenities The room is clean and well-maintained. It was convenient to have essentials like drinking water and skincare products readily available. Since I was alone, I felt hesitant to leave my dog behind to visit the public bath, so having an open-air bath in the room was a delightful feature. The atmosphere of the room and the view from the open-air bath were excellent, making it enjoyable just to spend time in the room. If I may suggest improvements, it would be great if Netflix could be connected as currently only terrestrial TV is available. Additionally, allowing dogs for Child Sharing Existing Bedding would be appreciated. Facility It would be helpful if paid drinks were stocked in the room's refrigerator. The alcohol vending machine being located in a non-dog-friendly area felt inconvenient. Also, there are limited options for alcoholic beverages at the vending machine. Although it rained on that day which was unfortunate, my dog seemed very satisfied with the spacious indoor dog run area. Consumables like pet sheets were conveniently placed throughout various locations—this was truly helpful. Meals I enjoyed having meals served in-room at a relaxed pace. The portion size was slightly small but delicious nonetheless!

    The service is excellent.

    The Room was barrier-free and well-equipped with amenities. The meals were extremely delicious, and I finished everything for both breakfast and dinner. I was very satisfied. There were several dog runs, making it a very friendly place for both dogs and people. It was a bit disappointing that the bathtub in the Room cooled down quickly due to its material, but I appreciated being able to bathe freely while keeping an eye on my dog. The staff's attentiveness was also excellent. From front desk service to meal times, they promptly contacted me about forgotten items and handled them efficiently. I would love to visit again!

    First-time Use

    First-time visit (previously stayed at Regina Fuji). The room was spacious, and the dog runs both outside and on the 4th floor of the hotel were great. The Onsen in Sengokuhara was semi-milky and very relaxing. The highlight was the food—having meals served in the room made it comfortable, and above all, everything was delicious! The flavors were excellent, and the presentation was beautiful. Additionally, we ordered a pairing set of drinks (2 sake and 2 wines), all of which were delightful (we even searched for and purchased one of the white wines after returning home). We were very satisfied and would love to stay again if we have another opportunity.

    We thoroughly enjoyed dining and the dog run with our furry friend.

    We stayed for two nights as a couple with our Maltipoo. Both dinner and breakfast were served in the Room, allowing us to enjoy meals together with our dog. The food was incredibly delicious and beautifully presented. Despite it being a Multiple Night Stay, the menu was completely changed each day—thank you for that! While there were many dishes, each portion was small enough that we could enjoy everything, including dessert at the end. The entire facility is dog-friendly; on the sunny first day, we played at the outdoor dog run, and on the rainy third day, we used the indoor dog run on the fourth floor. We also enjoyed soaking in our private open-air bath every day while breathing in fresh forest air. Sengokuhara was beautiful during this season of pampas grass. We would love to visit again during another season!
